14 weeks until beachy summer holiday. If I can lose a 1lb a week that's a stone by August.

As the title says. Hoping to lose a stone by August so that I am feeling better about myself on holiday.

The reality is I have 2.5 stone to lose all together but thought this would be a good first target.

I've just had a look at my fitness pal and I've literally been yo-yoing between 15.5 stone and 11.5 stone for over 5 years!!! I follow the same pattern. Get to 11/12ish stone. Feel better about myself. Begin badly eating again. Gain weight. Repeat.

I am currently 12 st 6lbs but this time last year was a stone lighter.. I don't want to be getting back up into the 15s so I'm determined to get myself back on track.

Therefore I'm going to weigh in here every Wednesday until August (to start with). Anyone is welcome to join me along the way.

I’ve had a really crap few weeks, and it’s definitely showing on the scales. With only one week til my holiday part of me is just thinking sod it, but I know I will feel much better if I don’t so I am trying very hard to get back in track and stay there. At least the sun is out today, yesterday it was cold and wet and I just thought well I might as well try for summer 2026 now! I’ve been really under the weather and had antibiotics and my period is due which also isn’t helping.

I often do an August/ September reset but I think definitely this year I will, with a month off drinking and I think I’m going to try to really clean up my diet and boost myself up.

happysnail12 · 03/08/2025 19:08

It's so frustrating when things stall but keep going @Summersunshinebliss. Ive had a few weeks where that's happened then suddenly I have a bit of a whoosh. Fingers crossed this happens for you too.

And don't give up @thenewaveragebear1983 an August/September reset sounds like a great idea. Obviously enjoy your holiday but I bet you will feel much better if you have a bit of a healthy focus before you go. (I know I definitely feel less bloated and sluggish when I am on track - even if nothing shows on the scales).

I've had a terrible weekend food wise too! (Bloody mother in law sabotaging me with her delicious cooking! 😉) But going to try and get myself back on track as of this very moment.

My husband is away a lot of next week and I can already feel the temptation to binge eat. I'm not sure where it stems from, but as soon as I have the opportunity to eat without anyone knowing, the temptation creeps in! It's ridiculous, because in reality I really don't want to ruin all my progress.

I'll have to keep posting here to keep myself accountable!

I'm not sure where it stems from, but as soon as I have the opportunity to eat without anyone knowing, the temptation creeps in! @happysnail12 this really resonated with me as I am the same. If I happen to be in the house by myself the temptation to raid the cupboards mindlessly eating whatever junk food I can find without thinking or actually being hungry is so strong.

I don't know if it's because the moment anything remotely special such as crisps or biscuits was in our house as a child I had to be very quick to get some before my brother's ate it all. I have to remind myself I could buy myself crisps or chocolate whenever I want should I want to so there is no need to binge eat just because the opportunity arrises.

happysnail12 · 03/08/2025 20:34

@Littletreefrog it's so interesting really isn't it? Such a huge percentage of my issues with food/weight are psychological/linked to childhood. Food has always been linked to emotions for me (good and bad) and I definitely have memories of sneaking food as a kid/teen and secretly eating.

I feel like my husband going away is almost like a free pass to eat without judgement (part of me is almost excited and mentally planning what I can binge on!) and yet as you said...I am a grown adult - if I want to eat and buy junk, then I can! It's such a strong and engrained urge but I'm trying to notice it and actively make different choices! Hopefully writing it down will help 🙏

@happysnail12 well done! And omg your last post resonates! I’ve had a really stressful period at work and have absolutely fallen off the no booze, exercise wagon. I’m looking to reset in September when this bloody project is finished but I really need to look at my emotions around eating and all or nothing attitude.
you are my inspiration now.

happysnail12 · 03/08/2025 21:45

Thank you @MsAnnFrope I hope things get less stressful for you. It's so hard when everything else in life feels overwhelming. Sending positive and supportive vibes your way x

Wednesday weigh in....only lost 1/4 of a lb this week (so basically stayed the same) but don't feel too unhappy about it. I've done a lot of socialising this week, so was anticipating a gain.

The next week is pretty full on with family visits and days out (which is great for fun but makes everything trickier food wise) but going to try my best to make sensible choices.

My husband is away for 5 days from tomorrow. Feeling less tempted to binge after writing everything down the other day, so hopefully I can stay strong.

Hope everyone is doing well xx

Well done everyone on your progress! I was stuck at the same weight for about 10 days but now seem to have gotten through it. This has been a busy few weeks of travel and solo parenting with no nursery so I'm considering it a win that I haven't gained or quit.

