14 weeks until beachy summer holiday. If I can lose a 1lb a week that's a stone by August.

As the title says. Hoping to lose a stone by August so that I am feeling better about myself on holiday.

The reality is I have 2.5 stone to lose all together but thought this would be a good first target.

I've just had a look at my fitness pal and I've literally been yo-yoing between 15.5 stone and 11.5 stone for over 5 years!!! I follow the same pattern. Get to 11/12ish stone. Feel better about myself. Begin badly eating again. Gain weight. Repeat.

I am currently 12 st 6lbs but this time last year was a stone lighter.. I don't want to be getting back up into the 15s so I'm determined to get myself back on track.

Therefore I'm going to weigh in here every Wednesday until August (to start with). Anyone is welcome to join me along the way.

07/05/25: 12st 6lbs

I’ve not been back despite good intentions. I’ve passed two super stressful work goals in the last two weeks so I have some headspace for meal planning now. Need to do a weigh in tonight to check the damage and then hoping for lb a week for 14 weeks!

happysnail12 · 18/06/2025 15:14

Welcome back @MsAnnFrope It's so hard to focus on weight loss when life is stressful. It's often my downfall too! However, never too late for a reset. Glad to have you back x

How much walking per day will actually make a big difference? I aim for 2 to 3 km per day.

I started years ago, overweight. Trained for about 8 months for the moonwalk (1500 calorie intake, gradually built up to long distances but initially about an hour each day). By the time of the walk I was the fittest I’d ever been, at 51, and toned like a greyhound.

I've been doing about an hour a day, I don't really measure the distance but I do know I do 7 miles on a Saturday when I walk to and from Park Run.

AronaBlue · 18/06/2025 19:12

@RaraRachaelThank you! The pounds are getting harder to shift the closer I’m getting to goal weight. I’ve stalled quite a few times too which is very frustrating when you’re doing all the right things but not seeing results.

@ChocolateeggsarebetterthannormalchocolateThank you and a big congratulations to you on the positive test!

This is reassuring! I’m going for 1500cal daily and I think I can get an hour of exercise in!

Hi @happysnail12 and others, can I join? I'm looking to lose about 2 stone after having 2 babies in the past 4 years. I used to be this heavy in my 20s and then I got really in shape for about 5 years before becoming a mum and felt great. Now I'm back where I started. So I know what I need to do, the trouble is finding time and motivation to do it with two little. I've lost about half a stone so far and ran a half marathon but eating is the tricky thing for me.
I thought this thread might be a good fit as I have a big event in November that I want to lose some weight for. Also good to see your progress as a motivation!
I'm using noom and also exercising. Doing daily weighs and trying to eat a balanced diet.
Thanks for starting the thread :)

RaraRachael · 21/06/2025 11:17

Welcome @WolfMother326 and good luck on your weight loss journey with us.
I've become lazy over the years and was horrified at my weight recently.

I've been walking miles in the nice weather so will be devastated if I don't lose anything when I weigh in tomorrow.

WolfMother326 · 21/06/2025 11:19

thanks @RaraRachael I hope you have a great weigh in, long walks are so nice especially this time of year.

WolfMother326 · 21/06/2025 11:43

@RaraRachael I was just reading back over the thread. In the past when I've stalled, adding in a bit of resistance training helps. So just like light weights or bands or even planking at home etc. Do you do any of that? I think even 2x a week for 20 minutes made a difference for me in the past.

Littletreefrog · 21/06/2025 12:12

Well ParkRun/Walk was a hot one today! I must have lost weight through sweat alone! I have 3lb to go to first target of losing 10% of bodyweight. Then I need to set a new target. DH has just been told he needs to lower his cholesterol and seems to think that means a lifetime of tofu and brown rice. I am trying to persuade him he doesn't have to turn vegan (nothing wrong with being vegan just I know he wouldn't enjoy it) any tips on lowering cholesterol anybody?

RaraRachael · 21/06/2025 12:44

Thanks @WolfMother326 I'll see what I can add.
I'm away to visit my baby and toddler grandchildren so I'll get plenty of exercise running after them 😅

happysnail12 · 21/06/2025 14:59

Welcome @WolfMother326Glad to have you along ☺️ and well done @RaraRachaeland @Littletreefrog for exercising in this heat! 🥵 I really struggle with the heat but have been trying to continue to get out for walks regardless. I'm feeling hopeful for a loss this Wednesday 🤞

Down one pound this week after 3 weeks of stagnation and happy to have crossed the 11 stone barrier to 10.13 😀

happysnail12 · 22/06/2025 13:39

Yay well done @RaraRachael👏 I love it when you move into the next stone bracket. I'm hoping to say goodbye to the 12s on Wednesday 🤞

Fingers crossed for you @happysnail12 . I've really enjoyed all the walking this week as we haven't had outrageous temperatures - around 25 which is perfect

WolfMother326 · 22/06/2025 19:42

Well done @RaraRachael that must feel great 👍

WolfMother326 · 22/06/2025 22:16

I had a really good day with eating healthy, lots of fruit and veg and protein, no snacking lots of water. I took my younger one for a buggy nap and had a brisk long walk.
I'm an older mum with two little boys and just finding the time to exercise is hard, and the stress of having a baby and preschooler definitely leads to eating so many things I regret.
But I'm going to stick with it and do this for me, I know what helps: having healthy options in the house, getting outside for walks or runs, sleeping as much as I can, drinking water.
I'm doing noom which encourages you to weigh everyday but our scales need new batteries! Last time I weighed I was 75.2 kg (11 stone 11? I'm American and stones are confusing). I'm 41 and 5'6. Ideally I'd like to be around 65 kg, but I'd be happy to lose 5 kg over the summer and autumn.
Thanks again for letting me join the thread I'm finding it helpful 🙂

Summersunshinebliss · 23/06/2025 14:00

Would love to join you all. I am 5ft and 12st 9 and its only 12 weeks until my holidays need to be accountable and get into this properly.

happysnail12 · 23/06/2025 14:49

Well done @WolfMother326 👏 As a mum of two boys myself, I know how hard it is to fit everything in. My two are just about reaching an age where they are a little more independent but still hard work fitting work, school, kids etc around trying to get healthier. However, it sounds like you are doing amazingly, so keep it up 😊

And welcome along @Summersunshineblissmore the merrier 😊
