Anyone want a weight loss buddy to obsess with?

I need to lose a stone. I can’t be stout any more. I tend to do well with a bit of daily accountability so anyone up for a weight loss buddy to commiserate, support and obsess with?! Starting Monday obvs. 😬

Welcome all! So happy for so many buddies to obsess with! My day:

pasta salad 500
Cereal Bar 150
Broccoli and lentil soup 450
Tea 100

1200 cals
And tbh I’m full. So I don’t need all that food I’ve been shoving in. I think unless it’s a dinner I really fancy or I can tweak to make low calorie I’m going to eat soup. It’s cheap, nutritious, low cal, filling. What’s not to like!

Anyone gave tips on how to manage milk in tea. I’m determined not to sabotage myself with stupid shit like not counting milk this time. I estimated today!

i always count 50mls milk in coffee. I don't add as much but I'd rather over calculate than under

Aileen1992 · 15/04/2024 22:42

Ok so I was quite lazy today but still prepared
Singapore noodle meal 303 cal
chilli beef meal 403 cal
protien bar 204 cal
bikers 77 cal
soft bake bar 120 cal

a little bit hungry now but considering I’ve dropped a lot of calories I expected that!

well done everyone day one complete!

@GreatBritishBeakOff just put your cup on the scales and weigh how much milk you add, then add it to nutracheck. Or pre-measure out 150ml and see how many cups that gets you?

I had 1500 cals yesterday, which was my overnight oats with protein powder and fruit, a portion of leftover curry with a tbsp rice, and for dinner I had leftover chilli, both of those with a steam bag of veg. I had some lentil chips and a piece of cheese , an apple, 3l water, 2 teas and 3 black coffees. I did Caroline girvan day 11 and walked 4.5 miles with the dog. I can do 1500 calories but I find it hard, I get hungry tbh.

Morning, I hope you don’t mind if I join you! I had been hovering around the 9st 2/3lb for years, but I’ve recently started a part time desk job and had 3 skiing trips and I’ve gone up to 9st 7lbs. I know it’s not a lot, but certain clothes feel much tighter and I’d started eating really carelessly.

Started yesterday: had overnight oats, tuna pasta salad and a Thai green chicken curry with lots of veg for dinner. I walked 9km on the treadmill after work.

Up early and going to do a quick stretch & mini workout before shower and work.

Good luck today, everyone!

Hevalison · 16/04/2024 07:52

So yesterdays day was :
16:8 fasting , 4litres of water
Chicken salad - 333 calories
Coffee - 40 calories
Dinner - Homemade bolognaise and linguine with a caramelised red onion flatbread (big dinner as i was doing a lot of exercise after) 852 calories

2 mile walk on lunch
20 minute kettlebell class
50 minutes on the cross trainer

Stepped on the scales this morning just to have a little look and since yesterday:

SW: 11 st 3 (15/04) - heaviest I have ever been at 5 ft 4
CW:10 st 12
GW: 10

I'm sure the loss is the lack of salt and increased water - but this has really spurred me on already!!

We got this guys 🕶

Gottleogear · 16/04/2024 07:56

I ended up 27 cals over my allowance by having a 2 finger Kitkat Caramel but I'm ok with that.

Just back from the gym, did 45mins HIIT and 6.5km on the treadmill.

I'm out for lunch today but will try and choose wisely 😂
I'll have the rest of the soup I made yesterday for dinner and some fruit

Hopefully I'll see some movement on the scales this week 🤞

This thread is really making me focus, so thank you and good luck everyone.....we can do this!

Pinkl · 16/04/2024 08:10

I’d also like to join! I’m hovering just under 11st and would like to lose some and tone up for summer. My longer term goal is to lose around a stone.

Snacking is my issue. The kids are back to school today and I’m hoping getting back into a routine will help me stick to a healthy eating plan.

Dibdobdab · 16/04/2024 09:31

I'd like to join to please. I am currently 69.2kg having lost approx 5kg in the last two months by following a lowish low carb diet and increasing my daily steps. Need to come down to about 55kg so next goal is to come down to 65kg.

Eating pasta and snacking on bread and cheese is my real weakness! joining to hold myself accountable to:

  • Eat half a plate of veg with each meal (I love veg but will often resort to pasta for convenience and because it's comforting)
  • Drink a litre of water a day
  • Walk at least 7000 steps a day (preferably more). Will weigh in on Monday.
Pickingmyselfup · 16/04/2024 10:24

Count me in please. I reckon I have about a stone to lose to get me to my goal (seemingly unachievable) weight.

I'm finding it really hard, I'll do well for ages and then I'll end up ruining it with a day or more of over eating.

I'm generally very active, achieve 15,000 steps at least Monday-Friday, rub 3-4 times a week and weight lift 3 times a week with some cardio tagged on after but it's still tough because I still can't eat as much as I want to even with everything I do.

This is genius! Why didn’t I think of this before?! 15 cals 🥲

Bulking up with veg is great. I’m planning on swapping In cauliflower steaks in my roast tomorrow and cauliflower rice in my curry on Thursday.

So when I see people who have a great relationship with good, they don’t have a fuck it switch. Even if they overeat, they don’t starve themselves or punish with exercise or carry on eating loads. I think this might be key. I do the same.

I'm terrible, I will go fuck it and just go and eat a ton of cheese or go and buy another bottle of wine. It's so easy to overeat but it's not easy to eat at maintainance or below. I can't run if I eat too little and I get very grumpy.

