Right. It's a fresh start for me. I've joined Slimming World for the 5th time back in August of last year. Didn't do too badly up until Christmas but since then I've been dreadful.
Just had my weigh in tonight and had a huge weight again over two weeks - missed weigh in last week. The small amount of weight I have lost since August last year is very quickly creeping back on again and I have to do something about it now.
Tomorrow is my new start. I have my food diary at the ready.

Can I just do a blatant hijack I have been looking for grinningbee as I was thinking about her and she's only popped up on this thread, hello grinningbee how are you doing?

WallOfSilence · 17/04/2008 22:26

Hi everyone

Thanks for the anniversary wishes We have had a lovely day! You will never guess what my gorgeous dh got me.. (we don't do presents so I nearly died)

he got me a new car!!! A beautiful peugeot 207! Well, he got one out for 24 hours & said if I liked it he would order me one, I love it!!

At least now I don't have to worry about mine dying on me in the middle of nowhere!!

Anyway, enough of my hyperness..

I skived uni today & dh took me out for lunch. We went into this lovely little quite cafe & I asked for a baked potato with beans & cottage cheese.. there were 2 girls behind the counter & one said they didn't have cottage cheese, just hard cheese. The other girl asked if I meant cream cheese & I said if they had it that would be great.. she said she had some in her own bag as she was a member of SW!!

She made me a lovely baked pot with beans & creamed cheese sliced over the top of it & also a rather huge salad piled with pasta, beetroot, cucumber, sweetcorn & egg Was delicious!!

Then we were busy the rest of the day so I have only just sat down & had tea!! I had 2 slices w/meal bread with 1 laughing cow light triangle spread on it, with tomato.

I have pasta on boiling at the minute for lunch tomorrow!!

pizza...

BouncingTurtle · 18/04/2008 08:24

Glad you had a great day WoS! I'm very at your dh's present... what a fab man!
And what a nice lady in the cafe, I find there are few places where you can get cottage cheese for your jacket spud!
I'm well and truly off the wagon, been so bad, so have decided to write this week off coz it's my birthday! I'll probably put a holiday in for next Tuesday, to be honest I probably won't be able to make it anyway as ds has his 3rd set of jabs in the afternoon, and it's the one where they have 3 injections. So he'll want lots and lots of tlc!
I'll try not to go overboard...

SWlurker · 18/04/2008 09:04

Thank you to whoever suggested an omlette last night - I ended up having a mushroom and onion omlette and feeling chuffed with myself for it. (even though it did stick to the bottom of the pan )

Having apple and banana with yoghurt for brekkie again today, but must be careful that I don't get bored of it - think I'll get back to cereal next week, although I really enjoyed the extra HE's to play with. Hmmm... wonder if I can make scrambled eggs in our work microwave? Can anyone suggest anything else to make free breakfasts without using healthy extras

sticktoit · 18/04/2008 10:08

I want a new car!!!

It depends if you are in work or at home for the free brekkie thing I think? When I wasn't in work Mon/Tues I was able to have bacon and eggs or beans with 2 hash browns (1.5 syns each on green). I find that I've used a HEb and HEa for brekkie each day I'm in work.

I need your opinion this morning. I am being dragged out for a curry tonight but really want to stick to the plan. Have chosen a green day based on lots of rice maybe? But what's best to have? I'll save a HEb and just have green day free foods for the rest of today......

SWlurker · 18/04/2008 10:33

somewhere on the website I think they have a takeaway guide - password is cycling, why don't you have a mooch?

I was told a mixed vegetable curry was 10 syns, so you could have that and boiled (is pilau same thing but coloured?)rice - watch out for rice with "bits" in like vegetable rice, I thought I was being dead good when I ordered that but it came greasy - I think they must fry the vegetables into it like egg fried rice!

It might be hard for you to avoid the poppadums for starters, so syn them, but its reasonably easy to only take half of one and nobody notice to moan because you're being boring and dieting! The chopped onion/veg thingy is presumably free, and try the yoghurt based stuff to be relatively low syn dips-wise.

