I’ve finally come to the end of the road with being a fatty. I’ve had enough of being a size 20/22 and I’m finally going to actually do something it once and for all!

I plan on starting tomorrow without fail..

i will weigh myself in the morning but I’m roughly 17 stone! Which at 5.4 is massive… I’m fed up
of feeling shit and tired insecure unhappy and embarrassed by my size I avoid most social situations.. I want to be fit healthy and be able to run around walk up hills and play with my small children without feeling like I’m dying after 2 mins of running…

I know it’s going to be a long hard slog and there will be slip ups along the way no doubt but I’m determined to do it this time.

im going to use this as a journal kinder thing and something I can look back on.. I will weigh myself every Monday and update.. if anyone wants to join feel free and if no one does at least I can read back haha..

my plan is low carb and calorie count having about 1400 calories a day roughly.. While also trying to get 10k steps in a day which might be a challenge as I’m so unfit…

i wish myself and everyone luck :) xxx

Good luck with this. I've just lost 5 stone on mounjaro injections. It was so easy o hunger.

LightGirl · 09/05/2025 09:44

@Miraclemuma03 We can do this!!!!!!

bluebellsandspring · 09/05/2025 11:07

I'd love to join you. I've got a couple of health issues going on and need to lose weight to help me try and get on top of them. Current weight 90kg. I would love to get to 65kg but realistically that probably isn't going to happen. I'd like to focus on each 5lb chunk to make sure my immediate goals don't seem unattainable.

Tibby2024 · 09/05/2025 12:49

Oh gawd I’ve just had a peak at this thread not thinking I would have any or many replies. I’m overwhelmed by how many people want to join this! Wow ! I’m ashamed also to say I’ve not started :( I’ve been unwell and haven’t done nothing I’ve been super bad with eating to… I feel worse now that I’ve got lots starting and invested… I’m currently downing my sorrows with a large coke and yorkie pudding with gravy …

I ain’t going to let myself down or you wonderful people.. I will be starting tomorrow I promise…

I will be back later to reply..

you are all amazing xxxx

Just start with day 1 and go from there. Don't be hard on yourself.

I've not started today off well and have had a bacon sandwich. However, I'm not going to let that defeat me. I want to lose weight by adopting new habits so I'm not going to eat any snacks other than fruit and veg today. We are planning a BBQ for this afternoon and have bought stuff to make chicken and vegetable kebabs, low fat burgers, halloumi, portobello mushrooms and salmon. We also have lots of salad. So none of the stuff to go on the BBQ is perfect but we have tried to make better choices as we would usually have bought higher fat burgers, hot dogs and marshmallows. Weight loss will be slow but if I consistently lose a pound or two a month I will be happy.

Maybe my next habit to adopt will be to keep the bacon sandwiches for every second weekend...

Don't feel bad, some changes each day is better then no changes at all. Today I had a wendys thick shake, I only drank half of it as they are just too big for me to finish but I don't feel bad about it because it was a treat and something I don't do very often.. losing weight and keeping it off is about the long game.. it's not all going to come off today so enjoy the food but in moderation and the biggest things to change are the processed and highly sugared and fatty foods. BBQ meat and some salads are perfectly fine to eat.

AllyDevon · 11/05/2025 08:29

Hi! I’m in if that’s okay with you.

I’ve got 5 stone to lose and it feels like a mountain. I’m unfit and feel tired all the time, I am fed up of opening my wardrobe and feeling like I have nothing to wear.

plan is to eat calorie deficit, and reduce sugar where I can - my absolute weakness is petrol station goodies and it’s completely pointless!

have tried this week but will weigh tomorrow and take it from there. Anxious already I am dreading seeing that number

Nothing wrong with bacon if it’s air fried or grilled, it’s the other stuff that normally comes with it, go 2 poached eggs with bacon on brown for a great alternative. You’re on the right lines though, controlling what you can without been too restrictive is the path to not failing.

When you say petrol station goodies? Expain further, maybe we can help.

bluebellsandspring · 11/05/2025 09:13

The BBQ was nice and didn't feel too calorific. We had tried some different things and decided that chicken and pepper kebabs are a keeper and something we will do again. We were so filled up with the reduced fat burgers, chicken and veg kebabs, portobello mushrooms and halloumi that we never opened the salmon. Oh, I'd also baked potatoes in tinfoil and had a medium sized potato.

On the downside, I tried to skip lunch and ended up munching a bag of crisps and a cake while waiting for the BBQ.

So far today I've had a small handful of unsalted almonds and will have a small bowl of muesli for breakfast. Lunch will be a salad. The thing I'm finding hardest at the moment is trying to retrain my brain. Each time I want to reach for a biscuit I try to reach for a piece of fruit instead. The most important thing though is not to beat myself up each time I slip up, so that I then eat five more biscuits. Just accept I've slipped up and reach for a piece of fruit instead.

Miraclemuma03 · 11/05/2025 09:56

For mothers day today I have eaten way too much chocolate plus my food and now tomorrow morning I'm not going to want to weigh in. Iv eaten a whole weeks worth of WW extra points today plus my normal daily points . Eeekkk. Guess we see what tomorrow brings on Monday morning.

bluebellsandspring · 11/05/2025 13:43

@Miraclemuma03 One day off is not the end of the world. Tomorrow is a new day. At least all of the chocolate is now out of the way and not sitting in the fridge staring you in the face each time you open it. I'd find it hard to eat salad when it is sitting next to chocolate in the fridge.

LucyJoanCarlyle · 11/05/2025 23:51

Completely agree that 5st to lose is daunting @AllyDevon , I honestly don't know how I've let myself get this big Blush hardly anything in my wardrobe fits and realistically probably nothing will till I've lost at least 2st. But I refuse to buy more clothes and give in to being this size forever!

