Wanting to lose close to 10kg in time for Christmas

MangoLove · 12/09/2024 13:24

Hi, Looking for anyone that would like to join for support

Height: 5'3
CW: 87.7kg
Christmas GW: 80kg

So, I know 80kg is still high in BMI - but this will be a huge achievement for me and my body shape. I'm pretty fed up of not feeling comfortable in my clothes when seeing so many family and friends over the festive period. A bit shallow - but I want to look better!

Plan

  1. Intermittent Fasting - keeping my eating window between 1-7pm
  2. 15k steps a day - a morning walk and then walking in front of the TV after the kids have gone to bed.
  3. Water Water and more Water
  4. Choosing low calorie treats and letting myself have 1 a day!

Really trying to keep this is simple as possible so that if i fall off for a day, it will be easy to get back on track. I'm also not falling victim to the stacked high piles of chocolate tubs in the supermarkets. I will not buy a tub till December!

Would anyone like to join? We have 11 full weeks till the start of December, and at 0.5kg a week - an opportunity to be at least 5.5kgs lighter.

I'll come back every Monday to share my new weight but will obviously be here in between to muse and hopefully share some nsv's

Someone asked me if I’ve lost weight.
It made my day.
I could’ve snogged them.
😘

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/10/2024 09:09

@Swearwolf what collagen do you take?

Swearwolf · 02/10/2024 09:18

@thenewaveragebear1983 honestly, I was overwhelmed with recommendations and info, so I just went into Boots and bought their own brand marine collagen tablets. I thought that would give me a good starting point and I could adjust from there, I got a small bottle so they won't last all that long. I don't think I can cope with the idea of powder, I'm funny about stuff like that.

Amazing!!!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/10/2024 09:33

@Swearwolf I currently have a powder but it needs to be mixed with juice or yoghurt, and I find those run out during the week so I'm not taking it consistently. It is overwhelming, there are so many out there and a huge variation in price as well

Bluebellsinthewind · 02/10/2024 10:49

Morning,

Lovely to see new people and a whole lot of positivity, great tips.

Just remembered that I hadn't checked my weight in last week. I put on a pound, tbh I thought it would be worse. The weekend wasn't great food/gin wise and motivation a bit low. Fresh start yesterday as Monday went the wrong way. Fingers crossed for a miracle pound off this week.

Positives
Been managing to get out for longer walks more often.
Started taking pack lunch with me, rather than grabbing something high calories at high cost.
My sleep is better
I feel more relaxed
Drinking more water

Aim for this week is two YouTube videos and two walks And to keep going with more water.

MangoLove · 30/09/2024 10:21

Hey ladies,

Looks like there has been a lot of lbs lost in the team this week. Well done all! Its motivating to see that consistency does actually pay off.

@ClearFruit Welcome on board.

I'm the definition of 'Falls off on the weekend'! I'm so annoyed with myself. I need to get back to the drawing board. I got 91,143k steps last week (but the weekend was rubbish). I'm not even frustrated, I'm just upset with the fact that I know what works - but will power drops off on Sat/Sun.

@DrunkTinkerbell40s - With my 20:4 fast (only did 2 last week) - I have lots of water, a morning coffee using skinny milk a tea with skinny milk and then hot lemon water. Its not a fast in the sense of 0 calories, but better than what i was doing before

So, my stats for Sept
01/09 - 89.1
09/09 - 88.2
16/09 - 85.9
23/09 - 85.9
CW on 30/09 - 85.9 Same the last 3 weeks! (I did weigh in at 85.5 mid week)

Sept loss: 3.2kg (7lbs)

11 full weeks before Xmas - 10.9kg to GW - I need a kilo a week! Whelp!!

Any advise/tips welcome. I don't feel my usual chirpy, motivational, positive self

Same here - I do really well during the week! Friday we drink wine for dinner to celebrate start of the weekend - next morning I am excited to have lost 1kg overnight. Sat & Sun we eat that kilo back plus whatever was lost across the weekdays. Think the answer is probably to stop drinking. I went from 71.5 to 68 in a couple of weeks and then for 3 weeks have just been cycling 68-67-70-68.