Starting weight Christmas 2024: 80kg
Starting again weight 20 June: 75.2kg
Current weight: 71.6kg

happysnail12 · 08/08/2025 10:47

Well done @WolfMother326 😊 definitely a win! You're so close to losing 10kg! 👏

Well done everyone who is going down the way 👏

I am still stuck with no movement 🙃

12 stone 4 pounds = For eternity 🤷‍♀️🤣🫣

happysnail12 · 13/08/2025 07:25

Wednesday weigh in - pretty much stayed the same, but haven't been particularly focused, if I'm honest. Lots of socialising and days out.

However, today's the day and I'm off on holiday a stone lighter having met my initial target 😊

I'm going to enjoy my time away but try not to go mad with the food and drink. Then back on it when I get home to reset and aim to reach my 10 target weight.

Hope everyone is doing well xx

Currently on aforementioned holiday. I couldn't face weighing myself before I left, but due to the heat out here I haven't been eating a lot - bit of a waste when we're HB!

Hopefully will have lost some at Sunday weigh in

WolfMother326 · 13/08/2025 23:39

@happysnail12 congratulations on reaching your goal for your trip!

I hope you and @rararachael both have wonderful holidays

Summersunshinebliss · 14/08/2025 13:39

Not been great this week due to things being busy and I've put on 3 pounds 🥴

Hope everyone else is getting on better than me.

Edited to add this week's weight is
12 stone 7 pounds.

Littletreefrog · 15/08/2025 08:48

Hope everyone is enjoying their well deserved holidays. And @Summersunshinebliss don't be disheartened one bad weigh in is just a blip not a disaster.

My news is my weight finally starts with a 10 again! Yes it might be 10st 13.9lbs but it's still a 10!

Summersunshinebliss · 15/08/2025 16:58

Congratulations 🎊 @Littletreefrog well done and like you say a 10 is still a 10. Thank you for your kind words 💐 your right blips will happen from time to time.

Summersunshinebliss · 21/08/2025 12:18

Checking in with a 2 pounds loss this week 🎊

Current weight 12 stone 5 pounds

happysnail12 · 22/08/2025 18:41

Congratulations @Littletreefrog and @Summersunshinebliss😊 great losses/milestones 💪

I got back from my holiday on Wednesday evening and nearly fainted when I stepped on the scales the next morning 😱 All my own fault because, Ive been completely off the rails for a week, but still annoying!

I'm hoping that at least some of it is water weight 🙏 so I am going to officially weigh in again next Wednesday. I'm 100% back on it, so hopefully I can do some damage control between now and then 🤞

Summersunshinebliss · 25/08/2025 14:46

Thanks @happysnail12

The post holiday weigh in is always 😱 its usually just fluid though. Hope everyone is having a good Bank holiday weekend, mine has been full of wine... so much rose wine Confused the rest of this week is pretty busy with a lot on... Will be happy with half a pound this week on scales day.

Also has everyone been on holiday now? My holiday is in a few weeks time but starting to think about Christmas. Will we still be using this thread or ?

happysnail12 · 25/08/2025 14:55

I'm definitely going to continue posting somewhere as it helps me stay on track!

Christmas is my next milestone. I am on the Christmas thread, but happy to carry on posting here too if others are happy to keep the thread alive?

OP posts:
Summersunshinebliss · 25/08/2025 15:00

This thread has been fab, thank you @happysnail12 it's a lovely pace where I don't get overwhelmed and then can't keep up with it. I joined the Christmas one but don't mind staying here or if you make a Christmas one, I would join that. This thread has kept me on the straight and narrow ish Grin

RaraRachael · 25/08/2025 15:22

I'd love to keep this thread alive @happysnail12 as I've found it very helpful and supportive

I've really gone off the boil with my weight loss due to being away a lot and getting down when I didn't lose any for a few weeks
I'm resuming with my Sunday weigh ins this week.

happysnail12 · 25/08/2025 15:39

Let's stay here then, shall we?

You're right that it feels like the right balance of support and posts without it becoming overwhelming.

Thank you for all coming along with me. It's definitely helped me stay on track despite a few blips along the way x

OP posts:
Littletreefrog · 25/08/2025 16:08

Yes happy to keep posting here. My weight loss has slowed down but actually when I work it out still around 3 to 4 lbs a month which seems ok. Hasn't been too hard to keep to apart from this bank holiday weekend when my 18yr old has been to Creamfields and I have definitely been comfort/stress eating.

Summersunshinebliss · 25/08/2025 16:38

Great 🥳 thanks @happysnail12

Looking forward to countdown to Christmas with you all. Hope you are ok @Littletreefrog it is an adjustment when kids grow up and become more independent. @RaraRachael can understand things are tricky for you when you are away and out of routine.
