How about losing one stone by Christmas 🌲

Clitmandu · 14/09/2025 08:22

There are 14 weeks until Christmas. I’m thinking just one pound a week would crack a stone off and make a big difference.

One pound a week is doable and not too much pressure.

I am starting today, my plan is to stop being so bloody greedy and stop the mindless all day long scoffing.

Weigh in every Sunday.

Am off to dust off the scales and weigh myself, I will report back !

Would love some company.

In the last few years I lost a parent, my marriage ended and I've had a lot of health niggles. I managed to keep on top of work and housework throughout it all but didn't have the midset for exercise and fitness. This thread is helping to keep me motivated to be healthier.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/10/2025 23:03

@NotBendyEnoughsorry to hear this. It’s sounds like you have had a really tough few years.

i have just got back from my in laws. I haven’t drunk, and didn’t really eat much as there wasn’t anything gluten free really. I ate a bit of Italian antipasti meat and cheese, a couple of mint chocolates and that was it, and drank water. It’s weird being around drinking people when you’re not, you realise how loud and ā€˜extra’ it makes everyone, even if they aren’t drunk. I do like a glass of wine but I’m really starting to not miss it at all. I did miss being able to eat nice party food though! Still, I have come in under my allowance by a big chunk today, and today was one of my ā€˜easier days’ as well so I could have had more.

tomorrow I really want to get out for a run, I haven’t been all week because of feeling a cold coming and then developing a sore throat. If it is a bit better tomorrow I will go (I promise!)

AreYouBrandNew · 05/10/2025 08:33

Good luck for any weekend weigh ins!

Harrysmummy246 · 05/10/2025 20:14

Well I've been out for afternoon tea as a celebration of 50 years of women at the rowing club (after a full century without....) and also a decent sized pasta with Ragu when I got home as I did time trials this morning and lunch basically didn't happen.

But the scales were ok this morning, and as I said yesterday, bras are fitting less snugly so there must be a whoosh some time, right?
It's either that or I finally get the big girl pants on and start tracking

Pixie2015 · 05/10/2025 21:07

Another 1 pound loss - trying to keep at it - need to up the exercise this week as finally feel over a 2 week virus. keep going everyone x

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/10/2025 21:58

I didn’t really start properly last week and then today I very foolishly made a gluten free cake as we’ve had lots of birthdays recently and I’ve not been able to have a single piece of cake 😢 so obviously today I ate loads of cake. I just went and portioned the rest up into the freezer.

anyway, it’s now 11 weeks til Xmas but probably only 10 weigh ins, and I really really have to knuckle down now and get my butt into gear. I could lose 10lbs, or I could gain 10lbs - the choice is mine, but I think I have to stop pretending to myself that it’s not my choice.

tomorrow: I’m going to try a bit of intermittent fasting, and will try not to eat until lunchtime. I have to go into the office as I am starting a new role tomorrow, so will probably take a few bits of fruit with me, then for dinner I have an aubergine parmigiana simply cook recipe, I roasted the aubergine today while I was doing Sunday lunch so all I need to do is make the sauce and add cheese. I’ve planned all my food and added it all to nutracheck. Lots of water, take my vitamins, walk the dog, and maybe go for a run.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 06/10/2025 06:56

Annoyingly, I have gained 1.5lbs this week, not a great start 🤣 however, I am incredibly hormonal and did eat a lot of sugar and rubbish last week

87.6 this morning.
It must be water retention but atfhfjfhdhdgdhdhdhfh

TeamToeBeans · 06/10/2025 07:30

Today 151.6lb
This time last week I was 154lb, so I’m pleased with that. I have relaxed a bit over the weekend, but not gone mad, so I think I can get back on it today. I’ve made a salad to take to work, and will hard boil some eggs too. I’m finding it useful to do four or five at a time, and then they’re in the fridge ready for me to just grab.

I haven’t done any exercise of any sort, but I would like to start getting 10k steps in. Even with walking to work I only manage 6-7k most days.

Have a good Monday everyone.

NotnowMavis · 06/10/2025 08:31

That’s a good way of thinking of it, @thenewaveragebear1983 , it’s my choice whether I lose or gain between now and Christmas. And the hard boiled eggs in the fridge ready to go is an excellent idea. Boiling away now ready for the week ahead.

blizymitzy · 06/10/2025 09:27

I’m 12st 2.4 this morning so 6.6lb down since September 18 th .
Absolutely thrilled!!!

MiddlingMarch · 06/10/2025 09:44

86.5 know
No movement but I didn't actually track any of my food over the weekend. Went to the cinema and had 2 scoops of ice cream but it was slightly soft and melted and all I could think about was Chunk in The Goonies when he was eating the tubs of ice cream... slightly ruined it. Plus being off sugar for 2 weeks meant it tasted v sweet and overall a bit of a waste.

Back to tracking today. I just need to stop sliding into bad habits just because I lost 2kg.

Slaygria · 06/10/2025 17:19

Got my first weigh in tomorrow morning. I was 12st 12 last Tuesday, but annoyingly I’ve started my period today so god knows what it’s going to be. I was praying for a 2 pound loss. Would still love to be 11st by Christmas Day but worried that might be pushing it.

