Anyone else out there with 5 plus stones to lose? Who fancies doing a weekly weigh in with me?

I have got really overweight in the last couple of years and would love to meet some others who might be trying to cut down but not exactly dieting. Where do you start when there is so much to lose? Any tips on evening snacking? TIA

Jaz - lol!! sounds like the sort of thing i would do! That is exactly the reason why i dont buy stuff like that because i just know that 1, 2 or 3 most probably wont be enough!

KelaH - Thanx!

jaz236 · 27/04/2008 09:18

Well i bought the double choc chip cookies yesterday and ate them all!! and then moved on to the ginger and lemon ones, my hubbie was making bitchy coments everytime he past me in the kitchen!
Last week i spent 15.00 on weight watchers food! i ate all the danish bread, and all the crisps, which to be honest are vile!! and moved on to the almond and banana cakes lovley and moist!

new week new mee and no sweet food anymore!! the end of an era!!

right Im off for a long walk now and think about what ive done !

Hi everyone, I'm back on the planet today after doing some exams on Friday night and Saturday morning. I spent the whole week fretting and I was surprised I lost a pound considering I was having 2 hourly feeds to counterbalance the stress. After my ordeal I feel like "this is the first day of the rest of my life" (who said this in a film - I can't remember). I have been putting off tons of things and I feel really positive today. I think it is also because I slept for 8 hours last night with only one wake up so I'm sure that helps. I hope everyone has a good day.

Jaz!! Gawd, you are jsut like me lol!!

Sandra - Welcome back to the planet! Glad you are feeling positive today. Good luck for the coming week!

michie40 · 27/04/2008 11:50

All this talk of curry is making me very hungry - I am starving at the moment - waiting for DH to cook goulash (apparently only 3.5 points when I typed it in).

I just wondered how long it took you lot to notice that clothes were getting smaller - I have no patience and have only been doing this 4 weeks.

I think my jeans are a bit looser but it never happens quick enough for me. I have lost about 10 lbs so far but not really noticing much visual change yet. When do you think it really begins to show?

I am just loosing motivation a bit as it takes so long - but then I guesse it took me a long time to put on all this wieght.

jaz236 · 27/04/2008 13:47

please dont give up at this most cruicial time! I reckon if the weather wasnt so crap and was sunny the last thing we would be thinking about is food!!

In my last job all we ever talked about was food!! ITs my favourite topic!

and think how hot you will look in the summer, and also autumn and winter where you will only have to wear a few layers and stil look hot, whereas before if you are like me one layer and im like the michelin man!!

sandramaryb · 27/04/2008 14:17

Don't give up Mitchie40, you are doing really well. 10lbs is so good! Are you exercising a bit as well?

If I think I'm liable to snack, which is practically every day I peel some carrots and leave them in the fridge and if I happen to stray "unofficially" in to the kitchen then it is my first defence. Good luck anyway.

OP posts:
sandramaryb · 27/04/2008 20:30

OK forget putting a photo on the fridge for motivation. How about remembering the embarrassment of sitting in a garden chair and it falling to bits under your weight . Well that happened to me today and I'll try to replay it when I need some motivationing thoughts!

I'm off to eat cucumber salad with indian-spiced low fat yoghurt. It is really good especially with some ground cumin seeds.

Realy desperate to shed extra kg for the sake of a health.I am only 27 and staying without breath,i am all the time tired... Need some inspiration an advice...thank you...
Starting now....

RGPargy · 27/04/2008 22:42

Oh Sandra!! That happened to me once too. I was sitting in a plastic chair in a very hot garden (in Spain). Anyway, i'm quite wasp-phobic so when one came near me i kinda flapped a bit and the legs on the chair buckled underneath me! I jumped up quickly and thankfully the chair righted itself but it was very very embarrassing!

cocostar - hello and welcome! Hope you've been good so far today. Your inspiration can be to keep up with us and to remember how good it feels when you drop a few kgs!! Good luck!

bigbellylady · 28/04/2008 05:32

hi, I had fallen off the diet wagon for a few days but am back and feeling positive now.
Had a session with my trainer yesterday and got another 6 booked in so determined to keep up with it.
My mum really annoyed me yesterday by suggesting we go to slimming world (I have tried it about 8 times and it did not work for me and my mum only needs to lose a stone). My mum then told me she worries about my health (I am healthy). I felt really got at and like a scolded child. I am trying not to let it get to me and be positive again.
Well done everyone for staying with it and welcome to coco.
I know it is going to be a long journey and the support here is great.

