Anyone else out there with 5 plus stones to lose? Who fancies doing a weekly weigh in with me?

sandramaryb · 08/04/2008 20:06

I have got really overweight in the last couple of years and would love to meet some others who might be trying to cut down but not exactly dieting. Where do you start when there is so much to lose? Any tips on evening snacking? TIA

hi all
sorry not been around i have had some bad times with food of late, i hate myself for the way food controls me.... I cant even begin to explain it all, but i could just eat and eat and eat... i can have maybe 2 ood days then i have 3 bad days and i am back to square on plus more..... and i am dreading summer i hate taking my coat off

AGS - what does your day food intake consist of, your losses are very impressive....

DottieLottie · 24/04/2008 19:42

Huh, now is it just me or do other people look at clothes on hangers and think 'oh they will definitely fit' but once you attempt to try them on you either can't get them on or they are just soooo tight!! I'm with you chocolatespiders oh no not summer......

bigbellylady · 24/04/2008 21:04

chocolate s dont worry -I did not get to be 9 stone overweight by being able to control what I eat !
We are in the same boat. I am trying to be positive and change the bad relationship with food for good. Just hang in there and keep going.
Am off to bed now but dont desert us please ....

Ags · 24/04/2008 21:28

Warning - this is long. Sorry ladies!

My goodness, we are becoming a fantastic group aren't we? It is great to see so many newbies. Welcome to you all.

Chocolate, I have to admit being the enormous porker I am (starting weight 21 stones 4lbs and 5ft 8) and having done this weight watchers thing before I know that I can't eat my daily allowance. It would be way over 30 points. I need to eat less, have a faster weight loss and therefore keep myself motivated. So I allow myself 24 points a day and I eat mainly before 6pm which I find works for me. I want to stress that weight watchers do not reccommend this and it may bite me in the arse as I lose more weight. I may plateau terribly but if I do, I will deal with it then. And you don't have to tell me anything about having a bad relationship with food! There are days, weeks, months, years when I can not stuff enough shit into myself. The way it is working for me at the moment is that I am still obsessed with food but it is obsessional about points and staying within the limits. I have no idea how I got to this point. Last year, I did GI, Grapefruit diet, cabbage soup diet and weight watchers as well. I was not in the right mind to do it. I am now and I wish I could put a bit in a bottle to send to you. I hope that it keeps going this way but it could end for me tomorrow and I know I would be back to square one. Sorry for the length of this but I really really feel for you and please know I am sending you lots of virtual support.

For your information, my diet today consisted of
100g of Baguette and 4 lean only bacon with ketchup for brunch. (check out the amount of 100g of Baguette - it is quite big and only 4 points),
4 Jaffa Cakes,
Oven Chips (200g/5 points), Tesco BBQ Chicken Fillets (4 of them/5 points), Huge pile of low fat Colesaw (2 points) and tonnes of microwave mushrooms for dinner,
A Crunchie just now.

Normally I have Cereal (rice Krispies/weetabix or Frosties), 2 toast and marmalade for breakfast.

Lunch is generally a sandwich or two, soup, beans on toast, an omlette or jacket potato with beans or something hot with salad.

Dinner is usually spag bol or chicken curry and rice or mash and low fat sausages and beans or roast dinner (chick/mash/parsnips/loads of veg/gravy) or really any meat/potato/veg combo.

Hope this is helpful Choc! x

I have got to do something i loved it today when dd1 (off school) was able to come with me to get dd2 from school to act as my barrier, i wish she could do it every day so people looked at her beauty rather than me...

RGPargy · 24/04/2008 22:24

Hi everyone and welcome newbies!

I'm the same re the clothes on the hangers. I think in my head i'm still thin but when it comes to looking in the mirror or holding up a pair of my trousers, i get very shocked about the size of stuff and it's awful isn't it!

Oh well never mind. That's why i'm on this thread, because i want to do something about it with the help and support of others in the same boat, like everyone on this thread.

It's a very motivational thread isn't it!

RGPargy · 24/04/2008 22:25

Oh choc, please dont feel you have to hide yourself away. OK so you might have a few extra pounds (like all of us here) but you are still a human being and still deserve to stand tall and be proud of who you are!

jaz236 · 25/04/2008 09:24

yes Ags thats right 4lbs -

Im the same in my head im thinking Im thin, when i was size 8 ten years ago, and when I hold up any item in the shops like a 12 they look tiny and im thinking are they getting their sizes wrong?

chocolatespiders · 25/04/2008 11:28

hi all

thankyou rgpargy for your kind words....

