I have got really overweight in the last couple of years and would love to meet some others who might be trying to cut down but not exactly dieting. Where do you start when there is so much to lose? Any tips on evening snacking? TIA

Well done Jaz!! A pound is a pound and it all helps doesn't it. You might find that next week you've lost TWO pounds! Keep up the good work.

Ags · 29/04/2008 23:25

Well done Jaz! Keep it up. Some weeks the weight loss does not seem to reflect all the hard work you put in but then it may show up next week. Don't lose heart!

RG, hope you had the couple of slices of pizza! Sounds like you could spare the points and lovely for dh to feel proud!

jaz236 · 30/04/2008 07:38

Awwwwwwwwwwwww thank you sweeties. I know and it does take time. well Ive just had my cup of hot water and lemon and then branflakes and then im off for a very very long walk.

RGPargy · 30/04/2008 08:20

The pizza was lovely! It was Spinoccoli (broccoli and spinach) on thin crust and i had three slices from a 12 inch pizza. The crust was really thin tho and it wasn't dripping in cheese so i'm hoping it wasn't too bad. I also had one jalepeno cream cheese popper and one breaded mozzerella stick followed by one mini donut. I probably went slightly over, but as i have loads of points i'm not overly worried.

Oh and it was DS who bought it, Ags. DS is nearly 18 and has been in and out of work (mostly out) for the past year, which has been doing my head in coz he doesn't make too much effort to find work, IYSWIM.

jaz236 · 30/04/2008 08:50

KelaH · 30/04/2008 12:13

ok, i went out this arvo with a friend of mine who used to do WW - shes says to buy green beans, brocolli, carrots and mushrooms, all fresh, wash and pop in baking tray and put in oven with black pepper and cook for 30 mins, she has that with some chicken and the weight droped off!!

shes now a size 10 and she ate burger and chips and glass of vino, i had salad and fizzy water!! - go figure!

RGPargy · 30/04/2008 21:40

Kelah - well done!!!

Jaz - did your friend have that religiously every single night?? Sounds very boring - no wonder she lost weight. Trouble with doing stuff like that is that you might not be getting all the correct nutrients and it would be so boring that you would probably end up binging on stuff your body craved anyway, rather than just having a little of what you fancy and counting the points for it.

I seriously recommend you DONT do it!

Well i have eaten really well today. My menu was:

2 weetabix and a banana for breakfast

Lunch was Pasta with a slice of french bread and salad, followed by a WW brownie and 2 WW cookies;

Dinner was stir fry vegetables with Thai Chicken breast and noodles.

All that was 19.5 points!!!!

So now i've treated myself to two funsize crunchies (3 points for 2) and a nice glass of beer (2 points).

panties · 30/04/2008 21:51

Hi sussies/Pantiesandsussies here; since last wednesday I have lost 5lb!! I inadvertantly ate some egg (slight allergy) I was so ill. So my loss is a false negative. 17 stone at christmas 15 stone 5 last thursday, 15 stone today! how much will I have put on next week.

panties · 30/04/2008 21:53

BTW an explanation about the names. Around lent I was moaning about wanting a new name. DD wanted to swim the marie curie swimathon and dh wanted to give up choc. Sooo, dh gave me three 'new' names. (sussies, panties and pantiesandsussies ) and said that if I used them he would double what dd raised for her swimathon. I offered her £50 quid if dh gave up chocolate. Sooo, you have to put up with the names and then dd will raise somewhere in the region of a grand. haha dh has had to stump up 500 quid!

RGPargy · 30/04/2008 21:55

Oh, forgot to say welcome to MrsRyder!

Panties - good show re the fund raising!!

Ags · 30/04/2008 23:35

Mrs Ryder, welcome! I have read the India and Nerys diet (what diet haven't i read!). It is basically GI. I have heard fantastic things about this and I wish you all the best with it. Without doubt, if you stick to it, it works. Personally, I need carbs to diet efficiently as I feel too deprived without which is why weight watchers is suiting me.

Kela - well done! What a fantastic result. 11 lbs in 3 weeks is the most amazing start! You must be feeling it?

