Right. It's a fresh start for me. I've joined Slimming World for the 5th time back in August of last year. Didn't do too badly up until Christmas but since then I've been dreadful.
Just had my weigh in tonight and had a huge weight again over two weeks - missed weigh in last week. The small amount of weight I have lost since August last year is very quickly creeping back on again and I have to do something about it now.
Tomorrow is my new start. I have my food diary at the ready.

WOS - dissertation is a nightmare to concentrate for isn't it - I went badly off plan and put on a lot whilst writing it just because I felt the need to eat "brain food" (read prepacked sandwiches and massive bags of chocolate raisins) constantly!! So you have my complete sympathy. Hope it all goes really well for you.

I'm trying to psych myself up for another really good week. I did have a bit of a twilight zone last night - resisted the temptation for fish & chips but then went home and had SW wedges and baked beans with non-HEa cheese, then 2 non-HEb hifi bars so should have had the chips!! Hey ho, twilight zone and all that.

Must have another red day this week. I could do it today, tonight I am eating out and could have steak I will try and keep today day superfree and see.

is everyone else psyched up for a good week?

nikkid21 · 16/04/2008 08:40

well done on the losses.

Should have been my WI last night but I decided to take a second week as holiday. Only came back from Holland on monday night and have spent the whole week eating pancakes and syrup waffle biscuits. Oh and drinking wine every night.
Had a last hurrah chinese takeaway on Monday night and am now back on the SW wagon. I'd like to maintain when I WI nest Tuesday so have to be really good this week to get rid of any gain. I don't keep scales at home so have no idea how much damage i've done.

grinningbee · 16/04/2008 10:48

Morning all!

Brilliant weight losses from last night - well done!

I'm doing the plan on my own, but it was my weigh in this morning, and I've lost 3 3/4 pounds! And it's "star" week too.

I've really missed chocolate/wine/crisps and things, but I was determined not to even have a sniff in my first week.

Now, lets see if I can do it for another week!

toadette · 16/04/2008 11:19

Well done, grinningbee! Wonder who will be our thread's 'slimmer of the week' - looks like you're definitely the favourite so far

Hi to nikkid, good luck this week.

Lurker, I'm up for the challenge again. I think the best thing I did last week was the "do something different" approach. The small changes all added up :

  • I drastically reduced my bread intake, this helped because once I start making toast I could eat slice after slice after slice...
  • I had more alcohol-free days than wino days
  • I exercised more because if I was out walking/running I pushed myself a bit further than normal

Toadette's Declaration for this week

My aim for this week will be to continue making the small positive changes. I will try to adhere to the "If you always do what you've always done, then you'll always get what you've always got" approach as it is not rocket science to work out that for me wine plus bread equals weightGAIN/less wine plus less bread equals weightLOSS

I have planned my meals for today.
RED day
Breakfast - cup of tea yoghurt
Lunch - greek salad with low fat feta (HE A), might throw in some ham too
Dinner - steak with broccoli, roasted asparagus plus portobello mushroom baked with garlic and cheese (HE A)

  • fresh pineapple (thanks, WoS, for superspeed reminder!)
Also going to make a big pot of vegetable soup for snack attacks.
sticktoit · 16/04/2008 12:02

Morning all

Well done on losses - hope I can report a good loss next week! You are all very motivational!

I am trying a green day today. With vegetable rice for lunch and probably tuna pasta for tea!

Can anyone recommend a fairly low syn cereal bar please? I love special k ones but they are 4 syns and I think that's quite a lot. I also love the Go Ahead Forest Fruit yogurt slices but they are 3.5 each!! Shocked at that but there we go.

toadette · 16/04/2008 12:29

Sticktoit, you can buy 'hifi' cereal bars at the meetings and they can be taken as an HE b or 6 syns. Ryvita goodness bars are 3 syns.

Furball · 16/04/2008 12:33

all bran oat and honey bars are nice 5 syns or can be HE

toadette · 16/04/2008 12:34

Good luck with the dissertation, WoS! From experience I know it can be really easy to snack on choccy etc when studying. I used to make endless cups of tea and biccies to have an excuse for a break. But STAY strong and good luck for your weigh in tonight. I'll send you some vibes at 5.45pm

toadette · 16/04/2008 12:35

Xposted, hi furball

SWlurker · 16/04/2008 14:29

I have amazed myself! I am sat here on lunch break munching on... rolled up ham and extra low fat laughing cow light, and mini carrots, sugarsnap peas, runnerbeans and baby sweetcorn veg sticks, so I feel very saintly indeed. have decided that having a red day last week did me no harm at all, so once a week it might be a good boost for my weight loss
(note to self; especially if I have another alcohol related meatball marinara misshap)

toadette · 16/04/2008 17:54

Well done, lurker

SWlurker · 16/04/2008 18:10

Oh forgot to say, the Tesco spicey fresh cous cous is very low - 1.5 syns I think. I I found out about it and then got a pot in to help with midnight munchies!

And Sticktoit, check the website for latest healthy extras - you can have 2 of some cereal bars as a healthy extra. My favourite is the Alpen light ones - They come in 4 flavours, one of which is Chocolate orange

Toadette your dinner sounds yuummy!

Going out for steak in a bit - Mmmm!

sticktoit · 16/04/2008 19:21

Oooh yes I like the Alpen light ones - two as a HEb you say - marvelous!! I've had some wholemeal pasta, a tin of tomatoes with the HEa serving of cheese on top with a brown roll....I even weighed it and cut it to make sure it was only 57g! I am glued to the book mind you - the website is good too but I've not got to grips with it just yet. Took me 30 mins to work something out on the calculator earlier! But once I did it it worked out as free - all good!

