Anyone else out there with 5 plus stones to lose? Who fancies doing a weekly weigh in with me?

I have got really overweight in the last couple of years and would love to meet some others who might be trying to cut down but not exactly dieting. Where do you start when there is so much to lose? Any tips on evening snacking? TIA

Jaz - well done you!!

Ria - Welcome back, the door's always open here!

KelaH - Nevermind about staying the same. AT least you haven't put any on, unlike me! Sometimes losses or gains can be a week late in coming, so if you're good this week you might not see the benefits until the week after, if that makes sense.

I'm back on track this week, so hopefully i'll actually lose something lol.

Have a nice evening everyone.

triflenorks · 08/05/2008 09:36

Hi panties here this week according to the doctor I way 94kg which I have worked out to be 14st 11. So thats a 3lb loss for me.
While I was there I could see (on the screen) what I weighed 10yrs ago which was 51.7kg or 8st 2. I know feel depressed.

RGPargy · 08/05/2008 09:39

Panties - I would have weighed about 11 or 12 stone 10 years ago too and now i'm 7 stone heavier!! So now i can feel depressed with you!

RiaButterflew · 08/05/2008 12:25

Me too! (The really sad thing is I have a trunk of clothes from then too WTF for I don't know. I could stuff them with straw and make competition scarecrows I suppose)

Have stayed the same this week, I suppose I should be relieved with the Bank holiday and going away for the weekend. Starting again with a passion on Saturday, with DH, when we've eaten all the crappy leftovers. It is about 7 weeks til my sis gets here now and I'm practically the same as I was. Oh well, it's my year to be the fat one.

telfordmum · 08/05/2008 13:09

I am a busy mum, I need know I need to lose weight, I started W W 3 weeks ago, lost 4lbs the 1st week, since then have gained 3!.Any body got any tips on how to stick to adiet, other than looking in the mirror and seeing pictures, as those you can forget easliy.

ChipButty · 08/05/2008 14:52

Talking of too small clothes: I still have my size 10 501s from 14 years ago! I know I'll never get into them again (I really didn't suit size 10, looking back it was too skinny for me - so says the now size 24 woman!!)

Have had a bit of a dodgy start to the week. It's no excuse, but it was the first anniversary of my Dad's death on Tues, so from Monday teatime onwards I just ate and drank wine to make myself feel better (didn't really help!!). Back on track today. Due to the weather I've switched to salad for lunch, instead of soup, trying to have a well-balanced evening meal and only snacking on fruit. We'll see how the weigh in goes next Monday!

Take care, everyone. CB xx

telfordmum · 08/05/2008 15:08

I have clothes from years back too, I comfort eat, but I don't need much of a reason, usual excuse is a bad day in the office, or the sun is shining so outside , sunbed, bottle of wine.
I am going to the smoke for the weekend and a very tasty tea at the posh hotel on sunday so bang goes my good start to the week, still onwards and upwards.
Any one else have any tips ?

jaz236 · 08/05/2008 16:06

oooh is everyone from daaaaaaan sarf then on here??
well ive just had some retail therapy at primark -I do need it! adn its veggie sausages with veg!! and gallons of water after my blackpol inceident!!oh and ive lost my pedometer tday charming!

RiaButterflew · 08/05/2008 17:31

I'm from Oooop North! T'other side to Blackpool though.

Comfort eating is a funny thing, I eat if I feel crap to make me feel better and if I'm on a high I like to have something nice to celebrate

Sorry tohear of your sad anniversary, I had 4 years since my Gran passed away this week too

RGPargy · 09/05/2008 09:15

Hi everyone!

Telfordmum - hello and welcome! The only tips i can give is to re-evaluate everything you put in your mouth. For instance, if you go to pick up a bag of crisps or some chocolate, first work out the points and then try and think of how much "good food" you could eat instead of that crappy little bit of emptiness. For instance, a marsbar might be 5 points (i dont know this, i'm just guessing), but for 5 points you could eat 10 apples (!!), or a huuuuge jacket spud or two chicken breasts or a large box of wafer thin ham..... get the picture?? Think how much fuller you'd be on a spud or some chicken rather than crap. That's the only thing i can think of really. Oh and try to distract yourself from comfort and boredom eating. It's very hard, i know, as i'm the same. At least if you HAVE to boredom eat etc, do it with something low. Breasticks are only 1/2 point each so you could munch out on a few of those if you have the points spare.

Good luck!!!

Off to a garden party today so must try to be good!!!

Enjoy the sunshine ladies!

RGPargy · 09/05/2008 09:15

Oh and i'm from daaahhhhhrrn saaaarf!! Kent, in fact!

triflenorks · 09/05/2008 10:37

I'm from the south too.

KelaH · 09/05/2008 11:32

Me too, in the London area - about to move from Watford to Surrey.

jaz236 · 09/05/2008 12:13

oh i see well im from cheshire.

I was clearing out my wardrobe at 6 this morning as bambino is up aswell, oh my gawd i came across my size 8 trousers, they are tiny and i now back the which was 10 years ago i thought i was fat!!

ChipButty · 09/05/2008 19:40

I'm a Northerner but married to a gorgeous Londoner.

Good day today as I was at work. Salad for lunch and a stir fry for tea, courtesy of DH. Still holding onto an extra pound from the Bank Holiday pizza and wine frenzy!

RGPargy · 09/05/2008 22:25

Semi-bad day today. Had the garden party so i ate:

2 sausages, 2 hotdog rolls, salad, 2 small thin slices of pizza, slice of strawberry roule.

Tonight i've made a curry again, but used natural yoghurt instead of single cream. Having some milkybar buttons now tho.

In my defence tho, i've gone about 7 points under my allowance all week so i should be ok.

KelaH · 10/05/2008 06:17

That doesn't sound too bad RG - did you work out the points? IIRC you have loads of points like me, so if you haven't much in the way of snacks I think you are probably ok.
