It looks like you're headed in the right direction @thenewaveragebear1983! 🥳 I struggle to get 100g of protein in as well. What have you been eating to reach that? I struggle to get over 65g most days!

@TalkToTheHand123 I have had that moment, a glimpse in the mirror that makes me think, wow, she looks rough/ out of shape/ lumpy, and then realise it's me 😱! It's an awful feeling, that realisation. Just remember though, some of those mirrors are a trick mirror and add 10lbs, like the crazy mirror at the fair!

@poorpaws finding motivation can be hard, I'm sorry you're going through that currently 💐

@HardyAnt I'm sorry you found yourself at a weight you'd never want to get to, but you are using it as motivation! Keep going and aim to never reach it again 🏋‍♀️

Since I posted last time I had gone to urgent care and found out I had an upper respiratory infection. I was put on steroids and an antibiotic. I'm done with both of those now and feel much better!

Last Wednesday (26th Aug) I weighed 157.3lbs.
This Wednesday (2nd Sept) I weighed 156.7lbs, so not quite a pound. I'm headed in the right direction still, but I really need to add in some exercise. I just have to motivate myself to do it.
I still have a belly that needs to go!

I have a spin bike at home, that I love to use (I just don't make the time).
I've tried out a barre workout on YouTube and enjoyed that too, and it's only 15 minutes, but do I do it? No.
I love yoga. See above.
Ugh! We have weights at home too and I know I need to build up my muscle, since I'm in peri. No comment needed on that either.

I don't know what I need to do to motivate myself. I enjoy the workouts, but do not make the time. I think it might be guilt. Guilty because I'm spending time on myself, instead of cleaning or working in the garden, getting other things done. It's all me though, no one else makes me feel guilty.
I need to change this mindset!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/09/2026 18:59

@HazelNotHungryLC I have realised that to get 100g plus I need meat/fish or supplements. I haven’t had supplements/ shakes/ puddings etc just food. Yesterday I had Greek yoghurt and chia, tuna salad, and pork steaks with veg. In order to get the protein in under calories I do have to cut carbs. Yesterday I felt great, today I really struggled and was constantly looking for carbs/ biscuits/ cake (there was none in the house but I struggled all day) I find it really interesting how 2 days can be so different, the only change really was that I didn’t sleep well last night and was awake at 4am and struggled to get back to sleep.

@poorpaws@TalkToTheHand123 sorry you’re both having a difficult week

@HardyAntwoohoo, great start!

I did my official weigh in this morning and I was down 2lb although I imagine tomorrow I might be up again after today’s food. The weekend is looming, we aren’t drinking which will really help but must make sure i don’t end up eating instead!

OP posts:
thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/09/2026 19:46

@HazelNotHungryLC by contrast today I had 1780 calories and only 88g protein and I ate much more sugar and unnecessary rubbish. I think i need to be much more focussed and plan carefully as it’s not my preference of food, so I have to make myself think protein first

Just made and consumed a diy subway mmm just been ko'ed zzzz.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/09/2026 09:02

Had such a good sleep last night, I fell asleep watching tv at 10, went up at 11 and went pretty much straight back to sleep, and woke eventually at 8.35! Wow! I feel so alive! 🤣

feeling very motivated for the weekend now. I’m going to go out for a run and then ds and I have a few jobs to do while dh is at football with the older one. Not drinking definitely helps the diet, I don’t feel like I need toast and stodgy this morning. I’m going to make soup later and have that for lunch today and tomorrow. Dinner tonight is chicken with some sort of sachet mix (I’m not the biggest fan but the dc like trying new combinations and they are usually quite tasty even if they are a bit UPF heavy)

have a great weekend all

TalkToTheHand123 · 06/09/2026 11:34

My sleep is terrible. I think I have serious sleep apnea. Alcohol free weekend though 😧.... so far. Have been making soup. 20min slow walk on treadmill last night.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 06/09/2026 21:05

Good evening, hope everyone has had a good weekend?

yesterday was good after my great sleep, today I felt really washed out and exhausted. I didn’t push myself too much, and did some meal prep and a few other bits for the week.