I'm finding I'm not hungry at all which is great for me. I was doing the Paul McKenna thing before this which I did find v.good and it does make you think about your food and eat to enjoy what you're eating. But I didn't lose weight for 3 weeks and it really got me down, on the third week I put on a 1lb so that was the last straw I had to do something else - that was obviously not the thing for me. Glad I did it though.

WallOfSilence · 16/04/2008 20:21

Ooh lovely to see so many posts

Well done swLurker I wish I could eat a heart attack sub & still lose weight

I had 1.5lb off I didn't get to stay for class though, as I went after work & dh is on nights & I wanted to spend a wee bit of time with him.

It's our wedding anniversary tomorrow! 10 years I can hardly believe it. I just looked at him earlier & realised he's one of these men that gets better looking as time goes by aaawwww.

Anyway, planning to be very good this week too, I really want to get as much as I can off before summer, I want nice cropped trousers & they don't look that good with a tum hanging out over the top!

My sister goes to a diff class & she had 1/2lb off this week so she was thrilled. MIL was raging though as she had 1lb on.

sticktoit, your pasta sounds nice, but have you thought of adding to it? Just for a bit of flavour? Here's a recipe my dh makes, it's gorgeous.

Heat a pan with spray oil, chop a HEb of bacon into wee bits & cook in bottom of pan, add chopped mushrooms, garlic, onion, peppers, tomatoes, tomato puree, basil, a wee bit of salt & pepper & pour it over the top of boiled pasta. This is so tasty when mixed with pasta & if you like you can add more/different veg. Also top with a HE of lovely stringy mozzerella

BouncingTurtle · 16/04/2008 20:43

Happy anniversary for tomorrow, WoS!

Pretty good day, made curry with rice - with the rice I add tumeric and cardamon pods, and the curry had quorn, chopped tomatoes, potato, onion, swede, turnip, celery and carrot in. I used Oxo Indian stock cubes, which are 1 syn each, just to use them up, but you can use curry powder instead.

SWlurker · 17/04/2008 08:13

happy Anniversary WOS!

Oh dear. Steak last night came with a creamy sauce and fried onion rings. Just couldn't resist both!

Am feeling rather ill today though - don't think I'm used to rich food!

mmm just had a nice thought. banana and custard mullerlight over sugarfree jelly with fresh fruit in it. Low syn (or free?) trifle - got to try that tonight!

toadette · 17/04/2008 15:33

Hi all

I haven't started the new week well at all despite my declaration yesterday

At last minute we decided to take dcs out to PizzaExpress to use up a Times voucher. I had reasoned that I could switch to Green for the day and have a pasta dish. But of course as soon as the menu was opened I couldn't see past the pizzas so ordered a FourSeasons, oops. I kept sneaking bits onto dd and dh's plates but I probably ate between half and a third of it. And a couple of glasses of chianti (and same at home!). Anyway in the end I reckon I used 48 syns! So will treat it as a flexible syns day and cut back over the next few days.

Have been very good today, fruit for breakfast and vegetable soup for lunch. Currently tucking into large bowl of pineapple. Tonight's dinner is the one I had planned to do last night.

Pinkjenny · 17/04/2008 15:45

Does anyone have a very quick red day recipe for tonight - have no time and can only make quick dash to supermarket. Have had all my b boxes so no green.

xx

sticktoit · 17/04/2008 15:48

Mmmm pizza - could really do with a pizza!! Today I have had another 'red' day and have had two sesame ryvitas for lunch (which are 1.5 syns each) some rolled up turkey slices, two slices of corned beef (1 syn each which I only found out after I had eaten them!) and some pineapple cottage cheese. Was yum and I am still full.

Tonight DP is working late so I am going to have some meatballs in tomato and mint sauce in HEb serving of pasta with some veggies chopped into it!

Think I might be getting the hang of this SW lark!!

Although still on week one could be speaking a wee bit too soon! I've been known to do well at these things and jack it all in about 4 months later. Hmmm hoping I don't do it again as soooo want to get rid of this damn weight!

sticktoit · 17/04/2008 15:51

hey pinkjenny

what about a big 3 egg omelette with some ham and turkey, onions, mushrooms, peppers etc. If you have a HEa left some cheese on top and a side salad maybe????

Pinkjenny · 17/04/2008 15:51

Yum - sounds good. Will try that out.

SWlurker · 17/04/2008 18:05

Oops I seem to be back to my old ways "I don't have anything in so will make random concoctions" Was planning on having another red day and kept to fruit and yoghurt this morning, but work was manic, so at lunch I had the only thing I had in - a tin of baked beans. Thought I had some bread but no such luck so I had ryvita with it! I wouldn't recomend the combination

Not sure what I'll have for tea when I eventually do go home and get it. Theres one thing to be said for being madly busy at work, you don't have time to think about food!!

Toadette, Please do the same to me! It is NOT too late to get decent losses this week. COME ON!!!!!! Plan tomorrow's menu. I will go shopping on way home and set some food in so that I can do the same. Lets get some speed foods in and LETS DO IT!!!!!

Furball · 17/04/2008 20:26

lost another 1 1/2 lb so 8 lb in 3 weeks

I'm going well still completely focused.
