How about losing one stone by Christmas 🌲

Clitmandu · 14/09/2025 08:22

There are 14 weeks until Christmas. I’m thinking just one pound a week would crack a stone off and make a big difference.

One pound a week is doable and not too much pressure.

I am starting today, my plan is to stop being so bloody greedy and stop the mindless all day long scoffing.

Weigh in every Sunday.

Am off to dust off the scales and weigh myself, I will report back !

Would love some company.

some great results - well done everyone

Silverblue1985 · 07/10/2025 22:19

@AreYouBrandNew - good luck for your run at the weekend! Sounds like you are well-prepped.

@KrazyboutKillian well done on your loss! Don’t get too strict on yourself if it works as it currently does!

@thenewaveragebear1983 I hope things settle again for you.

AreYouBrandNew · 08/10/2025 12:31

Found the scales post bathroom renovation and I’m holding at 13st 8lbs which I’m happy with. Working on a bigger calorie deficit this week

TeamToeBeans · 08/10/2025 15:36

I weigh every day, it’s the only way I can keep myself on track. Today, I’m exactly 150lb - 4lb less than when I joined the thread, I think it’s been two weeks. The last time I weighed this low was in February, so I’m pleased with that.

Today has been sooooo slooowwwww at work, and I’ve been thinking about snacks all day. It’s only the pull of getting under 150lb that’s keeping me strong!

neveradullmoment99 · 08/10/2025 16:15

Ive lost 3lbs this week but ive not felt well and was eating very little.

CordeliaNaismithVorkosigan · 08/10/2025 16:49

May I join? I had a lovely summer eating and drinking everything I wanted and now my clothes are too tight. I got a grip in mid-September and have lost 3lbs, so a stone by Christmas sounds achievable - that would get rid of both the summer half stone and the probably-peri-menopausal half stone that previously crept on.

Jollyjoy · 10/10/2025 10:50

Wow great losses! I finally got round to weighing so was 74.3kg. I’d be happy to get to 70kg but 67kg would get me more safely out of overweight bmi.

I had a bit of an epiphany today that I don’t tend to gain loads of weight unless a big blow out period like Xmas, just a few lbs up then down here and there, so my normal diet isn’t bad for a maintenance diet. Meaning, I only need to endure deficit for a particular time frame and then can eat fairly normally. I think that’s my biggest mental hurdle, feeling I need to move into a restricted way of life in an ongoing way. If that makes sense? Completely obvious really but I’ve not thought of it like this. So definitely a stone or big chunk of it by Xmas and then not many blowouts I hope is enough to maintain the weight I’d like.

AreYouBrandNew · 10/10/2025 16:15

@Jollyjoy sounds like you are in a good place for a long term plan

how is everyone looking for the weekend. I’m keeping my steps up and back on track today for 5-600 calorie deficit

AreYouBrandNew · 10/10/2025 16:16

@neveradullmoment99 hope you are feeling better

Silverblue1985 · 10/10/2025 19:20

I’ve weighed this morning and not lost a gram. Still had the usual calorie deficit - maybe another plateau, I really struggled in the high 70s as well, so I’m sure t some point it’ll shift again. My body fat percentage, however, it’s the lowest it’s been. Still 35%, I know it isn’t accurate, but I was at 45% in March (and would have been higher in Jan) so something is clearly still happening.
If nothing moves next week I might just eat maintenance for a couple of weeks.

@AreYouBrandNew Hopefully going out walking! Some engineering works to consider, but usually doing somewhere between 40k to 60k steps over the weekend. Really sedentary today though as only managed a 15 minute lunch break and only just logged off.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 11/10/2025 11:11

Can I join? I lost around 8 lbs at the start of the year and was determined to lose more but plateaued.. then I took on a new role in September that was soo stressful and I began binge eating daily. I have a new lumpy tummy shape and I can't face the scales yet. My size 16 clothing is too tight and i just realised my winter coat won't zip up anymore... any loss at all would be welcome. I crave chocolate all the time, I'm eating two or three bars a day and could eat 20 so I already feel I'm battling with myself enough. It's so hard.

I’ve never thought of it like that before-you are so right! I’m like you, can normally maintain give or take a pound or two so this makes maintaining at goal weight much more achievable!

AreYouBrandNew · 11/10/2025 14:08

I got distracted yesterday reading some of the WLI threads. Some inspiring stories in there. Happy to try myself though without the pen.

I did see the Renpho scales though. They look amazing. Will they help with weight loss. Or just add more info to the horror show fat to muscle ration 🤪

Pixie2015 · 11/10/2025 19:27

Another pound down so 3Ib loss in 3 weeks - going to try and keep it up but it’s very hard especially on a night. going to have my first alcoholic drink in weeks tonight to celebrate- good luck next week everyone x

Silverblue1985 · 11/10/2025 22:33

Well done @Pixie2015 and enjoy your drink tonight!

