Welcome one and all. Need a few online chums doing the same. No rules. Do it the way it suits and post as often as you like.
I'm currently trying to get from 65.0 kg to 60.kg and losing 1lb or 500g a week. (have come down from 69.1kg). I have a FitBit, and use the Happy Scales app and had planned to up my step count but the incessant rain is not helping. Doing 10 stomach crunches a day from TODAY. (165 cm / 5'5"). Very happy to have your company and steal your ideas and suggestions.

Hello, very late to the party but can I join too, please? I'm another short arse and currently built like a rectangle! I'm usually much more of an egg timer so I think mid life and lifestyle is taking its toll.

5' 1.5" (the half matters!) and ten stones/64kg/140lb. I'd like to get to 9 stone by the end of summer which is my usual heaviest weight and the weight any of my clothes would fit. I've been living in jogging bottoms for the last year and it's not a good look! I've been retraining and neglected my health.

I love running, weight training, and force myself to do yoga. I've been doing these in fits and bursts but want to get back into consistent habits.

I also love healthy food but have been living on sugar binges for this past year, and have just quit refined sugar (hence the username), and I'm on day 4. I hate calorie counting so I will just be trying to eat a home cooked Mediterranean diet and stop eating by 8pm as that's when I go into danger territory.

Looking forward to following everyone's progress!

Well done to those who have lost! Weighed in at 9 stone 8 this morning, not 100% sure of my starting weight as it's fluctuated over the last month but definitely at least a lb lost! Pleased with that considering my only real change so far has been to reduce snacking. I've also managed to stop eating by 7pm, sometimes 6pm, this week meaning I'm achieving a 12-13 fast most nights. Can't cope with any longer while breastfeeding a sleep resistant toddler several times a night!

Gensola · 13/04/2024 13:54

@zebranotzeebra I am trying to stop snacking too - I find morning is easy but I get a period between 4-6pm when I am starving and feel dizzy/ hunger rage. I wonder if it’s a blood sugar issue as it’s so intense. I’ve started this week having a bag of chopped carrot, cucumber and pepper and a green tea instead of starchy bread / crackers etc.

zebranotzeebra · 13/04/2024 14:10

@Gensola that's a good plan, I'm definitely still snacking a bit but like you trying to opt for fruit & veg instead of cheese/crackers/chocolate! The evening was always my worst time, I wasn't hungry but just ate mindlessly. Now I close the kitchen after dinner and just drink a peppermint tea. It's not been difficult at all and I'm annoyed I ate so much crap for so long!!

HoneyMobster · 13/04/2024 15:36

Successful day so far. Best Parkrun time since 2017 and won doubles match with DH against our friends. Loving feeling fit and healthy in the sunshine. Hope I have some energy for the 10l tomorrow though!

Not counting calories today as a TSR the weekend but overnight oats for breakfast and scrambled eggs and ham with sourdough for lunch.

Hiddendoor · 13/04/2024 16:58

Hello!
Not yet caught up on all the posts. But this week I have:
1x yoga class
1x swim
3x row

Monday will be the start of cutting out (down) sugar.

Still not weighed myself. I won't. I'll feel the difference in my clothes.

Goals:

  1. not being out of breath walking up the stairs. I tell myself it's because covid wrecked me in 2021 but the reality is being unfit has had a bigger effect.
  1. Enjoying exercise again
  1. Getting running again.

I know this is primarily a weight loss thread, but if I can lose the 5-10kg I need to, it will help me on the way to meeting those goals.

Sparticle · 13/04/2024 21:24

Hi all - we've had awful weather in the Nw today so I hope some of you actually had some decent spring like weather for a change!

Today has been a good day - got an AF+ dance workout in this morning because I still didn't trust my back for a row and then a wander round town to get some steps in.

I'm sort of doing IF without calling it that - I don't have breakfast but I do have a cup of tea instead and then a cup of coffee mid-morning and I find that that suits me. If ever I feel ravenous I do have a bowl of cereal - I love love cereal - and I don't beat myself up about it.
Lunch was a salad with chickpeas and then Aldi pizza for tea. Having a small beer now.

@Hiddendoor I read the Allen Carr book Good Sugar Bad Sugar and it was excellent. I couldn't quite take the final step though but you may well find it helpful if you're aiming to give up sugar. I'm going to re-read it when I get the chance.

janeljl · 14/04/2024 08:57

Yesterday was not a good day! DH is working away this weekend, DD was being a typical feisty four year old and I wasn't feeling very well so I fell right off the calorie counting wagon 🤦🏼‍♀️ I then ended the day by eating a whole Easter egg 😩

Oh well. Today's a new day, the sun is currently out and my headache has gone.

Starting weight: 9st 6.8
Average weight wk 3: 9st 4.2lb

Beatrixslobber · 14/04/2024 09:33

@janeljl sometimes an Easter egg is needed to save your sanity!

I managed to stick to fast 800 yesterday despite a lunch out (although the food wasn’t exactly amazing). Lots of walking though!

Today I have another lunch out but I’m probably going to be more relaxed as it’s a really nice restaurant.

The sunshine is out so I’m planning a long walk later and making my plans for the gym and runs next week. This coming Monday will be the start of week 2 for me and at the moment I’m 5.5lb down which makes me happy and is giving me a push to continue. I don’t feel that I’m missing out and wanting to eat out of boredom seems to be less of a problem which is something that I really needed to stop.

