Lots to lose accountability (no WLI)

HNY!

Weighed today and I'm 20 stone 10. I have been chipping away at this and there's nearly 2 stone gone over the last few months but I've been completely half arsing it and still make excuses like they're going out of fashion, and I just need to get bloody grip and get some semblance of a routine. Anyone want to join an accountability thread who has a good chunk to shift and isn't wanting to do WLI?

I think I'm going to aim for pre pregnancy weight which means I've got ~7 stone to get rid of but I'm going to break it down in chunks so it's not too overwhelming, and I'm more focussed on FEELING better rather than a number this time. I have lost 10+ stone before so I CAN do it, but this was pre mum life when I actually had an abundance of time, money and sleep.

My targets along the way will be:

• get under 20 stone
• get to the weight I was at full term (low 17s)
• get into the 15 stone bracket
• get to mid 14 stone and reassess how I'm feeling and how much further I want to go with it

Hoping that the majority will be off for Christmas 2025 🙏🏻

I'll weigh each Wednesday and post on here but no pressure for anyone to do so. We can do this (she says for the 100th time) 🥳

Hello
Would it be OK to join?
Weighed in at 16st 4 on new years day. I haven't weighed that since my 8 week pregnancy check with dd nearly 18 years ago.
2 years ago I got down to 13st 8 with exercise and less food.
Last year alone I put that 2st back on.
I was 53 yesterday, have osteoarthritis in my knees and hip and quite frankly the chubby bits are starting to rub now.
I bike 9 miles a day, walk at least 2 but my day is chaos. I get up at 330am- oats with water no sugar for breakfast. Bike 4.5 miles to work. Am on my feet for my 8hr shift. Dinner is a wholemeal sarnie, banana, some grapes and cherry tomatoes.
I bike 4.5 miles home and then walk the very slow, sniffy sausage dog for 2 miles.
By half 3 I'm sat on the sofa. And then I'm in the fridge.
And that's where it goes wrong. I'm in bed for 9 so we're only really talking 5hrs ( and the weekends) but I can happily pile on half a stone in that time!
I would be a perfect candidate for the injections but they just don't float my boat I'm afraid.

Apologies for the mega essay!
Thanks for reading.

Can I join too please? I need/want to lose 3 stone and hoping to do that this year…

I have done SW before but tried it again last month and found it wasn’t for me this time. I know what I need to do just need the motivation so I am hoping this group will be it 😊

MrsSethGecko · 30/01/2025 15:56

Hello @HelloDaisy and@Rowgtfc72!

herewegoagain2025 · 30/01/2025 21:10

@Rowgtfc72 hello! Absolutely, welcome. You sound like a superhero, I was knackered just reading all the running around you do! Completely feel you on having a decent time calories wise up until a certain point - I can ruin the day within 5 mins nevermind 5 hours 🤣. Here for what you need!

Ps my parents have a sausage dog who they are at the complete mercy of; he's either as fast as a racing snake or refuses to move, no in between

@HelloDaisy hey, absolutely! Understand totally about the SW stuff - I lost a good chunk previously but it just wasn't working for me. I've found this thread really helpful so hopefully you will too 😊

Thank you 😊
I am currently 13stone but aiming for 10. I’m going to take it steady so it becomes a way of life rather than starving myself.

My meals are fine and balanced but I snack all day long and have a bad sugar addiction so any tips on how to curb that would be great!

adamduritzvocalchords · 31/01/2025 22:19

Can I join please? I weighed 13st 1lbs on 1st Jan and am down to 12.4.5 today. I am sick of going up and down. I have joined a gym and am trying to go every other day and eat healthily but know usually I get a few weeks in and motivation starts to slide. I have had a really rough month so the weight loss is probably all stress related but I will take it as the only positive of the month!

Christmasbargainhunter · 01/02/2025 08:28

Good morning everyone, how are you all today?
I too tried SW in the past. I lost a lot of weight then gradually gained it all back again because I didn't learn to control my food intake in a relaxed, settled way. I ultimately starved myself but that's not sustainable.

I've worked really hard all week to make healthy choices and I'm feeling really good for it today. I just need to be careful not to sabotage it over the weekend. I can eat and pick without realising it.

I hope you're all motivated for a good weekend. The sun is shining as it rises here and it's a great mood lifter.

MrsSethGecko · 01/02/2025 10:03

Morning, it's grey and dreary here, again.
I haven't lost anything this week despite sticking to it and walking 7 miles a day, I was very tempted to do my usual "chuck it in and get a kebab" but I didn't so there's that.

Rowgtfc72 · 01/02/2025 10:13

Morning
Was very good for most of yesterday. Only had half my pack up at work as I was out for a belated birthday lunch with dh. It was carvery so piled the veg high!
Skipped tea as I definitely wasn't hungry and as a result ate half a tub of pringles and a bag of Reeses.
We shopped while I was hungry and I hate waste so all bets are off now till Monday.
Interestingly enough I was speaking to a lady at work who is on the injections.
Her days food consisted of a protein shake, a small pasta salad and an egg sandwich and packet of crisps.
Surely just cutting down on food is doing the same thing as a jab?
I just need to learn to say " no, I don't need that"
I'm still aiming for 15st 4 by 1st March.

