I’ve finally come to the end of the road with being a fatty. I’ve had enough of being a size 20/22 and I’m finally going to actually do something it once and for all!

I plan on starting tomorrow without fail..

i will weigh myself in the morning but I’m roughly 17 stone! Which at 5.4 is massive… I’m fed up
of feeling shit and tired insecure unhappy and embarrassed by my size I avoid most social situations.. I want to be fit healthy and be able to run around walk up hills and play with my small children without feeling like I’m dying after 2 mins of running…

I know it’s going to be a long hard slog and there will be slip ups along the way no doubt but I’m determined to do it this time.

im going to use this as a journal kinder thing and something I can look back on.. I will weigh myself every Monday and update.. if anyone wants to join feel free and if no one does at least I can read back haha..

my plan is low carb and calorie count having about 1400 calories a day roughly.. While also trying to get 10k steps in a day which might be a challenge as I’m so unfit…

i wish myself and everyone luck :) xxx

That must be tough @Miraclemuma03 I think that must be even more annoying as you haven’t gorged to get where you are, shit! I hope you find a way to lose weight even a lb a week will be a fair bit in a few months.. got look at the bigger picture. I’m not wanting to resort to weight loss medication yet I’m wanting to do this myself , plus moneys tight, I will give myself until January and if I haven’t lost a fair healthy amount by my own will
power then maybe I might have to as otherwise I’m going to have health problems:( but I’m determined to do this myself. Just need to get the first stone off then I think I will feel more motivated and like I’m on my way.. just want to be out the 17s. Anyway so far so good today :) x

Im with you about the medical weight loss. I want to try myself before tying myself down to more financial outlays each month. My friend is paying $680 a month for her injections as she is now on a higher dose as the smaller doses didnt work. I could not imagine spending that a month on weight loss drugs when I could spend that on healthier foods, vitamins and supplements. Im also giving myself until next year (if i dont get pregnant, as we are currently trying) then im looking at doing the balloon thing.

Tibby2024 · 25/06/2025 11:48

Bloody hell@Miraclemuma03thats loads! Couldn’t afford that. Plus I’m to chicken to wouldn’t want to feel sick I hate feeling nauseated I had that already with my kids when pregnant and that was bad enough, aw I hope you get your wish and become pregnant asap :) I’ve finished having children now I’ve got 3 lil ones had them all in quick succession which definitely didn’t help the weight gain 😅.

hows everyone else doing? Been quiet here lately, x

Hi ya everyone not been much noise on here for a bit so thought would say hi and hope you are all doing well especially in this hot weather, I’ve had a headache today but I’ve ate well pass few days and hoping to be a few lbs down on weigh day Monday.. it’s a slow process but I’m slowing getting more use to eating this way, and if I have a treat I make up for it the next day. Cant be perfect, gotta be realistic as I will always have a treat here and there. But eating better is becoming easier.. I’ve done more walking not quite 10k a day but more than my usual.. I try to aim for at least 40 min a day.. maybe not much for some but my legs ache and feet hurt so taking it slowly so not to injure myself.. anyway I hope to here from some of you :) x

I’ll join. I am really desperate to lose weight. I’m pre diabetic ( crept into the diabetic range a few months ago) . High cholesterol and blood pressure. It’s a ticking time bomb. My life is very sedentary apart from a three mile walk several times a week and it’s just not enough. I used to do yoga. I tried to swim and join a gym but it aggravated a back problem which caused immobility for months. I feel exhausted fat and miserable all the time. I’m beyond worried about my weight. I’ve been really trying to cut down on carbs but am falling into bad habits again. Mainly it’s just having no ideas about what to eat or being out and having limited choices.

