Lose 2 stone (12.5kg) with me before summer 💪

Journeyintomelody · 28/12/2024 07:15

Who's in? Weighed myself this morning and CW is 65.1kg although im not technically overweight, I am heavier than I like. My GW is 53kg.

I'm going to post my progress (and my strategy) every Saturday morning. It's mostly for my own accountability but I hope the thread will also help others.

Since being diagnosed with lupus and PCOS I have found it harder to lose weight. I also find that being a lower BMI reduces my symptoms. I put on 2 stone after having my baby which I would like to shift before my 30th birthday 😅 I'm also breastfeeding so my weight loss is going to be slow and steady. This isn't a competitive 'who can lose the most weight the fastest' kind of thread - it's about supporting each other over the long run. Feel free to join in wherever you are on your weight loss journey 😊

I am making a few changes to my diet.
Switching my hearty porridge and peanut butter for breakfast to scrambled egg (2 eggs on one slice sour dough) and coffee.
Lunch will be chicken and veggies.
Dinner will be a graze board - carrot celery hummus, apple slices, and rye bread with honey and cinnamon 😋
Ginger and lemon tea in the evening

If I get hungry between meals my plan is to have a couple of spoons of zero fat cottage cheese...

Hi @Journeyintomelody thanks for the info
on your thread & link!

I'm here, I'm in ..... I will weigh tomorrow ..... I'm guessing I've 3 to 4 stone to loose .....

Good luck with tomorrows weigh in all .... and if like me your scales are not where you want them to be ... well we can start to change that now 🏋️

DuckDuckDuckGooseDuck · 04/01/2025 01:48

Hey, please can I join you all? I'm the biggest by a long way, currently 152kg. Back to back steroids and not able to exercise has piled on the pounds. I have rheumatoid arthritis and PCOS so it's nice to find a thread with other autoimmune people. Any weight I can lose is a good thing right now and 12.5kg for the summer seems achievable.

Love your salad! I'm going to add that to next week's meal plan.

Journeyintomelody · 04/01/2025 03:40

@DuckDuckDuckGooseDuck hi, thanks for joining us!

Please post your weigh in if you feel happy to do so! I think this really helps with accountability but it also is a good way to guage what real weight loss looks like. Obviously that looks different for everyone but is often nothing like the claims made on social media! I'll go first:

Week 1
Start weight (SW): 65.1kg
Current Weight (CW): 63.6kg
Goal Weight (GW): 53kg
So that's -1.5kg this week.

That's mostly water weight and bloat gone. But still it feels good to see the scales moving in the right direction.

Last night's dinner was steamed hake(90 kcal per fillet), some green veggies (didn't bother counting) and a couple of spoonfuls of leftover kidney beans (approx 60kcal).

Morning everyone, good luck with the weigh in.

Well done OP, 1.5kg is awesome!!

My stats:

SW: 72.1kg
CW: 71.1kg
GW: 60kg

1kg this week. Keep going everyone.

This is brekkie today. Overnight oats with Oatbran

100g 2% yoghurt
20g Oatbran
Splash of sugar free oat milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla bean paste

Stir and refrigerate overnight then topped with blueberries, strawberries and pumpkin seeds.

Approx 300 calories 😋

Can I join in? I'd love to drop a stone or two by summer. I have been very lazy over the Christmas break and need to get back to a better diet and up my exercise.

Weigh in yesterday was 156lbs.

I'm post menopause and find it very difficult to lose any weight.

Journeyintomelody · 04/01/2025 15:23

@TheRozzers ohhh that breakfast looks yum. Haven't had overnight oats for ages!

DuckDuckDuckGooseDuck · 04/01/2025 23:30

Thanks @Journeyintomelody

I forgot to weigh in this morning, but will do it tomorrow (Sunday) for this week and then weigh in on Saturday from next week onwards.

Hoping to get back into chair yoga each morning from Monday.

Achangeisnow · 06/01/2025 06:25

Morning all,

I weighed yesterday morning 🥹

Week 1
Start weight (SW): 13.2st
Current Weight (CW): 13.2st
Current target: 12.2st
Goal Weight (GW): 9.7st

I've got over 3 and a half stone to loose!!

Thought I'd make it more manageable (less overwhelming) and aim for a stone loss at a time.

I've been juggling work & kids off from school so not much time for food prep or planning yet.

My kids are fussy eaters .... so it may be easier if I prepare a separate meal for me each night & enjoy something healthy & delicious.

If anyone has recommended recipes please share 😊

Hi! That sounds like really a good plan. Have you thought about treating yourself to something when you reach your first goal. Like a haircut or some perfume etc. That way the goal is really something to aim for instead of just a milestone?

I felt guilty about the black banana I didn't get round to eating this week so made banana bread loaf with no added sugar. I shared it with baby DD for breakfast with a big dollop of fage 0% yogurt (got to hit that protein target 🎯)

I'm going to get the things today for overnight oats :)

I'm also ordering another jug for my ninja soup/smoothie maker. It's fantastic for soup but impossible to get the strong herb, spices smell out and do smoothies etc in.

Have been enjoying having soup the last few days for lunch. When it arrives I can alternate between smoothies and overnight oats for breakfast :)

I've suddenly realised I shouldn't walk around with holey clothes .... so as I notice they are part their best they are going straight in the bin.

