Welcome one and all. Need a few online chums doing the same. No rules. Do it the way it suits and post as often as you like.
I'm currently trying to get from 65.0 kg to 60.kg and losing 1lb or 500g a week. (have come down from 69.1kg). I have a FitBit, and use the Happy Scales app and had planned to up my step count but the incessant rain is not helping. Doing 10 stomach crunches a day from TODAY. (165 cm / 5'5"). Very happy to have your company and steal your ideas and suggestions.

If I can get to 10 stone 9 for my holiday I’ll be thrilled. If I can get to 10 stone 7 I will be over the moon.

Mum5net · 04/06/2024 13:40

@notzoe downliad Happy Scale app. I find it very helpful. I think it was a tenner for a year

There is a free version of Happy Scale. I'm not sure what the paid version adds?

Still maintaining my weight. It bobs up and down a bit but seems to be consistently staying under 8 stone 12 lbs - 2 weeks now 😂

DS2 is home today for the summer from the US - he's at college there. We had a huge Ocado delivery last night to fill the fridge. Hoping I can resist all the temptation!

Sparticle · 05/06/2024 10:01

Ah @HoneyMobster I bet it's lovely to have your DS home?

Got quite stressed about life in general last night so didn't get any exercise done and if we had had some crisps in I'd have devoured the lot but luckily we didn't.

Woke up this morning, did my first rowing workout in 5-6 weeks which has put me in a slightly better frame of mine. Still quite anxious but the sun is shining so at least that helps too.

ElleDeeCB · 05/06/2024 12:53

Hi everyone - I’ve been on holiday for a fortnight and just catching up on this thread. I ate huge amounts of snacks especially Pringles whilst blobbing around by the pool (not actually swimming!) so have put on a few pounds. Also noticed how unfit I am
whilst trying to hike up a few hills. I definitely need to adopt some better habits, and now fully recovered from COVID so no excuses!
Did a weigh-in today and up 4lb since my last post before holidays.

SW: 10.1
CW: 9.12
TW: 9.0

CommeIlFaut · 06/06/2024 10:52

Good morning all. I’m sorry to hear some of you are having stressful time at the moment, and that really doesn’t help when you’re trying to lose weight. But really well done for keeping up motivation in spite of everything (and there’s nothing wrong with the odd bag of crisps🙂)

I just wanted to let you all know that I did it! Seven weeks ago I was 65.5 kg and I wanted to get down to 61 in eight weeks. This morning I measured 60.9 kg! My next target is to get down to 58kg, which was my pre-lockdown weight by the end of the summer.

Intermittent fasting (basically just black coffee for breakfast), completely cutting out snacking between meals and being much more conscious of following a Mediterranean diet has really helped me and these are habits I hope to continue. Have managed to enjoy a square of dark chocolate and a small glass of wine most evenings (I have two days off as I have late night choir rehearsals) and I’ve had a dessert at least once a week, and have eaten out at least once week. I have been swimming three or four times a week and doing yoga or Pilates once a week. I’m not sure what difference the exercise has made to weight loss, but I feel so much better for it.

So it hasn’t been all deprivation and it is so lovely to feel my waistlines fitting again, full of energy and to feel good in the clothes I’m wearing.

notzoe · 06/06/2024 13:48

Thanks for the recommendation, I’ve downloaded Happy Scale and spent a productive ten mins at work inputting all my weights from my Renpho app. I might pay for the pro version as I think the future look could be quite motivating to see where I could be in so many weeks or months time.

Hope you had a lovely holiday @ElleDeeCB. I am like you and will be snacking on holiday for sure, it will be a worth a few lbs gain!

Well done @CommeIlFaut! I had to convert your kg loss into lbs because kg mean nothing to me. You got your 10lbs! I bet you are over the moon. I am hoping for a similar success story myself soon. Do you feel the exercise is changing your body shape at all? I would love to go swimming but feel I need to lose some more first before I’m comfortable in a swimsuit.

notzoe · 06/06/2024 13:50

I’ve just bought the paid version of the app and apparently I could be 10 stone by the first week in September if I behave myself Grin

Mum5net · 06/06/2024 14:11

Ha @CommeIlFaut That's great news. You are sounding marvellous inside and out. I for one will be supporting you in your quest for 58 kg.

I'm on the same mission but stuck at 61.1 kg haha

@notzoe Happy Scale is fun. Mine says I will be 58 kg by July 26th but we all know that's probably not going to happen 😇

CommeIlFaut · 06/06/2024 14:12

Notzoe thank you!

I am not sure that swimming at my stately pace would ever change anyone’s body shape, but I definitely feel better for it and with more energy. A happy byproduct is that I’ve noticed my pelvic floor is much stronger, I no longer seem to wee when I sneeze! My Pilates and yoga teachers are amazing and both look fantastic in their 50s, but for me I’m happy knowing the time just getting a bit more flexible and stronger.

We really do have all shapes and sizes in our pool, and it’s definitely skewed towards older people when I go swimming, which luckily makes me feel a little less self-conscious and I have even bought myself a moderately sexy new Boden swimsuit with a bit of a plunge in the neck!

Thank you! It is not in small part down to this thread. It is lovely to know there are other people out there doing the same thing, with the same little successes and struggles.

ElleDeeCB · 06/06/2024 16:26

Thanks for the friendly reply @notzoe yes I had a great holiday, but it’s also nice to be back though a bit cold.
I am trying to get my meal plans organised now, though it can be a bit tricky as I get a canteen lunch provided at work 4 days per week and never quite know what will be on offer. Usually the vegetarian option is quite carby.

I did Run 1 of Couch to 5k this morning and a bit horrified with how unfit I am just trying to do 60seconds of jogging, so am motivated to work on that!

Ate ff Greek yoghurt and berries at breakfast and a small portion of risotto with lots of veggies at lunch. Unfortunately I started snacking on biscuits this afternoon, but remembered I had trail mix in my bag so swapped to that.

I’d be very grateful to hear of peoples meal plans especially veggie ones (or where meat can be swapped for eg soya mince).

Thanks all!

ElleDeeCB · 06/06/2024 16:28

I accidentally ordered 3 bulbs of fennel in my weekly online shop, if anyone has good ideas for fennel recipes!!

Sparticle · 06/06/2024 18:34

Fennel is nice in a risotto either with fish or, if veggie, with butternut squash.

I've done pretty well the last couple of day and have done three days of fitness plus in a row which I'm chuffed with.

Tomorrow I'm off up to Glasgow for work so I've made some overnight oats to take with me. I'm thinking that might do for lunch but I have no idea what I'll do for dinner given my train is at 5:30 and station places are normally so unhealthy. Any ideas?!

Sparticle · 06/06/2024 18:35

Sorry @ElleDeeCB my first sentence came across quite serious - I didn't mean it to!

I've just finished a HUGE report for work and sent it to my boss. Brain is still in formal writing mode!!

ElleDeeCB · 06/06/2024 19:03

@Sparticle check if there is a M&S Simply Food at the station as you could get something there - salad pots etc. They do a sliced apple and peanut butter snack pot, which is (fairly) healthy. Otherwise Itsu has healthy options if there’s one of those. The calories for all dishes are on their website.

I could bring you something healthy 😉
At Either Central or Queen St there is a
Marks & Spencer who do a £8 for 3 offer on smoked salmon flakes and a box of fresh raspberries. That’s my commuting meal of choice.