I really need some help and inspiration. I will use MFP for a few days and then just give up. I was eating two scrambled or poached eggs on a piece of toast or two ( sourdough) , for breakfast but when I realised how many calories are in that I stopped. 400 calories ! Plus I’m worried about the cholesterol and carbs in the bread. So it’s back to Greek yogurt and fruit in the mornings. Sometimes I just get so sick of having the same thing . I find fasting really hard. Lunch is normally homemade soup and couple of small oatcakes with cottage cheese. Dinner is fish and salad with veg, eggs or something like that. I need to lose four stones .

I lost two stones doing low carb many moons ago but can’t seem to get myself into the zone this time. Plus I’m a lot older with health problems now. I’m 5 foot 3 and 12.7. I was just over 13 stones but lost weight when I had a virus earlier this year. When I’m ill it just melts off me.

Miraclemuma03 · 30/06/2025 10:10

I have fallen off the wagon, so to speak. Im so over stimulated right now and run off my feet that im just not making enough time for myself or taking time to make proper food. I know its all excuses but man I am run down and run off my feet and I dont know how to make myself a priority.

Tibby2024 · 30/06/2025 22:12

@Miraclemuma03 I feel you, it is hard and I’ve had plenty moments of giving in and then feeling shit for doing so, some days I have loads of motivation then others none and it is so gawd damn hard! I’m an emotional eater so any sort of emotional response and I’m wanting to stuff especially when I’m stressed or down.. or run ragged, it’s hard to find the motivation and you do have to be in the right mindset to
do this, it’s took me years to finally try to sort myself out, I’m trying but I’m not perfect I have bad days I’m just trying to make the good days more than the bad and get better each day.. don’t beat yourself up you got to take one day at a time and think positive.. I ain’t an expert so won’t give advice as most the time I’m failing to but just want to send you hugs and know we understand.. xxx

@Tibby2024 thank you. Im definitely finding things really hard this time. Im thinking of cancelling my weight watches subscription but cant seem to let it go just yet.

Crikeyalmighty · 01/07/2025 10:04

@Beautifulcreatures2 400 cals is about right for breakfast , if you can eat it a bit later and then just have fruit and yoghurt or a protein shake at lunch ( if anything) and a decent evening meal with salad or veg of moderate size then that’s ideal eating .

Still no weight loss over here. Im just at a stand still.

LucyJoanCarlyle · 07/07/2025 14:38

Well done @Cazs818 !

Unfortunately I'm with @Beautifulcreatures2 and @Miraclemuma03 in that I just haven't been able to get started Blush every day I think right, I'll really make a go of it and every day something crops up to stop me.

I was made redundant a week ago but am busy job hunting every day - feel guilty if I don't do that for at least a couple of hours! - then today I had an interview, sorted out an enormous pile of clean laundry, cleaned the bathroom (essentially all things I don't have time to do when the DC are around!) and it's now school pick up time in about 20 minutes... feels like I've had a busy day but not a productive one, if you know what I mean.

Coincidentally I saw a Joe Wicks video earlier (I do like Joe Smile) and he was saying that he met a girl recently who was really struggling with weight loss - she was doing loads of exercise but not losing weight - and his advice was that if she put 20% less effort into exercise and into food choices instead, it would bring much better results. He was very kind actually, explained that spending time on meal planning/ shopping/ food prep/ batch cooking would give a bigger payback. Which I can completely see, but where I can fit in a short exercise class, I don't necessarily have a longer chunk of time to batch cook etc...!

Tibby2024 · 07/07/2025 15:15

Well Ive been bad for past 3 days in a row and I’m back up 3 lbs :( today hasn’t been great either.. I’m determined to start again tomorrow, I’m never going to get out of the 17s at this rate.. I lose some then be naughty then gain it all back:/ x