@AreYouBrandNew I have some OMRON scales (had them for quite a while) which show your body fat and muscle percentage. It’s probably hugely inaccurate, but I can see if the trend is right. (And it’s really the trend as it can differ quite a bit even day to day, depending on so many things)

@Dontlletmedownbruce Welcome and good luck! Chocolate cravings are so hard, I found Snack a Jacks chocolate rice cakes helpful. Also dark chocolate (I like the Waitrose nut and raisin one) as I find a square is enough, while I can’t stop if I have sweeter chocolate. Ehrmann chocolate protein puddings are also really nice (and the mousse), I don’t care about the protein labelling, but they have relatively little sugar (obviously sweeteners), and a huge pots for around 180kcal or so. I have them as dessert when I’m really craving sweet. No, it’s all not healthy, but I will never be able to stop wanting sweet stuff so I manage it this way - and obviously all in moderation and planned in. (For others it’s a glass of wine or whatever - I don’t drink any alcohol so don’t feel bad that this is ā€œmyā€ thing).

Hi all, bit late to the party but can I please join? I could do with losing a stone - I've been on and off for at least a year, going up and down and then back up again. I'm now 10'10 so the heaviest I've ever been and a lot of my clothes look rubbish. I just can't seem to maintain the will power or desire so do okay for a few weeks and then fall off again for months. I'm 41 so aware it's only going to get harder if I don't do something soon.

Wine is one of my biggest downfalls - I'm definitely going over calories with a huge glass or two most nights and then terrible choices after drinking. I'm also mainlining dairy milk. So the first few steps are cutting chocolate out and wine right down. I also intend to calorie count, up protein and move more.

Hoping to be a stone done by Xmas! Feeling inspired by everyone's progress so far.

I felt absolutely dreadful yesterday after drinking on Friday (first drink since end of August) and my sleep has been terrible as well, I felt like I woke on every sleep cycle last night and slept on a knife edge of really wakeful restless sleep. I just walked the dog and decided that instead of my long list of jobs I am going to do a bit of self care, a hot bath, hair mask and moisturiser. I even put the underfloor heating on in the bathroom (lah-di-dah, check me out!)

I have absolutely got to knuckle down and eat better though. For 2 reasons, 1 being I am sick and tired of feeling like this, my clothes don’t fit and I feel like such a failure, I am going to end the year weighing more than when I started despite ā€˜dieting’ all year; and 2) I am just so tired and worn out all the time, something is not agreeing with me and I can’t go on like this. I feel better since cutting out gluten but something is still giving me horrendous palpitations and last night I felt like my skin and scalp were crawling, like an allergy to something.

and it’s now 9 (?) weeks til Christmas? 9.5? Time enough to make a proper actual dent in it if I try hard. More veg, drink water, get to bed earlier, and just generally improve my overall diet and the quality of what I eat.

AreYouBrandNew · 12/10/2025 12:15

@thenewaveragebear1983 here to support. Definitely time to get some good habits in for next few weeks. Do you have any other sense of what is causing health niggles?

I’m stuck at 13st 8lbs - was DHs birthday this week so there was cake in house which impacted calorie deficit.

But in NSV (learning lingo from WLI threads šŸ˜‚) ..Powered through 10k run this morning - compared to May I took 3 mins off time and got average heart rate down from 167 to 160 so double win

back on some proper deficits for next weeks through to my birthday at end of Nov

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/10/2025 12:38

@AreYouBrandNew they have tested me for all the usual - thyroid, peri, iron, b12, cortisol, diabetes…. All my results are ā€˜normal’ but some are low in the range so I am really focussing on building up my iron count, my b12 and to be honest I am just having to be kind to myself - like today, I wanted to go out for a run but instead I have made soup and having a chilled day.
well done on your 10km šŸ‘

Harrysmummy246 · 12/10/2025 15:16

I've rowed 15km, and 10 yesterday. That's the good headlines

Bad headlines- ummm yes, food, it keeps happening

NotBendyEnough · 12/10/2025 22:10

I'm 10st 7lb today. 1lb down in the last week. I still haven't got my diet properly sorted but I'm doing OK with exercise. I'd love to be under 10 and a half stone next week.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/10/2025 06:45

Maintain for me this morning, that’s my third in a row! To be honest I probably don’t deserve a maintain given what I have eaten so I will take that. I’m off work today and going for lunch with my friend but I’ve already checked the menu, and this morning I’m going to go for a run. I’ve booked my gym classes for the week as well. Hoping for a loss this week

TeamToeBeans · 13/10/2025 07:00

150.6 lb today, slightly up but that’s not unexpected, I do relax a bit on the weekends.

Mon 29th Sept: 154lb
Mon 6th Oct: 151.6lb
Mon 13th Oct: 150.6lb

I’ve made my salad for the next couple of days’ lunches, and will boil a few eggs shortly. If I’m strict during the week I don’t mind relaxing a bit on the weekend - only a bit though! I’m still avoiding sweet things and carb-heavy foods. The approach seems to be working, so I’ll stick with it for now šŸ™‚

MercuryRising · 13/10/2025 07:08

I had fallen off the thread and the weight loss wagon. But I'm back and feeling determined to get to 12 stone something before Christmas. I weighed in at 13.13 this morning. I'm disappointed that I didn't get my head in gear 4 weeks ago but it's better late than never.