We were looking at garden furniture today @bluebellsandspring - we don't use what we have though and really don't utilise the garden enough - not that ours is very big, but it'd be extra space to eat/ relax in when it's nice weather! What kind of BBQ do you have? I'd prefer a gas one, we only have an old charcoal one which I never use because I can't be bothered cleaning it...

Oh gosh @Miraclemuma03, your DH is a lucky chap to be able to eat whatever he wants!! My DP bemoans his weight and how hard it is to lose, but (a) he does nothing at all to try and (b) his lifestyle is completely sedentary, not sure how he expects things to improve Confused

@rahlikeatiger I need to weigh in tomorrow, dreading it TBH as I just cannot find the time to get myself organised. The DC have been vile today, one after the other, it's been a really stressful day - started nicely but then DTS2 threw a massive tantrum and was just awful, then later DTS1 (ADHD) had a complete meltdown. Neither of them are what you'd call restful children and DP's only way of looking after them is to give them more and more screen time, which of course makes them much worse in the long run! If I had enough holiday I'd take a day off and just spend it planning out diet/ exercise/ everything else but I really don't...

rahlikeatiger · 12/05/2025 06:28

@LucyJoanCarlyle I hear you - we’ve also got a neurodivergent household! House is utter chaos at times. I am endeavouring to lose 3lbs this week to reset/restart again. Trying intermittent fasting as I’m likely perimenopausal and that allegedly helps! I am also using Chat GPT every Sunday to devise a workout plan and a vague meal plan. It helps with the feeling more organised. I’ve tried things like WW and Slimming Workd in the past and they don’t work for me. I think more mindful choices, less sugar, more water and more protein are better. Going to weigh in today and did my measurements last night pre shower so trying to really stay on it. After a weekend of takeaway and some other treats I feel sluggish and bloated so I’m ready to make more moves! Good luck this week everyone x

I weighed in this morning and from my one day off after a week of hard work I have gained 400g, so annoyed with myself, it doesn't take me much to gain weight and it doesn't want to come off at all so that one free day ruined my entire week . I'm hoping it's bloating and fluid since I am suppse to be dairy free so chocolate reaks havoc on my body if I have too much and its not usually like me to eat a lot of junk at all but anyway it's done and now I have to work extra hard to lose weight for next weigh in.

SueSuddio · 12/05/2025 11:18

Good luck, I had lots of baby weight to lose as I basically puffed up to a size 16/18 during pregnancy.

I really recommend having a fasting time every evening. So have dinner by 6pm then no breakfast until 9am. Takes a few months to kick in but I really think it regulates my weight.

Definitely go low carb too, and I power walked for one hour 3 times a week so haven't needed to join a gym, it just gets your metabolism moving.

lunaswand · 12/05/2025 11:41

I'm with you, same height & 16.8 - back to WW this week

Crikeyalmighty · 12/05/2025 15:42

@rahlikeatiger if it’s any consolation - I’ve done 5 weeks on mounjaro and stopped it - I couldn’t hack the heartburn and waves of nausea for 3 days every week - Im using herbal appetite suppressants with a GLP1 component once a day and am losing at same rate as I was on mounjaro by doing a1200 cal a day max 5 days a week and 1400 at weekends . I have good willpower so didn’t really need the constant suppression thing of the jabs .

It does help thanks! I know I can do it. Previously I’d denied this 🙈🤣 I’ve done my workouts for today. I ate a decent chicken salad for lunch plus a Greek yoghurt snack. Been drinking water. I’m incredibly bloated though today. The heat here in the North West phew.

Crikeyalmighty · 12/05/2025 21:09

@rahlikeatiger I think anyone who has good willpower and isn’t really a snacker or doesn’t get constant food noise might well do just as well for an awful lot less cash on a strict calorie control- up the excercise, up the protein intake and drink more water - but consistency is key and not just getting bored after 3 months if you need to get 3 stone plus off .thats been my downfall- I do great and then it sneaks back in -this time I’m going to weigh myself at least twice a week so to keep it in check - I got out the habit of doing that -

Miraclemuma03 · 12/05/2025 22:54

So re weighed in this morning and thankfully the gain was just fluid and bloat and I'm actually down 800g since starting weight. Phew I was in a bit of a panic.

LucyJoanCarlyle · 13/05/2025 00:15

What a relief @Miraclemuma03 !

@Crikeyalmighty, I don't want to use WLI (which your post has reinforced!) but some people are absolutely delighted by them, and then I think... should I?! Mind you, the cost is too much for me at the moment anyway and I know I can lose weight on my own, I just need to get my act together...

@rahlikeatiger other people with DC the same age tell me that they enjoyed 'chill days' at home, lazing around, in PJs all day etc... and I think, how?! DTS1 would be absolutely bouncing off the walls by lunch time, the only time he calms down is during screen time and then it makes him worse afterwards Confused

On another subject I also use ChatGPT a lot and find it very helpful! I'm a SW member at the moment and take part in a lot of their webinars - I WFH and enjoy the 'company' Blush as it's otherwise pretty lonely at home!

@SueSuddio I like the idea of IF but quite often I'm up till after midnight (as you can tell!) and I need a snack to keep going and crack through all the housework that still needs doing!!

SueSuddio · 13/05/2025 09:50

@LucyJoanCarlyle what's happened for me over the months is that I don't want to eat now until 9am, your body gets used to it.

Or you could always not eat til lunchtime.

Honestly it's been amazing and I genuinely think it's good to give your digestion a break (although it hasn't solved my bloat!)