Miraclemuma03 · 08/07/2025 02:37

@LucyJoanCarlyle weight loss is 80% what you put in your mouth. All you need to do exercise wise is increase step count and a little more activity through the day then your already doing, and that can look like walking the stairs instead of taking the lift, could mean if you take public transfer, get off a block before your stop and walk the rest of the way. And as for diet, make one small change each day, it may be that you eat some Greek yoghurt with muesli or fruit for brekky instead of toast or cereal, then the next day make a change to your lunch and so forth. I have been stuck at 88kg to 90kg for 12months, no matter how healthy i eat, how little i eat or how much activity i do I just cant get my weight off. I started off 4 months after I had my daughter at 96kg give or take and I have struggled very, very hard to get that off. Iv been told its because I am in perimenopaus and I need to work against that but no one tells me how. Im now thinking I want to do medical weight loss and get it over with, im so sick of calorie counting and starving myself for no progress. Iv given up for the time being and giving myself a break while we go through ivf, im trying to have another baby and hoping we have success and then il be going for medical weight loss. For the time being im just maintaining my current weight.

rahlikeatiger · 09/07/2025 15:23

Hi guys, I do agree with the you can’t out train a bad diet. I lost a stone last year just sorting my diet out. I haven’t put it on again but the bad habits are creeping back, the sweets and snacking. I am definitely sorting it out this summer, I am fed up of feeling tired all the time. I need to not feel so knackered. I have stuck at 15st 6 now for about 3 weeks. I mean. Come on. I’m on it when summer hols start!

Miraclemuma03 · 10/07/2025 06:42

Weighed this morning. Back down to 88.9kg not sure how. My weight is just yoyoing all over the place. Just going day by day at this point. I cant do any sort of extreme weight loss or dieting while I'm preparing for ivf but am just trying to maintain the best I can but some how down nearly 2kg without actually making major diet changes. So have no idea. Also not drinking enough water, I dont know when that became a problem but my lips are dry and my skin is a bit dehydrated so I need to fix this. How is everyone else getting on.

Hi all,
I'd like to join as well. Have been on a weight loss journey since 27 April and down 12.45kg so far. I'm doing calorie counting with MFP (using the 30/30/40 ratio) and trying to get my steps in. Have joined the gym this weekend because I'm finding it too hot outside to get my normal amount of steps in.

For context, I'm 177cm/5ft10 and I'm aiming to get to 65kg but happy to stop once I feel I've reached the goal instead of when the numbers on the scale match my ideal weight range.

A step in the right direction this week , but the panic is definitely starting to set in 97 days until my wedding and my dress is still not fitting right I’ve managed to squeeze in to it and the zip has done up with the assistance of my partner he earnt some huge brownie points for putting up with my melt down 🙈
only one to blame is myself I’ve finally accepted that.

Was a on a see food eat food diet for many years the weight didn’t appear overnight , it’s been accumulating for over 20 years I just ignored it and continued over eating and blaming it on having baby’s and everything else I could apart from the real reason only I’m accountable no one tied me down and force fed me only I can deal with it

I’ve got two big holidays coming up in august & a birthday next week that I’m actually dreading.
one is a all you can eat buffet style 🙄 nothing healthy on the menu all high processed and no fruit or salads very limited veggies god help me .
the other one eating out for breakfast & dinner @ a Wetherspoons for 4 days or similar cheap pub style grub .
If any one has some tips for surviving this I’m all ears

Crikeyalmighty · 21/07/2025 10:01

@Cazs818 don’t think it will be as bad as you think - just came back from 10 days in Majorca - had half a bottle of wine every night, decent hotel breakfast with scrambled eggs, toast, croissant, fruit - , no lunch apart from a sandwich 2 of the days, good dinner out ( no buffets) every night including some tempura stuff a few nights and pasta - still only put on 1.2kg which isn’t the end of the world .

weatherspoons- that should have things like chicken Caesar salad , it does have a few healthier choices- eat half of it if unhealthy choice.

buffet- see yourself a limit , if it’s quiches and pizzas etc - limit to 6 items and drink a lot of water . Eat a whole tub of cottage cheese or 2 hard boiled eggs and some fruit before you go - don’t go to it hungry!!