Have a good weekend everyone.😁

adamduritzvocalchords · 01/02/2025 21:23

I had an Indian takeaway last night but only ate a third and then had more for my lunch and chips for tea. Awful 24 hours of eating! I also have a jiggly injury which is stopping me being able to go to the gym so feeling a bit rubbish today

MrsSethGecko · 02/02/2025 07:57

I'm having a diet crisis this morning. Been on it since August and I'm just fed up.
I don't want to stop but it feels a bit miserable today.

So I've set my calorie counting at maintain, I won't eat that much, but it'll stop me feeling despondent if I go over the diet calories a bit of that makes sense!

Hope everyone is getting on ok!

Cinderellahasletherselfgo · 02/02/2025 23:39

@MrsSethGecko well done on your new coat!! Completely understand about dieting being, well, boring - and quite daunting if you're looking at doing it for months/ years to get down to a reasonable weight. I have 70lb to lose and when I think about losing a pound a week, I realise it will be well over a year for me to lose it all...

@HelloDaisy I went to a SW group which was amazing, and one which was completely uninspiring - the leader was really quite chubby herself (not that I'm one to talk here Confused) and concentrated on her 'regulars' rather than making everyone else feel welcome too. I just used to weigh in and then go home and try to work it all out myself!

@Rowgtfc72 I'm very impressed by your exercise! Do you think perhaps you're not eating enough protein, hence why you end up starving? So rather than having a wholemeal sandwich and fruit etc, you could have a chicken salad with plenty of chicken, some boiled eggs and so on. The way I understand the WLI is that they remove a lot of your appetite - so where those calories would fulfil your colleague's hunger, you would still be hungry unless you're eating things for the same calories which fill you up more. I could be wrong though as I haven't investigated it properly myself, couldn't afford the jabs and I'm not keen on going down that road...

@herewegoagain2025 I pass a neighbour walking her sausage dog every day on the school run, it always cheers me up as he's so little and cute!!

PlantDoctor · 03/02/2025 00:10

Hi all, sorry just dipping in and out quickly on the way to bed. I've had a rubbish week as DD has been off sick so DH and I have been trying to juggle looking after her and making sure we both make it to our trainings and meetings. Luckily our companies are both fine with flexible hours for things like this! DDog is also in and out of the vets and has to have a (very expensive) CT scan tomorrow on a strange lump. Hoping it's nothing too serious, but he's getting on so I'm worried about the anaesthetic too.

All that to say, we've eaten crap this week! Have gained a little back, but all fixable now DD is hopefully well again!

That's quite a good idea! I might try that this week :)

Edit: I just changed it and it says my maintenance is 2880! Jeez, that's crazy.

Cutting down food is the same I think. It's just easier to eat that little on injections. Having said that her food sounds far too little and not very nutritious anyway!

Rowgtfc72 · 03/02/2025 04:37

@PlantDoctor Crossing fingers all is well with dog.

@Cinderellahasletherselfgo doctor did me for ibs a few years ago, turns out it may just be a gluten and dairy intolerance. However lots of things send me to the loo. Hate the taste of meat but fortunately love chicken. I boiled lots of eggs yesterday and I'm looking at a tuna sandwich for tea.

MrsSethGecko · 03/02/2025 07:41

@PlantDoctor my maintenance calories are 2489 Blush but yesterday I only got to 1980 or thereabouts.
Hope your dog is ok today x

Wehaditsogood · 03/02/2025 14:28

How do you know what your maintenance calories are?

MrsSethGecko · 03/02/2025 16:08

Nutracheck @Wehaditsogood , I find it much better than MyFitnessPal for tracking calories.

That was exactly my experience of SW! Perhaps you live near me 😁
Sadly she seems to be running all of them in the local area so I’m stuck unless I want to drive further out of town.

I have just signed up for myfitnesspal so will see how I get on with that…

adamduritzvocalchords · 03/02/2025 22:30

Do you have to pay for nutracheck? I use my fitness pal but I'm not sure I really get on with it

@adamduritzvocalchords it's about £30 for the year and they do offers, you can get a month free to start I think.

Bowling4soup · 04/02/2025 10:04

Hi I am sneaking in......I have just got weighed and was upset to see I weigh 21st 5 :( I'm 5"4, age 34.

Ive just got nutracheck and have logged my cup of tea which I've had so far so I'm going to try and track everything for a day. My TDEE has given me 1800 calories a day

I don't do much exercise, we bought a second hand treadmill a few weeks ago but the motor broke on the first use, I'm too embarrassed to suggest to DH that it probably broke because I'm so heavy, I'm gutted as I would love a treadmill at home. I might try YouTube workout videos instead.

I have 2 children age 4&6 and I only work evenings and weekends so have no excuses to not get organised with meal planning etc.

sorry for waffling on

I am hoping to check in daily if thats okay. I need to do this for my health.
I'm also attending a wedding in May abroad. I would really love to lose a couple of stone by then. I'm scared I won't fit in the seatbelt on the plane and everyone in the wedding party would know

It's okay though because I got weighed today- I put that off all through January but today I did it and will begin