Dry cooked chicken dishes are the healthiest, and if you had one of those with pilau rice that would probably be your best bet, using the chicken as your HEb.

Alternatively I think most places do English food as well, so maybe look and see if they have an omlette you could ask for a salad with instead of chips?

If the worst comes to the worst I'd do a one off and forget SW unlimited portions, and try not to eat everything, only until I was satisfied, therefore minimising any damage, and make sure you're not starving before you go.

Hope you get on ok.

toadette · 18/04/2008 12:01

Happy Birthday, BoucingTurtle

WoS, a new car WOW! Happy anniverasary

Lurker, don't set MMB after me waaaaahh!! I'm on the straight and narrow again, honest Stuck to the rules completely yesterday and been out for a good walk today. Yoghurt for breakfast, either salad or boiled egg and toast for lunch.

Sticktoit, I ate out at an Indian restaurant including drinks last weekend and still managed to lose. Indian isn't too bad on SW compared to other plans like WW where the points are sky high. If you go GREEN, then stick to plain boiled rice FREE, and have something like a veg curry, dhansak or jalfrezi. They're about 9 to 10 syns. I managed to eat just a quarter of a poppadom and stuck to the chopped onion pickle. If RED then tandoori or tikka dishes are best with small portion of boiled rice (HEb). I had some curried spinach last week too as a side dish but shared it with a few others. Enjoy your meal!

sticktoit · 18/04/2008 12:13

Thanks for your advice.

I had a little search on the website and typed in chicken biryani - which is my favourite - it it's 11.5 syns on green and it has the rice already with it, don't know if that includes the sauce or not so may only have a little spoonful of sauce over it so it's not so dry.

I'll try and sneakily push away the naan bread while no-one is looking - they are massive in syns!!! I used to polish off one of them easy with my curry before - and I wonder why I weigh so bloody much!!!

Pinkjenny · 18/04/2008 14:54

Going for an Italian tomorrow night - just tomato based dishes eh?

You know I'll take one look at the menu and order carbonara and choc fudge cake.

WallOfSilence · 18/04/2008 18:01

Hi everyone

Enjoy your indian sticktoit!! It's something I have never tried so can't really afvise you on that front.

Today I had a banana for brekkie, lunch was pasta with a fat free dressing, cucumber & tomato. Also chopped up strawberries with an apple.

Afternoon snack was another banana & dh is making stew for dinner. HEb for the stewing steak then the potatoes, onions & carrots are free. 1 syn for the stock cube between 4 of us.

I have cravings for crisps though....

Furball · 19/04/2008 07:32

Rice is not on HE list if on red, probably Ok as one off but just be aware.

sticktoit · 19/04/2008 09:11

Morning all

So had my curry last night and I've worked out I used about 16.5 syns.......

I was on a green day so had chicken biryani which I had half of the portion and read in the book you could deduct 6 syns if using chicken as a HEb which I did. I had a few chips from the bowl and half a popadum and two spoonfuls of the sauce it comes with. Didn't drink as I was driving. So all in think I was quite controlled. Wasn't bullied to eat more which was good.

Many other temptations on the table but I was pretty good!! Couldn't leave those chips those!

mum2sons · 19/04/2008 11:44

Hi, 1.5lb loss this week and slimmer of the week . My 2nd week so really pleased. Kind of hoped for a bigger loss this week but still going for it.

WallOfSilence · 19/04/2008 15:30

Well done on SOTW

Good for you sticktoit!! It's really hard to reisit temptation when it's in front of you!

I should know, as this morning I made dh & the kids a fry up for brekkie, bacon, sausages, potato bread, pancakes, tomatoes & an egg..... I had half a slice of potato bread as I couldn't resist it

Then had fruit salad!! Now I'm having a very late lunch as I was down at uni most of the day sorting stuff onto disc for my dissertation... still panicking but not as much now that I have some stuff to use!!

