Anyone else out there with 5 plus stones to lose? Who fancies doing a weekly weigh in with me?

I have got really overweight in the last couple of years and would love to meet some others who might be trying to cut down but not exactly dieting. Where do you start when there is so much to lose? Any tips on evening snacking? TIA

Bloody DH has put Food Heroes on while we have a cup of tea... no way I can stop thinking about food now

RGPargy · 12/05/2008 11:19

Hi everyone!

Got weighed today and by some mad fluke i've lost 3.5lbs!!! I've updated the list.

Ags -2.5 lbs -48 lbs
BananaKnickers -4.5lbs -4.5lbs
Chewing20times -5lbs -21lbs
Ria -1lb - 6lb
Kelas -3lb -11lb
Jaz236 -2lb -7lbs
Sandramaryb -0 -3lb
Michie40 -? -7lbs
Sussies -2lbs -2lbs
RGPargy -3.5lbs -4.5lbs

I'm wondering if, as i'm only breastfeeding DD once a day now, i should take off the 10 points allowed if you're BF or whether i should add the 5 allowed for partially BF or if i should drop the BF allowance completely? Anyone know?

KelaH · 12/05/2008 12:50

RG - I would say to drop them completely, as you have so many points, but kind of have the 5 in reserve if you feel you need a bit extra - can only help the weight loss to eat less right?

RiaButterflew · 12/05/2008 12:56

well done RG

jaz236 · 12/05/2008 17:30

well done my darlink - i reckon we wil all be loking fabu in summer!!

RGPargy · 12/05/2008 19:29

Thanx ladies! I'm still in utter as to HOW i actually managed to lose that much. The only thing i can think of is this: Last week when i got weighed, i was alternating DD's feeds with one BF and one FF so milk would have been building up in my boobles as it wasn't being drank by DD. That made me put on 2.5lbs last week. This week however, DD is purely FF now, but still has a BF first thing in the morning so now my boobles have adjusted their milk supply accordingly and are not full of milk anymore, just a little trickle for DD in the mornings. That's my theory and i'm sticking to it!

KelaH - yes, i think you are right about the points. I will now allow myself 27 points, with an extra 5 as a buffer should i be desperate to use them. Last week tho i was going 7 points under so hopefully it wont be too hard.

Good luck to everyone else and their weigh-ins this week!

jaz236 · 12/05/2008 20:11

did u excercise?

RGPargy · 12/05/2008 20:33

lol Nope!!

Ags · 12/05/2008 21:22

Well done RG! Lovely lovely surprise result! I have just got my house back as brother, sister-in-law and nephew went back yesterday after staying with us for 10 days. IT was quite a tricky time as we are a 'food' family so it was feasts every day and it was hard to keep focussed. But I think I managed ok under the circumstances. We went to the beach one day and I even managed not to have fish and chips! Unprecedented!

Weigh in tomorrow. All crossed!

RGPargy · 12/05/2008 21:43

Sounds like you've been busy Ags!! Good luck with the weigh in tomoz. I can believe you didn't have chips at the seaside. You must have willpower of steel! If that were me, i'd have had chips, hot donuts (mmmmmmmm) AND ice cream! Well done you!

RiaButterflew · 13/05/2008 09:41

well done on your willpower Ags, my is seriously lacking (though I did not snack last night as went to bed early to avoid a row with DH).

I have started playing cricket/tennis with DS1 to help him practise (his tennis lessons cost a small fortune and he is still in the beginners group after 4 ? years. Not that I am a pushy parent, but he isn't playing with his own age group now. I might have to go and observe a couple of lessons to see if he gets anything out of it). He wants to join the school cricket team too. (He is 11). I hope it counts as exercise?

Ags · 13/05/2008 14:16

Sounds like good exercise Ria - any exercise is good eh? That is my next thing. I have got to start doing some real exercise. What does everyone else do? I would love to hear what you like/don't like. Trouble with me is I am bloody lazy and the effort of going out to do something exercise wise is like asking me to climb everest! Come on ladies, motivate me!

I lost 3 pounds today. I am very happy. That is a total of 51 pounds and I got a certificate from the leader! All these little prizes sound so pathetic but they really mean so much when you get one. I am obsessional about silver sevens. If they forget, I march back to make sure it goes in! Saddo!

Ags -3 lbs -51 lbs
BananaKnickers -4.5lbs -4.5lbs
Chewing20times -5lbs -21lbs
Ria -1lb - 6lb
Kelas -3lb -11lb
Jaz236 -2lb -7lbs
Sandramaryb -0 -3lb
Michie40 -? -7lbs
Sussies -2lbs -2lbs
RGPargy -3.5lbs -4.5lbs

RiaButterflew · 13/05/2008 14:40

Good for you Ags. If you've earned a reward you should damned well get it then you don't have to reward yourself with something naughty (like I would).

I like to walk as my main exercise, and I am trying to fit in a 10 minute burst every day on the lateral thigh trainer using handweights, but aren't managing that as often as I would like. I am dying for DS1 to get home from school so we can play tennis, but DH is going out on a temping job again tonight, so we won't be able to play unless DS3 will sit in his buggy and watch! I will send DH out to find out about joining to use the village courts later (though people might see me then...)

I used to do callanetics toning exercises, but they hurt! Salsa classes are fun too.

jaz236 · 13/05/2008 20:08

oh bugger bugger bugger, ive not lost any weight or gained any - aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!

defo those fish and chips and ice creams from blackpool, plus i had a buttered barm - oh gawd! -

RiaButterflew · 13/05/2008 20:50

don't worry jaz - no gain, that's worth a

RGPargy · 13/05/2008 21:06

Well done Ags!!

Jaz - just breathe a sigh of relief you didn't gain!

I do sweet F.A. exercise-wise. I'll get there eventually but i'm just not keyed up for anything just yet.

sandramaryb · 13/05/2008 21:31

You are doing really well Ags. You have shifted so much weight, especially when you think of it as bags of sugar! (the visualisation is a little strange I know).

I am doing my weigh in on Thursdays now as I am going to my local nurse to help keep me motivated.

well, and exercise, I'm still doing my swims 3 times a week and it is lovely. I sent off for a Ministry of Sound keep fit video and I just can't get through the warm up.

Keep up the good work everyone.

Lost only 0.8lb this week but it's that time of the month so I'm expecting a bigger loss next week.

Welcome JUNEYBEAN! We are around the same weight, so don't feel that you are on your own.

Well done on all the losses this week. xx

KelaH · 14/05/2008 06:43

I am dreading my weigh in today - haven't been all that good this week, god knows what the scales will say. Wish me luck, and I will check in later.
