How about losing one stone by Christmas 🌲

Clitmandu · 14/09/2025 08:22

There are 14 weeks until Christmas. I’m thinking just one pound a week would crack a stone off and make a big difference.

One pound a week is doable and not too much pressure.

I am starting today, my plan is to stop being so bloody greedy and stop the mindless all day long scoffing.

Weigh in every Sunday.

Am off to dust off the scales and weigh myself, I will report back !

Would love some company.

Doesn't entirely undo the coffee shop stop or the ice-cream the night before but still a positive choice. I'll weigh tomorrow or Monday round a complicated set of logistics to do with seeing DH dad with ds and memorial tree planting that had to be Monday so we have to take two vehicles so ds and I can get back for school and appts.

Didn't row yesterday as I had sports massage and felt like I'd been run through a mangle. Today is said trip to see DH dad . Food will be whatever it is and try to make a wise choice if available. Hoping to exercise tomorrow but depends a little bit on DS and DDogs
Food wise tomorrow, have promised DS brunch at the boat lift if he'll walk with me and dogs then he's planning an elaborate tray bake with salmon, rice and veg that I have to construct from the nuggets of information he will give me.....

I’m down another 2lb over the last two weeks, which is encouraging - 9 lb to go before Christmas. Went to the osteopath yesterday to be beaten up - sore at the time but I feel better today.

NotnowMavis · 18/10/2025 11:54

I had an ok week too, down 1lb which seems a bit measly for how hungry I’ve been! Avoided alcohol apart from a beer last night when I got in from playing short tennis.

Silverblue1985 · 18/10/2025 20:03

Weighed in this morning and down 1.5kg from last Saturday. It was a maintain then though, and suddenly a kg less a couple of days later, so I’m probably at my usual average of 700g a week.

I haven’t moved much all week with my cold, but had a couple of days of eating less than normal, so that must have evened itself out.

Bigger win - the scales say my visceral fat level has also reduced again (it’s an OMRON scale which displays this in levels, I started with a 9, which was still in the normal range even though I was obese with a BMI of 35 and a body fat percentage of 49%. It’s now a 4 (and body fat 35%). No idea how accurate it is, but I just use the trend).

I have been out today as feeling a bit better now, only 12k steps (and that wasn’t hiking but walking around a city and through charity shops) and I’ve eaten close to my maintenance calories.

Silverblue1985 · 18/10/2025 20:07

@AreYouBrandNew I hope you feel better soon!
@thenewaveragebear1983 onwards and upwards - might just be the scales! Fingers crossed for a loss next week.
@Harrysmummy246 Hope the tray bake works out!
@CordeliaNaismithVorkosigan That’s great, congrats on your loss!
@NotnowMavis Congrats on your loss - 1lb is good and the pounds lost will soon add up!

AreYouBrandNew · 18/10/2025 22:27

Thanks! Trying not to feed a cold.

Managing to stay reasonably on track with calories through some social stuff. Not much exercise though.

Still reading WLI thread with interest. Using the mantra .. would I eat this if I was on mounjano šŸ˜‚

AreYouBrandNew · 18/10/2025 22:30

@Silverblue1985 great news on your NSV

@CordeliaNaismithVorkosigan @NotnowMavis great news on the losses

AreYouBrandNew · 18/10/2025 22:31

@thenewaveragebear1983 keep going. Might be almost time for a whoosh

MiddlingMarch · 18/10/2025 22:55

Currently averaging approx 20,000 steps and one portion of chips a day whilst on holiday. Must even out, right?

Another week to go.

Crazybrainlady · 19/10/2025 07:52

Hi all, well done everyone on their dedication so far. Some great results!

Well I'm 3 pounds down after week 1 - BUT I imagine some is water weight?! I worked very hard beginning of the week but definitely get less strict as the week goes on. Gotta work on that. Considering 5 2 to offset that although I'm not sure I can face it 🤣 I'd also like to try to fit some time in to start running (well learning to run) to offset some calories but it's hard to fit in - I'm a childminder so my day starts very early and no option to go over lunch. So really I probably need to go as soon as the kids go home but then it's dinner, bath and bed for my own kids and then I'm done! In the meantime I'm trying to up my steps over my working day instead.

I've been pretty good with wine, I think the extra little bits might be more of an issue and definitely my "it's the weekend" mentality. Although I'm very pleased that I bought cakes for my husband and kids yesterday and didn't even blink at not having one - decided getting back in my leggings was more worthwhile! Haven't had that mentality in a long time.

Good luck all next week!

