Losing a couple of kg support thread

GetYourHandOut · 28/04/2024 15:36

I'm blaming the shite weather rather than the biscuits but I'm still in my winter phase and am at the top end of my usual weight range.

I'd like to lose a couple of kg to feel more comfortable and confident as summer (hopefully) approaches.

Does anyone want to join me for a support and accountability thread?

Welcome @SaggyOldClothDog!

everycowandagain · 04/05/2024 12:46

Sounds like a good balanced shake @CheapMustard I might try adding spinach to mine too! I often use frozen berries in mine

Eyesopenwideawake · 04/05/2024 12:58

A late joiner! Currently 64kg, would like to be 60kg. Haven't had a biscuit for 8 weeks (self hypnosis!) but only have half a thyroid and that's mainly nodule so it's tough going...

GetYourHandOut · 04/05/2024 15:36

@CheapMustard thanks! I think cutting out the between meal snacks has been key. My meals are generally balanced, it's the extra snacking that has made my weight creep up a bit.

Welcome @Eyesopenwideawake! The self hypnosis sounds interesting!

GetYourHandOut · 05/05/2024 08:24

I'm posting my updated weight for my own accountability but I'm aware that it's a big drop and probably water.

I need to play the long game in terms of not bouncing back up as I've got a festival in July I want to feel super confident for 💃

SW: 66.3kg
CW: 64.8kg

Welcome @Eyesopenwideawake! The self hypnosis sounds interesting!

It's not difficult; once the part of the subconscious that associates biscuits (or chocolate, etc) with reward/pleasure knows that you no longer want it to trigger that feeling it...stops!

GetYourHandOut · 05/05/2024 09:01

@Eyesopenwideawake sorry, I'm still waking up and I thought that was your progress not your starting point!!!! 🤣

71.1kg this morning!
Would like to get down to around 68/69kg, to give me a bit more of a buffer zone BMI wise.

I am 59kg and aiming for 56kg.

Catmama123 · 05/05/2024 18:02

I'd love to join if that's ok? I will weigh in the morning but also hoping to loose a few kg by summer. I'm not able to get out to a gym but have tried doing some home workouts recently and getting my steps in! X

everycowandagain · 05/05/2024 18:52

Of course @Catmama123, welcome!

My steps were pretty high today, and I am pretty spot on my calories/macros (although I did have to play a bit of macro tetris in nutracheck to make it work!!). I am still focusing on hitting my goals every day and waiting for the magic to happen ✨️

GetYourHandOut · 05/05/2024 19:24

New joiners very welcome 😊

I've eaten way too much today at a family party! But it was all good fun and very enjoyable. I just need to get back to normal eating tomorrow.

Week 1 complete and I am down just over 1lb! I think that includes some water so likely will slow down if I stay at 1850 calories. I don't want to drop my calories too fast though because I aim for consistency above all else and I am doing this till early July so I need to go steadily.

This week I am going to keep my calories the same and aim to get my step count up slightly. Next week I may take 100/day off my calories depending on how quickly I am losing.

So the plan for the week is: tracking everything, hitting calories/macros, getting my gym sessions and steps in, and a good amount of sleep.

I hope everyone enjoys their Bank Holiday Monday!

Thighdentitycrisis · 06/05/2024 11:56

I’m back and weighed in for first time at 60.7 kg today. I’d like to get to 57kg and stay there.

last week I completed week one of Couch to 5k and I have my running days worked out for next week

RamaSita · 06/05/2024 23:16

Room for a slightly late joiner? I've been trying intermittent fasting using an app but I've clearly made up for it in the 'eating window' as would you believe I actually weigh a couple of pounds more now than a month ago. Embarrassed to admit that to be honest. Need to try some different tactics. Tips welcome.
73kg, hoping to lose 3kg for starters and go from there.

notgettinganyyounger · 07/05/2024 04:28

Trying again! Bank hol weekend was a complete blow out foodwise, although lots of walking and gardening took place. I'm about to do 100 squats and take the dogs out. That should kick start me back on track

notgettinganyyounger · 07/05/2024 04:29

@RamaSita welcome!

SaggyOldClothDog · 07/05/2024 09:21

Urgh I'm beginning to think I'm part sponge, based on the rate I seem to be retaining water lately.

Wasnt terribly disciplined over the bank holiday but hopefully being back in work will help. It has to have one upside 🤣.

Morning is off to a good start, rolled out of bed, got a workout in, had protein porridge with berries, nuts and seeds (not low calorie but full of the things all the wellness bods bang on about), won't be far off 10k steps by time I get to the office and have my packed lunch (veg chilli, pitta and hummus).

If only I could keep it up! I always find it easy in the first part of day, but then the wheels fall off in a spectacular manner.

The boredom eating, grazing while I prep tea and not counting everything I pop into my mouth when I'm standing up gets me every time!!

everycowandagain · 07/05/2024 09:37

@SaggyOldClothDog I have the same issue so I arrange my calories so that I have 4 meals a day including one late afternoon to get me to dinner. I eat dinner late (and can't change that) so I have stopped trying to make it from lunchtime to dinner without eating or with only a small snack and now instead I have at least 300 calories late afternoon. It suits me so much better!!

Proteinpud · 07/05/2024 10:15

Another late joiner here! Happy to find this thread as most I've seen have been for people with a lot to lose/long battles and I hadn't wanted to seem insensitive by jumping in to those.

I'm three weeks in to calorie counting/better diet habits. No weight loss so far but am in this for the long game. I'm 61kg and short, I strength train so I do carry a lot more muscle than I used to and would like to keep it, but I would like to slim my waist down. I used to be skinny 'naturally' ie without having to work at it, but I've finally accepted that a more sedentary job and hormonal contraception means that my appetite is greater than I need.

Aiming for around 58kg, but if I can lose a few inches without seeing the scales change much id live with that.

Currently aiming for 1700-1800 calories a day, 120g protein and five portions fruit/veg. I have a terrible sweet tooth so I'm focusing on adding things to my diet and displacing others; if I tell myself not to eat chocolate it's all I think about!

Anyone else use nutracheck? I did the trial and signed up, I was dubious about paying for something I can get free elsewhere but I'm finding it really useful so far.

CheapMustard · 07/05/2024 10:22

Hello @Proteinpud@RamaSita

I’m the chunkier one of the group, but hoping to loose a few kilos for the Summer.
SW 81kg
CW 80kg

I did struggle this weekend. A BBQ and a kids party (cake) + a picnic… I need to think of some better options. But still the scale is down so that’s a win!
Really going for it this week.

If anyone has any great food options or ideas for a chunky, peri-menopausal veggie, they’d be gratefully received!
