2026 the final push! Anyone at the tail end of their weight loss journey and want to lose that last stone (and a bit) with me starting in January?

happysnail12 · 24/12/2025 08:30

Setting this thread up now in preparation for the New Year.

Over the last couple of years I have managed to lose 4.5 stone going from 15st 9 to 11 stone 2. My final goal is 10 stone.

I am 5"3 and I am 41. Weight loss has definitely slowed down, but I am determined to keep going and hope that 2026 will be the year I finally reach my target!

I losely follow intermittent fasting and am going to try and be more consistent with my exercise next year.

Anyone is welcome to join me 😊

Oh no @ErmThisOne it's so frustrating! Keep going and I'm sure all of your hard work will catch up. Feel for you though, I know how demoralising it can feel 😪

After all that fiasco with buying new scales, deciding against then, sending them back and continuing on my original ones.....the bloody things have conked it! 🙈

Going to buy some new ones today. I'm thinking Renpho if anyone has any feedback on them.

I guessing there may be some difference in my weight, but praying that it doesn't push me back into the 11s! (Although probably better to know the accurate truth)

@happysnail12 how annoying! Hope you found some good scales, can’t comment on Renpho unfortunately. I’ve got OMRON Viva ones, but they are quite pricey, bought them years ago when there were way fewer options for connected scales.

@ErmThisOne Stick to it, however frustrating…. Good luck and hopefully next week will look different for you!

@kiwiane Welcome!

Im flying back today - started off well on Monday and Tuesday. Then there were cakes in the office, long days from 8am to 8pm and healthy eating went out of the window. Yesterday was a good day though, walked 36,500 steps including two hours of ice skating and 460 steps up (and down) a church tower. A couple of years ago I went up one with 100 fewer steps and felt like I was dying, this time I found it really easy which is great and a reminder that I need to stay on track now.
Flying back today. Now found out though that I need to travel again for two nights next week, and two weeks later another four days. Sounds like it’s never ending until at least Easter. It’s going to be difficult because I piled on a lot of pounds with that constant travel in the first place… They are also all locations outside of your typical tourist locations, so small hotels / no gym and very limited options food-wise.

happysnail12 · 25/01/2026 09:34

I've weighed in on my new scales this morning and luckily they are not too dissimilar to my old ones! 10st 10.6lbs 👍(Although the additional data freaks me out!)

Wow @Silverblue1985 surely all that exercise will counteract a few slices of cake!

All the travelling must be exhausting though and it's so hard to be out of routine. Well done for keeping at it 👏

I have to admit, I'm sure that part of why January has been going quite well for me is because I haven't had many plans. It's meant I can really focus on eating right and exercising. I'm sure as the winter draws to and end and the usual socialising resumes, it's going to be much more difficult!

I have had 2 people this week commenting on my weight loss. Maybe this plateau isn’t as bad as I thought. One was someone we go out with quite regularly although not since early/mid December. The other was a work colleague, although I didn’t have my oversized jumper on which makes me look bigger I suppose?

Feeling positive.

socks1107 · 25/01/2026 11:12

@happysnail12 we’ve had a slow January so I am quite pleased as I’ve been able to avoid any cheat days until yesterday.
@ErmThisOne it’s so nice when people mention weight loss and it’s complimentary.

I’ve lost another 2lbs this week so am onto the final 9/10lbs now. I may decide to go lower after that but I don’t think I will tbh. I’ll have a healthy bmi, be a nice manageable weight and am starting to feel good. I’ve had some nice comments this week.
my weight loss is quite fast for me at the moment so im cautious about setting an unrealistic goal date but excited at the same time

ErmThisOne · 25/01/2026 12:07

11.5.8 this morning. Had a fair few fruit ciders and some fried chicken and wedges last night though. Period should be done by Monday, so I am not too bothered today. We are having a roast dinner though and I will be having mash, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding.