Jaz, agree a bit with RG. Sounds like a really restricting diet. No wonder she is a size 10. Wonder, now she is back on the burger and chips if it will creep back on?!

Panties, sorry to hear you were not well but 5 lbs is amazing! Hope you manage to keep the worst of it off this week!

KelaH · 01/05/2008 01:41

Thanks guys! I hadn't been amazingly good this week (had stuck to my points but hadn't gone under and hadn't done as much walking), so was only expecting about a lb, so 3 is brilliant!! Haven't noticed much difference in clothes etc yet, but DH says he can see it around my hips etc - says I am getting my waist back. I am very lucky with him actually, as he is constantly telling me that he thinks I am sexy etc, and although he supports me in my dieting, he really doesn't see why I need to lose weight. Although I think he was a bit shocked when I told him tonight that I have put on 4 stone since we got together

My diet tip of the week is bruschetta - make up a topping of tomatoes, onion and peppers (I chop the onions and peppers very finely and fry them in a bit of fry-light as I don't like them raw), season it and add a little olive oil (optional), and keep in the fridge. I then use ready to toast bruscetta slices from Waitrose (but anything similiar would work) which I keep in the freezer, and pop one or two straight in the toaster when I need a snack. Oce toasted, add a generous helping of the topping, (plus some mini mozzarella balls if you have plenty of points), and you have a delicious low point snack!!

bigbellylady · 01/05/2008 06:21

well done on the losses it is fantastic !
I have has a couple of good days after a terrible few days over the weekend. Am I the only person who seems to be 'on' or 'off' a diet ? I really want to just be able to be healthy most of the time.
I really struggled yesterday and had to do some serious thought pattern changing as I soo wanted to eat a big pack of kettle chips in the cupboard. I am really pleased as I overcame it and feel positive that I can do it again.
The training really helps and I feel fitter than I have done for ages.
I think not weighing helps too as I am concentrating on how I feel and conquering my food problems and not how much weight I have lost.
sorry, turned into a long post.

What has happened to those who joined us and have gone quiet? We still want to hear how you are doing even if things not gone too well, we all have bad times with food !!

jaz236 · 01/05/2008 09:36

yes you are all right! there si no easy quick fix on this matter at all - she does though play alot of sports, she has arms like madonna. which look great now, but not when you are old.

Well ive just had porridge with bannana and have been out for long walk, and ive managed to get into my size 14 pants - yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Ags · 01/05/2008 16:53

Well done BBL (I refuse to call you by your name!). That is such an achievement to overcome the kettle chips desire. How did you think your way around them? Or did you distract yourself? I think we all NEED to know!!

bigbellylady · 01/05/2008 17:13

well, I use a thought process diversion I used to teach suicidal people to stop them killing themselves!!
You need to learn recognise the thought patterns that lead to over eating and have an alternative thought pattern planned out, that is the easy bit but doing it is not quite so easy although if you are successful a few times it gets easier. Some people wright cue cards to remind them of their goals to read in difficult times to try to chsnge their behaviour.
After all that I am going out for a few glasses of vino later as my new business got its first job today so I need to get pissed celebrate.

bigbellylady · 01/05/2008 17:15

of course I meant write

jaz236 · 01/05/2008 17:54

jaz236 · 01/05/2008 20:49

Oh my gawd - dont know if you guys have tried it - but putting fruit flavoured yoghurts in the freezer - gorgeous! - i used to eat that ben and jerrys strawberry cheescake one, but before i knew it id have eaten the whole dam tub -

KelaH · 01/05/2008 21:16

Cool idea Jaz. At my meeting yesterday the leader suggested freezing fruit too, like grapes or bananas (sliced) - really nice apparently, I am going to try it, will let you know.

RGPargy · 01/05/2008 21:26

I never knew you could freeze yoghurts??!

jaz236 · 02/05/2008 08:04

I didnt until i think my leader told me this aswell but I had one of those WW yoghurts only half a point and put it in the frezzer and had it last night!

I was on the net last night and it took me ages to eat the yoghurt and i found it satisfying as it felt like i was eating ice-cream.

And im telling you i love my food everything and anything so it does work -
