Do all the Cambridge diet drinks taste disgusting????

Started the cambridge diet this morning, trying to get a bit of weight off for my wedding.
I have only had one drink so far and if they all taste that bad I can see how the diet works you don't want to rush to the next meal cause you are still feeling sick from the first one.

I actually cannot believe I am doing this diet cause I just think it is madness on so many levels but hey ho the things we do, but I know I am going to really struggle if they are all horrid. If I am not eating I at least want to enjoy the little that is going into my stomach.

Next week will be better grumpy - I'm sure by then a loss will show and that will motivate you. I've had salad today - more than I should have - felt very bloated and cross with myself that I'd messed up the diet - drank six pints of water today so far to make up for it - hope I havent done much damage!!

binkleandflip · 06/05/2008 18:50

think its a great idea, here's mine so far:

Starting weight 26/4/08 : 13.8 stone
Weighed 3/5/08 : 13.1 stone
Lost: 7lb

Next weigh in 8/5/08

towncalledmalice · 07/05/2008 20:03

Well done binkleandflip, here's mine:

Starting weight 30/04/08 14.6
Weighed 07/05/2008 14.0
Week 1 Lost 6lb

I'm afraid I cracked last night, was feeling really pissed off and had a little bit of dinner (homemade green curry!) and a packet of maltesers and some crisps. Was v. hungry and felt so much better afterwards.

Talking to the consellor woman today she reckons I never went into kestosis as also had full-fat milk in coffee a couple of times. I have the sticks so can check this week. Am pleased with weight loss and feel I can do this now.

oggsfrog · 07/05/2008 20:36

Can I join you all?
I've got my first meeting tomorrow with a cdc and don't know what to expect. Will she expect me to do a weeks preparation before I can actually start the diet? I already eat low carb, and drink about 2-3litres of water a day. Just want to get cracking.

binkleandflip · 08/05/2008 08:13

Welcome Oggs

I didnt have to do loads of preparation, I just turned up for the appt and when you tell her you already drink loads of water, eat low carb etc I expect your already well prepared!!

Just a word of advice cos I like yer

a-hem...

DO NOT HAVE THE SOUPS IF YOU CAN HELP IT - THEY ARE GRIM!!!!

oggsfrog · 08/05/2008 08:36

I've been reading the thread and from what I can see the Broccoli and Cheese is to be avoided at all costs .
I think I'll go for mainly shakes - the butterscotch, toffee and walnut and choc mint sound good.
Do I have to get a form signed by my doctor? If so does that mean I can't start until I have their signature?

Nursejo · 08/05/2008 08:55

Hi,My DH and I are doing CD too. Both of us are doing Sole Source. In the first 10 days he lost 18 lb, I lost 11 lb.We are into our 3rd week now.We found the BH weekend very hard, with trips out etc.so we faltered a little, but are determined to lose 1-2 stone on SS, and then another stone on Maintenance.Keep going,it gets easier as soon as the hunger goes. The weight loss will motivate you.We have settled on a few flavours that we like, but most of all we look forward to a choccy bar in the evening, cut up into lots of pieces to savour! How sad are we?? Good Luck!Don't forget the CD website, you can track your weight loss, read tips and experiences, all helps.

Nursejo · 08/05/2008 09:05

No Oggsfrog they changed it in feb 08,you don't need a docs signature now,if you start SS, your CDC will probably ask your permission to inform them, thats all. Some CDC do a "starter week",but most don't. I quite like (?) the Chick & Mush Soup,Vegetable and Mushroom. My DH loves the spicy tomato.I'd say give them a go,just one of each that you fancy,at least you'll have more choice if you do like them.

binkleandflip · 08/05/2008 09:08

its true you dont need drs approval to do. I've been having a few health ishoos lately and have a generic letter from my doctor regarding diet/exercise etc so that covered me (as I told him I wanted to try CD)

Good luck Oggs!!