Hi All, I was wondering if I could join? I'm in desperate need of a plan! I joined mynetdiary yesterday, but got off to a bad start on it as it was Father's day (in Australia) so brekky and dinner were high carb, then I drank wine last night which was dumb. But I felt motivated when I woke up and went for a short fast walk and changed my coffee (first one as usual and second one less milk and no sugar) and today I'm going to fast except for some fruit, and get on track. I'll have some baked fish and veges for dinner and see if I can't drag myself to the gym for the first time in a couple of weeks. Alcohol off limits obvs. My BMI is 25, I plan to lose about 2 stone (which is 13 kgs here in Aus). This is the heaviest I have ever been. Pretty sure I am in peri-men as well, so none of the old tricks are working anymore!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/09/2026 06:37

Morning @Fasttrack2026, welcome , of course you can join! We all do different plans here, lots of variations of essentially healthy eating.

i had a better night last night but just not enough sleep. I’d love an extra hour or even just to wake naturally, that 6.15 alarm hurts. I’m all set for the week, feeling quite positive and I did have a loss last week which is a good start.

poorpaws · 07/09/2026 08:11

Good morning everyone and welcome @Fasttrack2026

you’ll know by my absence that things haven’t been going well here. Everything seems to be against me, but I’m also self sabotaging. Last week we went to the café three times, the ice cream parlour twice and I went out for a really nice meal with DD. I haven’t been out for what I call a “posh” meal for many years and I don’t suppose it was even posh for most people, but it was absolutely fantastic.

Add to this that it’s DP‘s birthday near the end of September and I always buy him about £70 worth of chocolates, sweets, nuts etc which I bought the majority of last week and of course I’ve been digging into it already. I’ve eaten the big box of Maltesers, a huge bar of whole nut chocolate and a pack of crunchies 🤦🏼‍♀️

also my chef neighbour makes tons and tons of different jams every year and she keeps bringing them over. DD has about six jars, DP has nine and I have about 14. The thing is that my neighbour buys lovely jars which she obviously wants washed and returned and she must wonder what the heck’s happening because we never returned the jars because we just don’t eat that much jam. So yesterday I made sultana scones in the air fryer oven to use up the jam. The scones were overcooked because the oven is quite fierce so last night I made another batch which were better. And hopefully I can use the jam on them and return some jars, but it’s not good for my waistline.

Today is food shopping day And I’ll try and at least make some healthy decisions, but this afternoon I have to go into town and return a blouse which looks awful on me and we’re going to the ice cream parlour again. I know I shouldn’t go as often as I do, but I’ve been telling DP that we have to do more because as you know if I don’t keep on at him, we’ll just never go out. So since the ice cream parlour was his decision, I don’t feel like I could go against it and also it will be closing down for the season very soon

I think at the moment I have to try and maintain, which I didn’t do this week, I gained again, then once DP‘s birthday is done start in October to really knuckle down. I know I keep saying this but this week has been horrendous.

I hope everyone is doing well and keeping happy.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/09/2026 19:07

@poorpaws it’s so hard when you have temptations all around you. Your meal out with dd sounds lovely, and to be honest so does the ice cream (I had a simple strawberry scoop in France and it was so delicious, I can still taste it). The neighbours jam would annoy me a bit, surely she doesn’t expect you to eat that much jam?! We use a jar a year max. Maybe ask her if she minds if you donate it onwards if you’re not using it?

today’s been good food wise , I prepped my breakfast and lunch in advance. It’s amazing how much more full I am if I have soup first before my actual lunch. I was stuffed. I went for 2 dog walks, luckily I decided not to run at lunchtime because when I got to bootcamp it was the end of phase fitness test and it’s a grueller. I took 3 minutes off my time so that’s very pleasing and hopefully shows that even though I feel very unfit after the summer, the work is sort of paying off even though it doesn’t always feel like it.