Not sure what's for tea tonight, I'm on a green day so any suggestions would be very welcome

nikkid21 · 19/04/2008 17:02

WOS - green day how about a packet of couscous with some peppers and tomatos added to bulk it out. Or the frittata thing on the website?

I'm on a red day so had a portion of homemade shepherd pie topped with swede for luch plus a couple of mini babybel light.

Tonight is spag bol with a tiny (2HE0 portion of pasta and lots of meat sauce (3 syns for my share of the dolmio sauce). I'll probably have some rhubarb with a banana and custard muller light for pud.

Still leaves me with 7 syns and a heA for my milky drink and biccies tonight. I've learnt that if I have a glass of wine i probably won't stop until the bottle has gone so hot chocolate is safer

WallOfSilence · 19/04/2008 18:03

I had a chinese take away!!

Boiled rice [free]

Chicken & veg [HEb for chicken]

And chilli sauce. I halved it with dh so I don't know how many syns would be in the chilli sauce...but I have had no syns on Thur Fri or today so I reckon I'm OK.

Lumley · 20/04/2008 10:34

Hi. Had my first weigh in last thursday and to tell the truth was a tad disappointed. I lost 2 and a half pounds. In the past on my first week I've lost up to 6 pounds. Would anyone like to share their first week weight loss with us.
Lumley

Furball · 20/04/2008 12:23

I only lost slightly more - I lost 3lb, the 2nd week though I lost 3 1/2!

2 1/2lb is still a brilliant loss so don't be disappointed. You're doing it amd it will come off.

kid · 20/04/2008 12:49

Does anyone have the latest PW, I could search back through this thread but thought I would just ask for it again instead!

I am not doing well at all. I keep starting and stopping which is such a bad idea. I have to lose weight as a dress I just ordered is in the next size down. I need to fit into it comfortably in 9 weeks time so I must stick to SW this time.

Even though I am getting desperate, I still won't join the local group. I am going to be exercising every day, even if just for 20 minutes, that has got to be better than no exercise surely?
I am also cutting out chocolate 100%, I won't even be having any in the house just incase my will power is not strong enough.

sticktoit · 20/04/2008 13:39

Hi, I have my first weigh in tomorrow....fingers crossed. Will let u know

sticktoit · 20/04/2008 13:42

Hi all, just a sneaky trip on here as I'm in the middle of a crappy lit review & want junk food!!

I find if I have this thread to keep me going it's not too bad

Today has been OK so far. fruit for breakfast & then dinner was potatoes, roasties made with spray oil, sprouts, cauliflower, brocolli, peas, gravy & chicken. [Green day] So I just haveto syn my gravy.

I ended up having half a bag of popcorn last night too But it wasn't toffee so hopefully OK

sticktoit · 20/04/2008 20:45

Hey all, been on a green day today but started the day on eating two chocolate digestive biscuits so blew it for syns from 7am!

Managed to not have anymore throughout the day and stuck to free foods and my HEs.

Also did an hour and 20 mins in the gym so may have even burnt them off!!

I'm really focused at the moment but I am sooo hoping that I stay this way and not pack it all in in a few weeks and put all the weight back on plus more. I've done it so many times and I've probably ruined my metabolism. Don't know why I do it but sometimes I couldn't give a damn what I eat, when I eat, how much weight I'm putting on or anything! It's ridiculous!! Here's hoping this time is it!

hectich1979 · 20/04/2008 21:47

Hi all please may I join you? I've been lurking on the forum since christmas and following all of your progress but now I need to get my huge butt into gear and get back on plan!I lost 4 stone 3 years ago going to sw class it was a hard but I was so focused but then when I got to target (took about 1 year) I stopped going and have gradually piled 3 stone back on. I'm not wanting to go back to class just yet so am weighing on a friday at boots for 50p which gives me a print out so will keep them to track my progress and let you know. I'll be online most nights so will let u know how its going and keep reading everyody elses progress. Helen x
