Lose 2 stone (12.5kg) with me before summer 💪

Journeyintomelody · 28/12/2024 07:15

Who's in? Weighed myself this morning and CW is 65.1kg although im not technically overweight, I am heavier than I like. My GW is 53kg.

I'm going to post my progress (and my strategy) every Saturday morning. It's mostly for my own accountability but I hope the thread will also help others.

Since being diagnosed with lupus and PCOS I have found it harder to lose weight. I also find that being a lower BMI reduces my symptoms. I put on 2 stone after having my baby which I would like to shift before my 30th birthday 😅 I'm also breastfeeding so my weight loss is going to be slow and steady. This isn't a competitive 'who can lose the most weight the fastest' kind of thread - it's about supporting each other over the long run. Feel free to join in wherever you are on your weight loss journey 😊

I am making a few changes to my diet.
Switching my hearty porridge and peanut butter for breakfast to scrambled egg (2 eggs on one slice sour dough) and coffee.
Lunch will be chicken and veggies.
Dinner will be a graze board - carrot celery hummus, apple slices, and rye bread with honey and cinnamon 😋
Ginger and lemon tea in the evening

If I get hungry between meals my plan is to have a couple of spoons of zero fat cottage cheese...

Another lunch idea...
Crab salad, but instead of mayo I used cottage cheese and fage yogurt 😋

I've not been very diligent, but I've found this thread again and would like to get back on track.

SW: 75kg
CW: 73.8kg
Goal 1: 67kg (May)
Goal 2: 64kg (as long as it takes).

Journeyintomelody · 11/01/2025 05:29

Good morning everyone. Came to post my weigh in.

Week 2
Start weight (SW): 65.1kg
Last week's weight (LW): 63.6kg
Current Weight (CW): 62.9kg
Goal Weight (GW): 53kg

So that's -0.7kg this week.

Feel like I didn't lose a lot considering how much effort I put in. (Until yesterday when I was a little piggy 😋). Still happy that the scale is moving in the right direction. Good luck to everyone weighing in today. 😊

Good morning everyone, happy Saturday!

Great to hear of everyone's progress so far. Here are my stats:

Starting weight: 71.7kg (1/1/25)
Current weight: 68.3kg (11/1)
Mini goal: 67kg by mid Feb
Next goal: 65kg by Easter
Long term goal: 57kg - could take all year but ideally in 6 months from now.

Weight loss so far: 3.4kg! I'm amazed really as haven't even started exercising yet because of all this snow & ice making getting out more difficult and commute longer. I think the first few kilos was easy as was probably extra weight on top of my usual caused by excess alcohol, snacking and puddings over festive period but the rest has been down to fewer carbs and more protein, salad veg and water; so feeling full for longer without having carb heavy snacks.

Going to try and do a HIIT workout this weekend and make a homemade fakeaway feast for dinner rather than an actual takeaway.

Keep up the good work and share any tips and motivation with us all.

socks1107 · 11/01/2025 09:55

I've lost 1.5kg. Happy with that today.

CW 85.5
GW 70

Saturday's are always my no counting calories day but I intend to stay mindful of what I'm having

F1rugby23 · 12/01/2025 08:13

Can I join? Looking to lose nearly 2 stone.

Current weight: 72kg/11st4
Target weight: 60kg/9st6

Plan for Jan: no alcohol, no processed snacks (biscuits, crisps, choc), healthy eating. More exercise and more sleep.

Breakfast: greek yoghurt/fruit, nuts, oats (weighed out to be around 300 cal) Lunch: salad or soup with 1/2 sandwich lunch
Snacks: boiled egg or hummus with carrot sticks
Dinner: chicken or fish with lots of veg, smaller carb portion than normal

I have also started Caroline Girvan Iron with 5kg weights, might get a set of 8kg weights as well soon. I walk everyday and also swim/run/do gym classes (occasionally so plan to increase this if I can/have time!!!).

Trying to be in bed by 10, read till 10.30 - not really working well so far though!!