tomorrow, office day- and that usually is a tricky day! I have lots of meetings in and one right up til 4pm so likely will be Late home. My shop is coming tonight so there will be nice healthy food to choose from as long as i actually choose that and not the biccies

Fasttrack2026 · 08/09/2026 02:12

Hi everyone, thanks for the welcome. I'm surprisingly highly motivated right now, I think it's because the weather is turning in part and I know it's going to be a brutally hot summer here in Aus, and most of my summer clothes do not fit me right now, and the idea of 1. Giving up on some of my favourite clothes, and 2. Buying new clothes while I'm feeling as lousy as I am about my shape, is helping. I have a strong picture in my head of a couple of items that I desperately want to fit back into. That said, I am only on day 2, so....
@poorpaws that all sounds very hard, navigating everyone's needs and expectations while trying to manage your own. Iam cooking a seperate meal for myself which is a bit of a pain, but it keeps the peace so to speak. I 100% understand the DH not being a big fan of getting out of the house. Some ice-cream places also sell frozen yoghurt or gelati which I think is a lower calorie count.
I'm finding that for dinner and lunch eggs (like vege omelettes) and also pan fried or oven-baked fish is going to be my friend because it's so much lower in calories so I can eat bigger helpings or add in more sides to feel full. Good luck ladies xx

HazelNotHungryLC · 08/09/2026 06:18

@Fasttrack2026 welcome 👋
I'm also fairly new to the thread, definitely not weight loss though, as I feel like I've been on a path to lose weight since mid teens (when, looking back, I didn't need to!).

@thenewaveragebear1983 well done for taking 3 minutes off, that's quite an achievement!

@poorpaws getting the balance is so hard isn't it?

It was DSs birthday on Saturday, we had a BBQ, I made cupcakes, which I stupidly made gluten free so I could have some too, and now can't stop eating them. I'm struggling to stay away from the carbs. I'm hoping I can get back on track, just having a hard time focusing.

My plan for tomorrow is to do a barre workout (YouTube), plan meals for the week and cook something healthy. If DS is working tomorrow maybe I'll get some salmon (he doesn't like it).

I really must plan around protein, so need to do some searching on Pinterest for ideas.
I did start logging some food on mfp last week, my protein hasn't been high enough. I'm only lying to myself if I don't enter what I've eaten <looking at you, cupcakes> it's not worth it when I gain 2 pounds in 2 days!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/09/2026 20:28

I ached today 💪 Tuesday is my office day and notoriously my worst day of the week. I have gone over my calories but actually I only ate proper food and hit my protein goal and dragged myself out for a walk as well, so all things considered it actually wasn’t that bad.

I’ve had a difficult day at work trying to master a new system with no instructions, my brain aches! I’ve not run all week and my legs are still heavy from Monday at the gym. It’s leaving me feeling a bit flat.
anyway my food has been good despite this, I had 2 oreo with my cuppa earlier for a sugar boost but otherwise everything has been on track and currently after adding my dinner calories, I am 200 under. I could/should Bank them but maybe later I’ll have an extra something.

i really must run tomorrow though, I struggled last week because I was due on and it makes it so hard to run, then this week nothing either. I’ve been walking a fair bit though, trying to get out twice with the dog instead of once.

