14 weeks until beachy summer holiday. If I can lose a 1lb a week that's a stone by August.

happysnail12 · 07/05/2025 08:12

As the title says. Hoping to lose a stone by August so that I am feeling better about myself on holiday.

The reality is I have 2.5 stone to lose all together but thought this would be a good first target.

I've just had a look at my fitness pal and I've literally been yo-yoing between 15.5 stone and 11.5 stone for over 5 years!!! I follow the same pattern. Get to 11/12ish stone. Feel better about myself. Begin badly eating again. Gain weight. Repeat.

I am currently 12 st 6lbs but this time last year was a stone lighter.. I don't want to be getting back up into the 15s so I'm determined to get myself back on track.

Therefore I'm going to weigh in here every Wednesday until August (to start with). Anyone is welcome to join me along the way.

Wednesday weigh in - so unsurprisingly a bit of a holiday gain. However, nowhere near as bad as it was when I got home! (The scales said I'd put on 8lbs!!! 😱🙈) Luckily it seemed mostly to be water weight and today I am just over a 1lb up.

Not ideal, bit that's life and I now recognise that the key to long-term success is to be able to have holidays and celebrations etc but not make that my everyday way of eating. As long as I get back on the straight and narrow then it's okay to have ups and downs.

The pattern for the majority of my life has been......Restrictive diet - Lose weight - Fall off the Wagon - Gain it all back (and more!)-Restrictive diet.

I am determined to change that, so I'm not beating myself up for enjoying my food on holiday, but now I am back, I am focussing on being healthy again.

Anyway long story short. 1.25lbs on this week. Hoping for a loss next week.

Hope everyone is doing well xxxx

@happysnail12 that's such a great perspective. I'm glad you enjoyed your holiday.

I've been clinging to healthy eating between travel, parties, family visits, trying to stay active with runs. I've basically been maintaining the same weight since Paris in July. But I'm at 71.6 and started at 80kg, so it's all good. I'm doing a charity fundraiser in September and will try to run 100k and focus on nutrition. I want to be in the 68-69kg range at some point in October. So on we go.

happysnail12 · 29/08/2025 10:29

Thank you @WolfMother326and well done for maintaining with all the extra stuff going on 👏 you've made amazing progress overall 😊

And great that you are doing the fundraising. I have done a few walking challenges for charity over the last few years and it definitely helps my motivation to exercise (as well as making money for a good cause)

Really good post @happysnail12 that's the truth of the matter it's all about balance and still enjoying life.

@WolfMother326 well done on maintaining as that's not easy especially when life is busy. Good luck with your charity training.

Checking in with a maintenance weight this week of 12 stone 4 pounds. Really glad with that after the Bank holiday and what's been a busy week. Will keep plodding on and aim for one pound this week.

Have a lovely weekend everyone

WolfMother326 · 01/09/2025 09:30

Thanks @summersunshinebliss and @happysnail12 I appreciate the encouragement. I think I'm going to take September off calorie tracking as I'm feeling extremely tired of logging food and it's been a good reminder of what to eat and what not to etc. I'll just try to eat intuitively and run a lot and if at the end of the month I've gained weight I'll start tracking again.

How's everyone feeling on this Monday, the 1st of September? Feeling committed or a bit over it?

happysnail12 · 02/09/2025 10:22

Hi @WolfMother326 sounds like a plan. I tend to do things intuitively too. Somehow makes me feel less restricted (and therefore less likely to throw in the towel.)

I have to admit though, I am feeling a little bit over it all this week. The weather is crappy, the summer holidays are nearly over 😫 and I'm feeling anxious about the end of the week as my eldest starts secondary school and I start a new job.

At times like this, food would normally be my comfort but desperately trying to find other ways of managing.

Wednesday weigh in - just under 2lbs off and back on track (mostly! 🤪)

We are all back to school tomorrow 😭 but September always feels like a fresh start for me, so hoping I can continue to create good habits and stick to a healthier way of being.

September also brings my birthday and my brother is getting married this month, so I am envisioning some bumps along the way but if I can stay focussed overall, I'll be happy 😊

Next mini goal is to move out of the 11s.

Well done @happysnail12 you've come so far!! And happy birthday month. I'm sure you'll stay on track. I hope the return to school goes really well.

I'm in the thick of it with settling my boys at reception and nursery. I have been so stressed I've returned to stress eating a bit. I ate a huge cinnamon bun on Saturday and decided to download my calorie counting app again 😄 so now I'm back on that. I ran a 10k today and lots this week. Will weigh in on Wednesday and report back if I'm still 71.5 kg (forever?) Hopefully some progress with consistency this month.

Hope everyone else is well!

Littletreefrog · 07/09/2025 20:04

Well I finally went on my holiday (it was in the UK and it rained non-stop so no bikini body needed). I didn't track, didn't go crazy but had at least half a bottle of wine a day and didn't think about calories. I've only put on 2lbs which I think is ok. Now I just need to not do my usual and think "oh well I've ruined it now might as well eat what I want".

