Apparently I look too thin?

I do not think I do but several people have made comments!
Funny how they never told me I was too fat though.

Am 5ft5 and 9st.

When I look at myself I do still see a large belly but in reality although there is fat stored there it's mostly excess skin from losing over 8 stone and no amount of loss will change that

A few people have said I need to stop losing weight and I have now! I hit my 9st goal and have been maintaining.

But it's upsetting they have said that.
I feel I look healthy.
Am a size 10!!

I feel I look healthy.

What does healthy look like? Do you have X-ray eyes? How fast can you run a mile.
Weight does not define health. Do you have strong thigh muscles? Can you walk a brisk mile (lets face it most of us have no inclination to run one)?

Whatabouthow · 14/01/2025 21:22

Congratulations on your weightloss, that's fantastic work! I don't think you look too thin, but I think working on your posture (might just be the first photo) and maybe doing some strength work to build more muscle in your legs would add definition which might be what people mean? But I'm only saying that because you asked - if you are happy, then do nothing! You've done a great job!

You don’t look too thin. You look great.

Crikey, tough crowd. The OP has lost nearly half her body weight. That's going to have huge health benefits from her starting weight.

You look great, time to eat healthily rather than dieting to loose wait and live a generally healthy lifestyle

Doggymummar · 14/01/2025 21:26

You look great at that weight. Well done ❤️

fashionqueen0123 · 14/01/2025 21:27

You look normal and healthy. Maybe the people saying it have lost perception of what a healthy weight is.

I was trying to move my legs into some pose so you could see my shape because I have black legging on 😅

You look healthy to me 🤷🏻‍♀️. Congratulations on your weight loss.

myplace · 14/01/2025 21:29

Build a bit of muscle on your thighs and bum. Mainly for health reasons, but also to balance you out. It’s the area that could be making you look thin, especially if you have extra weight on your tummy still.

And wait. Maintain and wait, and see where it all goes. I swear it moves. I used to lose mine from my bust first, but it would fill out again over time.

I wear wide trousers or dresses so I don't even know how anyone would know. I put these leggings on for the photo, they're my cleaning ones.

Maybe they mean my face?

I'm going to start the gym though

As a slim, fit person myself it is a regular source of annoyance that apparently commenting on my size is acceptable in a way that commenting on someone as being 'too fat' most certainly wouldn't be.

I have genuinely been known to actually challenge it but in all honesty it's probably jealousy or some weird need to shoot someone down so I try and just ignore.

Wheresmybrianat · 14/01/2025 22:00

Congratulations on the weight loss. I think you look great

MaloryJones · 14/01/2025 22:00

I think you look fine, certainly not thin,

I am 5ft 3 and 7stone 12. Some say I look thin, especially my legs, but others say I am fine for my height, I am happy enough with the weight

Lovelybitofsquirrel3 · 14/01/2025 22:00

I think you look normal

User8971 · 14/01/2025 22:00

You look fantastic OP! Well done!

3luckystars · 14/01/2025 22:01

How did you manage to lose so much. That’s an amazing achievement and well done!

Howisitnotobvious · 14/01/2025 22:01

Perhaps it's just your posture for these photos...Your thighs look the same size as your calves so I echo the idea of focusing on your fitness and muscle tone. Health isn't about weight and dress size. You could be eating an apple a day three times a week to stay in shape and that would be so unhealthy.

BingoLarge · 14/01/2025 22:03

You look great. I think when people are used to you being larger they can sometimes struggle to adjust their perception of you.

icecreamfish · 14/01/2025 22:05

WELL DONE!!!!!!!

you look AMAZING.

How did you lose it and over what time period?

I wonder if it's because you are very different to how you were before that people are commenting.

Doloresparton · 14/01/2025 22:06

I think you look really good.
Well done.

Becsahm · 14/01/2025 22:08

You look healthy, well done for achieving such a lifestyle change! As long as you are eating a healthy, balanced and varied diet and it's maintainable. Society has a really skewed view on what too thin is and often it's people who actually have a perfectly healthy BMI, we are just so accustomed to seeing overweight people, we've lost sight of what a healthy BMI looks like x

Divebar2021 · 14/01/2025 22:10

I don’t thinK your body looks too thin… you look very shapely to me. I’m in the process of losing weight and I am conscious of how much it’s showing on my face. Im not saying anyone is right but if your face has got a lot thinner it might be quite striking more than your body.