I've done well, after the kids I put on a lot of weight but lost it and kept it off but during lockdown I put it all back again, lost the majority last year but I put on a bit over the second half of last year then lost a bit at the beginning of last year. I would really like to get back to my pre lockdown weight but it's going to be a huge struggle.

I've set myself a target for my 40th in 2 years to be in the best shape possible so we will see.

I most definitely go fuck it lol and eat a lot , my relationship with food is terrible as I am a stress eater .. and I’m stressed 99% of the time! But atleast we know where the problem is and being mindful of it is key I think ! X

notzoe · 16/04/2024 17:32

Hi all :)

I haven’t read the whole thread yet but would love to join you all. Usual story from me - looking to try to lose weight before my summer holiday. I moved house a couple of months ago and decided not to bring my scales but slightly regretting that now! I’m probably between 11.5 and 12 stone. I don’t really have a goal weight since I don’t have scales but just would like to feel slimmer!

My plan is one meal a day. I know some may think this is drastic but as soon as I start eating all I’m thinking about is what I can have next. I started this yesterday and really did find it ok, I had a filling and somewhat nutritious meal (vegetable fajitas) followed by a slice of cake. I’d say under 1200 calories total.

Has anyone else tried this way? I don’t know if it won’t be sustainable long term but surely for a couple of months then I could do a day or two a week to maintain. I did it sort of accidentally years ago and it did work.

Scallops · 16/04/2024 18:59

Hi everyone, I'd also love to join. I've got about 14lbs to lose and have done for ages. As much as I try to limit cals I always rebel by overeating impulsively in the evenings, sometimes throughout the day too.

I have a difficult relationship with food, I understand completely how it started (food deprivation in childhood among other things) but knowing that hasn't fixed it. I eat separately to the dc as they have sensory issues, so it's easy to just snack and eat at random rather than do it properly, even though I really want to.

Anyone else cooking just for themselves and struggling to organise and stick to proper meals? I'm a bit embarrassed about it.

sandyhappypeople · 16/04/2024 19:19

I'd also like to join please! I seem to be heavier then most people here I think, but don't really feel it, apart from when I catch sight of my double chin, no amount of camera angles is getting rid of that so I'm determined this time!!

I used to weigh 20st but then managed to diet down to 12.5 around 10 years ago and was really happy with that weight although was suffering with empty bag boobs and saggy skin, I settled at around 13.5 and was that weight when I fell pregnant, little one is now a toddler and I'm just shy of 17st (!).

SW: 16st 13lb
GW: 13st

I'm going back to the way I lost the weight before, which is drastic calorie restricting for a couple of weeks ( I know it's not advised, but it seems to work for me to quickly cut back hunger ), then after that, only having two meals a day and listening to my body when it tells me I've had enough to eat and stopping before I've finished that meal.. I had it down to a fine art years ago and the weight literally fell off, everyone was amazed, but I've struggled with it ever since moving in with DH and starting a family.

Good luck everyone!

this literally sounds like me , so I 100% get you. I always get to night time and even if I haven’t got much in the house I will binge what I can that is bad!

also had problems with food growing up as my guardian always fed me different to everyone in the household! Think that’s why I enjoy the nice things!

my kids are already fed 3 times during the week so when I get home I just eat something handy which is not in anyway nutritional and full of calories!

So what I’ve decided to do is to prepare for the times where i will have to eat alone and lunches for work and have decided to buy ready meals - healthy ones! That way I know what calories I’m eating and I have no excuse, this can be a little expensive but when it’s just for one it’s not too bad. For example for dinner tonight I had a gym kitchen ready meal, and it was lovely and not expensive £2.50!

also going to batch cook things like chicken curry and freeze portions along with micro rice!

I’ve started using my fitness pal - to keep myself accountable, and I am allowing myself a small treat every day!

its nice to relate, but we can do this!
x

@Pickingmyselfup I seem to do well to start but it's when I'm approaching my goal weight I seem to go fuck it and ruin it all. Then the next 1-2 months I'll put back on everything I lost. Maybe I should put my goal weight much lower and then I might have a better chance at maintaining a weight I'm happy at.
SW 9st 9.2
New GW 8st 7

Well done everyone we're all doing amazing.

Today I've been really good again
Breakfast: salmon, eggs, asparagus and ryvita crisps bread (333 cals)
Snacks: 2 x plums, half a banana and a dozen baby plum tomatoes (131)
Dinner: Homemade king prawn fried rice and split pot yoghurt for dessert. (614)
I've had 3 green teas, 1 glass of pineapple juice (125) and 2.5ls water.

Exercise: T25 Beta Speed.

I do, my daughter also has sensory issues and it's easier sometimes to go along with what she is having rather than cooking two different meals, although I do try and make sure she has fish/meat and veg at least three times a week. I did different meals for us tonight though and I'm going to try at least 2 times a week to cook something different for me. Helped I went shopping last night, easier when you've planned. I just googled healthy meals ideas.

it’s over but it’s okay. Resisted the usual afternoon crap snacking. Totally resonate with what everyone is saying about different meals. The thing is we have different nutritional needs and taste preferences so it’s understandable that we might need to adjust our meals.

@notzoe i used to do 36 hour fasts. It’s how I got to my lowest adult weight. I’m going to work towards that but for now I’m cutting out breakfast to make a 16-18 hour fast. But will definitely look for company to extend when I hit a plateau.

@sandyhappypeople welcome. Absolutely I think that a reset isn’t a bad idea to restrict calories, level out insulin etc. can’t wait to hear how it goes!