WolfMother326 · 12/09/2025 21:33

That's great @littletreefrog, good mindset. I'm also just feeling proud that I haven't quit so far despite slip ups and planned treats.
I'm still hovering around 71.4 kg, but I do think I'm gaining muscle and losing fat as clothes are fitting differently and I feel better. Was stalled at 72.3 for most of July/August so I guess I am losing, just slowly. Will keep going.

RaraRachael · 12/09/2025 22:53

Feeling a bit more positive and happier this week so going to resume my Sundsy morning weigh ins 😁

happysnail12 · 17/09/2025 13:13

Sorry, I haven't checked in! I've been completely off the rails! 😭 New job, kids at new schools, lots of driving, horrible weather, tired and stressed (plus the excuse of having a birthday) have led to the usual emotional eating! Haven't even dared step on the scales!

I'm trying to get myself back in the right mindset but I'm struggling 😪

My brother is getting married on Saturday which is lovely, but it's almost put me in the head space of "there's no point until after the wedding" because I know there will be lots of social eating!

Rationally, I know I am sabotaging myself but finding it very hard right now.

Ah @happysnail12 I hear you about "there's no point now because I have x coming up" but I've been trying recently to change that to "If I stick to my calories until x then what I eat there won'tdo as much damage"

happysnail12 · 17/09/2025 18:41

That's exactly how I should be thinking @Littletreefrog!

I am trying my best to get back focused and have managed to "be good" today.

I guess, I'm just a bit fed up of it all.

However, I am trying to remember how much better I feel and how much I don't want to be going back to square one.

I re-joined the gym on Monday. Just need to find the motivation to actually go! 🤣

I think we are at the same stage. Now I've lost a significant amount and can see a difference I feel a bit like that should be it and I can stop trying now. Keeping motivated is a lot harder at this point.

happysnail12 · 17/09/2025 19:08

Yes, that's exactly it! But time after time, this is the slippery slope I go down 😭 As soon as lose enough weight to feel happy and confident, I get complacent and fed up and put all the weight back on!

I need to keep going and avoid repeating the same pattern!

Hi 👋

Back from my holidays with a 4 pound gain. Started back on Nutracheck today at 1400 calories a day.

New starting weight 12 stone 8
Goal weight 10 stone

Onwards and hopefully 🙏 downwards to Christmas 🎄 🤞

RaraRachael · 21/09/2025 14:07

First Sunday weigh in for ages and I'm 11.1. Quite pleased with that as I haven't been trying particularly hard recently.
I started at 11.4 so my aim is to get down to 10.4

happysnail12 · 24/09/2025 07:25

So should be back to weighing in today but my scales have run out of battery! Hope to locate some this evening so I can weigh in tomorrow instead.

I've been half back on track. Much better than I was and no major binges but still not 100% focussed!

I think once I've weighed in and given myself a start point, I'll be able to fully refocus.

Definitely finding it hard at the moment and rationally don't want to throw it all away. But the tired and emotional side of me of me is craving food and laziness alongside new work stress, travel and routines.

Well done to everyone who is keeping up with it all x

happysnail12 · 25/09/2025 07:20

Okay, found the batteries and weighed in this morning. By some miracle I haven't gained, but I'm essentially the same weight as I was at the beginning of September, so no real loss either.

I feel like I've mostly got myself back on track now, but definitely finding it harder at the moment.

How is everyone doing?
I totally fell off the routine in October.
I haven't weighed myself in weeks and think I might wait til January.
I had a running miles goal for the year that I could still meet if I get back to running regularly, so I'm going to focus on that.
I can already feel that I have very little resistance to mince pies at the moment!

Summersunshinebliss · 08/11/2025 18:23

I've totally fallen off the wagon both with counting calories and exercise. Back at my starting weight and really bloated. Will try and get back into it tomorrow and hopefully lose a few pounds before Christmas.

happysnail12 · 08/11/2025 20:37

Hi @WolfMother326and @SummersunshineblissI've had a mixed few months. Periods of completely falling of the wagon/emotional eating followed periods of being more on plan.

As a result I am pretty much where I was in September. (I was 11st 5.5lbs this morning.) So haven't gained too much but haven't lost much either.

Having completely ignored the gym for 2 months, I went with my friend last night and we are going to try and keep each other motivated. So fingers crossed that will help.

I would love to get into the 10s before Christmas but unless I can get myself in the right headspace, I don't see it happening.

Thank you for coming back on here. It's good to hear from you both x

OP posts:
Summersunshinebliss · 09/11/2025 12:55

It's lovely to hear from you too @happysnail12 it's so hard to keep it consistent. The gym should help you stay fit and remove inches. The weathers to be grim here this week and unfortunately I can't go swimming due to a blister on my foot, going to try and do a few Joe Wicks on YouTube. It's the peri menopause bloating that really gets me I constantly look puffy!
