14 weeks until beachy summer holiday. If I can lose a 1lb a week that's a stone by August.

As the title says. Hoping to lose a stone by August so that I am feeling better about myself on holiday.

The reality is I have 2.5 stone to lose all together but thought this would be a good first target.

I've just had a look at my fitness pal and I've literally been yo-yoing between 15.5 stone and 11.5 stone for over 5 years!!! I follow the same pattern. Get to 11/12ish stone. Feel better about myself. Begin badly eating again. Gain weight. Repeat.

I am currently 12 st 6lbs but this time last year was a stone lighter.. I don't want to be getting back up into the 15s so I'm determined to get myself back on track.

Therefore I'm going to weigh in here every Wednesday until August (to start with). Anyone is welcome to join me along the way.

Wednesday weigh in. Good week this week. I have been mindful of portion sizes and avoided additional snacks/extras. I've cut out bread and am trying to up the veg and lower the carbs. I loosely follow 16/8 (although can't love with a cup of tea in the morning) fasting so don't eat breakfast but have a piece of fruit at about 10.30am . I've also upped my walking. Currently feels like a sustainable way of doing things so fingers crossed I can keep going 🤞 Anyway just over 2lbs lost this week which is above target and a good start 🙂

Can I join please? My don has just announced he is getting married in 11 weeks! I’m 5ft 2 and 11 4 so I have a lot up lose but a stone would make a huge difference. I’m started tomorrow - 10,000 steps, yoga 3 times a week and no snacking initially though may have to go more hard core nearer the time.

Biscuitsneeded · 14/05/2025 21:17

Can I join you please? I started trying to lose weight 2 weeks ago. At 5 foot 6 I weighed 12 stone 6, which is too much as I'm not an especially muscular build. I'm an apple shape so my fat is not even in proportion, and I just got a pre-diabetes blood test result so I HAVE to do this! (Plus I would like to look better by August, be less unfit etc). 1st week I lost 3lb just by trying to limit calories to around 1300-1400 a day. 2nd weigh-in is tomorrow morning but I had 2 social events last weekend which slightly ruined my dieting plans so I'm not optimistic.

@happysnail12 Well done on a good loss in your first week. I seem to be a similar weight to you with similar aspirations so let's see what happens.

Thanks for the welcome. Weighed in this morning and I have put 0.1 kg back on despite being good every day except Saturday. Have a feeling this is going to be harder at 53 than it was 15 years ago!

Restlessinthenorth · 15/05/2025 06:07

Please could I join? I've got a big event 5 weeks from now. I'd really like to have shifted a stone but even 10lb would make such a difference. I weighed in on Saturday at 11.1 1/2 . I have a wardrobe full of lovely clothes that don't fit. I am certain the stone would make all the difference. Aiming for 10000 per day, lots of water and protein heavy meals

Isabelle70 · 15/05/2025 06:30

I would like to join. My weight has increased over the last 2 years by predominantly having leftovers for lunch and the portion sizes being to big so I am now having salads and soups for lunch. I only have bread at the weekend, 2 slices a day.
On 4 May 13st 4
Today 13st 1
I am not sure what weight I would like to be but to loose the extra stomach weight will be good.

Mirroar · 15/05/2025 06:38

I've overhauled my lifestyle to try and lose 15kg more (already lost 10kg since Jan). It was my birthday earlier this week though and although I enjoyed myself and don't regret taking my foot off the gas a bit I feel gross today- not about my weight but you know when you're bloated and feel lethargic because you've been eating crap? Line under it and back on it today, my general plan has been this to be sustainable but to get steady results:

10k steps min a day non negotiable

Calorie counting (works for me although some find it restrictive I actually find it helps plan) and keeping track of protein/fibre/carbs split

Making sure i drink enough water

Strength training 3 x a week

I might start running again now the weather is getting nicer in the mornings- when I do i do 3 x runs a week (1 x hill work, 1 x HIIT and 1 x longer run)

Meals generally every morning i have the same-

1 slice sourdough
2 eggs
Collagen coffee
Natural yoghurt & berries

Then something protein + high volume low calorie for lunch to keep me full through work

Dinner - usually rice and some sort of protein and veg or whatever really as long as within calories; usually have 5-600 left for dinner. Tonight having a baked potato with Chipotle chili and salad

Edit to add: current weight 94kg, target weight: 80kg

I am 5'11 so 80 will get me into the healthy weight range without being unsustainable for me longer term :)

happysnail12 · 15/05/2025 07:35

Welcome to all the new starters and well done on everyone's progress so far. It really helps to know there are others navigating healthy changes alongside me and definitely gives me a sense of accountability!

@Mirroarcan you tell me more about your strength training? I turned 40 last year and keep hearing that it's very beneficial for women as we move towards menopause etc. However, don't know where to start! I don't have a gym membership or anything.

Mirroar · 15/05/2025 07:54

Yeah sure- i had a PT at first but don't think it's necessary as so much info online! I do them at home too, just bought a cheap barbell set and dumbell set.

