14 weeks until beachy summer holiday. If I can lose a 1lb a week that's a stone by August.

As the title says. Hoping to lose a stone by August so that I am feeling better about myself on holiday.

The reality is I have 2.5 stone to lose all together but thought this would be a good first target.

I've just had a look at my fitness pal and I've literally been yo-yoing between 15.5 stone and 11.5 stone for over 5 years!!! I follow the same pattern. Get to 11/12ish stone. Feel better about myself. Begin badly eating again. Gain weight. Repeat.

I am currently 12 st 6lbs but this time last year was a stone lighter.. I don't want to be getting back up into the 15s so I'm determined to get myself back on track.

Therefore I'm going to weigh in here every Wednesday until August (to start with). Anyone is welcome to join me along the way.

Your yo-yoing is testament to the fact that dieting does not work.
Forget about following a regime.
Cut out the rubbish, cut down on UPFs (extremely difficult to cut them out completely imo), cut out/down on alcohol.
By doing that, I think you will lose a lb a week.
Good luck OP.

What you described is a diet.
I fell for the whole Zoe, don’t count calories nonsense. It’s just a diet.

To lose weight you need to reduce calories - however it works for you. I recently remembered this and am finally losing weight. I am 4lb down and 12 to go.

What you can’t do is go back to eating as you did previously. In that sense, diets don’t work.

Wednesday weigh in. Not so good this week 😞 1lb back on! 🙈 Pretty disappointed because I have stuck to plan. However, I have just come on my period so hoping it's hormonal weight gain and will come off again when I'm feeling less bloated! It's half term next week and I am going away to visit family. Hoping to stick to things as much as possible but always hard when you less control over meals etc.

Anyway, hope everyone else has had more success? And fingers crossed for next Wednesday (although may weigh in on Tuesday as won't be at home on Wed)

Think I'll change my weigh in day from Sunday as I keep missing it if I'm away for the weekend.
Back to salads for lunch and yoghurt and fruit for breakfast.

Any more inspiring ideas would be welcome as I'm feeling quite hungry between meals. Thanks 😀

Littletreefrog · 21/05/2025 12:35

Wednesday is weigh in day for me and I'm down 9lbs on the 4.5 weeks since I started which is 2lb a week. Not bad as I set the Nutracheck thing at 1lb a week weight loss.

I think because I have been walking a lot and not eating my added exercise calories.

Not particularly healthy as it involves a lot of UPFs but I've been having a skinny bar or something similar for breakfast (under 100 calories) then a ready meal at work (always less than 400 calories). I just find this makes thinking what to eat at work nice and easy and then I've been pretty much eating our normal family teas (smaller portions or alternatives some times).

Not a long term solution as I'm aware the UPFs are not great but I'm just doing what I need to do to get the lbs shifted to start with.

happysnail12 · 21/05/2025 12:57

Wow @Littletreefrogthat's an amazing loss so far. Hoping to see similar results eventually, although my weight loss seems so slow these days! 🐌

I've lost about 6 pounds since the start of May. Not especially rapid weight loss but hopefully a gentle downward trajectory can still get me where I want to be by August, although I am finding socialising difficult as it makes me want to have wine, and then my resolve weakens where food is concerned too! I'm now just over 12 stone at 5 foot 6. I'm not aiming for super slim - not going to happen - but under 11 stone would be nice and 10 and a half would be great. @happysnail12 keep at it. I bet this week is just because you're storing water. You'll probably get a decent loss next week if you can stick with it.

This all day long

happysnail12 · 25/05/2025 13:00

And so half-term begins which is always a mixed bag. On the positive front there's less stress, no school for me or the kids, more time to exercise. However, there's also less distraction, less ability to control what I eat (when I'm away) more socialising.

I had terrible day (food wise) yesterday after being so "on it" all week. We had friends over which resulted in lots of bread, cake and fizzy drinks! 😭 no excuses because I didn't need to do it but did it anyway!

Anyway I have two days before I go away for a couple of days so trying to have a real focussed 48 hours. I have done a Caroline Girvan workout this morning and am going to take my boys for a bike ride this afternoon. I had a healthy green soup for lunch and will have chicken and veg for dinner.

Hopefully I can even out my week a bit and keep the weight loss on track for August.

You can do it @happysnail12 I'm trying very hard not to let little bad days this turn in to 'fuck it' weeks like I used to do. I had a Chinese on Friday to celebrate DS1 passing his apprenticeship and a McDonalds last night as we were driving back from Wembley and options were limited. But I am not saying fuck it this time straight back on it this morning.

happysnail12 · 25/05/2025 13:20

Thanks @Littletreefrogyes, I'm the same. Normally a "bad day" would lead to "fuck it" but back on it today

I've lost 3 pounds in 2 weeks. Happy with that as I was away last weekend so not much healthy eating.
I'm trying to go a dog walk every day and my indoor exercises are going well

Good luck everybody. We can do it 😁

happysnail12 · 25/05/2025 13:39

Well done @RaraRachaelthat's so good 👏 I'm going to weigh in on Tuesday. Fingers crossed I can get the scales moving in the right direction again x

Good luck everyone! I am 9lb down, started weight loss regime 18/04/25, 11lbs to go. Terrified of how many calories I must have been eating to be the weight I was! Finding counting calories the only way to lose the weight and surprised I have stuck to this! Holiday in 46 days so hoping to get as close to my target weight as possible.

Thank you happy snail! It's hard getting used to counting every calorie but I can see the difference so keeping going, good luck!

Yes I've found calorie counting the only way. I normally give up after a bit and think of I can judge it myself I know roughly which things are high in calories and which things aren't but this is where it always goes wrong. This time round I am logging everything properly and fingers crossed it is working so far.

happysnail12 · 27/05/2025 08:23

Weighing in a day early as I'm away for two days from today visiting family. Much better week (despite the Saturday blip). Just under 2lbs this week and 3lbs overall which lines up with my aim to lose a 1lb a week plan (even though it's not linear). Slow and steady but gradually moving in the right direction. Just need to keep going and not sabotage myself!

The rest of the week is going to be tricky. I'm away from home until Thursday and on Sunday I have an afternoon tea booked for my friend's birthday. I'm going with mindset of being as sensible as positive whilst still enjoying myself but trying my hardest to be "good" in all the time in between.

Hope you are all doing well x

Well done slow and steady is the way to go. Weigh in tomorrow for me but out tonight and Saturday so may struggle this week!

happysnail12 · 04/06/2025 07:38

Wednesday weigh-in....Survived half term and lost just over 1lb this week. Still slow and steady but a 1lb a week was my aim and I've met that (Trying to stay patient and positive!)

Mini goal for next week is to get to 12st 1lb or under, which will take me out of the obese bracket and into the overweight.

Hope everyone has had a good week xx

I've found Nutracheck a game changer for me. I don't know why as I think it does the same as MyFitnessPal but I ould never get on with that. Well done so far you are doing fab! Have you been to ParkRun? You don't need to run the 5k yet, until you have completed your couch to 5k that is. I walk PatkRun every week and it's great and very inclusive.
