Do all the Cambridge diet drinks taste disgusting????

Started the cambridge diet this morning, trying to get a bit of weight off for my wedding.
I have only had one drink so far and if they all taste that bad I can see how the diet works you don't want to rush to the next meal cause you are still feeling sick from the first one.

I actually cannot believe I am doing this diet cause I just think it is madness on so many levels but hey ho the things we do, but I know I am going to really struggle if they are all horrid. If I am not eating I at least want to enjoy the little that is going into my stomach.

Lol you are just melting away.
I am going to give it a proper go maybe start again on Monday, my lovely better half is home tomorrow after 5 weeks away and he is only home this time for the weekend so might let him take me out for my last supper then go for it when he is away again.
Pleasehold my hand

I have 39lbs to lose in total. 9 down, 30 to go.
For the first time I felt a bit wobbly and decided I really needed to eat something. So I cooked a really healthy but filling roast dinner. Now I have eaten it I feel really full up and a bit sick!!! Can't win.
AM going to go back to it tomorrow morning and stick to it for the rest of the week - just taking one day at a time as I can't think about not eating for the next 10weeks!!!
I want to lose 5lb this week so I get my first stone out of the way but I am not very hopeful!

mumofdjandbabies · 30/04/2008 22:40

cool
I have the internet back which is fab

binkleandflip · 30/04/2008 22:55

Definately have a great weekend with your dp and start afresh on Monday Ineed!! Hopefully my weigh in on Sunday will inspire us both to keep at it!!

Grumpybum, thats a great weighloss!! 39lb is just under three stone right so we have got about the same to lose.

Had a chocolate (hot) for my supper - really not too bad at all, its just that the soups are backing up...need to start having them or I'll end up having them for every meal at weekend which would NOT be good

chocolatespiders · 01/05/2008 06:20

if your counseller is near to you. you could nip in and swap the soups...

GentleOtter · 01/05/2008 09:55

Oh...all excited! I phoned my nearest councillor (Dunfermline and MILES away) so will be getting everything on Monday!
My friend up in the Highlands is going to try it as well and we have a fair amount of weight to shift between us.
Today, I have to stop carbs and bread is my main love.
Did you find it easy or difficult at first or did the thought of losing weight spur you on ?
Thanks binkle!

towncalledmalice · 01/05/2008 11:21

Just started this morning and the shake was pretty awful but don't feel hungry at all more borderline nauseous Have 3 atone to lose and really need to do something about it at this stage. What is the ketosis (sp?) stage like - don't like the thought of being cold or bad breath.

binkleandflip · 01/05/2008 14:07

Am going to swap the soups tonight - I really cant stomach them though I find the sweet ones really alright.

I think what is spurring me on if that fact that it is day four and I have sat amongst my friends scoffing pizza etc and I have held out which I never thought I would so I know I CAN do this and watching the weight drop off my SIL has also really inspired me as we have tried diets together before and never lost a significant amount.

Think its great that there are a few of us on MN starting altogether

Weigh-in on Sunday - if I havent lost at least half a stone I'll be livid then it will be very hard not to binge to spite myself - that will be the real test.

But today I feel good, hungry but good. Done my little wee stick - I am in ketosis. Dont like the sound of it but if my Dr says ok then ok it is (he signed to say I could do diet)

IneedacleanerIamalazyslattern · 01/05/2008 17:13

Hi,

Can I join in? I started last Monday, so had Wednesday weigh in after ten days rather than seven and had lost eight pounds. I feel really well.

I would ideally like to lose another three stones, but my aim for now is a BMI below 30.

grumpybum · 01/05/2008 22:03

Hi all. Really glad everyone seemd to be at a similar stage and a similar amount of weight to lose - it helps to keep me going.

Had choc mint for dinner just now and it was gross. I bought a hand blender (£3 from Asda) cause I was struggling to get rid of the lumps.
Am living off vegetable soup and choc tetras with coffee, black coffee and water.
I weighed myself on my scales at home and regretted it cause I was heavier than when the counsellor weighed me. Am going to check my ketosis in a minute - hopefully that will keep me going.
Keep going everyone. I just squidge my fat belly when I question why I am doing this!

towncalledmalice · 01/05/2008 23:58

Day 1 - haven't cracked - chicken & mushroom soup ok - choc mint shake edible. Don't feel hungry per se. The lumps are pretty gross though. Just thinking of how good I'll feel when this is weight is gone.