For every stone I loose it's a change to shed some more old clothes & bring in some new ... that's my goal 🎉

socks1107 · 06/01/2025 08:22

Well I put on this week. 2kg.
I'm fed up and demotivated already!

annonymousse · 06/01/2025 08:59

I'm calorie counting. It's such a faff weighing everything but I've been rewarded with 1kg off this week. I'm going on holiday in a week so will try for another kg before I go. I'm feeling anxious about food when I'm away. I want to relax but also worried if I stop the diet mindset I will struggle to get back on it when I get home.

AnxiousRose · 06/01/2025 11:37

Hi all,

I weighed in yesterday morning. I was the heaviest I have ever been. Have been around 9 stone my entire adult life but over the past year I have put on more than a stone. I think it's a mix of perimenopause, comfort eating and not exercising as much as usual.

Start weight 145.6lb
Current target 130lb
Goal weight 126lb

I would love to be under 140lb by the end of the month.

I am going to cut out sugar and eat my last meal before 6pm.

Tiggi7 · 06/01/2025 19:15

Hi everyone, I fell off this thread... I also fell off my diet Blush I come to you from the bottom of a box of Monty Bojangles

I've had a hard time the last few days, and it's led to me eating absolute rubbish. Lots of bread, lots of chocolate. But I need to stop with the excuses, because I feel like absolute crap now so what's the point?

I'm going to start weighing myself again as of tomorrow morning, and I will try to keep myself accountable!

MrsG2132 · 06/01/2025 19:23

I’m in after tomorrow when my youngest starts nursery and I have a bit of time to myself for the first time in years!

DuckDuckDuckGooseDuck · 06/01/2025 21:39

Hey everyone,

Finally weighed in yesterday morning:

Start 17/12: 152.2kg
05/01: 148.7kg (3.5kg lost so far)
Mini target: 140kg
Next target: 128kg
Main aim: 119kg

I'm happy with 3.5kg in just over two weeks, especially over Christmas etc. My long term goal is too big to write down so I'm taking it in small easier to reach targets. Main aim to focus on is to sit comfortably on my camping chair without being over the weight limit!!

Journeyintomelody · 07/01/2025 04:05

@DuckDuckDuckGooseDuck well done! 3.5kf is amazing. You're clearly in a proper deficit.💪

@MrsG2132 hello! Thanks for joining us!

Tiggi7 · 07/01/2025 09:48

Weighed myself this morning, and I'm 130lb. The last time I weighed myself was Christmas Eve, and I was 122lb then. Reminding myself that I was 135lb in October, so I'm still ahead of where I was.

I want to get down to 110lb. This is where I was before I started having children four years ago!

Journeyintomelody · 07/01/2025 14:45

@mumsnet curious as to why one of my earlier posts was taken down? 🤷

Had a nice lunch today. Sweet potato, homemade baked beans (spicy!), mint, feta and cucumber 😋 same again tomorrow.

Lose 2 stone (12.5kg) with me before summer 💪

Wampyr · 07/01/2025 15:02

Can I join you? I have about 2.5 stone to lose. Started yesterday with a healthy hummus salad for lunch and homemade veggie soup for dinner. Will be having a variation on the same today.

Had planned some long dog walks for this week but we're a tad snowed in so that will have to wait.

DuckDuckDuckGooseDuck · 07/01/2025 15:24

That looks lovely @Journeyintomelody I had wholemeal wrap, onion hummus, and an apple for my lunch.

Mylittlebobble · 07/01/2025 15:47

Hi, can I join in?

Thinking some accountability might help with my decision making.

I was 133lb before perimenopause.
I'm now 151lb.
Mini goal is 147lb.
Long term goal is 140lb.

On the face of it, looks like small numbers but it's not that easy anymore.

R00tat00tt00t · 08/01/2025 10:33

Hello! I've been lurking for a while but am ready to join you all now if that's okay?

The weight has gradually crept on over the past 10 years since having my last DC but it reached my all time high/low (depending on perspective) this winter and I'm now 2 stone heavier than I should be/want to be. I'm quite short so even a relatively small weight gain shows quite obviously. Clothes don't fit nicely anymore and verging on needing to go up a size which I am not willing to accept. My belly is revolting and starting to affect my confidence re; body image. I look like a sack of spuds!

I do eat too much in terms of portion size particularly carbs and am bad for snacking. Was also getting into the habit of having a glass of wine every few nights just because I could. I don't do any formal exercise as I don't really enjoy it ( I know that's a terrible excuse) but I do try to walk a lot.

So...

Starting weight: 71.7kg (1/1/25)
Current weight: 69.5kg (8/1/25)
Mini goal: 67kg by mid Feb
Next goal: 65kg by Easter
Long term goal: 57kg - could take all year but ideally in 6 months from now.

Also need to measure my waist as this is where I want to see a reduction in size so will be motivated by changes there.

I'm basically going to move more with 10,000+ steps per day and home HIIT sessions 3-4 x week. Also eat less carbs and more protein, fruit & veg. Dry January to kick start it all too.

Will check-in every weekend.

Good luck everyone!

blahple · 08/01/2025 12:36

90.5kg on 1st Jan
89.7kg 8th Jan

the first couple of kg aren't too hard to shift I find, but I usually hit a stumbling block around 88.5 and fall off the wagon then eat it. really trying not to do that this time 💪