Nursejo · 08/05/2008 09:11

binkleandflip · 08/05/2008 09:15

me too Nursejo, will report back tonight!!

grumpybum · 08/05/2008 21:31

Hi everyone. Glad we have got some new people joining too.
I have completely given up on soups and shakes and feel alot more positive about it cause now I actually look forward to my meals. I have the carton of choc velvet in a large cup of coffee for breakfast and a bar for lunch and another for dinner. I really like the bars. I have really stuck to it this week and according to my scales at home I have lost 3lb since Tuesday evening. I am so excited that I am going to break into the next stone this week.

grumpybum · 08/05/2008 21:36

Start date 22/04/08 = 13st 11
Week one 29/04/08 = 13st 2
Week two 06/05/08 = 13st 2
Today 08/05/08 = 12st 13 (unofficial)

Looking forward to hearing how you get on in your weigh ins today

binkleandflip · 08/05/2008 21:41

that;s great grumpy, spose its all about finding what works for you!!

I've been for weigh in tonight
Results so far:

Starting weight 26/4/08 : 13.8 stone
Weighed 3/5/08 : 13.1 stone
Weighed 8/5/08 : 12.12.5 (yes the .5 means a lot lol)

Lost so far : 9.5lbs

I'm quite please thats 9.5lbs in 10 days so not too bad, hoping for at least 3lb next week - would be good to break the stone though!!

grumpybum · 08/05/2008 21:47

Great binkle. You must be pleased you weigh 12 stone something rather than 13 stone something! So is Thursday your proper weigh day?

binkleandflip · 08/05/2008 22:20

it will be from now on I think. Wonder how the others are getting on........

Nursejo · 09/05/2008 09:10

Great work Grumpybum and Binkleandflip!I had my weigh in yesterday, only lost 1lb this week,as cheated at weekend, and due on! Just relieved not to have piled it back on. Took me under 14,so that pleased me. Next week will be better. . . . !

oggsfrog · 09/05/2008 09:11

Day 2 for me.
Had to get up 4 times in night to go to loo as I realised at 9:30pm that I had been so exited at starting diet that I'd not drunk enough. Drank 1 litre in 5 mins

Slight headache this morning but drank a pint of water and feel better now. Just about to have half a sachet of toffee and walnut.

Start date 8.5.08 - 14st 1lb

Nursejo · 09/05/2008 09:12

Oh yeah, DH did 4lb,which makes him 2lb less than 2 stone in 2 weeks!!

binkleandflip · 09/05/2008 09:13

Morning Oggy!!

That's a real bugger when you go to bed and realise you've still got three pints to go isnt it?

I had two bars last night as the counsellor told me to eat them along with the shakes because my stomach has been rumbling so much - it was SO much worse for eating the bars you know that kind of IBS/colicky pain you get down low?

Wont be doing that again or at least will have one in the morning so it has time to process

Nursejo · 09/05/2008 09:19

Oggsfrog, I have that problem with forgetting to drink enough, now have a tick chart on fridge to keep tally.I try to have a glass just before my sachet, and one with,or just after. At least then I have had 6 glasses, plus anymore that I can in between.I try to drink my last at 7pm, so I don't get an interrupted night.Keep going, the "easier" stage is just a day or two away.

binkleandflip · 09/05/2008 09:20

That's amazing for your dh nursejo!! How come blokes always find it easier??

Nursejo · 09/05/2008 09:30

I know, not fair sometimes! But he is trying hard,so he does deserve it.I've been to WW, and 2 men joined, gave up their pint (or two) cheated like crazy with the diet, and lost 11 lb in their first week!! Now thats not fair eh?

Nursejo · 09/05/2008 09:36

Binkleandflip, isn't funny about how different the CDC are? I have 3 different ones,I have previously been advised I could have the "Green and white" part of the sole source plus,at weekends, and SS during the week,my present CDC has explained why this is foolish to do this, which makes sense. Also with the choc bars, they can take some people out of Ketosis, and can "upset" your digestion,so advise only 1 a day, from your 2nd week onwards.