I'm really enjoying using my.net.diary to track what I'm doing, I've found this before with Noom, it keeps me accountable. Day 4 is going well, I'm doing quite low calories during the week with the weekend allowance a little bit higher, low carbs, more protien than usual but I'm a bit foggy in the afternoons and feel like my sleep is a bit disrupted - although this could be other factors. I've gone for a walk each day, am avoiding sugar (in coffee etc) and alcohol. My main concern is staying motivated because I know I'm in the honeymoon period and I'm not as resilient as I like to think... anyway, today I feel good, so I'm going to enjoy that 💚

thenewaveragebear1983 · 10/09/2026 06:58

Sounds good @Fasttrack2026. I like nutracheck for my tracking, I find when I am not on track the first thing to go is my tracking so I really try to log everything even the bad days. I have had a good run of good days so far in September which is pleasing.

weekend looming ahead, they come round quickly. I must do a couple of runs and a couple of gym sessions between now and Monday. I am trying not to drink in September which is starting to take effect now, I start to notice improvement in my sleep and other knock on positive results. Would like some weight loss but 🤷‍♀️

yesterday I did my mid week check in weigh and I was still 11.6, so maintain from last week. Official weigh in is Friday.

Food today- baked oats and yoghurt and fruit
soup, plus some sort of protein/ salad combo or a freezer portion of something
dinner is mince with fajita spices, rice and veg.

I would say at the moment I’m doing ok. Consistent days on track, gradually getting my protein up (I find this difficult) and even though I’ve not run I do still walk every day and get my 10k steps in. No alcohol in September. I haven’t managed no sugar but I feel like on the whole I have reduced it.

OP posts:
poorpaws · 10/09/2026 08:49

Good morning everyone

It’s still not going too well here. During the last couple of days I decided to up my protein so I’m having two boiled eggs at lunch and extra prawns/chicken with dinner. I’m very aware that protein is supposed to fill you and keep you on track but I can honestly say it makes no difference to me.

I’m having a real low as far as energy goes too and had a real meltdown the other day about how I’m just not coping.

I’m struggling even to maintain at the moment, but I’ll keep on trying. I do keep reading your posts, cheering you on from the sidelines but if I can just maintain throughout September, I’ll be happy.

Have a good Thursday, everyone.

HazelNotHungryLC · 11/09/2026 05:16

@thenewaveragebear1983 reading your post about tracking your intake motivated me to log my food for today! I also did a few minutes of yoga stretches this evening. Currently in bed and working on an early night (it's just gone 10pm here). I really need the sleep.

DSs birthday really ruined my weightloss, as I have gained 3lbs since last week! I'm trying to get back on track, it's just so hard 😭

@poorpaws it's hard trying to get enough protein isn't it? I actually reached my protein goal today, although not sure how accurate it is on mfp.
I find that healthy fats full me up even more than protein, so try to have a combination if I can. So for example, hard boiled egg with some mayo (and other spices/ flavours) and eat more like an egg salad filling, without the bread, or maybe wrapped with lettuce.
Or cooked chicken with avocado or cheese (or all 3!).
I also lean more towards keto on a normal basis, for my meals, usually (when I'm not tempted by the carbs), and have eaten that way since 2018, so it comes more naturally to me now.

It doesn't work for everyone, but maybe something to try and see.
Oh and lots of water! I drank loads today and ate less, so that's a success.

Fasttrack2026 · 11/09/2026 07:03

Hi Team, I'm still on board, weekend looming and looking to keep this up. I certainly feel better this week than I did last week, I think a lot of bloating has gone down in just a week, or 5 days really, so it's good motivation. @poorpaws just that you are continuing and trying and showing up here is awesome. Please be kind to yourself.
I'm quite obsessed with balancing my 20% carbs, 40% protein 40% fat right now, which is typical, I always get obsessed with a new thing, and Google is really helpful. I've been having long chats with Google about how to do that, and checking about the nutrients and so on, totally recommend 🤣
It also gives you meal plan ideas and I needed a high protein low carb/calorie side for dinner tonight, so it recommended a seasoned egg white and zucchini bake to cook in the oven alongside the salmon I'm planning to have! I'll give it a go! I'll let you know... have a great day all x

I don't post regularly - only when i hit a milestone

Have got down to 89kg - my target was 1st sept so 11 days late but better late than never

