Ten weeks to be more marvellous. Lose 5 kg or 10 lbs by July 1

Welcome one and all. Need a few online chums doing the same. No rules. Do it the way it suits and post as often as you like.
I'm currently trying to get from 65.0 kg to 60.kg and losing 1lb or 500g a week. (have come down from 69.1kg). I have a FitBit, and use the Happy Scales app and had planned to up my step count but the incessant rain is not helping. Doing 10 stomach crunches a day from TODAY. (165 cm / 5'5"). Very happy to have your company and steal your ideas and suggestions.

Morning all. Loving the eggs @Mum5net!

So I'm back home and went out with DH last night for a belated anniversary meal. Ate well to compensate the 1/2 bottle of red wine and 1/2 tub of Pringles 😁 Oh and a few Ferraro rocher

Weighed this morning and I've lost more weight - now down to 9 stone 11.8 which I'm incredibly chuffed with given I've done zero exercise the last few weeks. Need to keep it up though so sticking to tracking on my nutracheck.

I need to scroll up and check my first post with SW and TW but I think I was aiming for 9 stone 6.

Sparticle · 30/05/2024 09:29

And @notzoe you've got this!

Mum5net · 30/05/2024 09:46

@notzoe I've been going around in actual circles for weeks, so don't be too disheartened. I was 61.5 kg on May 9th and it's taken me FOUR weeks to get to 61.1 kg.
However, checking out My Fitness Pal I have officially lost 8 kg since Feb 22nd, so it's definitely a marathon to be more marvellous.
@Sparticle we're not too dissimilar weight wise at the moment as I am 9st 8lbs. (I'm 5' 5* but chasing 18, 000 steps a day so I think your 'take what exercise comes my way' route is more sustainable!)
I'm hoping that when we cross into June I will spontaneously shed more...

notzoe · 30/05/2024 09:49

Thanks both. If anything the weekend has been a real lesson that a little extra here and there really does matter and it’s actually not worth it.

You’re both doing fabulously! Has anyone else got a holiday booked for July? With June being my last full month before going away I am really going to try extra hard this morning.

Mum5net · 30/05/2024 10:00

@notzoe I'm trying to concentrate on the little increments ... so I am drinking two little stubby bottles of beer and not three when I sit down to watch TV, or just two medjool dates instead of three as a snack, and walking up and down an extra flight of stairs just to be more active. I've stuck with 16:8 just to stop me grazing. I'm not especially changing my life, but just being more in charge.
The holiday wardrobe always concentrates the mind... having a just too tight outfit always helps me focus...

Yes I think we are pretty much at the same stage @Mum5net as I'm 5'5" too. I found my first post on here which was at the start of April and I've only lost 3 lbs since then but life has definitely got in the way 😣 Hopefully I'm on the right track now though.

@notzoe I'm not going away until mid-August. California road trip so definitely not a slinky bikini-style holiday but more like shorts and vest tops! I've never liked shorts (never found the style that suits me I suppose) but I would just love to get a proper pair of jeans cut off shorts.

In fact, that has given me the thing to look forward to - losing the weight to get myself a pair of cut offs. 😎

HoneyMobster · 30/05/2024 14:59

Good work people. I'm continuing to maintain just under my target weight of 8 stone 12lbs. Happy Scale is suggesting a 0.5lbs weekly downward trend which is fine. I might let it drift down a little more and then start increasing my calories. Even my target 'skinny' clothes are loose atm.

I've added in some 'extras' (maybe 400 calories ish) and am probably eating about 1600 a day. I don't particularly want to continue counting though, would rather fly blind and keep an eye on my weight.

This is such a weird position to be in!

Mum5net · 30/05/2024 19:38

This is such a weird position to be in!

I don’t think anyone else has reached this stage yet, @HoneyMobster, so you are breaking new ground for us all.
Your discipline and good habits are quite remarkable, and you should be saluted for exuding marvellousness. Seriously, well done. 💛

You're very kind @Mum5net - I've surprised myself this time. As I said a while back, I'm pretty sure my Mum's death at the start of the year triggered something.

It's my birthday tomorrow and I'm off to see Abba Voyage. I'll be wearing my black leather trousers from when I was in my 20s ❤️

notzoe · 30/05/2024 22:31

@Mum5net that is the way to do it. Little changes for sure.

@HoneyMobster you are definitely an inspiration for us. To actually be at goal weight is something you just don’t often hear of. I am not even sure what my goal weight is. I initially thought 10 but you tiny lot are making me think that’s still too heavy. I will see how I feel when I get there (IF!!!)

CommeIlFaut · 31/05/2024 07:22

It’s brilliant to hear of people doing so well on this thread.

Even if it feels like tiny steps, maintaining motivation and not giving up is a huge thing.

I started off at 65.5kg six weeks ago. Yesterday I was 61.05kg. But best of all, clothes are feeling and looking better and I have so much more energy. I’m not just at eating less but eating better, and am swimming 4x a week and trying Pilates once a week, and actually enjoying it.

