14 weeks until beachy summer holiday. If I can lose a 1lb a week that's a stone by August.

As the title says. Hoping to lose a stone by August so that I am feeling better about myself on holiday.

The reality is I have 2.5 stone to lose all together but thought this would be a good first target.

I've just had a look at my fitness pal and I've literally been yo-yoing between 15.5 stone and 11.5 stone for over 5 years!!! I follow the same pattern. Get to 11/12ish stone. Feel better about myself. Begin badly eating again. Gain weight. Repeat.

I am currently 12 st 6lbs but this time last year was a stone lighter.. I don't want to be getting back up into the 15s so I'm determined to get myself back on track.

Therefore I'm going to weigh in here every Wednesday until August (to start with). Anyone is welcome to join me along the way.

07/05/25: 12st 6lbs

@imold I've definitely found it harder as I've got older. I read that once you're over a certain age there's half a stone that you'll never shift despite what you do.

Hope it's just a myth!

WolfMother326 · 13/07/2025 09:00

How's everyone doing?
I have stayed consistent despite being frustrated last week. After I posted about it I started dropping again on the scale so now I know I need to work on being patient.
I went to a conference Fri/Sat and just ate in moderation, still enjoyed the wine and dessert but only a little of each and I walked a lot, and still went on my run.
I'm down 3 kg since starting calorie counting just over 3 weeks ago, and almost 8kg since Christmas when I started running. Looking forward to hopefully getting below 70kg at some point in August.

Littletreefrog · 13/07/2025 09:09

@WolfMother326 well done for keeping going despite being frustrated last week. I think that's the hardest part to keep going when it seems you aren't getting results despite trying hard

I'm currently in the urgent care as my foot/ankle is still incredibly painful even 2 weeks after injuring it. I have kept to the calories but haven't been able to exercise and my weight hasn't budged so it was definitely the exercising that was doing it.

happysnail12 · 13/07/2025 09:17

@WolfMother326you are doing amazingly 👏 and well done for persevering!

Oh dear @Littletreefrog I hope your foot/ankle gets better soon. That sounds awful for you. Well done for sticking to plan though. I'm sure once you are healed up things will start moving again.

It's my son's birthday on Monday so we are having/have had 3 days of family, friends and food. Trying my best, but that alongside my period this week doesn't give me much hope for a loss next Wednesday! 🙈 I'm doing my best to eat in moderation, but hard when you are surrounded by cake, Pimms and BBQ food!

First weigh in after being away for the last 2 weekends. I've put on one pound which I don't think is bad considering the stuff I've eaten when I've been away. It just means I'm back to 11 stone which is a big pyschological thing for me but I'm trying to do my 3km walk every day - even in this heat.

happysnail12 · 13/07/2025 11:55

Not too bad at all @RaraRachael and I'm sure it will soon drop back off. Well done for walking in this heat! I have literally done zero exercise this week! 🥵

happysnail12 · 16/07/2025 07:34

Wednesday weigh in....As anticipated, not a good week. 1.5lb gain 🙈 a mixture of being on my period and too much food-based socialising/celebrating. No excuses though...back on it properly again from today.

I have exactly 28 days until I go on holiday. So to meet my original target I need to lose 3.5lbs in 4 weeks.

07/05/25: 12st 6lbs
14/05/25: 12st 3.75lbs
21/05/25: 12st 4.75lbs 🙄
27/05/25: 12st 3lbs
04/06/25: 12st 1.75lbs
11/06/25: 12st 0lbs
18/06/25: 12st 0.5lbs 🙄
25/06/25: 11st 12.5lbs
02/07/25: 11st 9.75lbs
09/07/25: 11st 8lbs
16/07/25: 11st 9.5lbs 🙄

@happysnail12 that is definitely an achievable target, you can do this we are all behind you!

happysnail12 · 16/07/2025 08:24

Thank you @Littletreefrog xx

RaraRachael · 16/07/2025 09:37

@happysnail12 much the same as me but if we're away from home we don't have the same control over what we eat

Keep going. You're doing so well.

Summersunshinebliss · 16/07/2025 14:44

Hi everyone and welcome @imold

Well I am over the lurgy whatever it was and back to work. Thankfully I am finding routine much easier to stick to eating better and exercising. My weight stayed the same last week 😩 fingers crossed for a pound off this week.

@happysnail12 I feel your frustration but you have done amazingly well and I bet you enjoyed your bbq which is the main thing.

@RaraRachael well done for going out exercising in this heat 👏

@Littletreefrog I do hope your foot gets better soon. Have you seen the NHS chair exercises on YouTube? Would they be suitable for you?

Also does anyone have a sweet tooth? I like something nice in the afternoon with a cup of tea but out of ideas.

WolfMother326 · 17/07/2025 09:30

@happysnail12 you've come so far, little slips happen but if you stay focused I'm sure you can meet your goal.
@summersunshinebliss I definitely have a sweet tooth. Sometimes I have a wholemeal muffin (like a toaster muffin not the cake kind) with a tiny bit of nutella and a thinly sliced banana as an afternoon snack if I'm really craving something sweet and fruit isn't doing it. Otherwise I eat a lot of grapes, melon, pears.