Gensola · 14/04/2024 09:47

Still 133 today but scales dipped below for a second so hopefully I’ll see 132 tomorrow.
breakfast: skyr, kefir, 10g walnuts, 50g blueberries, 25g protein powder
lunch: out for DH birthday, will choose the fish option and salad/veg, 1 glass white wine and no pudding
dinner: 100g prawns, fennel and orange salad
no snacks to make up for probable hidden calories in lunch.

mondaytosunday · 14/04/2024 10:13

Lost another kilo, so 4.8 in total since Monday. So goal is 5kg more by 30th. Really it only goes to show how much I've got to lose in total. I've lost over 50kg twice before, averaging about a kilo a week which is what I'll be aiming for once my summer holiday is done, and of course it slows down the closer to goal you get. My starting point for those two losses will be my goal weight before my holiday though - quite depressing. I gained about 20kg over the pandemic/lockdowns. Instead of using the time to really shape up I used it to pig out instead! So instead of 50kg to lose it's now more. Plus I was a couple decades younger last time I managed the losses and have had two kids and developed type 1 diabetes since.

StickyStones · 14/04/2024 12:37

It's great to hear how well everyone is doing! I ease off on my diet on the weekend because I don't have the willpower for 7 days a week, it means slower weight loss but better sanity!

I haven't gone completely overboard though, take away last night was sushi and I'd wine on both Friday and Saturday night. Didn't exercise yesterday but I did a 5km today. The scales have gone up but that's usually the way over the weekend and I slowly start to lose it midweek with hopefully a further dip by Friday.

I might make myself some overnight oats for my lunch tomorrow, thanks for the reminder whoever mentioned it 😊

janeljl · 14/04/2024 12:43

Thanks @Beatrixslobber it was definitely needed! And now it won't be staring at me every time I open the cupboard 😂

SpreadHummusNotHate · 14/04/2024 15:26

Everyone is doing so well, some great losses!

Spent most of yesterday driving so didn’t eat much during the day but then had a pizza for dinner and a couple of beers in the sun - still came in under 2000 cals so not a disaster.

Just been on a lovely sunny dog walk and roast dinner is in the oven, all counted for and coming in on target. Finding nutracheck really helpful!

Hope everyone has had a lovely sunny weekend 😎

HoneyMobster · 14/04/2024 15:30

Taking a relaxed approach today and didn't weight in.

Completed my 10k in a really pleasing time of 54.57 - fastest in a really long time. And sunshine was an added bonus along with running with DH and friends. It reminded me why I'm trying to eat better and be fitter - so I can do this kind of stuff.

Will be back on the wagon tomorrow, hoping to maintain from last weight.

sugarbyebye · 14/04/2024 15:30

Scanned myself at the gym this morning - weight 63.3 kg and body fat 32.16%. I'm going to use those as my starting points and try to scan myself once a week at the gym. They have one of those 3d scanners that takes all your measurements and then sends you a disgusting 3d image which I try to avoid looking at! It's useful for tracking measurement changes though, which I find more reliable than the scales.

Fluffywithteeth · 14/04/2024 15:59

Great to hear from everyone . I’ve had a fair few collisions with Easter eggs myself @janeljl ! And well done for being back on it today - that’s what really matters. One Easter egg does not blow up the wagon!

encoruaging to hear how you’re all getting on. As planned I’m off HUEL for the weekend but weirdly looking forward to going back to it tomorrow x

FlutteryButterfly · 14/04/2024 16:25

I'm down 1/4lb this week , right direction I suppose.

Beatrixslobber · 14/04/2024 16:26

Did well at the restaurant and had a mackerel salad but accidentally swallowed a Belgian waffle with caramelised banana and blueberries with vanilla ice cream. I think it’s probably about four day’s worth of food but oh so worth it.

CommeIlFaut · 14/04/2024 17:50

Hello all! I’m a bit late to the party but would love to join.

Reading some of the amazing achievements on this thread is pretty inspirational.

I am 5’4’’ and 64kg. Not technically overweight but heading that way and 5 kg heavier than 4 years ago. I’m slight and every kilo shows.

My problem is that I’ve never needed to think about losing weight before. I had Chron’s all through my twenties so tended to be underweight. Went into spontaneous remission after a baby at 36 and well (abd plumper) ever since. I love food and while I eat well have very little experience of calorie control or any other type of self restraint around food!

Any tips and advice for gentle, deprivation-free weight loss most welcome.

kessiebird · 14/04/2024 21:23

Good weekend for exercise, gym yesterday and 4k run this morning. Yesterday was 2000 cals as I ate out, today a bit better at 1500 but I need to stop the snacking from tomorrow!

mondaytosunday · 14/04/2024 23:44

@Beatrixslobber 🤣

Sparticle · 15/04/2024 07:39

Morning all. Only put on 0.5lb this week which was okay considering. Hope you all have a good day Smile

WhoKnowsWhatToDoWithThis · 15/04/2024 08:18

Morning!

After maintaining and not really getting my head out of the biscuit tin, I'm finally feeling a bit more "together".

I'm definitely not denying myself anything I fancy but just trying to be more mindful about what I actually eat.

SW 04.04.24 - 65.8kg
CW 15.04.24 - 64.9kg
GW - 64kg or just under

HoneyMobster · 15/04/2024 08:48

Pleased to report a slight loss after weekend 'off plan'

SW 11 stone 4 lbs
CW 9 stone 3.8 lbs
GW 9 stone

Most pleasingly my Renpho scales are edging closer to 'green' on body fat and subcutaneous fat. Might even get there this week.