I do:

1 x arms
1 x legs
1 x core

Approx 45 mins each in front of the telly! I'll find the guides i use and link :)

happysnail12 · 15/05/2025 13:04

Thank you @Mirroarthat would be great x

Morning everyone, I weighed today. I'm still the same 10st. If I'm honest I haven't been great food wise. I'm away next week so I definitely won't be good 🤣 I did a few walks and workouts this week. Just finished a 20mins arm and leg workout.

Congratulations @happysnail12 on the weight loss.

happysnail12 · 16/05/2025 07:43

Well done @ilovetea14amd thank you. It sounds like you've done well with the fitness side of things and I'm sure you'll see a loss soon 🙂

Going away is so tricky isn't it. I'm spending the first week of half term (not next week but the week after) at my brother's house. Which usually means takeaways, meals out and snacking! Going to have to try my best to stay on track but not sure it will be my best week. Are you going anywhere nice?

Please can I join. I’m 45 and finding I’ve really piled on the weight in last 4 years. I’m 11st6 now and I’m only 5”2 so it’s really showing. I’m still a size 14 and was size 8/10 for most my life but I’d like to lose for health reasons.
I just feel like I don’t know where to start!

happysnail12 · 16/05/2025 14:00

@MsAnnFropeOf course. You are very welcome 😊

hello everyone! Nice to hear there’s so many of us all in the same boat, we can do it! Weighed in at 11 stone 7 this week so I’ve lost a couple of pounds. I’ve been trying to walk more and made a conscious effort not to snack in the evenings after dinner. I have found that hard as I definitley always fancy something once the kids are in bed and I’m watching tv but I’m hoping it’ll get easier! It’s my birthday in a few weeks and would love to be as close to 11 stone for that. Then hopefully down to 10 for my August holiday! Good luck everyone, keep going!!

Littletreefrog · 17/05/2025 07:06

Hi can I join? I'm just over 40, 5ft 5 and was 13st exactly mid April, I'm now 12st 6.

My plan is walk a lot more, I'm walking to work some days, long dog walks and walking ParkRun as well. I'm also trying to stick to 1200 calories and having a go on DSs weights bench in the garage although I'm not too sure I'm doing that right.

Lyn0811 · 17/05/2025 10:32

I have lost over 2 st in 10 weeks was struggling before was always able to do it before, I was diagnosed as pre type 2 diabetes so I took the matter in my own hands did my research and am now taking Mounjaro the best thing I ever did, if anyone interested I use MedExpress who are very professional and I have been very happy with how thorough they are, also they are good with their pricing, if anyone interested I have a code that gives you £40 off you first order, message me you would like the code. I am not allowed to put it on here and if you need any more info, I will happily give you a honest answer..

happysnail12 · 17/05/2025 10:44

Congratulations on your loss @Tiredbarbiethat's great. Agree with you about the temptation to snack once the kids are in bed. I'm exactly the same, whenever I have 5 minutes peace that's when the food noise is the loudest.

Welcome @Littletreefrog more than welcome to join 🙂

MookieCat · 17/05/2025 10:48

I'd love to join!

I am going on a tropical beach holiday on 13th August and would love to be able to wear a bathing suit.

I have binge eating disorder and am trying to eat just 3 meals a day and sensible portions- low carb.

I weighed yesterday and I am 12 stone 10 pounds.

For myself, I don't wish to go the injections route because I have a number of underlying health conditions (some still being investigated and not yet clear what they are) and I want to deal with the root causes of my emotional approach to food. So very keen to really deal with the core issues- hopefully once and for all.

My idea weight is about 10 stone 5 but I would be happy anywhere under 11 stone eventually.

MookieCat · 18/05/2025 07:00

Morning all!

Yesterday I had too much wine and a lovely minty slow cooked lamb but back on track today. I have a lovely ripe mango thanks to Aldi's Super Six for this week (69 pence!) and plan to have a fresh avocado and mango salad for dinner today. With alot of salad vegetables and a few cashews.

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 18/05/2025 07:14

I joined this thread and then did precisely nothing- now 11 weeks until we go away. It’s not a tropical beach holiday, we are going to France - however it will be outdoorsy and active and I would definitely like to be feeling better in my clothes and swimwear. I’m currently 11st5.5lb and I would love to be a stone lighter. My weight loss is so slow and I still feel they one weekend could see everything put back on. I’m toying with something like fast800 but I just know it’s too low calorie and not sustainable. I’ve been calorie counting but the last few weeks have been just dreadful and I have regained several of my very hard lost pounds.

I seemed to get better results when I cut my calories a bit lower, so 1200 rather than nutracheck’s suggestion of 1500. I try to eat more protein, and I really have to focus myself on getting my fibre (veg) intake up. I do like veg, I just don’t eat enough of it. So that’s my goals this week, plus take all my supplements and get some exercise. I have done something to my pectoral muscle which is causing pain in my ribs so no gym for me, but I can walk the dog and run without too much difficulty.
