How about losing one stone by Christmas 🌲

Clitmandu · 14/09/2025 08:22

There are 14 weeks until Christmas. I’m thinking just one pound a week would crack a stone off and make a big difference.

One pound a week is doable and not too much pressure.

I am starting today, my plan is to stop being so bloody greedy and stop the mindless all day long scoffing.

Weigh in every Sunday.

Am off to dust off the scales and weigh myself, I will report back !

Would love some company.

Please can people not get discouraged if the scales are up, especially if only weighing once a week. It fluctuates for most people, especially women.
Really we need to be thinking about a long term month on month trend

I am 11st 9. I don’t usually weigh myself but have been feeling curvier and rounder than usual, plus having had years of being a size 10-12 After a recent shopping trip I am very definitely a size 14 now.

Never really like exercise or had much tolerance for it, but all went down hill in the last year now kids are both in secondary school so don’t walk to and from primary school twice a day, started a desk job and find I have no will power in the evenings to scoff when I am bored or have a glass of wine. Oh and perimenopause!!

would love to lose a bit of weight by xmas - for me I will be limiting myself 1 glass of wine on a Saturday night, reduce the treats available in the house, have herbal teas and reading my kindle in evenings so I am distracted, I have a 10 minute yoga/exercise routine in the mornings and will walk more again.

Just finished my second ever PT session. She weighed me & took all of my measurements during our first session, which was humbling to say the least! Jumped on the scales this morning & was 3lbs down 🄳 Now the question is, will I sabotage everything now that the weekend has arrived!!!

Well, I can confirm that I have just cracked open a bottle of wine! 🤭 Hey ho, it's all about balance!!

I'm not drinking tonight as I'm racing 🚣again tomorrow, travelling to London this time so away from home at the mercy of premier Inn for evening meal.
Will be leaving at 6am so have packed yoghurt/granola/fruit and coffee. All bets are off regarding a bacon butty after and then I shall weigh again on Monday
If I've lost great, if it's round about the same, that's also ok as it's lower than it was a couple of weeks ago and the jeans I'm wearing today feel to fit a bit better.
Last big race for a while so eating patterns will be able to be a bit less random. Hopefully make some good progress then

NotnowMavis · 27/09/2025 21:31

I find that pretty much the only way I can successfully lose weight now I’m post menopausal is lowering carbs. Which makes for some unusual meals; breakfast today was two rashers of bacon and some mushrooms, lunch was a prawn wrap but I only had the prawns and salad filling and tea was spaghetti bolognaise and I only had the bolognaise. Bit weird. We’ll see if it makes any difference.

AreYouBrandNew · 27/09/2025 22:01

@Harrysmummy246 good luck with the race!

@Triceratopmeup well done with the pt, good to have a bit of something you like (wine!) if it works for you

@NotnowMavis how are your energy levels? I’m peri and they are on the floor. Need carbs to keep my head above water

AreYouBrandNew · 28/09/2025 07:27

My weight is holding at 13st 8 which is 4 (almost 5 lbs) down. The first few lbs are usually easy for me. Real loss starts now

milestones..

the 12s - only 8lbs away (and this month has whizzed past, hoping to see some movement by end of Oct)

12st 10 post giving birth weight of my last child some years ago (It’s my birthday in late Nov, can I get there)

12st 2 the weight when I bought most of my current clothes so they might actually fit (the dream by Christmas)

heidipi · 28/09/2025 09:20

Good morning I’d love to join please! I’m 56, 5’3 and 10st this morning - all round my middle these days. I need to get back on the couch to 5k, pack in the meal deals, wine during the week and general emotional eating. I did ok on MyFitnessPal before holiday earlier in the year but it has all gone to pot - til today! Am aiming for long term so will be slow - Good luck everyone 😊

AllBranEater · 28/09/2025 10:03

Here's my WI, I'm pleased:
14/09/2025 16:16 My current weight is 168 lb
21/09/2025 165.25 is 2.75 lb loss
28/09/2025 163.25 is 2 lb loss

NotBendyEnough · 28/09/2025 10:59

I'm 10st 8lb today. 1lb loss. I did pilates, walking and some stretching routines at home so feel like I made a good start, even though my diet wasn't brilliant.

MiddlingMarch · 28/09/2025 11:12

Holding at 87kg which is 1.5kg loss this week.

Will keep on keeping on.

AreYouBrandNew · 28/09/2025 11:48

@AllBranEater @NotBendyEnough @MiddlingMarch well done on your losses, hooray!!!!

Pixie2015 · 28/09/2025 19:02

down 1-2 pounds this week but had a sickness bug so couldn’t eat 2 of the days so think that dropped my metabolism to very low as was just in bed. Tomorrow fresh start so will try to be all motivated again. Thinking about signing up to a virtual running event to give me something different to try in october. good luck everyone.

FiveShelties · 28/09/2025 22:02

I have lost 2 pounds this week and very pleased with that. Definitely need to knock the wine habit on the head as I do really well until Friday evening and then undo the good work from earlier in the week.

Busy social week this week, with four different evenings out and all involve dinner! Have a great week everyone.

@FjordFancier are you me?! I am literally a weekday angel & a weekend demon! 😈
I exercise, I weigh out all my food & then the weekend comes & I fall into a wine trough! Thankfully, I don't want to eat alongside the sauvignon blanc, otherwise I would be screwed!!

Triceratopmeup · 28/09/2025 23:26

Sorry the above was supposed to mental @

Triceratopmeup · 28/09/2025 23:29

Disregard the above, I meant to tag @FiveShelties ... blame my sausage fingers!! Sorry @FjordFancier

FiveShelties · 29/09/2025 01:18

@Triceratopmeup it is so annoying and I can't blame anyone else šŸ˜‚

Harrysmummy246 · 29/09/2025 08:22

I have maintained over this week but I am ok with that as it's a kg below where I thought I was. Training will resume as normal and eating on a more normal pattern (less short term carbs before racing etc)

Goal is to have more fruit and veg with meals.

ClaredeBear · 29/09/2025 09:07

Massive congrats to all of you who lost! I maintained but I’m not going to beat myself up as I’ve raised my game with my training this week, and put plenty of good habits in place, so I’ve got to be heading in the right direction, right? Here’s to next week.

TeamToeBeans · 29/09/2025 12:25

Hello, room for another one?

I’m 5’7 and exactly 11 stone, as at this morning. I’m 48 so I assume I’m in perimenopause, although my periods are showing no signs of fucking off! I’d like to get back under 10 stone, but as with so many others, that same 3-4 lbs keeps coming and going.

I’ve been very fortunate over the years, that I’ve never had to worry about my weight. Apparently now I do, and I don’t like it! I eat fairly healthily, I like cooking so plenty of protein and veg, and don’t eat much sugar or refined carbs, so there’s no obvious easy win there - other than alcohol. I guess I have a glass or two of something most nights, so that’s what I’m cracking down on.

Lunch today was salad and a hard boiled egg.

Thunderthighs89 · 29/09/2025 13:38

LOVE this idea!!! What apps are you using to track?

AreYouBrandNew · 29/09/2025 15:20

I’m using Cronometer which is pretty good. Haven’t fully tested photo logging yet but it’s connected to Apple health which I find helpful