Need to get a handle on this before the excuse of Christmas comes into play!

ankhet · 03/10/2024 14:08

Hi, I hope it's not too late to join! I'm annoyed at myself as I gained almost 4kg since my birthday (late August). My ideal weight is somewhere around 63kg and I'm 10kg heavier than that. I'm also likely depressed and not wanting to say it out loud. I'm a single parent in my late 40s. I have been (very!) single since 2021, and the last one was a relatively short relationship. I haven't really been in a long-term relationship since 2013, just on and off had various 'not single' periods, dated, didn't go anywhere. I've kind of stopped looking for someone, which is unhealthy.

I'm 167cm, 73kg, BMI 26.2 which places me in the overweight category. I'm physically active as I play tennis 2-3x week but I work from home and spend way too much indoors.

My plan is to first lose the 4 kilos I gained over the past month (!), then lose 5kg more, but more gradually. Cut sugar and carbs etc. Drink more water and sleep more regularly. I don't really drink alcohol and if I do it's usually prosecco or red wine.

Oh, and go back to intermittent fasting 16/8... I used to eat two meals a day around 12-1pm and 5-6pm. I went on a longer holiday where we were half board and somehow I managed to stop.

Thanks for reading my rather long message! I'm grateful that this forum exists even though I'm more of a passive member.

3luckystars · 04/10/2024 19:51

Well done on all the losses.

Just to update you about BodySlims, I lost 4lb week one and my sister lost 6.5lbs!!

Neither of us can believe it. We are both walking one hour a day and it seems to be working so far so I will report back!

Bluebellsinthewind · 05/10/2024 11:48

Welcome @ankhet
@3luckystars well done that's fantastic.

Just popping in to say that I lost 2ibs this week.

How are you getting on @MangoLove

Maarva · 05/10/2024 11:52

Hello everyone just checking in and am amazed as I managed a 2lb loss this week despite having my period and feeling very despondent about it all after going up a lb last week. Now down to 12st 9lb height 5ft 3 so bmi 31.4.

I’ve been fasting daily for as long as possible, breaking it with a protein shake early afternoon. Then eating a low carb dinner. No alcohol, no snacks, no processed food.

Hope everyone is ok. It’s hard work!

CornflowerBlueSky · 05/10/2024 12:02

Hi, I'd like to join. I actually said the same to myself this morning, 8kg before Christmas. I lost 1.5 stones this time last year, and I'm so angry with myself for letting a lot of it creep back on. 12st this morning, should be 10 stone or under. I plan to do 10,000 steps a day and try to include hiit and strength training. Need to cut out alcohol as that makes me snack all evening.

MadamTeapot · 05/10/2024 13:44

5lbs down this week! OMAD, increased my walking and doing yoga. So that’s me 195lbs, I’d like to maybe be 185lbs by Christmas.

Swearwolf · 05/10/2024 16:21

Well done everyone who has lost something! I haven't, in fact I am 0.3kg up, but my body always takes a few weeks to catch up on either weight gain or loss. I've been pretty sensible this week and I've done plenty of exercise, so I'm hopeful I'll start to see some loss in a couple of weeks time. I just need to stick with it and not get discouraged!

Waiting9 · 06/10/2024 04:10

Hi I’d like to join you on this journey. Reading through the thread has been really inspiring and has motivated me to get started! Congrats on your progress.

So I’m short and overweight for my height. I need to lose 5.5kg to reach a healthy weight, but wouldn’t mind losing 10kg by Christmas. That’s pretty close to my end weight loss goals which I hope to reach in January.

In the last week I have lost around 0.7kg and now weigh 63kg. I have stopped drinking alcohol and coffee and trying to drink more water. Have been to the gym but could do with going more frequently.

MangoLove · 08/10/2024 09:23

Hi all,

So sorry I have been awol. It's been a rough few weeks and it has taken its toll on my weight and motivation. I'm back on it again and feel positive for the run up to Christmas. Isn't it funny how long it takes to lose 5lbs, but how quickly one can gain it back!

