April, nice and easy 4 pounds.

Anyone fancy joining us for a goal to loose 4lb in April?
A few of us have found that no matter what the end goal is that breaking this down into smaller 4lb monthly chunks is much more manageable (and less scary).

We all had different ways to reach our goal and different end goals.

Anyone interested in focusing on 4 lbs?

And thank you for the supportive words - I'm annoyed with myself but hey ho - need to get back to work away from temptation's way really.

mamaduckbone · 22/04/2025 14:34

Hope you're ok @YourOnMute - sounds painful.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 22/04/2025 20:14

Well done @mamaduckbone for getting back on it, I think that is the real challenge and you are rising to it👏

Hope you’re okay @YourOnMute, that sounds like a painful fall! Hope you had a lovely holiday despite fall😎

WeAreBorg · 23/04/2025 10:14

Well done for all the losses, don’t think I’ll have lost anything by the end of the month sadly! Am at the gym or running most days and doing 10K steps a day but suspect the Easter goodies are the issue.

Does anyone know if HRT helps with weight gain? I’m of the age and am blaming menopause for the podge but don’t really have any other symptoms so am just clutching at straws. Deep down I know I just have to eat less :(

YourOnMute · 23/04/2025 11:27

I don't know @WeAreBorg I'm almost 50 and have often thought about HRT. However I don't live in UK and a menopause appointment costs €90!!!in my GP, and you then have to pay for the drugs, so that's a deterrent.
Thanks for all the well wishes. It was a nasty fall. I went for a walk yesterday and the cut on my knee opened up 😭, I think it might need some glue.
In other news I'm 0.1kg away from my lowest April weight so I'm delighted although have the gym tonight so that will go up..
But holiday bloat dealt with almost..

WeAreBorg · 23/04/2025 19:02

Goodness that’s expensive @YourOnMute !
hope your knee feels better soon :)

Doyouthinktheyknow · 23/04/2025 20:32

I was taking HRT @WeAreBorg, probably for at least 2 years and it did nothing for my weight, I probably gained more in that time!

I used it because I had terrible brain fog, insomnia and various other symptoms but I haven’t been bothering with it recently and I’m not sure anything has changed!

I think I needed a new job really rather than HRT and I did that last autumn😂

The only thing that has shifted my weight is intermittent fasting and regular gym visits.

WeAreBorg · 23/04/2025 20:53

That’s what I suspected @Doyouthinktheyknow
ill have a look at intermittent fasting

YourOnMute · 24/04/2025 00:41

It is expensive!
I tried intermittent fasting and (I suffer from migraines) it triggered an awful bout of them. So I calorie count and eat regularly...and exercise like a demon (although I'm not sure it's conducive to weight loss for me).
My mum brought me lunch from a local cafe which would be more calorific but I did stick to my total. I expect a little gain though.

Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth · 24/04/2025 07:42

Very interesting re HRT, I’ve just started looking into it and don’t think I’m ready at the moment (only insomnia atm).

Doyouthinktheyknow · 24/04/2025 11:21

HRT can be expensive, I went to a private menopause Dr due to my history of gynae cancer years ago which was so helpful but I pay privately for the prescriptions and the reviews cost a few hundred.

Im beginning to wonder if my joint aches are worse since I stopped using it but hard to know. I might restart for a few months and see if I notice any changes.

Migraines are awful @YourOnMute, you have my sympathies. I’ve suffered in the past but they are normally triggered by stress for me and haven’t had any for months which is great for me!

YourOnMute · 25/04/2025 16:57

So I'm not well since yesterday. Managed to see the GP and got antibiotics. Went up .5kg but hope it's just inflammation/water. I find I'm very hungry today.
Unless it's a stomach bug I never lose my appetite.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 25/04/2025 20:20

Hope you feel better soon @YourOnMute, I’m the same way, only lose my appetite with a stomach bug! I’ve only had one in the last 20 years so it’s no wonder I’m overweight😜

Focus on eating well to nourish your body and I hope you feel better soon💐

Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth · 25/04/2025 21:48

Hope you feel better soon @YourOnMute !

I’ve no appetite at the moment but this morning was up 3lb. I’m not sleeping which probably isn’t helping! Since my last weigh in on the 21st it’s been all over the place (scales have been recalibrated).

I restart the gym at the end of the month after almost 4 months off. Hoping to regain some muscle and definition!

Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth · 29/04/2025 04:50

Another 3.5 lbs off this week which means 8lbs in total this month! I’m feeling much better for it.
Only 5 pounds to go to my goal so hopefully next month will be the month.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 29/04/2025 06:39

Wow! That’s amazing loss @Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth, very well done 👏

I’m 7lb down sine 1st April so really pleased with that. By the end of the day it will be 15 gym visits too in April.

I’m on holiday for 2 weeks on May so my focus will be very much maintaining my current weight. Will still be using the gym and intermittent fasting so hopefully not too much damage will be done.

Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth · 29/04/2025 20:55

@Doyouthinktheyknow massive well done to you too! Both on the loss and the gym!

Have an amazing holiday!

I started back with my PT yesterday so hoping for some shape (not just a blob). I managed a swim after work today and I’m feeling much better for finally being able to get some movement in.

OP posts:
Doyouthinktheyknow · 30/04/2025 09:00

Thanks @Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth, I do feel so much better for it.

Well done for fitting a swim, glad you feel better for it, it’s great exercise.

It’s hard to fit everything in but I always feel better for going to the gym.

YourOnMute · 30/04/2025 11:13

Well done @Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth and @Doyouthinktheyknow!
I'm still crooked and up almost a kilo. No walking or anything. Hopefully will get back to normal

EastCoastDweller · 30/04/2025 14:25

I've lost 2lb, but I only started mid month. Going to try for May. I started doing low carb and sugar/high fat protein. It definitely suits me but I need to focus on the total calorie intake. Also I found it impossible to stick strictly to the no carb bit but have significantly reduced them.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 30/04/2025 14:39

Hope you feel better soon @YourOnMute, slow and steady is the way to go💐

Well done @EastCoastDweller, 2lb less than when you started is excellent!

I’m just back from a 10 mile walk in the downs nearby. I used to run those paths years ago before I injured my knee and the weight piled on. Haven’t been fit enough to walk so far for a few years so it felt great! My knee is niggling now but I’m aiming for my first season swim of the year later today which I’m imagining will be very cold so will probably help my knee!

Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth · 30/04/2025 18:19

@YourOnMute ohno, hope you feel better soon!

@EastCoastDweller well done! Great progress. No carb is hard, I find low carb easier and just as effective.

@Doyouthinktheyknow that sounds lovely. I’m just trying to gather some energy to go for a walk but I’m ruined! I did legs with my PT this morning and I’m shattered!

OP posts:
Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth · 30/04/2025 18:20

My walk will only be 3 miles though 😂

OP posts:
Doyouthinktheyknow · 30/04/2025 18:49

Well done on the PT session @Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth, not surprised you are shattered🤪 You’ll probably really feel it tomorrow🤨

I can confirm the sea is freezing🥶😂 Couldn’t believe how cold it was but what a beautiful day, it was wonderful to be back in the sea😎

Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth · 30/04/2025 19:48

@Doyouthinktheyknow lovely! I love living near the sea. I was in a river yesterday (nearer to work) and it was nearly warm. The PT I did four times a week up until a month or so ago but had a break while suffering from stomach issues so it was a shock to be back.

Is everyone up for a May thread?
