Right. It's a fresh start for me. I've joined Slimming World for the 5th time back in August of last year. Didn't do too badly up until Christmas but since then I've been dreadful.
Just had my weigh in tonight and had a huge weight again over two weeks - missed weigh in last week. The small amount of weight I have lost since August last year is very quickly creeping back on again and I have to do something about it now.
Tomorrow is my new start. I have my food diary at the ready.

Sorry, meant to add hi and welcome to Haylo

SWlurker · 09/04/2008 13:38

Good luck Toadette, hmm wonder if I should have a red day this week, thats a thought. Especially on friday because then a grilled kebab on the way home is freeee (if I manage not to eat the pitta)

I have made an aazing discovery. Well, not really but if I biy fruit and healthy stuff and keep it on my desk at work, I eat it and not unhealthy stuff!

(yeah I know some people are more advanced in their thinking than me!)

SWlurker · 09/04/2008 13:39

*oops excuse bad spelling, AMAZING and BUY lol!

toadette · 09/04/2008 15:11

Why not give a few red days a try SWlurker. The girl who sat beside me had lost 2.5 stone so far, she was alternating red and green days every week and had lost weight every weigh-in. Meant that she didn't get stuck in a rut eating the same foods every day so found it easy to keep to the plan. I have been virtually vegetarian since I started SW, but I'm looking forward to seeing how a few low carb, high protein red days will affect my weight loss this week. I'm so glad I stayed to class last night, it has helped me get focused again

SWlurker · 09/04/2008 16:26

OK toadette, you're on! might speed things up a bit. Only thing is I have been "nearly vegetarian" for years now, so whenever I have a lot of meat I feel ill and I miss the carbs so badly!! BUT... I saw a thread somewhere about red days done by vegetarians and it was possible, so I'm off to stock up on quorn, tuna, prawns and some meat (Mmm just remembered bacon!) and check which veg aren't allowed on red (I always get confused - is it peas or carrots or something?) might make myself a big pot of superfree stuff to have for dinner tonight and plenty of leftovers for lunch and snacks tomorrow.

Ooh I feel inspired thanks Toadette!

grinningbee · 09/04/2008 16:33

Hi all,

Would you mind if I came back to the fold?

Not sure if anyone remembers me. I joined the happy band back in July last year until mid September when I found out I was expecting. I'd done quite well - had dropped about 35 pounds.

Sadly I lost the baby and went completely off the rails eating wise, so now I need to start again!

Not quite put everything back on yet (all bar about 10 pounds) so I need to kick myself up the bum and get going.

I've just come home from a mega shop, buying all sorts of yummy vegetables (keep repeating that to convince myself that they're yummy!) the old favourite quorn sausages and couscous amongst other things.

Can't wait to catch up and see how much lighter you all are!

Grinningbee

Haylo · 09/04/2008 16:37

Firstly thank you for your welcomes .... well l am back from first class in 5 years or so, my goodness l have some way to go , but going was the just the start, now l need to get organised.

Plan to get kids to bathed and bed by 7.30 tonight, PJs on (thats me not them), TV off, read through books and latest SW mag and write my shopping list for tommorrow afternoon whilst DS is in nursery l can shop for the week. Won the raffle (beginner's luck ) so have breakfast sorted and can make do for lunch.

Breastfeeding advice is for myself with an 8 month weaning DD who l plan to continue feeding until at least a year, one extra HE on top of 2as and 2 bs, probably take it as extra cheese or milk and to use all 15 syns and see how the weight loss goes for a few weeks and then review it.

Well here we go ... forgot to mention l am on one of those 6 week countdown thingies.

Bouncingturtle · 09/04/2008 17:19

Welcome Grinningbee, sorry to hear of your loss

Hope we have all had a good day?

SWlurker · 09/04/2008 18:14

Hi Grinningbee, sorry to hear about your loss too.

a 2 1/2 syns day for me today (well, so far touch wood touch wood!!) - seems to be my optimum for being able to cope whilst saving the rest up for weekend. Spent them on a teeny bit of pesto and an options hot chocolate.

If I actually get away from work tonight I will go to supermarket and buy myself a lot of red friendly veg, and make a stew thing tonight that I can add quorn to for tonight and meat to for tomorrow. looking forward to a red day, just need to make sure I'm prepared with superfree food.

toadette · 09/04/2008 18:19

SWlurker, I think the veg that aren't free on a red day are potatoes, peas, sweetcorn and parsnips, hth , well done for today. So far I have had 1 syn, truly unbelievable chez toadette! I'm saving mine up for an Indian meal out at the weekend, yum.