Yesterday check in
✅Steps - 16106 (Got 9500 of that in one go)
✅Food was good
✅Water - did about 1.5l
❌Snacking wasn't so great yesterday, but i feel like i've got it out of my system and ready to have a 'good' snack day

I'm a bit embarrassed to share again what I weigh - but transparency and accountability are key. If i can get back down to 85 by the end of the month, I'll be a happy bunny.

01/09 - 89.1
30/09 - 85.9
01/10 - 86.4
08/10 - 88.1

@Bluebellsinthewind - thanks for checking in. Despite the weight fluctuations, my clothes are fitting really well and I'm trying on weekly the Christmas outfit.

Welcome @ankhet @Waiting9 @CornflowerBlueSky 💛

This is me too so hoping can join. I've been going a week and lost 1.4kg, so only 8.6kg to go 😂

Lunarvalleysinmymind · 08/10/2024 13:42

Weighed in today 9st 9 (ish). Been having a rough couple weeks with the DH, a lot of fighting and him staying away a few nights as we couldn't stand the sight of each other. Subsequent wine drinking in the evenings after bed time with the girls. Nothing crazy, half of a bottle here and there but feeling unhealthy and sluggish this week now as a result. We need to work things out a bit or maybe just accept it's been a tough time generally (financially things have dipped for us and we have had to pay out for big repairs and supporting his father who is alone and very unwell). Just bjaaah.

I desperately want to do something positive by the end of this year - that's why this 10kg in time for xmas sounds ideal. I only have the last few pounds of my weight loss journey to lose (I've lost around 5 stone since having my youngest DD) but my stomach still spills over my size 12 jeans... Just want to be comfortable and feel sparkly for xmas parties. I want to feel gooooooood. I want to feel physically confident and strong.

sorry - a bit of a rant but there's a lot of 'reason' behind why we eat too much/want to lose weight. If anyone else wants to share that I'd love to read.

I feel like this is something I can do for myself.

Lunarvalleysinmymind · 08/10/2024 13:42

Just reading back - some incredible losses on here and persistence. Well done everyone!

ToddlerMumma · 08/10/2024 14:24

I forgot to update yesterday!

Height - 5ft 2"
SW - 13st 12lbs
CW - 13st 5lbs
Loss this week - 1lb
Total loss - 7lb, 1/2 a stone, 3kg

The slowness is a bit annoying but I suppose a slow and steady loss is better than yo-yo ing which I normally do! If I lose 1lb a week, I'll be my target weight (9st8lb) by this time next year!! It's 11 weeks until Christmas so I COULD realistically lose another 11lbs so 18lbs in total if I just keep going. That will be the lightest I've been in a very long time. Wish me luck!

okayhescereal · 08/10/2024 14:53

Just 0.2 kilos this week. Definitely not going to be anywhere near 10kilos by Christmas at this rate!

Have been doing IF (sticking to a 4-6 hour window), cut out all crap (I used to eat tonnes), upped vegetables and oily fish, avoided carbs, introduced exercise (that was non existent previously), increased water intake, switched to small side plates to reduce portion size. Just seems to be a very slow journey for me. Has been suggested I try a week of counting calories but my DH does most of the cooking so it's tricky. Plus I detest doing it😂but if it meant I did better than 0.5-1 kilo a month then it's gotta be worth the effort.

2nd April - 92kg
19th Sept - 90kg
30th Sept - 88.5kg
8th Oct - 88.3kg

okayhescereal · 08/10/2024 15:00

My current expected date to lose 20kg total according to Monitor My Weight is August 2028 😫

@MangoLove I know right?! Not exactly a motivational target!

Do you use an app for tracking? I started calorie counting yesterday using My Fitness Pal. I actually had dinner last night which I don't usually do and still only hit 2000kcal, so now wondering if perhaps I've been inadvertently eating too few calories which is what's causing the s-l-o-w shift. Going to keep track for a week and see what's going on.

Needanewname42 · 09/10/2024 11:48

@MangoLove remember women often retain fluid just before a period too which could be affecting your weight this week.