I have a silicone omelette maker for the microwave, I need to figure out how to actually use it as I am going to change my cup of soups to omelettes at work. I get 20 mins if I am lucky, so needs to be quick and straight forward but I am hopeful that the increase of protein will help.

happysnail12 · 25/01/2026 13:47

That's great @ErmThisOne (the compliments and weight loss, not the period!). It always nice when other people notice 😊

Well done @socks1107 you are doing so well 😊👏

Just picked up some eggs, mushrooms and spinach. Will be having a controlled week!

I will also drop the crisps, even if they are only 80 cals, to just 3 days this week.

happysnail12 · 27/01/2026 07:35

Morning,

I'm a day early for my weigh in, but wanted to share a milestone.

I offcially started this journey over 2 and a half years ago (June 2023!) at 15 stone 9lbs. There's been up and downs (literally) and at times it has felt sooo slow! But as of today I have offially lost 5 stone 🥳

10 stone 9lbs this morning

2026 the final push! Anyone at the tail end of their weight loss journey and want to lose that last stone (and a bit) with me starting in January?

@happysnail12wow that's incredible going! You must be so proud of yourself. That's proper commitment!

happysnail12 · 27/01/2026 17:13

Thank you @MightyGoldBear

It hasn't been linear (there was a +1 stone blip in the middle somewhere!), but the big difference is that I stopped and re-started before gaining everything back! Previously, it would have taken me getting back up to 15/16 stone before having to start again from scratch.

This is the first time I have got back into the 10s since before my son was born (over 12 years ago!) So yes, I do feel proud of myself and so much healthier. Just need to keep it up now 😊

11.4.75

Happy to see that 4!!! I haven’t had a bowel movement in 2-3 days so might have a coffee this morning and see if I can go in the next hour. Will re-weigh if I can

happysnail12 · 28/01/2026 07:55

Yay, well done @ErmThisOne🥳

Not much change since yesterday, but just so I have logged the numbers....

Wednesday weigh-in - just over 2lbs down this week, although have had a change of scales! So who knows! I'm assuming they are more accurate, so going with it!

Well done @socks1107! 🥳 You're so close to your target now! X

Well done @socks1107!

Silverblue1985 · 29/01/2026 08:14

@happysnail12 wohoo, well done! Chuffed for you!

@socks1107 Congratulations!

I have managed at or a bit below maintenance this week, definitely easier when away in the UK. Fewer temptations than abroad I guess, as you can always get everything all the time anyway.
Italy week after next, which will be difficult, more so as I can’t eat anything with tomatoes! Then in March probably France, Austria and Germany.

I will stick to this threat, but not gaining any weight is probably a winner with all this, and I’ll have to attack the final stone properly once all the travel calms down.

happysnail12 · 30/01/2026 10:41

Wow, @Silverblue1985 that all sounds very busy!

Well done for keeping a focus regardless of all the hurdles in your way.

You're very welcome to be here. There's no time-limit on when we reach our final targets. All just in it together 😊

So, a pretty frustrating week on the scales this week. 1lb on 🙄 despite keeping to plan.

I have really upped my exercise over the last 10 days and have been trying to focus more on strengthening etc.

I've also tweaked my food to try and get more protein and read that restricting calories too much can result in muscle loss as well as fat, so have upped this slightly (although should still be well in range for healthy weight loss)

From what I've read muscles can retain water after an increase in exercise, so I'm hoping it's that. However, I'm so used to focusing on the number on the scales, it feels very frustrating. It almost makes me want to just eat very low calories, but I know rationally this isn't the healthier option (and that extra exercise cannot be a bad thing).

Sorry for the thought dump! It's just such a minefield with conflicting information! And every time I think I'm doing the right things, something comes along and says otherwise. Trying not to get to obsessed, but equally want to do what I can to be healthy.

Wednesday weigh-in

Well I am back to 11.6 again! They did show 11.2 but I moved them to my usual spot and it jumped up. Moved them back again and it stayed the same so no idea what happened there.

happysnail12 · 04/02/2026 07:34

Oh no, @ErmThisOne It is so frustrating isn't it! Fingers crossed things start moving down for both of us!
