Lose 2 stone (12.5kg) with me before summer 💪

Journeyintomelody · 28/12/2024 07:15

Who's in? Weighed myself this morning and CW is 65.1kg although im not technically overweight, I am heavier than I like. My GW is 53kg.

I'm going to post my progress (and my strategy) every Saturday morning. It's mostly for my own accountability but I hope the thread will also help others.

Since being diagnosed with lupus and PCOS I have found it harder to lose weight. I also find that being a lower BMI reduces my symptoms. I put on 2 stone after having my baby which I would like to shift before my 30th birthday 😅 I'm also breastfeeding so my weight loss is going to be slow and steady. This isn't a competitive 'who can lose the most weight the fastest' kind of thread - it's about supporting each other over the long run. Feel free to join in wherever you are on your weight loss journey 😊

I am making a few changes to my diet.
Switching my hearty porridge and peanut butter for breakfast to scrambled egg (2 eggs on one slice sour dough) and coffee.
Lunch will be chicken and veggies.
Dinner will be a graze board - carrot celery hummus, apple slices, and rye bread with honey and cinnamon 😋
Ginger and lemon tea in the evening

If I get hungry between meals my plan is to have a couple of spoons of zero fat cottage cheese...

@Pancakeorcrepe I went through the same thought process. I'm to have photos and measurements taken on Monday which I'm rather dreading but hopefully seeing the progress later will be motivating.

Morning everyone

I've started today on a disappointed note as weight is the same as last week despite doing 4 HIIT workouts and following the low carb, high protein diet plan which quite frankly, I'm finding quite hard. I've had a few minor slip-ups as had 2 packets of crisps and a handful of mini eggs over a couple of days when cravings hit quite hard. My thinking is that I'm building muscle which weighs more than fat so could still be losing fat and inches despite no change on the scales but it's just a bit disheartening considering the effort I'm putting in. I will stick at it though and will do a load of batch-cooking this weekend to prepare lunches & dinners to make it easier to stick to plan.

On a more positive note though I do feel better for doing some regular exercise and my skin is clearer and softer with all the water I'm drinking. My belly doesn't look any smaller but I think my upper arms feel less flabby so will see what the measuring tape says on my first Body Coach check-in in 10 days time.

Sorry for the long, grumpy post. Hope you're all doing well, making progress and feeling good.

Starting weight: 71.7kg (1/1/25)
Current weight: 67.6kg
Mini goal: 67kg by mid Feb
Next goal: 65kg by Easter
Long term goal: 57kg - could take all year but ideally in 6 months from now.

Pancakeorcrepe · 26/01/2025 15:03

@R00tat00tt00t don’t be discouraged, you can do this!
Sometimes weight sticks on a bit longer on certain weeks and then you have a “woosh”.
Are you counting calories or just doing the low carb/ high protein diet? Are you doing strength training too or just HIIT?

Bluepenguin2 · 26/01/2025 15:08

I'm joining too, can't stop stuffing my face lately and my trousers have become very tight, I need to stop this in its tracks and need some accountability!

Bluepenguin2 · 26/01/2025 15:12

SW: 12st 12lb
GW: 11st
Goal date: 31 July

Main priorities:

  • cut out snacking or at least replace with crudites and hummus
  • exercise minimum once per week
  • reduce alcohol at home
BlueGoats · 26/01/2025 15:54

Haven't noticeably lost anything this week, but early days. Planning to go swimming next week, so that should help a bit

Mylittlebobble · 26/01/2025 17:16

Checking in. I've put two pounds on 🤦‍♀️My hormones are all over the place and I'd been very hungry just before I got my period a week early. Last couple of days, I've felt a bit more restrained and hoping to up my activity levels. Tomorrow is a new day!

Journeyintomelody · 26/01/2025 19:05

My weight stayed the same this week but I haven't been actively sticking to a diet 🤦 It's been a tough start to the year in some ways. Looking forward to getting back into a running routine in February. Still feeling positive about hitting my target by summer. Or at least, getting close to it 😊 well done everyone for the hard work so far. Whether the scales are up down or the same it's all part of the process.

Hey can I join?

I want to lose 6kg. I'm not sure what that is in old money,

I eat too much (no shit!!). But specifically I do a lot of running (40k / week). And for that reason I'm always quite hungry / feel I can pack away anything. I cannot.

So..tomorrow. Back to 16:8 fasting, and I'm going to cut out peanut butter because it is alarming how much I eat....

If anyone has any good suggestions / things to read about changing relationship with food I'd be grateful. I feel so obsessed by eating and then not eating etc, I'd just like to be normal, eat some food, and then live my life. Not live my life to eat or not eat food if that makes sense...

Do you eat much protein? I could eat all day usually but if I prioritise protein I'm mostly satisfied.

There are days when I want more so it's not perfect but it helps a lot.

Gaslitbygynae · 27/01/2025 12:05

Thank you. Yes I try to eat protein but I think this has turned into overeating as well. Basically I eat when I'm not hungry which is the problem.

I have come down with illness overnight tho which had made me for once not want to eat. So I suppose silver linings 🤣

R00tat00tt00t · 01/02/2025 12:26

Happy Saturday!