Start weight 1st sept 2025 - 124kg
Current weighr 89kg
Next target 84kg by 1st nov

Main change this 2 months is i have started the conqueror challenge. It is an exercise app where you log your activity against a challenge and it moves your avatar around a map - i am currently doing the 500 mile north coast of scotland ring. You get checkpoints and postcards at certain points, it links to google maps so you can check out your location and when you finish get a medal through the post. Bit of an extra incentive to go out for a walk.

poorpaws · 11/09/2026 08:21

Good morning everyone

Yesterday I swapped my lovely floaty thin skirt and thin blouse for jeans and a jumper, it made me very sad, autumn is definitely here. It’s very cold. Perhaps it’s not too cold for most people, but I get cold really easily.

During the first three months of this year I lost a stone (people who have been here a long time know this so I apologise for repeating), I’ve put some of it back on, but not all of it. Although I’m really struggling at the moment as you all know I would like to lose a stone in the last three months of the year, so obviously starting October. It’s going to be a lot more difficult than the first three months because it includes my birthday in November and of course the dreaded C. I need some sort of motivation to get me out of the hole I’m in and I’ve still got a few weeks to work up to starting it but Im going to try.

Whilst I am struggling, I keep thinking about the first three months of last year and how well I did, how I gave up chocolate completely and ate very healthily and it would be so good for me both mentally and physically if I could do it.

We went to our café yesterday and had chicken and chips which were delicious, but I’ve warned DP. It’s the very last time and in future for this year, it will just be a bacon sandwich and black coffee. I’m very lucky that he’s supportive and will encourage me to continue with that. It’s not a very healthy café in that they don’t sell lots of salads etc so I find the bacon which is very lean about the best alternative.

So I’m pledging here today to try really hard from 1st October for three months to do my best. This excludes a really nice meal with DD already planned for my birthday and most likely another meal which is in the pipeline during those three months as well as our café sandwich once a week.

it’s very obvious that everyone else on here is doing so well and I really feel I’m letting the side down so I’m psyching myself up for October.

Have a great Friday everyone, the weekend is very near. The only consolation is that I don’t have to to negotiate alcohol at the weekend just a mountain of chocolate to avoid.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 11/09/2026 08:37

@poorpaws that’s good that dp is supportive. I think sometimes we just need to tell them how unhappy we are , I genuinely don’t think our men realise that we actually feel so rubbish when we eat certain food. When I explain to dh that actually I like chocolate, and it’s very kind of him, but a once I’ve eaten it I feel horrible, he’s a bit more understanding of why I don’t want it.

I may be doing ok but it’s not showing on the scales today, weigh in 11.6 which is a maintain. I still ache from Mondays workout and I did a run yesterday but I felt unfit and tired. Maybe I need to resume my iron tablets and definitely I need more sleep. And less wine.

its not cold here, but it is autumnal. Crisp sunshine and dew on the ground. I’m looking forward to the weekend, my ds has his 11+ tomorrow morning so I going to mooch around the town, it’s a lovely little place not far from me and it’s full of junk shops and charity shops, I’m going to take myself for a couple of hours of pottering about and maybe a coffee shop while he is in his exam.

OP posts:
poorpaws · 11/09/2026 08:50

@thenewaveragebear1983 good luck for your son tomorrow and have a great time around your town. I would love the junk/charity shops and coffee, enjoy!

@HazelNotHungryLC I’m going to try hard boiled eggs, an M&S spread similar to mayo but with a few spices in there wrapped in a lettuce leaf, thank you for your suggestions. I’ll report back.

i’m feeling quite positive this morning as I eat my porridge with banana. It’s the evening where I Fail, after dinner and dessert that’s when the grazing starts. I’ll see how it goes tonight.

TalkToTheHand123 · 11/09/2026 14:48

My latest idea is to dance to music videos for 20mins each day. A friend who I used to know used to do it. She had an amazing figure.