RGPargy · 28/04/2008 08:18

Hi BBL! Nice to have you back! Shame you fell off the wagon but oh well, what's done is done. Time to climb back on with us lot and do your best to stay on.

I know what you mean about mums trying to be helpful. It makes you feel like crap doesn't it and just makes you want to reach for the nearest bar of chocolate!

Yes, the journey will be a long one, but you're in good company.

x

jaz236 · 28/04/2008 09:47

Everyone should imagine themselves looking hot for summer!!! and not wearing that dammed cardigan each year and saying its not that hot as we dont want to show our arms again!!

jaz236 · 28/04/2008 10:07

Butternut Squash Chips: "Put tiny bit of oil over the top, lots of salt and pepper, chilli powder - and pop in oven for about 40 mins - like real chips." this is off the fatfighters website!!

also popcorn is good as there si no fat in there!"

RGPargy · 28/04/2008 12:49

oooo good idea! I was going to suggest parsnips too but they are 1 point for 90g of parsnip.

Ags · 28/04/2008 15:05

Welcome Cocostar! What diet are you doing? WE are a very mixed bunch here so there will be someone who will no doubt be doing the same.

BBL, my Mum saying that to me (as she has through the years) makes me want to eat lard! I totally know it is out of concern and love but I can't bear being told what I already know! Welcome back on the wagon!

Have my weigh in tomorrow and I hope that it will be a positive result. I have stayed within my points every day so should be ok. Fingers crossed.

RGPargy · 28/04/2008 15:12

Hurrah - I have lost my first stone!!!!
I have just wieghed myself and I have lost 3 lbs so finally reached 14 stone.

Still a lot to go but its a good start.

Been reading through what people have been saying about their mothers comments about their wieght - I find this kind of thing really unhelpful as well.

My Mum is tiny (5ft 2) and has been a size 10 all her life. This is my Dads idea of an ideal women and I dont think he has ever understood why I look nothing like her (in fact I am about twice her size!). He made comments about the size of my thighs and feet (size 9) throughout my childhood - so I didnt grow up with a very good body image.

However finally at the age of 32 I find I quite like my body and just want to loose the weight so I can wear all the clothes I want to and join in games and go cycling with my two girls. I no longer care what he thinks.

Having said that I am not telling them about this diet as I dont want them to start making comments about what I am eating or shouldnt be eating - as it is none of their business.

Parents can cause such problems - I dread to think what I am doing to my girls without realising it .

Ags · 28/04/2008 19:19

RG! Well done you star! You must be delighted. What a great start.

Michie your first stone. Congratulations. It is such a fantastic achievement. Well done.

I sympathise with you regarding parents. Thankfully though, my Dad thinks I am the most beautiful woman in the world (after my Mum of course). I'm with you on quite liking my body. I really am not unhappy with my appearance I just want to be healthier and fitter for my children. The fabulous clothes will be a bonus!

jaz236 · 28/04/2008 20:55

Oh wow congrats to you both well done! Weightwatchers obviously does work.

RGPargy · 28/04/2008 22:20

Thanx everyone!

Well done Michie!!

I bought myself some swanky new kitchen scales tonight and they are very nice indeed! It'll make weighing stuff so my nicer (and more stylish) and i wont have to keep trying to zero them manually all the time. Hoorah!

RGPargy, thanks for your words of consolation re. the chair breaking.

I walked for 40 minutes today which was great for my mental and physical.

Welcome CoCoStar.

Ags - well done!! You go girl!!

Sandra - well done on the exercise! I just cant even think about it at the moment so well done you!

DS is offering to buy us pizza for dinner tonight. This is a huge deal because he's been out of work for ages and i spose he wants to show off to us, IYSWIM lol. I was 14 points under yesterday () and i've not had an awful lot today so would it be that bad to have two slices plus a big pile of salad or summat?

jaz236 · 29/04/2008 20:41

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm i got weighed today and i only lost a pound! ive been walking like a looney today even in this god dammed awful weather. Ive never been a chocolate person, but since being pregnant its gone silly. Plus after breastfeeding im craving chocolate, i used to be savoury - very bizarre!

on the positive side which i must see it as, ive lost in total 5 pounds so really its good going and WW really works!!
