Anyone else out there with 5 plus stones to lose? Who fancies doing a weekly weigh in with me?

I have got really overweight in the last couple of years and would love to meet some others who might be trying to cut down but not exactly dieting. Where do you start when there is so much to lose? Any tips on evening snacking? TIA

morning, lovely day here. And I did 10 minson my lateral thigh trainer, with hand weights, for the last two days. I'm still stuck with no loss though.

Have stocked up on salad for the weekend - might BBQ if DH gets his way, though probably curry tonight.

Have a great weekend.

RGPargy · 10/05/2008 11:54

Kelah - turns out i had 54 points yesterday lol. I'm normally allowed 37 points a day due to breastfeeding but DD is only having one breast feed a day now so i imagine i should probably be cutting down my points......

RGPargy · 10/05/2008 11:54

Ria - well done on the exercise! It'll come off slowly but surely - leave the scales alone! ;)

KelaH · 10/05/2008 14:35

Ah. maybe not so good then RG! I do think that if you are only feeding once a day then you only get 5 extra points not 10.

RGPargy · 10/05/2008 15:40

That's what i thought. In the book it says to allow 5 points if you are breast feeding and weaning so this is what category i probably come under. I'll do 27 points from Monday i think.

jaz236 · 10/05/2008 20:45

just a quick question, i have a 5 month old baby and iv been told by a friend of mine that i should give him a few drops of water - can someone tell me if this is ok??? im so confused!

by the way i went to the slug and lettuce and had reggae reggae burger (im not making it up) and chips - mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm - then came home and had rich toffe ww bar, and just finished ww caramel frozen pudding! oh adn 2 rounds of white toast and chilli cheese! - its the weekend!!

RGPargy · 10/05/2008 21:45

jaz - if your baby is formula fed, then it certainly doesn't hurt to give them some cooled boiled water from a cup or bottle. It can help if they are constipated. Breast fed babies however, dont generally need water as they will feed from the boob if they are thirsty as it's thirst quenching for them too.

Hope that helps!

jaz236 · 10/05/2008 22:52

aww bless you RGPARGY thank you, hes formula fed and breastfed, il try it tomorrow.

Now onto serious matters, my DH came in this evening and has cooked steak with peppered cream sauce and chips and yorkshire puds! oh my gawd and you can guess what happened!!

RGPargy · 10/05/2008 22:58

Jaz - you can never turn down a good steak!! I cant anyway!

If he's mixed fed, then he most probs wont need water.

DD was breastfed exclusively until 4.5 months and i never gave her any water or anything! Now she is mostly formula fed and just has a breastfeed first thing in the morning. She is now 22.5 weeks and I am only now thinking about maybe giving her some water, but only on a really hot day and if she gets hot and sweaty!

jaz236 · 11/05/2008 13:38

RGPARGY, right i see, well my friend who has 5 kids and they were all born in the 80's she tells me that she gave them all water and she cant believe that i havent heard of this before - he had a teaspoon last night and some baby rice, but hes is partially breastfeed and formula!

yes but the steak was eaten at 11.30 last nite

RGPargy · 11/05/2008 15:35

Did she formula feed all her kids? That could be why.... I wouldn't worry too much about it tbh. He would be kicking off big time or constipated if he wanted it, wouldn't he! He's probably getting his "drinks" from your boobles!

Cant comment on the steak at 11.30 i'm afraid. I've been quite naughty this weekend. I'm just sooooo tired this weekend and i think i must be due on as i've had an insatiable appetite to just sit and eat anything and everything this weekend too. I know for a fact that i wont have lost weight this week, but i'm dropping the 10 breastfeeding points as from tomorrow because, well, i dont think that one feed a day can justify the extra pointage!

Oh well....

RiaButterflew · 11/05/2008 17:14

It should be so easy to diet in this lovely weather as it's almost too hot to eat, but it's not

Had an amble round the forestry today, but I don't suppose I'll have burned much fat (and then then was the chccolate chip flapjack).

BBQ-ed meat and salad tomorrow! (don't know about tonight yet, DH gone out on a short-notice temping job, kids got left-over manky korma from last night. Might be pork chops when DH gets in. I wouldn't turn down steak at any time of the night BTW, DH works weird hours and we often eat late when he's working. I read somewhere so longs as it's within your daily allowance of "whatever" - calories/points etc - it won'tmake any difference to your weight loss, but isn't so hot for your digestion.)

RiaButterflew · 11/05/2008 17:15

BTW it's not actually unheathly manky - I cooked it and it has no flavour. The kids thought it was delicious

juneybean · 11/05/2008 18:04

I know you're not supposed to weigh yourself during the day but I did and now I feel like crap because I've reached 19 stone just want to crawl up and die

RiaButterflew · 11/05/2008 20:58

Hi juneybean, I don't think we've "met".

for you. Don't lose heart.

juneybean · 11/05/2008 21:24

Hi Ria, thanks for your reply. I usually frequent the nanny/nursery areas

My mum is a cambridge counsellor so I think I'll try and get a kick start losing with cambridge.

RiaButterflew · 11/05/2008 21:55

I know nothing about cambridge, though I have heard of it.

Are you new to this thread then? Come and join us, the more the merrier

juneybean · 11/05/2008 23:01

Yep new to the diet area really! Saw the scales and thought I should come and line up in here for a boot up the butt!

RGPargy · 11/05/2008 23:02

Hi Juney and welcome!!

From now on it is absolutely FORBIDDEN to weigh yourself at any other time other than first thing in the morning after your first wee! Geddit?!

juneybean · 11/05/2008 23:05

cowers yes !! Going to be good tomorrow and take charge to the swimming baths...though can't get much exercise paddling around the baby pool!

bigbellylady · 12/05/2008 08:19

Hi all, sory I have been AWOL for awhile.

Well I have had an amazingly bad week diet wise. I have just not been able to resist unhealthy crap food.

Exercise wise things still going well. My trainer had me running yesterday which was a shock but it has shocked me into getting a grip and cutting out the crap again.

We are off the centre parcs on fri so the thought of having to bee seen in my swimming costume also horrifies me.

Heres to a good week !

jaz236 · 12/05/2008 08:40

RGPargy · 12/05/2008 08:52