If by Feb, I haven't lost any weight will do as above but might start stricter diet ie cut carb more!! In peri menopause and feeling pretty rotten so want to ease in by just being extremely healthy before resorting to official diet. Am hoping just stopping alcohol snd snacks will have an affect!!

Looks great, I was shocked how many calories there are in mayo!! Have been adding greek yoghurt to tuna instead of mayo. Can I just ask do you get fresh crab or can you get it in tins?

I used tinned. It has about 60 calories in the whole tin. Or you could use crab sticks as a substitute 😊

SW (17/12): 152.2kg
CW: 147.0kg (5.2kg lost so far)
Mini target: 140kg
Next target: 128kg

Happy to have another loss, this week 1.7kg down. Need to focus on drinking more water this week.

Another autoimmune person here. RA, vasculitiis and mixed connective tissue disease. I'm currently on bed rest and been pushed back onto 60mg of steroids 🙄

Over the past year I've put on 24lb and want to take it off by the summer. But my main concern is lack of core strength due to so many days in bed. I was in hospital for 3 months from August to November, had a decent December and now back to bed rest. Hopefully it won't be too much longer as I wasn't as poorly before I started treatment this time, I didn't even have to be admitted so I'm hoping I'll improve ASAP.

So far I've lost 3lb by wising up on the crap I was eating. Trying very hard not to listen to the steroids asking me to make jam and chocolate spread sandwiches in the middle of the night😜

Really am going to eat cleaner, no upf, no chocolate, frozen easy meals of processed tastless rubbish and no more coke for the bubbles.

I have a holiday of a lifetime in July and I'd really like to be able to exercise before then so I can look good in a swimsuit and strappy tops and not want to hide my flabby arms.

I plan on getting back to swimming once I'm medically cleared and possibly some light weights

Of course, thanks for joining and well done on the first 3lbs! I understand the steroids struggles. Mine was peanut butter on toast at 3am 😉 I hope this thread will act as a supportive community cheering you on as you work towards your goal.
I've had a couple of lax days as me and DD both have a nasty cold. Yesterday I has a whole packet of lockets, honey in my tea, and healthy but large quantities of comfort food. Had another sleepless night and it's too cold to go out with the pushchair for more than an hour🤷. It's a lot of excuses but I'm a firm believer that weight loss shouldn't be miserable. I choose curl up and get well over diet and exercise for a couple of days 😊

Starting weight 90.5kg on 1st Jan
Current weight 88.9kg 16th Jan
Lost so far 1.6kg
goal weight 70kg

I've been adding some exercise in and trying to eat smaller portions, going for fruit or veg when i want snacks which seems to work well for me. I ate and drank too much at the weekend but still lost some which is heartening, 🤞it keeps going

Heidi2018 · 16/01/2025 10:03

I'm going to join and start on Sunday. I need to organise myself.

Pancakeorcrepe · 17/01/2025 08:29

Hi,
May I join this thread please?
SW April 2024 - 96kg
CW - 80kg
GW - 68kg
So exactly 2st to go.
I do 15k steps a day and 3x strength work-outs a week. I have changed lots of habits since April and now need to refine them more and stay consistent.

BlueGoats · 17/01/2025 08:55

Hiya - can I join in too, please?

Crept up to 85kg due to a combo of things, and while that's only marginally overweight for me (I'm tall) it doesn't feel right and I have a bunch of clothes that don't fit.

Aiming for 75kg initially and will reassess from there. I've usually been lighter still, but that was with a level of athleticism I won't get back, so not sure where I want to be long term.

I'm trying intermittent fasting, as I think I'll find it easier to stick to that calorie counting.

Parrotpirate · 18/01/2025 13:25

I'm putting on weight!
I'm eating 1200 cal or less. Also on 60mg steroids.

I always thought that weight only went on with meds because they made you hungry. And I have definitely fallen foul of that before. But this time I have stuck strictly to a 1200 diet, my DH is on it too (he's on 2000 cal) he has lost 9lb and I have put on 5lb. I'd initially lost 3lb.

