Welcome one and all. Need a few online chums doing the same. No rules. Do it the way it suits and post as often as you like.
I'm currently trying to get from 65.0 kg to 60.kg and losing 1lb or 500g a week. (have come down from 69.1kg). I have a FitBit, and use the Happy Scales app and had planned to up my step count but the incessant rain is not helping. Doing 10 stomach crunches a day from TODAY. (165 cm / 5'5"). Very happy to have your company and steal your ideas and suggestions.

I’d also like to join please. Have been calorie counting since beginning of the month, aiming for 1700 or less every day. I know that’s not that low but I’m looking at attempting to lost 10kg in 6 months so consistency is key! Saying that there have been several days that I have been a lot lower than that and I have just weighed and have lost 2kg so far however I am off on a mini break today for four nights so some added accountability will help!

will catch up with the thread fully but looking forward to hearing everyone’s successes :)

kessiebird · 12/04/2024 07:20

I've just weighed in and 1lb off, 2lb altogether. It's a step in the right direction. Definitely more focused this week with the accountability of this thread.

@AdventureTravelDreamer i aim for 1200 but seem to need at least 1400 cals unless I am super organised with my meals and aiming for a slow loss of 1lb per week. Enjoy the weekend away I think on 1700 cals you can have a lovely time!

Beatrixslobber · 12/04/2024 07:21

2kg down since Monday. I know it’s probably a lot of water but it’s good to see the scales move and was nice to see when I didn’t want to get up for the gym.

Gensola · 12/04/2024 08:15

post- holiday weigh 136 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 so annoyed with myself, I really thought I had kept it to sensible moderation and would maintain. Shows I have no idea what moderation looks like 😂
gym this morning and on HBD plan for 10 weeks.

janeljl · 12/04/2024 08:56

Well I've certainly been influenced by this thread! I'm going to collect a hula hoop today and have added kiwis to my online shop 😂

I'm hoping the hula hoop will help with my ongoing bad back and core strength. I really want a walking pad but we're saving up for something at the moment so no spare £££.

The kiwis... well hopefully they will help too! 🫢💩😂

SpreadHummusNotHate · 12/04/2024 09:26

Hi, a bit late to the party but I’d like to join too if that’s ok. Saw a hideous picture of myself that was taken last Saturday and diet promptly started Monday 😳

SW - 12st10

TW - 11st7

Aiming to eat around 1600 cals a day and just cut out the snacks/treats every evening. I have a dog so usually getting 10k steps isn’t an issue but I think I probably need to do something more intense as well but just going to try and sort out the food first!!

using nutracheck to track all the calories!

SteggySawUs · 12/04/2024 09:42

I'm back to 11st 10 which was my starting weight on 1st January, I've been heading in the wrong direction but back there now to restart and this time go down!!
Goal weight is 11st. Or maybe even something starting with a 10😱 if I can get past this thing where I lose and gain the same few pounds.
I did the research thing for future health this week. BMI actually fine coz I'm tall, cholesterol ok. But waist measurement well over the recommended 80cm for women. I carry all my weight in rolls on my waist.
You're going to tell me hula hooping is the answer aren't you?!
Any other tips for targeting that area?

StickyStones · 12/04/2024 10:27

It's fantastic to see the thread so busy, I've been on weight loss threads before and I've always found them very motivating, thank you @Mum5net for setting it up!

I'm a solid lb down which is great, I'm not counting calories but I know if i'm getting properly hungry between meals I'm doing something right.

Got out for a short 3km run today and also managed to eat very lightly all day yesterday. I try not to eat after my dinner but I couldn't get to sleep last night because I was so ravenous and I had to get up and have two of those probiotic yoghurt shots.

Before I got out of bed for the yoghurt my very cuddly DH asked if we could spoon and I asked if it had any food on it 😂

Gensola · 12/04/2024 11:54

@StickyStones I have trained my DH not to try cuddling me until he’s brought me a coffee 🤣

Fluffywithteeth · 12/04/2024 13:21

Great to read everyone’s updates - and thank you for the welcome into the group. As another lady said these threads are so motivating so thank you @Mum5net for setting it up. Really appreciated.

am now fully on Huel and my plan is mon-Fri huel and normal in the weekend. Still can’t face weighing myself but did do waist measurement across belly button and 90cm !!! Will see what it says next week

have a lovely weekend everyone! X

PollyPeep · 12/04/2024 13:51

I ate a massive salad for lunch 😀

Mum5net · 12/04/2024 14:14

@mondaytosunday Hats off for doing 3.5kg in 4 days! Even if it is just water weight, just ,Wow! You must be taking ages peeing! Definitely earned that 'marvellous' lasagne and an absolutely fun 'girlie' trip. Definitely think you have earned carrot cake as well. You'll have finished the challenge by Sunday at this rate but I see you are actually doing the challenge twice! Pre and post trip!

Just love hearing what people are doing. It's working as a snacking deterrent as I keep thinking of others on here turning snacks down, so I should, too.
My hooping and stomach crunches aren't doing well but I have a full on house painting/ cleaning/ organising weekend in a place not near any food shops.

Welcome@PollyPeep (46) @Paintedhat (47)@AdventureTravelDreamer (48) @SpreadHummusNotHate (49)

@SteggySawUs Re-set is great news, and welcome to the 'Ring Girls' club', there must be five or six of us now and we can take on the rowers and the gym bunnies in our own tv-watching way!

Well done, everyone. It's so lovely to have this thread.