IneedacleanerIamalazyslattern · 02/05/2008 07:43

Well I will most definately be going for this on Monday when DP gone agaian, since he has just informed me I look like I have put on weight since he has been away

binkleandflip · 02/05/2008 10:11

well thats constructive of your dp

I feel a bit off today. Havent been able to swap my soups yet and yesterday went a bit awry. My dd's birthday - my mum made a little tea party for the family and basically bullied me (in a nice way) endlessly to eat something - bless her - its not like I'm wasting away I havent told her I'm dieting and to keep the peace I had a slice of turkey and a scotch egg no cake or anything though so hopefully that wont have sabotaged it too badly.

I quite like the choc mint hot - it isnt too bad like that.

SpookyMadMummy · 02/05/2008 10:55

Morning ladies.

I am a Cambridge Counsellor as well as being back on it myself to shift a few pounds for my holiday!

I lost 3 1/2 stones in 13 weeks.

Few tips, weight. If you must weigh, do it in a morning!
Ketosis. Ketostix are available from your counsellor and again, test in a morning, but if you have the symptoms of ketosis (bad breath, feeling cold, not hungry or not as hungry) then don't bother with the tests. Ketosis usually hits in day 3.

Shakes can be had hot or cold and I always say to my ladies add water to taste. If you want more water in them its fine.

Tetra briks can also be frozen to make ice cream. It makes a hard ice cream though, so when you take it out of the pack then defrost it in the microwave for a minute to soften it up a bit.

You can add herbs and stuff to the soups, as long as its not salt or garlic so have a look what you have at home to make them a bit more exciting.

A stick blender is best for making up the packs ans you don't get the dreaded lumps!

Hope this helps, anything I can help with feel free to CAT me or ask on here

grumpybum · 02/05/2008 14:46

Juat had a choc/peanut bar. Starts off ok then ends up tasting the same as the everything else!!!!
I really fancy a glass of wine. It is bright sunshine, bank holiday weekend and I have just finished work!! Tempted but not sure I could stop at one glass adn sure it would throw ketosis out of the window! Oh well, another pint of water it is then....
A friend of mine said I looked like i had lost weight today - have not seen him in a while so I am really pleased. Partner said my belly looks flatter cause the other day it looked huge (great cheers, compliment was overshadowed by the insult)

binkleandflip · 03/05/2008 12:31

thanks Spooky - good to know you are around for extra advice and guidance!!

I have been weighed today - a couple of days early as I went to swap the soups - I have lost 7lb in five days!! I'm so chuffed with myself! As the counsellor said, as with any diet, most of that is water - but now the real good stuff starts happen and the next weigh in will be all fat!!

I too could really go for a nice wine but I'm not going to give in

grumpybum · 04/05/2008 15:26

Really pleased for you binkle - keep it up.

I had 2 glasses of wine - I am so rubbish! Plus I have eaten actual food this weekend so I am not hoping for any decent results when I get weighed on Tuesday.

binkleandflip · 04/05/2008 18:02

Aw well, grumpy, it is bank holiday weekend after all so if you're going to be naughty now is as good a time as ever

I've managed to avoid wine etc but I have fallen into the trap of Marks and Spencer Percy pigs - I've had three - not the end of the world and I reckon I might just get away with it

binkleandflip · 05/05/2008 18:48

Well, I've survived my first weekend on the diet and I must say I feel pretty good, clothes getting gradually looser and I've got high hopes for my weigh-in on Thursday.

Hope everyone is getting on ok too!!

towncalledmalice · 05/05/2008 21:49

also got through first weekend! was in mcdonalds today with DS and didn't nick any of his chips just had a black coffee Clothes a bit looser too so hopefully I can keep this up. Was quite tempted to eat something today but didn't.

binkleandflip · 06/05/2008 09:46

do you get weighed on thursday then? Well done for getting through the weekend!!

my jeans are literally slipping off this morning - they are a size 16 at the mo so I cant wait until I can slip into a 14 again comforatably, that will be a big moment for me!!

towncalledmalice · 06/05/2008 18:40

Weigh-in tomorrow so will report back on pounds lost. 1 week down, 11 to go!

grumpybum · 06/05/2008 18:45

Well that serves me right, Just been to weigh in and I am exactly the same!! I have been weighing myself at home so had an idea I would be around the same. I have been pretty rubbish this week so I am too suprised. I have cheated the cambridge diet but still thought a couple of pounds would have been realistic.

Anyway this has given me some thinspiration for next week. I AM GONNA STICK TO IT THIS WEEK if it kills me. (gonna look back at this thread regularly to remind myself of my determination in moments of weakness)
Have stocked up on the limited things that I actually like (can bear) to eat, so I am all set. Vegetable soup, Choc velvet bricks and chewy bars!!!

I hope you are all doing better than me!!

grumpybum · 06/05/2008 18:46

I think it would be good to list everyones weigh loss so we can all see at a glance how we are getting on.

What does everyone think??
