I’ve had a lot of success with HBD but have really gone off the rails with a holiday and then Christmas. I’m planning to start a reset on 7th Jan - anyone else planning the same? X

I'm aiming for 60kg too.

Brilliant! Did you start today too?
yeah when I started hbd the whole breakfast / coffee thing was one of the biggest concerns but I got used to it and now it’s a real habit xx

OP posts:
HelenHywater · 07/01/2025 08:34

Yep, I've started today. Needed to wait until my dd's birthday (yesterday) was out of the way before going for it

I've been worrying about the epsom salts this morning as I have a yoga class at 9.30 and don't want them to hit while I'm there! So am waiting until I get back. Other than that, I'm following it to the letter....

Mylazycatspyjamas · 07/01/2025 08:36

Could someone explain the principles of it? I have never heard of it.

Justhere65 · 07/01/2025 11:02

That is very positive … thank you. My favourite meal of the day is a nice breakfast and a milky coffee so that is where I will struggle. Just started today!

HelenHywater · 07/01/2025 11:46

here @Mylazycatspyjamas

Basically 2 days on a veg detox, then 16 days on stage 2 - where you have to eat 3 meals a day but no snacking and no wheat, dairy, alcohol, fat etc (basically veg and protein) and then stage 3 is a bit more relaxed and lasts as long as you need it to.

I'm going to switch my black coffee in bed to a hot water and lemon and then have coffee with breakfast I think.

Am going to make a soup today and have weighed and measured myself. (Hard 75 calls for daily photos too so if that isn't an incentive to stick to this, I don't know what is...)

Thank you all. Sounds like I'd be wise to get the proper book as well.

I'm keen to get started but I don't know when to do the epsom salts as I have things on each day this week. What are people's experiences with how soon a toilet was needed after taking them?

Book is a good idea. The salts are not mandatory but they can help with detox symptoms . I find if I take them about 630/7 am then have breakfast around 730 ish then the loo about 830/9…. But I think everyone is different!

so day 2 of phase 1 done - hurray! Now on to phase 2. I’m dreaming of boiled eggs…. Words I never thought I’d say!

OP posts:
Justhere65 · 08/01/2025 20:22

I have just completed day 2 also and also dreaming of boiled eggs but a little confused about yoghurt?

Fluffywithteeth · 08/01/2025 20:47

In the book she recommends avoiding dairy and then reintroducing slowly in p3 so you can detect if you have any issues …. X

Agree with @Fluffywithteeth , it is a bit of a confusing one in the book, I’ve seen it questioned in the past, and she says that. I think it’s good to see whether or not it agrees with you which is part of the process. Also, in phase 3, some people find it can slow weight loss or make them less… regular!

Justhere65 · 09/01/2025 18:33

How is everyone doing?

first day of p2 - hurrah y! Nice to have some protein and an apple. Distracted myself with some meal prepping- soup, frittata and some salad bits.

how are you doing?

OP posts:
HelenHywater · 09/01/2025 20:36

I've just done day 1 of P2. I was famished by this evening but loved my apple!

I know you're not meant to weigh yourself, but I have put on 1kg doing P1! I hope it's just bloating from the veg and all the water I'm drinking.

I'm quite liking ACV in sparkling water (I think she suggests that somewhere in the book). Missing hot drinks during the day though. I don't normally eat breakfast, but had to have it early so I could have my coffee! (I had smoked salmon which was bloody delicious).

How's everyone else finding it?

Justhere65 · 09/01/2025 23:01

I’ve just done day 1 of P2. Missing my milky coffees but otherwise I have felt okay although I was starving this evening. ACV in sparkling water sounds lovely, I’ll try it tomorrow. This is the first time I have felt so positive about a diet.

Justhere65 · 10/01/2025 09:44

Good morning everyone hope it is a good day. Just thought I would show you a photo of all the treats we have left over from Christmas that I can’t eat 😳

Oh that is gutting!!! I had the opposite strategy - snarfed it all before I began!

OP posts:
HelenHywater · 10/01/2025 16:55

I've got an unopened Panettone - I checked the use by date before I started this. And quite a lot of Christmas cake. We only had Quality Street left so I'm not hugely tempted by that.

I do find the afternoons harder - the 5 hours seems longer. I suspect because if my snacking habit in the afternoon. Plus if I ever wanted sugar or something sweet, that's when that kicked in. Have noticed the scales heading in the right direction at last!

I'm looking forward to P3!

Fluffywithteeth · 10/01/2025 20:28

That’s brilliant @HelenHywater ! I’m not weighing til end of p2 but I can already feel I’m fitting in my jeans a bit better - I’m hoping I can get quite close to my target weight by the end of p2 - 2 days down the, 12 to go!

OP posts:
HelenHywater · 10/01/2025 20:36

I had the mince burger and portobello mushroom tonight and it was bloody gorgeous! I'm definitely enjoying the taste of my food more.

I won't get to my target weight in P2, but happy to carry on for 10 weeks or whatever.

Justhere65 · 10/01/2025 21:00

The butternut squash and butter bean soup is good and very filling. I am determined to carry on and lose my weight.

girluwant2 · 11/01/2025 13:53

Yes! Almost done 7 days now.. so P2 D4… never dieted before but got the kindle edition of the book and have high hopes for it. Good luck everyone

HelenHywater · 13/01/2025 14:46

hi all, hope the diet's going well!

I am confused by the fruit - is it correct that you can have 100g of fruit with a meal in P2? I didn't realise that. And I was also doing ACV wrong and having it in water in between meals.

Does lemon also count as a fruit and I shouldn't be having it in hot water in between meals?

I think the book is quite unclear in lots of places!

My bowels have also ground to a halt. Have had to take a lot of magnesium!

Hi @HelenHywater - yes that’s right - lemon counts and therefore no drinking it between meals - really water only without anything (except electrolytes) added

and yes constipation is definitely a thing! It does get better but for me I found not fully resolved until well into P3 You could also try cascara compound from petronella website

hope you’re finding it ok otherwise? Am really feeling peckish - not hungry but just like I really need either an extra apple of piece of toast!

I have been drinking water with a slice of lemon too and my bowels have also gone on strike! I am longing for a piece of toast or Neil of porridge but I am going to continue. Good luck everyone!

HelenHywater · 13/01/2025 18:27

yes I was reading about the cascara compound!

I don't fully understand about fruit - you're allowed 100g of fruit after a meal are you? (I didn't see this before, and can't really make sense of the book on this).

I couldn't find fish stock in waitrose today so will have to use (shock, horror) a stock pot thingie. I made the salmon parcel for lunch out of the recipe book and it was very tasty!
