Anyone else out there with 5 plus stones to lose? Who fancies doing a weekly weigh in with me?

I have got really overweight in the last couple of years and would love to meet some others who might be trying to cut down but not exactly dieting. Where do you start when there is so much to lose? Any tips on evening snacking? TIA

Thanx for that girls! I'll start exploring and playing with soups i think. Since i started on Monday i seem to be permanently hungry! All in my head do you think?

Good luck today KelaH!

KelaH · 23/04/2008 09:00

COuld be psychological - you are aware you are on a diet so thinking about food more often than normal, but it could be caused by what you are eating - have you changed your diet; ie are you trying to eat small meals and then eating lots of snacks because you are hungry? If so then that could be why you are hungry. If you try eating bigger meals, then you shouldn't get hungry in between and won't be tempted to go over your points. My WW leader says that you shouldn't have more than 2 points a day for junk food; I probably have a little more than this coz I have so many points but it is a good theory - the vast majority of your points should be from 'real' food not chocolate etc. Of course that doesn't mean you can't have any chocolate at all

RGPargy · 23/04/2008 09:07

I reckon it's in my head - i've just had egg & bacon!

I also have loads of points too (37) so would just HAVE to use more than 2 points on junk!

RiaButterflew · 23/04/2008 09:48

only 2 points for junk

what would I eat then? can't be wasting points on real food!!!

Going well today...

michie40 · 23/04/2008 10:09

Hi - could I join this thread?

I have been on ww for three weeks now and started at 15 stone (now 14.3) and need to get down to about 9.5.

Never really done anything like this before as was slim growing up but the weight has kind of gone on without me noticing. It is a bit of an emotional issue for me as the rest of my family are skinny minnies and I would dearly like to be one too but can never admit it to them so I am doing this diet without telling them.

DH is great and doesnt really care what size I am - dont think he notices weight.

Anyway I guesse I am just looking for tips and people to talk to when I need motivation.

I like KelaHs tips on casseroles they look good. I am existing on rice cakes at the mo - with chocolate spread on them which I guesse isnt too healthy

RiaButterflew · 23/04/2008 10:19

hi michie. welcome.

RGPargy · 23/04/2008 10:33

Hi michie!

michie40 · 23/04/2008 10:39

thanks - got to pick up dd1 - so will pop back later

RGPargy · 23/04/2008 12:07

Just bought more jacket spuds, some cottage cheese, WW yogs at 1/2 point each and a bag of salad so that at least if i need to eat i can eat something quick and low pointage.

Ags · 23/04/2008 13:50

Hi Michie, welcome. I started ww without telling anyone except my dh and a very close friend. So I totally understand how you feel. Good luck with it all and look forward to hearing more from you.

Well done RG! I think I would be sick if I ate cottage cheese but great if you like it. I have never actually tasted it (I know, bizarre!) but I think my Mother's constant attempts at dieting and the regular appearance of cottage cheese on her plate really put me off! Isn't it weird the associations we have with certain foods?

RGPargy · 23/04/2008 14:34

Hi Ags

Yes it is funny about food association isn't it. My mum always used to eat cottage cheese alot too when she was on a diet. Only difference is that i actually like it!

Isn't it funny how, before WW, i wouldn't really eat much during the day and wouldn't even feel hungry but now that i've joined WW and have to THINK about food, i'm constantly hungry!!

If i cant get on with points, i might very well go to core and see what happens then.

KelaH · 23/04/2008 14:44

Hi Michie, welcome, and well done on the weight loss so far . I have added you to the loss list.

RG - I have done core before and quite liked it, just found it a bit too restictive, but if you are finding points too unresticted you may get on better with it - make sure you only change at the start of a week though.

I went to my meeting today, and have lost 3 lbs! I was hoping for 2 so I guess the walking I have been doing has paid off

cutekids · 23/04/2008 14:55

hi...well i'm 5ft 1' and 18stone 5!!! I know that's really bad before anyone comments. I'm going on holiday with all my very slim mates and their hubbies and their kids in July and I so want to lose at least 3 stone before then...?!!!(aim is to lose at least 5 stone before Christmas.?!

RiaButterflew · 23/04/2008 15:40

No comments from any of us cutekids, we're here for support not to judge.

I would love to lose 3 stone by July, but given my current progress may have to be happy with 1.

Ags · 23/04/2008 16:13

Hi cutekids. Absolutely no comment here. We are all more or less in the same boat (it's sinking!). Welcome.

RiaButterflew · 23/04/2008 17:20

lol Ags. you've cheered me up no end

RGPargy · 23/04/2008 17:32

Hi cutekids!

Like the others have said, no comments here!

Welcome aboard!

chewing20times · 23/04/2008 17:58

Well done all the losses this week. And welcome to the newbies.

I am off to weigh in tomorrow and am not too hopeful. Have had a week where I have been a bit down about other things and this really affects my motivation, and had a tin of rice pudding yesterday. Oops. I need to address the other things so will have a big chat with DH tonight (after which I will want toast, butter and marmite!)

I did have a dream last night that I was at the gym (last year for about 6 months I was going 3 times a week, but didn't loose much becasue I didn't change my eating habits) and I was enjoying it! Looking forward to DS going back to playgroup nextweek so can get on the bike...

Anyway will fill you in tomorrow...

jaz236 · 23/04/2008 20:54

hey hunni ive lost 4lbs now not 3.5.

you know whats nice black eyed peas or kidney beans with chillies and peppers tomatoes and cooked with paprika, and then you place on a tortilla - its heavenly - u have low fat mayonaise with some crushed garlic and salad, it is absolutely divine and low in fat and very good for you!!!

jaz236 · 23/04/2008 20:57

Another thing that ive found that is filling, sound stupid but sparkling water, its water but carbonated so its fat free - so a few glases of them as its fizzy makes me not want to snack as much as i used to

pantiesandsussies · 24/04/2008 10:01

Sussies here (don't ask its a bet) I have lost 2lb this week, down from 15st 7 to 15st 5

DottieLottie · 24/04/2008 11:37

Hi - I'm 5 4 (and a half!!!) and weigh 15st (blush). I can't even blame pregnancy as I was soooooo ill with all day sickness with dd2 (14mths) that I lost 2 stone during it! However, it has now all crept back on, am disgusted at myself - so get depressed and what do I do....no I don't go for a walk I eat junk! Think DH trying to sabotage me as I mention losing weight and he come home with choccies and cream cakes for me - bless think he does it sub conciously. Was slim when we met but after having dd1 (10) weight never disappeared just crept up over the years. Now heading to 40 (in a couple of years) and worry that I will never like my body!!

cutekids · 24/04/2008 12:40

i'm in a similar position too. i wasn't terribly fat when i got pregnant with dd1 (although i'd put weight on whilst on Clomid...fertility drug).I actually weighed 11 stone at the end of my first pregnancy (10 years ago) After 2nd pregnancy (9 years ago), I was 14 stone....After 3rd pregnancy (8 years ago), I was back "down" to about 13 stone....It's all the left-over fish-fingers etc.that i've got fat on...Plus the alcohol intake I seem to have made up for after being "tea-total" whilst being pregnant for nearly 3 years...! (Had 3 kids between May 98 and May 00!!!)

cutekids · 24/04/2008 12:40

oh and DottieLottie...i'm 5ft 1' and 18 stone 5lbs....!!!
