Wanting to lose close to 10kg in time for Christmas

MangoLove · 12/09/2024 13:24

Hi, Looking for anyone that would like to join for support

Height: 5'3
CW: 87.7kg
Christmas GW: 80kg

So, I know 80kg is still high in BMI - but this will be a huge achievement for me and my body shape. I'm pretty fed up of not feeling comfortable in my clothes when seeing so many family and friends over the festive period. A bit shallow - but I want to look better!

Plan

  1. Intermittent Fasting - keeping my eating window between 1-7pm
  2. 15k steps a day - a morning walk and then walking in front of the TV after the kids have gone to bed.
  3. Water Water and more Water
  4. Choosing low calorie treats and letting myself have 1 a day!

Really trying to keep this is simple as possible so that if i fall off for a day, it will be easy to get back on track. I'm also not falling victim to the stacked high piles of chocolate tubs in the supermarkets. I will not buy a tub till December!

Would anyone like to join? We have 11 full weeks till the start of December, and at 0.5kg a week - an opportunity to be at least 5.5kgs lighter.

I'll come back every Monday to share my new weight but will obviously be here in between to muse and hopefully share some nsv's

0.kg off finally, that's taken 2 weeks 🙄

okayhescereal · 21/10/2024 09:13

Monday weigh day here. Nothing off this week.

I wasn't as great with avoiding carbs or water intake this week, but still stuck to less than 1500 kcals a day and had one day where I totally fasted (40 hours). I had a sneaky weigh in on Thursday and was down 0.8kg so thought I was going okay, but today it's back to 86.7 which is exactly the same as last week.

It's really interesting to me how it can fluctuate.

Day 4 (aka fasting day again) today. Will have another on Friday so perhaps that'll make the difference for next weigh day.

Wehaditsogood · 21/10/2024 09:23

I don't know about you, but my weight is higher right before my period. So maybe it is just that.

Not in my case, though a handy reminder for other times of the month!!

Swearwolf · 21/10/2024 18:36

Mine is lower right before my period! I'm mid-cycle at the moment so maybe need to give it a couple of weeks and see where I am then. Keep going with low alcohol, sensible eating and regular exercise. It might work eventually!

PrincessofWells · 21/10/2024 18:42

I'm a bit stuck too. I had a team sport injury today and have been ordered to take a month off any sport which is a bit dire including the gym. I'm not sure how well the healthy eating is going to go 🤔

Penguin89 · 21/10/2024 19:14

Hello everyone!

SW 67.15kg
CW 63.6kg
GW 56kg (but think I'll settle for getting to 59kg quickly and let the rest come off more slowly, hopefully)

So, going pretty well thank goodness. I've been doing plenty of walking. Might try a very slow jog soon, if I can get a moment to myself!

@RedHotChilliPreppers I'm 5'4 so we're a similar height. I was struck reading your post how different our "normal" is, must be all about the body shape. I'm a b cup, small boned, and carry weight on my bum and thighs, so around 55-58kg looks right on me. Otherwise I'm all unbalanced looking.

@okayhescereal I didn't really put on much weight while I was pregnant with DS, but i also did the inhaling sugar thing with him postpartum. I put on about 7kg, lost it, got pregnant, and put on about 12kg 🙄 I'm coming up for 40 and really want to start building good habits - I've never been great at self-care, but I want to set a good example for my kids and also still have plenty of energy at 50.

Bluebellsinthewind · 22/10/2024 19:58

Checking in to say, I lost 1 pound last week. Very happy with that, especially after Googling a picture of 1 pound of fat 🤢

I've been sticking to drinking at least 2 litres a day and oh my what a difference its made to my skin, de puffed me and my bowel issues have cleared up.

Trying to dodge the winter stodge food and think up new recipes to make for dinners. Noticed that reducing bread etc has really helped de puff my face and stomach.

I say this every week on here but really need to increase my exercise. Especially my arms they are so flabby.

Hope everyone else is having a good week.

Wehaditsogood · 23/10/2024 10:48

Also checking in.
Well done @Bluebellsinthewind !

My weight is exactly the same as last week. As I am on my period, that is still a loss for me.

Exercise is hard during half-term, as DS loves chatting away with me in my lunchtime. I have very little time left for myself as a result.
He will soon be an adult and I will not have the opportunity to hang out with him.

RedHotChilliPreppers · 23/10/2024 17:45

I didn’t quite break my 70kg/ losing 5 kg mark this week, but I still lost 0.8kg, so not a bad week. Hopefully next week. The weight loss does seem to be slowing a bit. TBH, if I lose a pound a week I’m going in the right direction.

So far I’ve lost 10 lbs and not one bugger has noticed 😜 I have 12lbs to lose to my goal weight.

Well done you!!

Also, same! Noone has noticed. But then tbh I haven't really even noticed a change in my clothes or anything. Mind you I'm 10lbs down with 40 to go. So maybe that's why 😅

Swearwolf · 24/10/2024 09:32

I actually find it reassuring when nobody notices. Usually I notice every pound on my own body but don't notice other people gaining or losing weight until it's a significant difference. Given how much my own weight goes up and down, I feel more confident knowing people won't notice if I go up a little, and it takes the pressure off a bit.

RedHotChilliPreppers · 24/10/2024 12:17

You are right of course. I’m not actually bothered if no one noticed. In fact I’d rather not draw attention to myself. I’d rather it went unnoticed. In the past when I’ve lost weight I did get a few snide comments.