I feel bit better today and more positive , i have been to ALDI and bought loads of lovely cheap fresh strawberries, rasberries, corgettes mushrooms etc etc....
i didnt buy any bread, pizza, crossiants, crisps etc..so i am very proud of myself...

Just got back home (dont work fridays) and i am having my cereal.... before i have to go back out at 12 to do my homestart volunteering.. so i wont eat again till about 4ish... so today will be a a good healthy eating day for me, i hope it is for you to...
xx

LooptheLoop · 25/04/2008 11:49

Just to echo rgpargy - you sound a fantastic person chocolatespiders. Why on earth would you want to hide behind anyone else?

I'm too cowardly to even get on the scales this week. Had a very stressful time with one thing and another and I AM A BIG FAT SINNER THIS WEEK!

There, confessional over! Over and upward. Will have to go for long walks this weekend to amend for my sins (no hint of a Catholic convent education coming through, honest !

RGPargy · 25/04/2008 14:12

Hi all

Going to the in-laws tonight as it's MIL's birthday and we're having a curry. What's the best thing to have for the least points? I dont want to blow it entirely, although i think i have about 25 points to play with. Saying that, i need to allow for a couple of drinks too. Erk!

KelaH · 25/04/2008 14:33

Hi RG - avoid the naan bread, and try to go for something without a sauce, ie chicken tikka (not chicken tikka masala!), or if you do want a sauce, then a tomato based one is better than a creamy one. Plain rice is fairly low in points. If you want, let me know what you would usually have and I will look up the points for you (have paid for monthly pass so can use the website)

chocolatespiders · 25/04/2008 16:31

looptheloop-thankyou, I am sure you will get back on track.... I seem to be oh so good, and if i am bad i am really bad and dont stop....

rgpargy. what would you normally have at the indian, if you have nann bread(my fav) swap it for chappati, or just have half, hope you have a great time and if you have that many points in your allowance i think you could have quite a feast!!,
I think biriani (sp)is low fat also

RGPargy · 25/04/2008 17:02

Hiya!

My normal curry would consist of:

Chicken Tikka Masala
Mushroom Rice
Garlic Naan Bread
2 popadums
1 onion bhaji

I have saved 6 points over the last two days, plus i have 24 points left over from today (and i could always save points on Saturday and Sunday!).

Any info would be brill, thanx!

Thanx for that Ags!

Ags · 25/04/2008 17:15

Whoops, you are looking at 46 points for that! It is such a nightmare isn't it? My friend's husband counted up his points for a normal night out at the indian and it came to 80 including beer! So you are not doing too badly with 46!

chocolatespiders · 25/04/2008 17:27

blimey i am shocked at the points for those...the sauces are obviously lethal...
I like the spinach side dish...
also shocked at the byriani, that is a rice dish, with veg curry on the side.

It sounds like you have worked hard to save the points up so i hope you enjoy the meal...

how is everyone else doing today?

KelaH · 26/04/2008 08:49

Hi all.

Time for a weekly update - I have been doing fairly well this week, but not as well as last week - not eating enough fruit and veg, and have gone over my points a couple of times (only by 1/2 a point though, and have made it up on other days.

So, my goal for this week is to eat 8 portions of fruit a day.

RGPargy · 26/04/2008 12:42

Hi everyone

Dont think i did too badly last night all in all.

I did have the Chick Tikk Mass in the end but there was only about 8-10 small pieces of chicken in the dish and i only had about 4 or 5 tablespoons of sauce. I also had the mushroom rice, but only 3/4 of it and only had 1/4 of a naan. I had one poppadum and one onion bhaji. I'm going to work out the points now, including my drinks too (2 pints of beer and one Smirnoff Ice).

A good thing tho is that i REFUSED to have some cake!!!

How's everyone else?

RGPargy · 26/04/2008 12:58

Right well it turns out for the whole day i had 42, including drinks etc. I saved 6 points from the previous two days so i have actually gone one point under!

jaz236 · 26/04/2008 16:41

oh my gawd and i only have points!!! u must try the belgian chocolate weightwatchers cakes, they are divine and only 1 and half points -but i ate 4 last nite all in one go not even thinking about it - I was possessed!!

KelaH · 26/04/2008 21:10

Well done RG!!