AreYouBrandNew · 19/10/2025 11:04

@Crazybrainlady well done - good to get the first week loss even if it’s water weight

That does sound tricky timing wise to add in running. Steps are always good though

FjordFancier · 19/10/2025 11:07

I hope everyone is okay and having a good weekend.
Managed to claw my way to 9.10
it’s been quite tricky but I can now do my jeans up again woo hoo!!
now to stay focused and not let it pile back on.

Pixie2015 · 19/10/2025 18:38

got weighed a day early and maintained- now have another cold so been comfort nibbling over weekend - motivated to keep going tomorrow - fingers crossed for good week to everyone

TeamToeBeans · 19/10/2025 19:03

I haven’t done brilliantly this weekend - I haven’t gone mad, but I’ve had a fair few biscuits and some wine. I’ll make some healthy lunch to take to work tomorrow, probably tuna salad, and drink lots of water. I might even aim for <500 calories, just to kick start the week.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 19/10/2025 19:20

@TeamToeBeansi’m considering this, I have not gone crazy this weekend but have eaten my maintenance calories however I seem to gain even when I eat maintenance so šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

it’s been so wet and miserable here, we just went to the shop to get out the house. Kids chose some sweets, I chose some raspberries that were reduced to 69p, but I really really really really wanted some chocolate. šŸ«

Silverblue1985 · 19/10/2025 21:52

@MiddlingMarch Enjoy the rest of your holiday!
@Crazybrainlady Well done! Always good to start with a decent loss!
@FjordFancier Congrats on your scale and non-scale wins!
@Pixie2015 Good luck for next week!
@thenewaveragebear1983 I think it’s so difficult to judge exact maintenance calories, it’s a bit of trial and error. I feel it’s always better to allow yourself a bit of chocolate when craving it - otherwise it just builds up to a binge (for me at least). Same if I try and have something else first, I’ll still want the chocolate so just end up eating the other stuff AND the chocolate! There will not be a life without sweet stuff for me so I might as well learn how to incorporate it.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 20/10/2025 20:10

Well I actually had an ok day today, I actually can’t remember the last time I ended the day with 200 calories to spare. I have been hungry all day 🤣 I had a very quick lunch of 2 eggs and for dinner I had wedges and chilli and loads of veg.

I’m feeling very tired after a really rubbish few nights sleep, and I couldn’t face a run in the pouring rain this morning. I will try to go for one tomorrow after work. I’m in the office tomorrow so I will take some leftover chilli and fruit with me, so hopefully should have a reasonable day tomorrow too

Slaygria · 20/10/2025 20:20

I think I might have gained this week. I’ve had McDonald’s, a Chinese and a KFc and chocolate each day! It’s been really stressful week. I need to reign it in!

blizymitzy · 20/10/2025 20:41

I appear to have lost all control since Saturday
currently eating a slice of fruit cake !
I’m doing a 4 mile walk tomorrow morning and will be back on track!

AreYouBrandNew · 20/10/2025 22:18

@thenewaveragebear1983 good news on the calories but I agree too damp for a run!

@Slaygria and @blizymitzy good luck with getting back on track. It’s never a straight line.

ok day here after a bit of feeding my cold over the weekend. Managed around 900 calorie deficit.

I’ve felt a slight change in habits where I have been properly hungry and then really savoured food. Much better than shovelling and eating when not hungry out of habit.

FreeFe · 20/10/2025 22:31

Hi all, am I too late to join you? You seem dedicated and I need a bit of a push myself: I am starting with at 79 Kg, trying to keep to certain calories and not snack in the night

AreYouBrandNew · 21/10/2025 07:12

@FreeFe welcome, always space for new people!

AreYouBrandNew · 21/10/2025 08:07

Scales tipped at 13st 5 this morning which makes me half way to the stone loss, hooray!

It’s taken 5 weeks which I think is a good pace

working towards the 12s

thelongandwindingwind · 21/10/2025 08:47

Can I join albeit a week late?

I’m 5’8 and 11 stone. Want to lose this final stone and Christmas is my goal!

Silverblue1985 · 21/10/2025 10:56

@thelongandwindingwind and @FreeFe Welcome and good luck to you!
@AreYouBrandNew Yay! Congratulations to you, great achievement! Not far to go until the 12s!
@Slaygria and @blizymitzy Good luck getting back on track!

Finally it’s better outside and I’m aiming to go out at lunch. Eaten too much for losing the last couple of days, still blocked nose, tiredness, busy at work and long days… But that’s OK.
As I’m travelling Friday and not back until Thursday evening the week after I’ll give the scales a miss until then.
