How about losing one stone by Christmas 🌲

Clitmandu · 14/09/2025 08:22

There are 14 weeks until Christmas. I’m thinking just one pound a week would crack a stone off and make a big difference.

One pound a week is doable and not too much pressure.

I am starting today, my plan is to stop being so bloody greedy and stop the mindless all day long scoffing.

Weigh in every Sunday.

Am off to dust off the scales and weigh myself, I will report back !

Would love some company.

As others have said, I'm fine in the week, then come Friday and all bets are off. Well not all bets but I'll quite often eat out on 2 out of 3 nights and there's wine or have a ready meal as I can't be arsed to cook.

Which will be fine if I ever reach the stone I need to lose...but I need to get a handle on it now or that stone will never be lost.

RidingMyBike · 29/09/2025 15:30

I’ve lost 1kg, so now at 75kg which I’m happy about. Although I seem to have been zigzagging around between 72 and 76ish kgs for over a year now! Ideally I want to be down to 70kg by Christmas and my eventual goal is 65kg.

deeahgwitch · 29/09/2025 15:31

Sadly I’m up 4 lbs. ā˜¹ļø
I know why.
I just need to get back on track.

Slaygria · 29/09/2025 20:56

I’ll be starting tomorrow, I was 12st 8 last week, but then I went on a lovely week long all inclusive and I think I’ve put on about half a stone so will be starting around 13 stone. I’ll do my official first weigh in in the morning. I’d like to be 11 stone by Christmas Day. I’m 5ft 5. I’m going to try and calorie count and eat around 1200-1300 a day. No takeaways (I’m a sucker for a McDonald’s).

Tuesday will be my weigh day :-)

AreYouBrandNew · 30/09/2025 07:28

@deeahgwitch kerp going - good luck with getting back on track

deeahgwitch · 30/09/2025 07:31

Ah thank you @AreYouBrandNew for your kind encouragement šŸ’

AreYouBrandNew · 30/09/2025 07:33

2 weeks in today and I’m at 13st 7. 5lbs down

Hoping to keep 800-1000 calorie deficit a day till Friday.

Got a no calorie tracking day planned for Sat as meeting old friends which will involve food sugar booze

Crazybooklady · 30/09/2025 09:15

I have been very disheartened as the scales weren’t budging at all even though I was calorie counting ,doing 14k steps a day & drinking lots of water. Weighed myself this morning & I’m down 4lbs so it must be the whoosh effect everyone talks about. I’m very happy, I’m now 11 stone, I cannot wait to see the 10 stone range on my scales again.

šŸ™ˆšŸ™ˆšŸ™ˆ had a McDonald's
Back to it today with some extra exercise in!

I can't wait till I'm in a better weight range that having treaty food doesn't feel like such a set back!

No, don't punish yourself with extra exercise. Get back to normal routine

AreYouBrandNew · 30/09/2025 10:45

@MightyGoldBear good luck with getting back on track.
sometimes you need the treat food! If you can do it within calorie budge that helps. Otherwise just start fresh and be kind to yourself

AreYouBrandNew · 30/09/2025 10:47

@Crazybooklady well done! Good news on the whoosh. Its definitely a thing esp if you are tracking/walking.

CautiousOptimist · 30/09/2025 11:50

Well done everyone, some fantastic losses and inspiring determination on this thread. It’s helping to keep me motivated, honestly!

Slaygria · 30/09/2025 12:52

First weigh in and 12st 12 today, so only put 4 pound on on holiday which honestly is some sort of miracle because I ate everything in sight. Starting today and looking forward to weighing in next Tuesday!

AreYouBrandNew · 30/09/2025 16:48

@CautiousOptimist its happening isn’t it! Even if we can keep a few of us on track it will be good.

Harrysmummy246 · 30/09/2025 17:00

Run and then weights done after a recovery from racing yesterday - just trying to figure out plan for next few months with the rowing coach now

Was quite awesome to be able on a call arranging life insurance today, when my weight from the medical, about 6 weeks ago was 88kg, I could say 'actually 87 now'

MiddlingMarch · 30/09/2025 20:28

AAARGH I've done what I always do - lose a very small amount of weight and then allow myself to have a little snacky snack treaty treat and I've now had two chocolate bars.

I really am bored of myself now. Tomorrow will be better (have eaten the chocolate now) but I wish I had more self control.

RidingMyBike · 30/09/2025 20:30

Hormones are driving me mad. It’s so much easier to lose weight at some parts of the month rather than others. Plus I’m perimenopausal so it isn’t even predictable!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/09/2025 20:32

Hi, I am late to the party but I’d love to join you, a pound a week would be perfect šŸ‘Œ I have lost about 3lbs in September but the month ends with 2 birthdays in our house so we’ve had 4 days of celebrations and i’ve probably regained it all now 😢 I bob around between about 11st7 and 11, but I’d like to get around a stone off, and keep it off.

September has been really interesting for me because, after really struggling with anxiety all summer, I decided to try an elimination diet and cut out all gluten and grains. Oh my, well, I cannot believe the difference. I tried a few gluten free grains (rice, porridge) and they also give me blood sugar crashes and headaches. So October will be a month of really clean eating for me. I also have not drunk alcohol in September and am going to continue in October. But other than those cuts, my diet is going to be hearty winter food, lots of veg, and try to get my health back up. I’ve had no end of minor health problems all year.

other than the diet, I want to make the most of the autumn weather and get some running in, and a few bootcamp before it gets cold and miserable.

TeamToeBeans · 30/09/2025 20:32

Ah, don’t beat yourself up @MiddlingMarch. I did so well yesterday, and instead of continuing the momentum, I had a frosted cupcake and a chocolate bar today. (A lady at work had been on a cupcake decorating course, and was so proud that I didn’t have the heart to refuse. I did quietly scrape off some of the frosting though.)

Daffydoll · 30/09/2025 21:02

I’ve weighed in at 12st today so a loss of 3lbs from 18 Sept.
No change in diet just walking at least 15k steps a day.
I’m going to change diet this week as well. Just want to get under 12st as my first target!

ChickenDinnerChecky · 30/09/2025 21:08

Can I join!?

I’m 49, 5ft 6 and weigh an awful lot more than any of you! I have a high BMI too. I have a long way to go but want to shift some weight to be healthier and because I’m having a big 50th party next year!

I’m also perimenopausal and have ADHD and struggling to control what I drink.

I've just joined up with a fitness coach at my local GP surgery (yesterday) and am having a night off the booze tonight.

I need to do this as have a fatty liver :(

AreYouBrandNew · 30/09/2025 21:51

@ChickenDinnerChecky welcome! And hi to everyone else who has joined this week

Everyone welcome - we’ve got a real mix of target weight loss (eg I need to lose close to 3.5st but starting with 1)

just here to support everyone and anyone to stay on track as much as possible and celebrate any weight loss/milestones.

only thing that I don’t think we cover is WLI.

AreYouBrandNew · 30/09/2025 21:52

@Daffydoll well done!

AreYouBrandNew · 30/09/2025 21:58

@Clitmandu I’ve been wondering how you are getting on - have you managed to keep on track this month?
