Losing a couple of kg support thread

GetYourHandOut · 28/04/2024 15:36

I'm blaming the shite weather rather than the biscuits but I'm still in my winter phase and am at the top end of my usual weight range.

I'd like to lose a couple of kg to feel more comfortable and confident as summer (hopefully) approaches.

Does anyone want to join me for a support and accountability thread?

And the crap weather is back so not sure how I'm going to get my steps in. Its way too muddy to walk in the rain where I am and no hoop yet. Its a hoopless situation 😣

everycowandagain · 14/05/2024 09:08

That's good @GetYourHandOut! I am up a bit but I weigh daily and it's normal, my muscles are sore from a hard gym session. I need to keep at it and focus on the trend. I am still 1kg down in just over 2 weeks.

everycowandagain · 14/05/2024 09:11

The rain isn't helpful @Defrump is it? Can you do an online workout or something? Fitnessblender have loads of good free ones, all kinds of workouts and levels of intensity. I have a walking pad and I will be using that today.

It's still worth keeping your food in check, the extra steps help speed things up but it's mostly about what you eat.

GetYourHandOut · 14/05/2024 09:30

Thanks @everycowandagain I'm a daily weigher too. It's interesting to track the ups and downs, looking at patterns. I always see an uptick on the days after my gym sessions.

52.8 today! And got into size 8 trousers for the first time in years😂

rwa818 · 14/05/2024 12:13

Following for motivation!
I'm creeping up into size 14 clothes which is the biggest I've ever been. I'm only 5'4" with quite a petite frame so that is really too big for me (not saying there's anything wrong with being size 14).
My aim is to be back to a 12 by my summer hols end of July and possibly more like a 10-12 by Christmas!
A close friend died recently from weight related issues so also really aware of needing to improve my health and fitness!
I tend to go by how my clothes fit than weight but I know I need to be a size 10 or smaller to be at a healthy BMI

everycowandagain · 14/05/2024 12:21

Well done @Bumblebee907! Are you at your goal now?

Welcome @rwa818!

Defrump · 15/05/2024 06:41

55.5kg this morning yippee!
No sugar seems to be working. I was doing low carb but dh made pasta and I don't like wasting food so I had it- and a roti last night.
My way of eating has to be sustainable! I'm happy weight is going in the right direction. Goal weight is 54kg.

everycowandagain · 15/05/2024 16:49

Great progress @Defrump!! I can't go super low carb, I am pretty active and it makes me feel horrible, but I think I do naturally eat quite low sugar (apart from before I go to the gym when I hit the fast acting carbs!!).

GetYourHandOut · 15/05/2024 19:01

Well done @Defrump!
I'm totally with you on the sustainability front. That's my mindset too.

Sounds like people are doing well! 🥂. I've been trying to stick to tracking a bit more this week. Some meals are probably more of a guesstimate but hopefully it will make me more mindful of all the incidental snacks that jump into my mouth while I'm distracted 😂.

Having said that, I'm quite stressed with work this week, so the urge to faceplant into some lovely treats is strong...

everycowandagain · 15/05/2024 21:29

Hang in there @SaggyOldClothDog!!

Defrump · 16/05/2024 07:30

Thank you for the encouragement 🙏
I do fear that this is my sticking weight now. I want to tone up my belly. Legs get toned from all the hill walking, arms need work but it's the tum that needs major trimming. Hoop has been ordered, went round the shops yesterday but none in stock anywhere.

SaggyOldClothDog · 16/05/2024 08:41

@everycowandagain I resisted!! I'm working from home today though, so temptation will never be too far away.

Having said that, while a reduction in the amount of sugary crap I consume is the goal long term, I've no burning desire to cut it out completely.

Everyone needs at least one vice, right?! 😂

GetYourHandOut · 18/05/2024 07:34

Morning all.
I'm logging my weight because it's helps my accountability.

SW 66.3kg (29.04.24)
CW 64.4kg

I've had a good week eating-wise. We've got a very social weekend with meals out. But I'm definitely on track to be at my "feeling good" weight for the festival in early July 🪩

I hope everyone is doing ok?

Still at 63.4kg but 'feeling' slimmer IYKWIM? The deadline of getting to 60.45 by next Sunday has, I fear, gone out of the window 😂

everycowandagain · 18/05/2024 08:14

Good progress @GetYourHandOut!

I spent the week feeling like I was getting nowhere but I hit my daily step and calorie goals and finally this morning the scale dropped. Today I am 139.2 pounds, I started at 144 so I have hit my first mini goal of getting under 140 pounds YIPPEE!!

Now am going to push on and aim for my final early July goal of 132 pounds or 59.9kg!! Might switch to kg now :-)

everycowandagain · 18/05/2024 08:15

@Eyesopenwideawake I had that this week too, the scales didn't budge but I felt slimmer. It caught up eventually. And even if you don't get to your goal you will have made some worthwhile progress.

GetYourHandOut · 18/05/2024 09:35

@Eyesopenwideawake I think the most important thing is how you feel, rather than a number on the scale. So if you're feeling good about yourself, that's great!

Congrats @everycowandagain !

Proteinpud · 18/05/2024 18:23

I'm still not at a deficit so I'm not losing (and I've not really tried this week as it's been stressful at work so I'm just being a bit kind to myself) However I went to a class today and an instructor who I haven't seen for a while was asking me about my training, I was a bit confused at first until he said that he said about my arms - he noticed some muscle! So that was nice to see that someone noticed a change in how I look, and that something is happening. I mean, I'd still like to be a little bit leaner so it wasnt mainly hidden, but it's something!

Also weird thing I realised - I've continued tracking my food so I've got data, even if I know I'm not making the best choices. Most of those days I've still hit a similar amount of calories as my 'good' days. Even when I think I'd go over (eg like on Thursday night when I ate a whole pizza to myself, not the best nutrition) I think my appetite is really good at finding maintenance, I thought I'd go way over on days like that.

SaggyOldClothDog · 19/05/2024 08:43

@Proteinpud I'd take those as wins!
I was a little frustrated when I got on the scales this morning. I've been making some small changes and things were moving in the right direction and then I woke up this morning to find I was heavier than I was at the end of last week 🤦.

Overall my average for the week is down 0.3kg (but that's OK, as I've set my calories at at 0.25kg loss) and I know I've not put on 700g of fat overnight but FFS 🤣

@SaggyOldClothDog I had exactly the same! Just keep at it, you will make progress if you stick with it