I'm feeling pleased with my progress. Slow and steady despite the conference last weekend. I'm sure I'll go back up as I'm about to spend 3 days in Paris and I will definitely have pastries but I hope walking might balance it out. My goal is to get to 65 kg by early December for a big event (I might switch to the Christmas goal thread later unless everyone stays here)

Starting weight Christmas 2024: 80kg
Starting again weight 20 June: 75.2 kg
Current weight: 71.8 kg

Summersunshinebliss · 17/07/2025 10:03

@WolfMother326 oh Paris! How lovely I hope you have a fab time. Do you have much planned when you are there?

Thanks for the muffin tip. I done my food shop order last night and ordered low calorie sweet treats. Chocolate mouse, kit kats, jaffa cakes, jelly and maybe one or two other things. Oh I also order meringue nests will have that with fruit and Greek yoghurt. I am going for the little bit of what you fancy does you good idea Grin

Summersunshinebliss · 17/07/2025 11:19

Just popping back in to update my weight for this week. 2 pounds off this week Grin

Start weight 23/6/25 = 12 stone 9 pounds
Weight today 17/7/25 = 12 stones 4 pounds

happysnail12 · 17/07/2025 15:09

Well done @Summersunshineblissand @WolfMother326you are both doing so well.

I hope you have an amazing time in Paris.

I have managed to get myself back on track. One more weekend away to come and then I am hoping to be really focused over the summer holidays. On a positive note, the last few weeks have been so stressful and manic (that's not the positive bit) but despite a few blips, I haven't resorted to stress/binge eating. The pull has been there, but I've managed to avoid it, which is a big thing for me.

OP posts:
Summersunshinebliss · 17/07/2025 17:42

Thanks @happysnail12 😊

I was reading your update thinking 🤔 that's not what I would call positive 🤣
Then I got to the positive bit Grin well done on navigating tough times, I know how when lifes full on its easy to just slip back into old ways.

RaraRachael · 20/07/2025 10:40

Very disappointed to not have lost anything again this week, despite loads of walking. I'm careful about what I eat and follow Slimming World or Scottish Slimmers breakfast and lunch plans and eat a sensible dinner.

I'm really at a loss how to progress. I can't go to the gym as I don't have transport and it's expensive.

Any suggestions welcome thanks.

Summersunshinebliss · 20/07/2025 11:18

Sorry to read your post @RaraRachael Flowers are you tracking calories. How much water do you drink and how's your sleep?

YouTube has loads of free exercise videos. Maybe it's fluid retention due to the hot weather.

happysnail12 · 20/07/2025 11:29

Oh @RaraRachael I really feel for you. It's so frustrating, especially when you are clearly putting in so much effort.

I'm not sure what to suggest. I sometimes find going back to tracking absolutely everything and really focussing on staying in deficit plus fasting helps kick starts things again, but not sure if that's much different to what you are doing anyway.

Also, have you been doing your measurements? (She says having never done it myself! Despite always meaning to 🙈). And are you noticing any changes in your body/clothes? Sometimes the scales don't tell the full picture.

Sending lots of support and understanding and well done for not throwing in the towel. Hopefully, those scales will start moving for you. Xx

Littletreefrog · 20/07/2025 12:50

@RaraRachael I could have written your post at the start of this year. I've tried so hard on Slimming World and Weight watchers and got nowhere, I thought maybe I just couldn't lose weight for some reason.

I was thinking about weight loss injections but couldn't justify the unknown risk element or the price (no judgement for anyone else using them). Then I thought if I was seriously considering spending over £100 a month on injections then I could justify spending some of that on trying to lose weight a different way.

So I signed up for Nutracheck and bought myself a good set of digital scales. I also buy a calorie controlled ready meal for eating at work each lunchtime as I found this was where I ended up eating more than I should.

Now I track everything, only eat my calories on Nutracheck not the extra ones I gain through exercising and with my ready meals for lunch taking some of the brain work out of lunches at work I'm getting somewhere for once.

Keep going but maybe try a different approach if Slimming World isn't working

Coulddowithanap · 20/07/2025 12:51

You are doing so well so don't give up.

Sometimes when you stay the same weight for a few weeks but have stayed in calories goal and exercised, it's just water weight/hormones and it suddenly comes off. Hope that happens for you.

RaraRachael · 20/07/2025 15:15

Thanks for the suggestions. I will have a rethink over the coming weeks.

It's so nice having such a supportive group 😃

happysnail12 · 20/07/2025 16:12

Spurred on by all your walking @RaraRachaelI thought I'd get back out today. Persuaded my son to come out on his bike with me....and literally 5 minutes in, a bird did a massive poo on my head!!! 😭 had to go home and have a shower! 🤣 back out now with two sons in tow!

Oh no @happysnail12 . I live right by the sea and often have to avoid seagulls. Luckily they've never got me ..... yet

Littletreefrog · 20/07/2025 18:39

@happysnail12 well it is meant to be good luck so maybe it means you will bit your target before your holiday 🤞