Does anyone have any top tips for the crazy, intense hunger that you can sometimes get in the day or 2 before your period? I've been doing so well but I am so hungry today! It's genuine hunger (I've got pretty good at being able to identify if it's just 'I quite fancy eating x, y or z' or genuine hunger). I usually do intermittent fasting (16:8 or 18:6) and don't normally feel particularly hungry in my fasting window. But I have had a good lunch (protein & fibre) but still ravenous today!

I've also really upped my exercise over the last couple of weeks and have started weights/strength training for the first time. But I don't want to 'eat back' my exercise calories as I know that won't help with being so short and not many calories to play with!

Bubbleswithsqueak · 12/04/2024 17:02

Dinner at the MIL last night, and I took the top of the pie, and turned down jam roly-poly and cream! 😭Proud though.

Beatrixslobber · 12/04/2024 17:41

@Cherryblossom81 no/low carb definitely seems to help with my hunger.

@Bubbleswithsqueak well done!

Today has been a good day. 851 calories, 2 litres water, 11000 steps and an hour in the gym.

I have two meals out over the weekend which I’ve decided not to be a party pooper about. I’ll enjoy them.

kessiebird · 12/04/2024 19:22

Had a good day. 1400 cals and had a 4k run.

Same with me @Bubbleswithsqueak Out with a friend tomorrow and we always get food. I'll aim for minimal damage and then draw a line under the day!

kessiebird · 12/04/2024 19:30

Think I tagged the wrong person, I meant @Beatrixslobber

Beatrixslobber · 12/04/2024 19:46

We can do this @kessiebird!

HoneyMobster · 12/04/2024 20:13

@Bubbleswithsqueak - good strategy!

@Beatrixslobber - totally agree about enjoying the fun stuff. We had a sneaky bistro lunch today (was WFH) and I had a fabulous halloumi Caesar salad with asparagus and loads of dressing. Thinking about it it was pretty healthy.

Yoga class today and two sets of tennis. I'm down to 9 stone 4 but have various things arranged this weekend that will involve indulgence. Fingers crossed I'm still at the same weight on Monday Cake

Sparticle · 12/04/2024 21:52

Hi all - I'm sorry that I haven't caught up yet on all the posts but I have had a dreadful week. My new job means I'm trying but failing to eat healthily. I've been taken out for posh lunches twice this week - places that don't have salads on the menu. And next week is equally as bad. I mean I love that my new company are quite so welcoming but as I've got a nationwide role, clearly each of the people I'm meeting in the offices around the UK think that the nicest thing is to take me out for lunch!! I am sure that I'll have put on weight this week.

I must up my exercise - this is the only way I'm going to counteract the calorie input. (Obviously I know.) I've also been booked into a super invasive 2 hour Bupa health assessment (apparently it's seen as a perk of the job...) on the 20th May so that's 5 weeks on Monday. I would love to have lost a significant chunk of the 10lb/5kg by then so I need to get my arse into gear.

Doesn't help that on top of the travelling and work lunches, we have a German exchange student coming from Monday for a week so of course we want to give him fish and chips, carvery lunch, pizza etc. Argh!!

mdinbc · 12/04/2024 23:08

Well done all of you! I won't weigh in until Monday. I find once a week is good enough so I don't obsess about it. I have been good with no snacks or alcohol after work, and sticking to my weights/yoga routine, but need more cardio still. It's hard when the weather is crap... poor excuses I know!

Dinners have been healthy with extra veg, and trying to make my carbs better quality. Failed yesterday with pierogi, but I did limit my quantity!
I did make a quinoa, beet and feta salad for this evening.

Have a healthy weekend.

Gensola · 13/04/2024 07:08

133 this morning - some of the previous weigh in must have been water/bloat. This is more what I was hoping for as I had been 132 before our trip.
DH got some amazing news yesterday and we resisted champagne 😇
I am adding in intermittent fasting - does anyone here do this? Going to aim to fast 8pm to 1030/11am.

@mdinbc you’ve reminded me how nice beet salad is, going to make a beet, roast squash and halloumi salad for dinner this eve - I’ll have less halloumi and add some protein to mine.

@Sparticle could you do steak and veg side order or fish and salad at the posh lunch places?

Beatrixslobber · 13/04/2024 07:56

@Sparticle sounds busy but good!
@Gensola I fast 6pm to 11am. If it wasn’t for work and fitting in food I would probably have a smaller eating window but sometimes I might eat at 12 and not again until 5. I use an app called Life which is helpful to record it (and saves twits like me counting on my fingers). It also helps to tell you when you are in keratosis etc but I’ve still not quite got my head around all of that.

WhoKnowsWhatToDoWithThis · 13/04/2024 08:05

Hi all

So motivating to hear about some of the fantastic progress you're making 🙌

I'm still bumbling along. Got back on the scales finally and have maintained, which I'm actually thrilled about. Now I need to stop eating biscuits and just get on with it!

Thanks for the 💩 advice by the way! Everyone was so nice about it. Couldn't ask for a more supportive thread. (I think the ground flax seeds plus probiotics have helped).

spinningpenguin · 13/04/2024 08:16

Well done everyone Grin I am not weighing until Monday but haven't done too bad last few days. I'm averaging around 1400 kcal as if I go any lower I get very very hungry. I'm eating 3 times a day at set times, no snacking in between, just herbal teas/coffee etc but without sugar. Haven't cut any foods out but just trying to eat protein with every meal to avoid hunger. Yesterday went for a 3 hour walk in a forrest and had fish and chips with side of garlic mayo and salad for lunch. Didn't have much for dinner though, just couple of boiled eggs with some spicy cous cous and veg on a side. It's got much warmer and sunnier where I am and that can mean only one thing - Aperol Spritz galore🍹🍊! So far I'm successfully avoiding and opting for kombucha instead 🤣.
