Wanting to lose close to 10kg in time for Christmas

MangoLove · 12/09/2024 13:24

Hi, Looking for anyone that would like to join for support

Height: 5'3
CW: 87.7kg
Christmas GW: 80kg

So, I know 80kg is still high in BMI - but this will be a huge achievement for me and my body shape. I'm pretty fed up of not feeling comfortable in my clothes when seeing so many family and friends over the festive period. A bit shallow - but I want to look better!

Plan

  1. Intermittent Fasting - keeping my eating window between 1-7pm
  2. 15k steps a day - a morning walk and then walking in front of the TV after the kids have gone to bed.
  3. Water Water and more Water
  4. Choosing low calorie treats and letting myself have 1 a day!

Really trying to keep this is simple as possible so that if i fall off for a day, it will be easy to get back on track. I'm also not falling victim to the stacked high piles of chocolate tubs in the supermarkets. I will not buy a tub till December!

Would anyone like to join? We have 11 full weeks till the start of December, and at 0.5kg a week - an opportunity to be at least 5.5kgs lighter.

I'll come back every Monday to share my new weight but will obviously be here in between to muse and hopefully share some nsv's

I haven't updated for a couple of weeks but still on it!

SW 13st 12lbs
CW 13st 3lbs
Total loss 9lbs or 4kg

I can't wait to get into the 12s. It's hard to keep going week after week but I feel and look better already so must keep going!

I had a sad event in my life and started overeating more than ever. So no progress at all for me but I’m off swimming in a min. Trying to get a bit better now

Calliopespa · 03/11/2024 19:38

Well just popped over to this thread to see how you are all going because at least you are all upbeat and doing something positive! So many threads bickering about MILs who looked at them the wrong way etc. This thread is a small pocket of positivity on here…

Oh sorry Chaos. Didn’t see your sad news when I posted. But good luck with the swimming and well done for pressing on. It’s not easy when you’re tempted to curl up.

No problem and I’m enjoying the positivity here too. Life is tough but better together I think

Was 144 lbs when I turned 30, turning 40 in a couple of years and intend to get back to that weight.

I started an OU degree and teaching and just became incredibly sedentary, I've career changed now so working on increasing physical activity throughout the day and don't have to be sat studying / planning in the evenings now and DD is older so can be left alone. I'm annoyed I get shin splints at walking a mile when I used to run 10kms but it will just take time. I'm less concerned with the number on the scale and more on my general health - I noticed my feet swelling in the summer and other things that are probably weight related that I'm not happy about.

My size 18s are going on comfortably now, I was creeping into a 20 so that's a great improvement.

Sending love and strength your way Chaos.

Kids having an inset day threw me off today so didn't do my usual Monday weigh in. Will see how it looks on the moro.

Swearwolf · 05/11/2024 06:14

Hope you're ok @Chaoseverywhere.

I've fallen off a bit over half term, we've eaten out more than normal and I was away for work in the second half of the week - long days, eating when I had a chance or whenever there was something on offer, drinks and dinner out every night. And very little time to exercise! I've only run once in the last week. Pleased to be back to normal today, the kids are back to school and I'm going to fit in a small run after I drop off.

Haven't weighed as I have a surprise period (work travel always does this to me) but actually I don't feel too bad. The jeans I had on yesterday felt comfortable and I didn't feel as though I looked enormous. I'll weigh myself either today or tomorrow and cross my fingers!

Swearwolf · 05/11/2024 07:01

I had to know - I'm only up 0.1kg! I'm pleased with this, though my body does tend to show weight gain and loss at a slight delay so I guess it might come later. If I can get properly back on track this week, hopefully I'll start going in the right direction again. No booze, sensible lunches, no snacks.

Wehaditsogood · 05/11/2024 14:09

SW 98.8kg 😳
CW 91.8kg

First stone is off. Let us hope I can shred the second stone soon as well.

I am awed by everyone else's exercise. I do walk a lot (and now faster), but I will have to start to exercise properly soon.

Bravo! That’s a big milestone.

I only lost 0.2kg last week so was a bit disappointed, but at least it was a loss. TBH I did drink a lot of wine as I had a stressful week.

I’m feeling good, but also knackered. I’ve been doing a lot of exercise as I’m training for a running event, plus I made a commitment to my DC that I’d take them down the gym whenever they wanted as my other DC who went with them has gone to uni. DC2 got bullied about weight a few years ago and generally lacks a bit of confidence, and going the gym has made a massive difference.

I’m bloody knackered though😅I’m yet to see the compound effect of all this exercise, where the hell is it? I said to DH I’m yet to feel “bloody fit” versus “bloody knackered”.

Hoping my weight comes off a bit more next week. I’ve lost 12 pounds, and got 10 to go till I’m super slim.

Went shopping last week and bought a gorgeous velvet blazer. They usually tug at the shoulders and tits, but this, a L in Mango, just slid on and looked fab. It’s been a long time since I tried something on and it fit.

Thinking of switching my weigh day to Thursday. Tends to be the day I have a cheeky check in, am pleasantly surprised, then by Monday it's gone back up 😂 I was 86.7 on Tuesday (forgot to weigh on Monday) which is a 1kg gain from last week (85.7), checked today and I'm 85kg, which would be a .7 loss! Yoyoing all over the place.

Starting weight 90kg (14.2st)
Current weight 85kg (13.5st)
Total loss: 5kg (11.5lbs)
7 weeks down, 6 weeks till Christmas..

Would love to be in the 70's by Christmas but accepting the slow and steady pace.

okayhescereal · 07/11/2024 09:36

@RedHotChilliPreppers yay for fitting clothes!! Exciting times :)

MadamTeapot · 11/11/2024 06:57

Well I was hoping to be in the 12 stone bracket by January and I’m in it now! Down from 14st 8lbs in September to 12st 12 now. I’ve still got a long way to go but am very positive. OMAD generally, and a couple of hours gentle exercise a day too.

My goal for Christmas is now to be 12st 7.

FrostFlowers2025 · 11/11/2024 07:04

I think your thinking around this would not be sustainable for a long time and you'll end up beating yourself up if you fail.

I would like to suggest focussing on behaviour and good eating habits, rather than the number on the scale. I would also refrain from sentences like "I let myself have a snack".

Instead I would frame it like: "I want to walk at least 15000 steps a days." and "I want to eat food that nourished and gives more energy than processed food does".

Anyway, I want to wish you good luck. Doing things for your health always has benefits, as long as you are also kind to yourself and don't become obessive about it.

okayhescereal · 11/11/2024 07:09

@MangoLove you doing okay? How was your holiday?

ToddlerMumma · 11/11/2024 21:37

Nice stayed the same this week :( but I've had a terrible cold and been comfort eating so not surprising. Still been doing the gym though with 2 classes at the weekend, spin this morning and fatburn tomoz. 6 weeks to go!!

RedHotChilliPreppers · 12/11/2024 08:15

I lost 0.9 Kg last week, so I’ve officially lost a stone/ 6.5kg. I’ve got 3.5 kg to go to my goal weight.

Had an indulgent Monday so need to be 😇 for the rest of the week.

Yes, I bought a pair of trousers from Mango in an L and I have to swap them for a M. 😂

I’m usually an XL in Mango because it’s for teeny tiny people. Result. Now I just need to fit into my size 3 gorgeous Ted Baker coat and I’ll be chuffed.

Wehaditsogood · 12/11/2024 13:59

Congratulations everyone! Thank you for keeping me on the straight and narrow.

Last week I lost another 0.5kg.
