Hi everyone. Re the 'can you really eat as much free food as you want' issue. In my experience, I definitely can't on a green day, but I can on an original one. Am sure that's partly due to there being less calorific snack choices available on an original day, especially if you don't eat meat. Today was a green day and for lunch had a really huge plate of Quorn sausages (4 of them) with a can of beans and 2 eggs fried in fry-light, followed by 2 ML yogurts and 2 apples. If I'd been on an original day I would probably have had just a can of tuna with a load of salad leaves.

Demented · 16/01/2005 14:13

For me a green day usually leaves me feeling a bit bagged up, so to speak! I think it's because I eat a lot of pasta and after a few days of green I am convinced I have put on weight, although once again I have switched to red and things have got moving again! TMI!!!

DecafArabica · 16/01/2005 23:54

Original days definitely are better for shifting pounds, I think, but being pg I am really craving carbs.

Hi,
I still havent made it to my first class yet, was sick last week, and DH has a drivng lesson tonight ( so no one to look after DS). Have bought a slimming world mag and am trying some of the suggestions, but cant really start until I have a full list of foods for Green days and orange days.
Arabica , congratulations on being PG. How does following the plan work for you? You cant be expecting to lose weight, just not gain I assume.

Can I ask a few slimming world questions? As yo are all experts. I couldn't work them out from the website. I understand you pay a joining fee then a weekly class price. How long do you commit for? It says you can only take 4 weeks off.

Alls how is it adapting the recipes for a toddler? I don't want to cook different meals. Is is just a matter of letting them have full fat stuff in other ways (yoghurt etc)

Has anyone done the purely online version? I'm not sure if I fancy meetings. Mainly because I think I might know the local consultant from my gym.

Demented · 19/01/2005 14:17

Hi Jane, I joined a couple of weeks ago and paid £5 membership (think this is a special offer for Jan/Feb). The four weeks off thing is if you give the consultant notice you will not be at class that week, otherwise if you took a week off when you went back you would be expected to pay for the week that you were off.

So far I've found the food very easily adaptable to children (I have two DSs, aged 2 and 6). We have pasta a lot and I just add more cheese to the children's portions, you can have things like roast chicken, baked potatoes (butter and extra cheese for the kids), homemade soup, etc, etc. Bread, fruit and full-fat yoghurts are generally always on offer in our house plus the odd chocolate treat. Many recipes can be easily adapted using spray oil or taking olive oil as a healthy extra. TBH I have found this far easier than the WW points I was following before, I found it very difficult to find family meals that didn't obliterate most of my points, therefor I ended up making separate meals for myself three or four evenings a week.

Demented · 19/01/2005 14:20

BTW I have joined SW with the intention of stopping going very soon (once they have the book I have ordered from them in stock) and continuing the plan at home. However I realise that this is not for everyone but if you feel you can do it it's a cheaper option than the on-line version as you are given a book at the start that tells you all you need to know and you could follow the plan simply from that book.

jane313 · 19/01/2005 18:11

thank you very much thats very interesting. The online version was pricey but I may try the weeks trial thing. I couldn't fave my eveings writign a food diary though.

I want to try something new but don't feel I have the mental energy for something too time consuming. I also like the ide of it being good for pregnancy breastfeeding and diabetes inca se I ever go for number 2 as I had gestational diabetes last time.

Twiglett · 20/01/2005 14:09

I've stopped going to class as of this week .. but am still doing diet (apart from ONE sole bad day )

I'm still allowed to play aren't I?

Went to class last night and lost a pound and a half. Really pleased cos I've had a stressful week at work and I've been picking again. I could throttle whoever brought a huge tim of roses and one of quality street into the office. They were all warned not to and nobody will admit to it!!!! We keep fruit and Hi-fi bars in the office but nothing beats good old chocolate when you're stressed!

Twiglett · 21/01/2005 11:26

OMG .. muller light apple pie yogurt .. YUMMEEEEEE

how many syns was it?

(and how many in the cheesecake one)

it is just truly and utterly delicious .. cannot believe how very very yummy it is

Demented · 21/01/2005 13:54

One syn in the Applepie one and half a syn in the in the lemon cheesecake one. They are yummy aren't they? I've had to stop buying them as I have found I can rack up quite a few syns that way!

Demented · 21/01/2005 14:16

Christie, hope it's just a blip. Did you do what I did and drink a litre of water before the class? I am blaming my weight gain on this last week.

DH is taking me out to dinner tonight so I am trying to be very neutral today. Had quorn sausages at lunchtime, had never tried them before and still not sure what I think. Had them with scrambled egg, think they might have been better with beans as the tomato sauce would have hidden the taste/texture slightly better.

Any ideas what to have for dinner? We are going somewhere quite posh (arrrgh! the mexican we wanted to go to was fully booked!!!), have tried to access the menu on-line but I can't find it now. Thinking of making it a red day and going for steak or fish for main course but it's the pudding that is going to be the biggest challenge, don't anyone dare tell me not to have one, I can't do it!!!

Marjoriedawes · 21/01/2005 17:04

Sorry havent posted for so long, have been really ill with flu, still poorly now, one consolation is that I appear to have lost 6 lbs so far! probably due to the fact that I havent been eating at all!I guess some pf that will go back on once I start eating eating again.

Demented · 22/01/2005 10:15

Went for the sea bass and it came with roasted veg and 4 small new potatoes, so not so bad for a red day. Had cheesecake afterwards. Biggest mistakes of the evening were the Smirnoff Ice (9 syns), I only had one as it tasted sickly sweet and the peanuts (about 12 syns worth ), the food at the restaurant was beautiful but left us both feeling peckish!

Loobz · 22/01/2005 11:05

Marjoriedawes, sorry to hear you haven't been well - It'll have been worth it if you've lost 6lbs though

Marjoriedawes · 22/01/2005 12:25

Tried the quorn sausages yeaterday, they werent too bad actually, had them with beans, potatoes and poached egg. had amuller light yog for afters and a banana, feel so virtuous!!!

Twiglett · 22/01/2005 19:03

Hey guys .. can you help me .. I don't have access to the online tools any more cos I stopped going

Batchelors pasta 'n' sauce (bolognese flavour) if made with just water on a green day .. is that free?