I'm hoping it's fluids and will magically disappear one of these days but everyday I weigh myself I'm heavier than the last.

R00tat00tt00t · 19/01/2025 09:26

Hiya

How is everyone getting on? Not many updates so hope all is well and no-one's fallen off the bandwagon already. I know I hit a bit of a hump earlier this week as scales seemed to be going up despite eating better and exercise. It's easy to feel frustrated and think what's the point but keep going, you're in this for the long haul, you CAN do this.

I've been keeping up with the HIIT and high protein diet and slowly but surely am seeing results plus I feel so much better. I'm looking forward to taking my measurements at the end of the month as I think I'm feeling a bit less wobbly already.

Starting weight: 71.7kg (1/1/25)
Current weight: 67.6kg
Mini goal: 67kg by mid Feb
Next goal: 65kg by Easter
Long term goal: 57kg - could take all year but ideally in 6 months from now.

Looking forward to hearing about everyone else's progress.

Journeyintomelody · 20/01/2025 03:41

So I didn't do so good last week. Had a really miserable cold so was eating soup and a lot of bread mostly 😊 was thinking I had put on weight but I was 63.1kg on Saturday so just maintained. I'm ok with that. Still feeling a bit crap but I got the green light from the physio to start running again (once I've shaken off this retched cold). Still feeling motivated and I feel glad we've got this thread for accountability! Start again this week. Hoping to lose another kg!

Well done to everyone whose posted so far. Halfway through January is where people often give up. But we aren't doing that on this thread are we? 💪 Keep at it.

Today's lunch : chicken avocado and salad wrap. Haven't decided on dinner yet...possibly fish again 🥳

Honestly the best thing for weight loss is regular weigh ins and accountability so do keep posting your progress, good of bad. Mine was a 'bad week' but even after eating a ton of food it still didn't cause too much havoc on the scales!

Hi all,
I had a small reduction this week from 80kg to 79.4kg 👍🏼
I’ve completed my usual 3x strength work-outs a week plus 15k steps a day.

annonymousse · 22/01/2025 12:28

Has anyone ever used a personal trainer? I have a consultation with one tomorrow and when I asked how much he charges he said we would discuss it at the consultation. I'd like to have a rough idea what to expect price wise.

Tiggi7 · 23/01/2025 00:03

Hi everyone!

I weighed myself this morning, and I've lost 5lb since the 7th of January. I'm really pleased with that! I feel like I always lose the first few pounds very easily though, and then hit a wall where I usually give up. I'm determined to keep going this time!!

I've been intermittent fasting too @BlueGoats - I find it helps me personally.

Pancakeorcrepe · 24/01/2025 16:33

Well done @Tiggi7 keep it going. You’ve got this!

@annonymousse how was the consultation? I shopped for a PT a while ago and some don’t like to mention the price before the consultation. I have been going to a PT since April and it has really helped me. I pay £60 per session which is a lot of money but I see it as an investment in my health. I’m still going.

annonymousse · 24/01/2025 17:20

@Pancakeorcrepe I have signed up for 10 sessions. I have my assessment on Monday. He's working on a food plan in the meantime. I'm to start with low carbs, low fat, need to increase my water intake and I will doing strength training twice a week and 2 sessions of circuit training.

Weighed in this morning. My SW was 117kg and today I'm at 114.9kg. I'm particularly pleased as we were away on holiday last week.

Onwards and downwards (hopefully)

annonymousse · 24/01/2025 17:21

@Pancakeorcrepe Forgot to say he charges £35 a session. We're in the midlands so if you're down south it's always going to cost more.

Pancakeorcrepe · 24/01/2025 18:12

@annonymousse that sounds like a great plan, keep us posted. You’re already having great results and they will be compounded even more now you’ve got the exercise plan and food plan.
I am indeed in the South East, still the prices for PT vary a lot even in this area. At the beginning, I wanted to have the least number of sessions possible to save money but now I would cut down on other areas first in order to keep going.