Hi to grinningbee, sympathies for your loss x

grinningbee · 09/04/2008 18:39

No sorries needed.

It was sad, but we're trying for another one .

So, we're on the up healthwise (dh has been given a good bill of health after stomach cancer last year) and I need to lose lard!

I forgot to mention before that I would like to lose about 7 stone (yikes!!). Just going to focus on one stone at a time and see how it goes.

I'm making the SW burgers for tea with a nice mixture of chopped veg in tinned tomatoes.

I'm looking forward to getting back into the swing of it all again.

toadette · 09/04/2008 19:51

I've just tucked into a scrummy red day dinner. Couldn't find the SW mag with the surf and turf recipe so improvised my own - huge sirloin steak, pan-fried and served with prawns stir-fried in garlic, ginger, chilli, spring onion and coriander with a side of stir-fried pak choi with soy sauce and garlic. All FREE on original day except the oil which I took as an HE 'b'. I missed the glass of wine that I would normally have at dinner but had a large glass of diet coke and ice instead. So maybe these Original days won't be so difficult after all, although don't think the household budget could sustain steak for dinner every night

What's everyone else having?

WallOfSilence · 09/04/2008 20:22

SWLurker, I just read back & saw you maintained, should have read properly in 1st place!!!!!

Welcome back Grinningbee... you need to keep up your strength for all this trying

Hiya Haylo

toadette · 09/04/2008 20:31

Yayy!!! 3lbs, you must be well pleased, WoS

Hope your car is better soon! Btw, are you still studying or is your course finished now?

Bouncingturtle · 09/04/2008 20:51

I did a rice dish, long grain rice with some bacon (3.5 syns worth), sweetcorn, carrots, oregano, rosemary, garlic and chives and a dash of Henderson's relish (similar to Worcestershire sauce). Yum!

WallOfSilence · 09/04/2008 20:54

Yes, still studying! It will be finished in 4 weeks so I'm trying to pull my dissertation together & get all the last bits of c/work handed in.

I was offered a job for when I graduate, so I started doing it the 3 days a week I don't have uni.. I'm well pleased It's for a local paper so I'm only down the road from home & I got a fantastic new c/minder for the kids. They're settling in fantastic!

Dh changed his job too, so everything's different round here.. all struggling to get some kind of routing established, but it's a bit hard to do when I have to go out some week nights to council do's etc...

But we'll get there!! Everybody else seems to manage so I'm sure we will too!

toadette · 09/04/2008 21:10

That all sounds really exciting, WoS, all the best with the dissertation! Are you at the council do's as part of your grad job or have you been elected??!! I'm still career-breaking here, due back next year once dc3 starts school.

BouncingTurtle, your dinner sounds really nice.

WallOfSilence · 09/04/2008 21:27

I'm there to report on them!

LMAO @ the thought of anyone being barmy enough to elect me!!!!

toadette · 09/04/2008 22:07

WoS!

I'm heading to bed soon (to stop me eating anything else today). Might have an Options hot choc now though, don't think there's many syns in those. Must look up my book.

Night all x

SWlurker · 09/04/2008 23:40

Well, I had a veg stew, found quorn fillets on offer (sainsburys, half price in freezer section) so stuck them in it, was a greedy pig used slimming world's free food concept to the max and had seconds, but have enough left for tomorrows lunch and dinner is out, so thats already planned (tuna nicoise), and I have tuna mayo & veg sticks, yoghurt and fuit for snacks, so think I'm prepared.

Closing today at 3 1/2 syns and a tad chuffed with myself for that!

Bouncingturtle · 10/04/2008 05:22

Looks like we all had a good day
I had all my HE and all 15 syns, going to start cutting back on syns and saving them up for Monday as I'm going on a MN meet up and there will be cake of some variety

I forgot to have all my syns yeterday - so only used 2!

have weigh in tonight - I've stuck to it like glue, so hopefully I will have lost! I just feel quite bloated as a) I'm drinking much more but b) I'm polishing away lots of free foods. on the other hand I'm not hungry so not rumaging in cupboards.

I bought some small (for me) dairy milk bars which are 9 syns (so not that small) and am managing to eat half which is 3 chunks and cutting those 3 in half and eating it very slowly. I'm usually a 'stuff it in as fast as you can girl FGS it's chocolate' and before you know it, it's finished. much more enjoyable slowly as I'm actually tasting it.
