I started as size 14 and now a size 10 and have lost 3lb's short of 2 stone. It was really weird, cos i sort of missed out size 12 clothes. It must have been after loosing about a stone, that all my clothes felt really baggy, it was then that almost everyday i would have different people saying 'Have you lost weight?' THAT REALLY HELPS THE MOTIVATION. I dwindled abit after loosing a stone, because it was slow and people weren't commenting anymore. Just got to keep motivated and you're bound to need new clothes soon x

By the way, my friend who started as size 18, has also lost 2stone, but is still in size 16 clothes, not sure how it all works.

Don't know if this is any good, but here's an idea for a red day dinner whilst on sw:

  • Cottage pie, made with half potato and half swede mash (this way the healthy extra's don't get swallowed up)

also i love laughing cow light cheese triangles on a jacket spud (easy to just take 3 triangles into work, and get a 'dry' spud with salad from butty shop)

BethAndHerBrood · 27/01/2005 18:52

What do you do with the mince for the cottage pie? When i normally make it, it would use too many syns. Gravy, thickening, etc.

choclover · 27/01/2005 20:28

I fry v. lean mince with frylite, onions and garlic till brown, then add carrots, couchette's or whatever veg i've got in. Add tin or tomatoes and a spoonful of beef bovril. By letting it simmer for 30-40 mins most the juice goes and its pretty thick. When you spoon it into the dish, just make sure there's no excess juice from tinned toms. Then boil spuds and swede and mash with bit of milk. Put a healthy extra of cheese on the top and its nice.

I always find it hard to make a 'complete' meal on a red day, when i've used a healthy extra B on brekkie and for a butty at lunchtime? Anyone have any good idea's for dinner's on red days?

BethAndHerBrood · 28/01/2005 10:21

Thanks for that, choclover, very helpful! We'll be having cottage pie one day soon!

Loobz · 30/01/2005 22:27

Had to laugh when I read your message about sw groups Bethandherbrood. The one I go to is awful - I only stick it because I know the plan works for me.

Just when you think the group can't get any worse - it does!! There is someone inparticular that i just can't stand, i avoid her like the plague. Now, however, once a week i have to sit 3 feet away from her and bloody clap, FFS!!!!! It's enough to drive anyone to chocolate!!

DecafArabica · 31/01/2005 12:06

I know what you mean about groups, BethAnd--we have the world's most unenthusiastic consultant who keeps banging on about how much weight she has put ON with SW!! She then adds half-heartedly that 'it does work though...if you give it 100%...'
Haven't been in group for a week due to bronchitis and am also pg, eating gone really haywire--some days hardly eating and the next having loads of carbs and cheese. So a bit scared to go back to group. I'm hoping to be well enough to turn up tomorrow even if just for weigh-in.

BethAndHerBrood · 31/01/2005 17:19

I'm having a green day, does anybody know if i can have Batchelors Super Noodles - bacon flavour? I've looked in the books and am none the wiser, haven't got this weeks password to get on the S.W. website!!

Kittypickle · 31/01/2005 17:28

I think the Bacon Supernoodles are 6.5 syns. The Batchelor low fat supernoodles (any flavour) are free, but not the other ones.

I've got my first WI tomorrow and I'm very worried that I migh have put on weight, fingers crossed that I haven't and have actually lost.

BethAndHerBrood · 31/01/2005 17:30

Oh No!!!! 6.5 syns!!!!! Won't be having them, then! Piece of fuit - here i come!! Damn, REALLY wanted them!!! Thaks anyway!

BethAndHerBrood · 31/01/2005 17:31

Oops - thaNks!

I'm very slightly panicking, please someone tell me I won't have put on weight ! I've been doing green days and the consultant told me to really test out the free foods, so I have been......

Kayleigh · 03/02/2005 14:25

Just hi-jacking your thread with a message for Christie. Thanks so much for the bars. Hope to see you soon X

I've just been browsing some of ther other SW threads and noticed that some of you talk about 15 syns a day being OK, my consultant told me to have 10 syns a day, is there any special criteria to be met to be allowed an extra 5? (not that I would use them every day, very often barely touch my syns but just wondered how it works)

Kittypickle, how did you get on with your first weigh-in?

Demented · 05/02/2005 14:24

Bump!

I understand now Christie, that makes sense.

SPARKLER1 · 06/02/2005 22:01

Hi everyone. Thanks for all your kind words. Am going to go back to SW meetings tomorrow night. Not quite back on my feet but have to get motivated again with weight loss. Have two weddings to go to - one in April and one in July so I really want to shift some of this weight. Haven't had chance to catch up on this thread but hope you are all doing well. Look forward to hearing from you all soon.

How did it go Sparkler?

I have a query for all you experienced SW members. I am planning on going for a Chinese buffet (fatal I know) next week and due to my love of rice feel it has to be a green day. The question is can I use both my 'B' choices on meat, either chicken and more chicken or chicken and prawns etc, etc?

Figured if this was OK and I stuck to dishes that weren't covered in batter and stick to boiled rice (oh but egg fried is sooo nice) it might not be too bad.

SPARKLER1 · 07/02/2005 21:36

I didn't go. Was all up for it this morning. Had a bit of a downer this afternoon and couldn't bring myself to go again. I just popped down to the local shop to get bread for the kid lunchboxes and I bumped into my consultant. Most embarassing. I had a huge pizza in my trolley!!!
Have told her I hope to get there for next week.