KrazyboutKillian · 06/10/2025 20:42

@blizymitzy welll done , nearly a half stone !

Silverblue1985 · 06/10/2025 23:25

Can I join here please?

I’ve probably already had a longer journey than most on this thread as I’ve lost around 30kg since January. (Size 20 to size 10/12). So about 4.7st. Done calorie counting mainly and changing what I eat. Changed jobs to help as was travelling shedloads for work before and living a healthy lifestyle was just impossible when being away in hotels, eating out and working long days for 1/3 of the year. I am WFH full-time though (with the odd office day as needed) and with shorter days it’s more difficult to get enough walking in.

Now down to losing that last stone and could do with some company and this thread sounds perfect as I’m hoping to get close before I’m going away for Christmas (but probably won’t quite make it).

CW 10.5 stone (66.7kg)
GW 9.5 stone (60kg)

With my BMR now so much lower (and a healthy BMI) it’s now a slog.
I’m also very restricted with what I eat as I’m trying to manage bad GERD through diet alone and I’m getting bored lol.

Anyway, good luck everyone and well done on your losses so far!

lilybloomtoo · 07/10/2025 06:39

You re all so inspiring! despite calorie counting for 2 weeks I have only lost 1/2 kg. Im trying to exercise more but am a carer and struggle to find time

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/10/2025 06:41

Wow @Silverblue1985 that’s amazing weight loss, you must feel amazing! I wfh too and it’s really hard when dieting. I snack (or want to) so much more than I used to. I have a standing up desk which helps me to stay a bit more active but doesn’t really get any steps in as such.

my hormones are all going haywire, I had another night of sweats and woke up cold and drenched, and my last 2 periods have only been 2 weeks apart. I set my alarm with the intention of going out for a run this morning but I am really not feeling it now. I did go to an evening bootcamp session with my pt last night.

I feel quite uninspired by food right now, I need to do a shopping order and a menu for the week! Last week I didn’t actually cook half the things I planned!

MiddlingMarch · 07/10/2025 07:45

Weighed in - 86kg. I think the lost 0.5kg was the disappointing ice cream that hung around too long...

Just need to keep on going. I find i am better with no snacks if I don't think about snacking, so need to distract myself more in the afternoons.

Slaygria · 07/10/2025 12:25

Good morning everyone (or afternoon now). I’ve weighed in today and lost 3 pounds! Which I’m delighted about as its first week and I’m also on my period so even better.

So my current stats are:

Start Weight: 12st 12
Current Weight: 12st 9
Goal Weight: 11st
Lost so far: 3 pounds

Silverblue1985 · 07/10/2025 13:43

Thank you @thenewaveragebear1983 ! I feel so much better, though I could do with losing much more belly fat. But as I was an obese child I have long said goodbye to the dream of a flat stomach, lol!
Snacking is the hardest bit, isn’t it! I’m a big snacker, too, so just make sure I have healthier alternatives to snack on around. Though if I want chocolate then nothing else will do, so I’ve accepted that, too (and find that Snack a Jacks chocolate rice cakes tend to do the trick mostly).

Do you think you’re in peri? Hormones are awful, I’ve been on Cerazette for 20 years now to keep mine in check. Dreading peri.
Well done on the boot camp session! I’ve really only been walking, there’s a climbing centre near me now that’s just opened up, but I have never climbed and not sure I want an intro session with lots of 10 year olds who’ll race up there as they only do juniors and adults together for intros.

Did you manage to do your shop?

Oooh I’d love to join this thread please. Have been off the healthy/exercising wagon since the summer hols and prior to that I loved the support in another thread. I’ve been cutting down a bit lately but not weighed so I will tomorrow morning. Well done to those of you being disciplined - so inspiring.

AreYouBrandNew · 07/10/2025 14:07

Hope everyone is having a good week.

well done for losses @Slaygria @blizymitzy even the smaller ones @lilybloomtoo

welcome to new people @Silverblue1985 @Jollyjoy

slow progress over here, mainly due to peri hormones. Calorie deficits haven’t been great plus we are having our bathroom redone and scales have gone awol šŸ˜‚ probably a sign not to weigh in until after next period.

in better news I did a 10k run this morning in prep for actual 10k race this weekend and that went well plus burned a few extra calories. Hope I can push on to lower weigh in next week

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/10/2025 20:36

@Silverblue1985I am on HRT but not sure if it’s actually peri. I gave up gluten about 5 weeks ago and since then I have really noticed a lot of changes in a lot of my ā€˜peri’ symptoms, and have had 3 periods in that time šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø who knows? Most of the improvements have been positive but this one is a bit odd, and will not be helping my low ferritin levels.

KrazyboutKillian · 07/10/2025 21:15

2 lb down since sat !
I can’t remember which pp said , it’s your choice , to lose or to gain , and that really struck me .
I’ve cut down on all the extra bits and bobs that I somehow manage to eat , and will get stricter as I go on