Off for dinner with DD in london this evening, and we are heading here https://www.hopperslondon.com/soho/ then out with friends for dinner tomorrow. Not sure I’ll lose much this weekend!

I hope to get to 60kg by the time DD and I head to Paris at the end of June and perhaps to 58kg, which is my pre-lockdown weight by the end of the summer.

This thread really is helping me. I can’t thank you all enough.

Official weigh day for me and I did it! I got a 10. 10 stone 13.2. Like I’ve said before it’s been at least 5 years since I was anywhere near this weight.

My goal for my holiday is 10 stone 8 so I need to keep up this pound a week momentum.

Sparticle · 31/05/2024 10:56

Well done @notzoe 😃

HoneyMobster · 01/06/2024 06:17

Great work @notzoe - those milestones are really motivating. Had a lovely birthday yesterday and indulged in alcohol and cake! Abba Voyage was huge fun with the family.

Back on the wagon today and have Pilates and Tennis booked. I'm going to stay off the scales until Monday as I know the alcohol will result in an uptick.

CommeIlFaut · 01/06/2024 12:17

NotZoe well done! It’s brilliant to reach a goal, isn’t it?

CommeIlFaut · 03/06/2024 07:45

Does anyone else always seem to gain weight over the weekend? I get why (wine, dinner out etc.) but it’s a bit depressing to always start the week 0.5kg heavier. I’m down 0.3kg on last Monday though.

notzoe · 03/06/2024 08:13

Thanks for everyone’s kind comments last week on me hitting the tens! Hope you all had a lovely weekend.

@CommeIlFaut yes every weekend without fail I am up a little. Most likely because I do have a takeaway or something over the weekend. Usually by a Tuesday it’s gone and I’m lower than my Friday weight. Unless it’s been a particularly heavy weekend like last weekend. I think comparing your Monday weights like you have done is the way to go for sure because you will still see a downward trend hopefully which will spur you on.

Sparticle · 03/06/2024 09:06

Morning all. Have had a very stressful couple of weeks but have stuck to tracking on nutracheck (even the wine). The battery in my scales has died so I can't weigh today but that isn't a bad thing exactly. 😬

Going to get back into fitness tonight as Apple fitness have lots of 'collections' to follow so I'm going to start the getting back into fitness one.

Mum5net · 03/06/2024 14:46

@CommeIlFaut Hope Hopper was Soho was great! looking to do sometihng similar in two weeks' time
@HoneyMobster Hope Abba concert was all you had hoped!
@Sparticle I sympathise with the stress - I have multiple projects in the air )incl a house sale and a DC trying to buy a house) some of which have already landed badly, then factor a gigantic computer hack which I'm still fixing and changing 86 passwords...
I so want to comfort eat...
However, trying to stay neutral and calm...
@Bubbleswithsqueak @notzoe @StickyStones @Gensola @Itdjgsurchg @FlutteryButterfly Hope you guys all doing fine?

OP posts:
Itdjgsurchg · 03/06/2024 17:10

It’s that time of the month so I’m feeling very heavy and craving rubbish. I haven’t been the best over half term- baking cakes with the kids, going out for lunch etc but on the plus side I have stuck to my exercise routine for 3 full weeks (I’m doing Caroline Girvan’s 6 week iron programme).

I’ve bought digital scales to really keep on track of my weight and I’m going to start taking measurements. I always start off good at the beginning of the week so hoping to keep with it this week…

Sparticle · 03/06/2024 18:13

Oh @Mum5net that sounds far worse than my stress. How are you?

Sparticle · 03/06/2024 18:16

And well done @Itdjgsurchg 🏋️‍♀️

Gensola · 03/06/2024 18:36

@Mum5net sounds super stressful! We are also trying to sell our house and I have no idea why the process in England is so ridiculous.
I am still bouncing around 129-131 but happy enough with that as I’m still not very mobile. Going to try to build up more walks this week but since I have another operation next week I can’t really achieve much.

Mum5net · 04/06/2024 09:34

Thanks all. The house sale is my deceased parents but the buyer has yet to sell theirs so I think we will need to remarket. DC's bid was unsuccessful. My Netflix, DePop were both hacked and being used by others. I had attacks on my Amazon, Outlook, Broadband provider, Linkedin, the list continues. Just a bit of a pile-on in last few days. But no weigh piling on or that really would have been the end, hahaha. I am maintaining at 61.1 kg or thereabouts. @Itdjgsurchg and@Gensola we will all start to show losses soon, I hope...

OP posts:
notzoe · 04/06/2024 13:18

So sorry some of you are going through a stressful time. Anything to do with house buying/selling is just horrendous.

Well done to the losers and maintainers!

I am wondering how much exercise helps? I know it’s 80% diet so just not sure half an hour bouncing around in front of YouTube is even worth doing for me when I have a month to go until my holiday? Any thoughts?

I’ve realised today that I’ve not lost half a stone since I started this at the end of April. A slow loss but it feels maintainable and it feels like I can keep going.