One thing I’m looking forward to is wearing clothes I’ve in my cupboard that don’t fit. I’ve gorgeous coats that won’t close and a beautiful top I love that I can’t get over my boobs. If I can get into them I’ll be so happy.

okayhescereal · 26/10/2024 15:08

Ugh this week has been so hard. Have been struggling to make any good choices at all. Am on a fast day today and all I want to do is eat!! Should have fasted on Thursday, then yesterday and both times I fell off the wagon.

Had a sneaky check today and haven't gained anything (in spite of some really sketchy food intake over the last week) but think I'm set for another (deserved) week of slow /no movement. Though actually when I did a sneaky check in last week I'd lost and then by the time Monday rolled around I was back up, so shouldn't make any assumptions at this point.

Can't blame it on my cycle either, am right smack bam in the middle of it. Bleugh.

PrincessofWells · 26/10/2024 17:31

@okayhescereal can you keep going?* *I don't think the time of year helps. It's stew and pie weather and there's chocolate everywhere. Mine has slowed to lb a month, but that's still a win.

Does anyone else obsessively check their weight every morning?

I used to, but now try very very hard to just weigh on Monday. Which usually means I'll check at least one other time in the week but Monday is the only one I count.

I'm still sticking to the fast. Did eat one of DS's gummy vitamins 😂 but I'm letting that slide!! I agree 1lb off is still a win. Some weeks I've lost 0.2lbs so I feel you. Slow and steady is still in the right direction. Just wish I knew why some weeks I'm ravenously hungry and other weeks all seems fine!!

sinesperanza · 27/10/2024 10:41

Have officially lost 2kg since mid-September, this feels painfully slow atm

Swearwolf · 27/10/2024 12:38

I'm also obsessively weighing myself! My weight loss is never linear but it's working out at about a lb a month. So slow! But it's better than it going up!

I had a successful week with lots of exercise and pretty decent eating habits, then lost it a little over the weekend with drinks and snacks. I'm away for work this week which always makes things more difficult as I'll be eating out a lot, but I plan to take my running stuff and try to get out every day even for a little bit.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/10/2024 20:23

I've had a pretty dreadful October food and drink wise, really off the plan. It's my DD's 21st on Tuesday so we will be going out for a meal and probably a Prosecco or 2, but after Tuesday I have absolutely got to get my head into gear.

Currently I feel tired, sluggish, my sleep is terrible, I'm forgetting to take my vitamins so I feel even worse and having palpitations without my magnesium. Generally I feel really depleted and completely uncared for. I need to really get my act together!

Oh bless your heart!! Please allow yourself to really enjoy DD's birthday without any negatives about calories etc. These occasions are rare and should be celebrated ♥️

Idk what you're trying, but I've found intermittent fasting has been great for keeping me in check even when I'm having less than healthy cravings. Because there's a time limit on eating I can only do so much damage I think.

okayhescereal · 28/10/2024 07:34

85.7kg today so a kilo off in the last week after maintaining the week before.

Brings me to a total loss so far of -4.5kg in 7 weeks. 8 weeks left till Christmas! -17.5kg till goal.

If I could manage another 4kg between now and the season of feasting I'd be rather delighted! That would take me down into the next stone bracket. But also realistically things are going to slow down once the Christmas parties and dinners hit, so perhaps aiming to be in the next stone bracket by 2025 is a more realistic goal. My birthday is before Easter and am hoping to have lost the lot by then!

RedHotChilliPreppers · 28/10/2024 08:58

Just weighed in and I lost 0.75 kg and I’ve smashed through 70kg which is what I wanted to do. I had 10kg to lose, lost 5.4, got 4.6kg to go before Christmas.

Last week was quite good food wise. I did Pilates reformer twice, 2 weight sessions and ran 26K.

Hopefully I can keep up the motivation.

Wehaditsogood · 30/10/2024 14:49

Checking in. 92.9kg today, so I lost 0.9kg since last week.
Slow, but steady.

Bluebellsinthewind · 02/11/2024 13:48

Hi all,

Checking in to say that I stayed the same last week and I have put on 1 pound this week 😫

On the whole I am ok with this because I've had a lot on over Halloween weekends with parties etc.

I've increased my exercises and walking. Totally loving Joe Wicks on YouTube, so easy to pop one of his videos on and absolutely love that he gives you a timer per set.

I have noticed the past few weeks that my whole body is really bloated. I look like a big puffy fish!
Wondering if this in the increased exercises or winter comfort food?

My plan for this week is to keep on exercising, eating well and doing my daily self care/ taking my daily vitamins. The changes for the better in my hair, skin, nails, sleep and general emotions/moods is pushing me on.

I've reduced alcohol to one night during the week and weekends. Its generally only weekends like a Saturday night though unless we have something on. I've stopped buying a bottle of wine because I would finish off a bottle. I now buy two mini bottles or a couple of cans of gin and tonic.

Lots of luck for this week everyone 😊

Wehaditsogood · 02/11/2024 18:40

@Bluebellsinthewind I am very jealous of your diligent exercising. I just have regular and long walks at this stage. (I am too heavy and I worry about injuring my knees.)

Started to fit into smaller size clothes / belts. Phew!

Anyone else gets really tired by the evening? Maybe fewer calories mean I get shattered earlier. I can't even read after 10pm.