Thanks for the support @Pancakeorcrepe - you were absolutely right as this week I have hit (and overshot) my first target weight that I didn't expect to get to until mid-Feb.
Really pleased as it's 18 months since I've been that weight and I got there in just 1 month! I'm doing 4 HIIT workouts to start off with but will build in some strength too. Not calorie counting although Body Coach calculates a small deficit into your individual plan anyway. Main difference is that only have proper carbs as a refuel meal after exercise and even then it's a relatively small portion.
More protein and more salad & veg and water but plenty of food and never hungry.

Today's weight: 66.2kg
Starting weight 1/1/25: 71.7kg
Next target: can't remember! Maybe 62kg by Easter?

Pancakeorcrepe · 01/02/2025 12:29

@R00tat00tt00t well done, that’s amazing! It’s so exciting to have these big wins. Keep doing what you are doing 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Bessica1970 · 01/02/2025 12:35

I’m late to the party but I’ve put on 14lb since December and I have a wedding to go to in April so really need to get a grip!

Start weight (SW): 11 stone 12lb
Current Weight (CW): 11 stone 12lb
Goal Weight (GW): 10 stone
So that's - nothing yet, first day

This might help me make good decisions this week

R00tat00tt00t · 01/02/2025 12:38

Thanks @Pancakeorcrepe , I'm really chuffed! I've got my first proper Body Coach "check-in" on Tuesday so will see where the weight has come off. I'm hoping to shift the most of my belly as I'm an awful apple shape so no problem with hips or legs but I think I can see a lot off my bust which isn't too bad as I was starting to look rather matronly 😂

R00tat00tt00t · 01/02/2025 12:59

Hi @Bessica1970
Welcome to the group!

What are your thoughts on how you are going to lose weight? What type of eating plan (not a diet 😂) are you going to follow and have you thought about exercise?

Good luck! You can do this.

annonymousse · 01/02/2025 13:07

Weekly check in...
SW 118kg
CW 114.4kg

Had my first proper session with my personal trainer on Thursday. I'm feeling positive and focussed. Long may it continue!

19751974P · 01/02/2025 13:10

Hello all, can I join? I'd like to lose two stone by summer. I'll probably do intermittent fasting to achieve it, maybe OMAD some days - a slightly flexible approach!

I'm trying to walk 8-10k a day most days and also going to add 15 minute weights workouts three times a week, maybe increasing in duration as time goes on.

I'm 5"2 and too scared to get on the scales (LOL) but will weigh tomorrow.

Bessica1970 · 01/02/2025 13:44

Thank you @R00tat00tt00t
I’m thinking maybe a bit of intermittent fasting (not eating after 7pm) which has worked well in the past, and filling up on fruit and protein.

I do a lot of walking in my day job and work very long hours, so planned exercise during the week won’t work but I need to move more at the weekend.

R00tat00tt00t · 09/02/2025 20:29

Hello

Weekly check-in (including first body coach cycle check-in with measurements.

SW: 71.7kg
CW: 66kg
Next goal: 62kg by Easter
Long term/end goal: 57kg (ideally by August but don't mind if longer).

Measurements:
Chest -3cm
Waist -12cm!!
Hips -4cm
Arms -1cm each
Thighs - no change but legs quite slim anyway

I'm feeling quite chuffed although still a long way to go and results likely to be slower from now on after the initial drop.

Still enjoying the exercise and diet, just need to plan & prep for both to stay on track.

How is everyone else getting on?

Pancakeorcrepe · 11/02/2025 14:07

@R00tat00tt00t omg what amazing results! Your waist 😮😮😮
I’ve been weighing myself pretty much every day to keep close track. I’ve lost 1kg in a week. I’m being consistent with 15k steps a day,3x weights sessions a week and 1700 calories a day. My biggest improvement this week is “weekend eating”. I used to get into treat mode on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Now I eat normally on Fridays and have one controlled treat on Saturday and on Sunday but make up for it on the same day (smaller dinner).

annonymousse · 11/02/2025 14:11

I'm feeling very chuffed. I've been working with a personal trainer for 2 weeks doing strength training and low carb diet. I had my first progress assessment yesterday. In 2 weeks I've lost 1.9kg and 15cm(!!) in measurements. It's motivated me to keep going.

R00tat00tt00t · 23/02/2025 19:59

Hello, how is everyone getting on? Hope you're all well.

I fell off the bandwagon big style last week as was off with the kids for half term which messed up my routine a bit. Basically did no HIIT workouts for a week although did manage a few long walks. Eating went totally out the window with more carbs than I'd planned on plus alcohol.
No progress on the scales for the past 2 weeks but could be worse as haven't regained any weight.
Back on it now with the HIIT and low carb, high protein diet.
Still aiming for 62kg by Easter with a preliminary target of 65kg by 7th March.

socks1107 · 23/02/2025 20:37

I'm still doing well, I've lost a stone and dropped a size in my jeans. I'm eating well, going to the gym and walking lots.
Biggest challenge is drinking water but I'm trying!

NorthernGirl1981 · 24/02/2025 08:08

Hi all,

Is there room for another member?

Over the last 18 months I have slowly but surely put on 1.5 stones and I’m so unhappy with how I look. I have my reasons for my weight gain but I I also know that I’ve been lazy with exercise and eating too much crap.

I am determined to lost this extra weight.

My current main issue is breakfast! I need something quick and easy (mornings are crazy here with two young children), so a feral or Porto side would be ideal, but they all seem full of sugar and calories.

Can anyone give me any suggestions?

ps) Good luck to everyone else here!!
