Anyone else doing OMAD?

I’ve always been an ‘all or nothing’ type of person. I’ve also always been overweight and at almost 47 with a couple of health wake-ups going on this HAS to be it this time. So I’m doing OMAD (one meal a day). Basically fasting most of the day and eating a decent and well-balanced made from scratch meal each evening. I started on 8th Jan and have lost a decent amount so far. I’m not hungry at all during the day which I find quite odd but won’t complain!

Would be good to share some meal plans etc if there are others in the same boat!

Probably not particularly disguised but ah well! Not had the best week in terms of a loss so wanted to look back and see how far I’d come. Photo in the right taken today. We can do this! Even if it goes wrong sometimes. Little changes add up to big ones! 💪

Thank you! Loss has been slow this week so needed to do something to remind me how well it’s actually going. First photo was a while ago so probably about 4 stone ago. 3 of them since Jan. Still ‘obese’ though 🙈

How are you getting on?

I’m doing okay! I’ve not weighed myself since last week. I lose so slowly, it’s just depressing to see the same weight weeks on end.

Ugh, I know. I’m 12.7 and I my height, that makes me BMi 30. So still obese here too!

Yeah it’s not good is it? 🙈 But again, you’ve come SUCH a long way. We need to remember this. I wish I was 12.7! I’m still trying to get under 13. Not sure I will now till I go back to work and get back on the straight and narrow. I’m a teacher so 2 weeks off now!

@SlimJimmin you look absolutely incredible! Well done!!! Very inspiring.

I had guests all weekend and then 20 for lunch Sunday so I struggled to stay on omad. Back on it today!!!

Hope you all had lovely Easter weekends!

ChipsAreLife · 15/04/2024 16:12

Hey guys, I just wanted to check in to see if anyone's still going?

I'm still doing omad but only 4/5 days a week as life gets in the way! But the last week I've also started to do Keto and have lost 5.5lbs in a week!!! So I'm down 18lbs since mid Jan which is great.

I've got 5 weeks till holiday so hoping to drop 10lbs to get me back in my nice summer clothes!

Hope everyone is well!

SlimJimmin · 15/04/2024 19:30

Yay well done chips!! That’s a fab loss this week! At this rate you’ll easily make it for your hol! ☀️

I’m still here, and still losing albeit very slowly now. I had a couple of biggish events over Easter so had a few times where I ‘had‘ to eat off plan, but am back and have lost all I put on and a little more. I’m. At just over 3 stone loss since 8th Jan so will take it.

The main thing this week is that I have my first blood check since my diabetes diagnosis and I’m DESPERATE to see in improvement. I should have the results by the end of the week-wish me luck! 🍀

OP posts:
HelenHywater · 16/04/2024 08:45

I went off plan over Easter too and put on a couple of kg. But also a time of very high stress so I reckon cortisol had something to do with it.

Had a drs appointment and have high cholesterol which has strengthened my resolve to eat healthily. Back on it this week and nearly back to my pre Easter weight. I did meet up with my ex boyfriend (which was largely a mistake tbh) but he noticed my weight loss and said I looked great!

bahhamburgers · 16/04/2024 10:13

hi all, still plodding on.

No weight loss at all again this month!

Which really pisses me off. I eat like a saint. No processed food, no sugar, no crap at all. Meat/veg/kefir/some nuts (like 10 almonds a day). Just water and green tea, no alcohol, no seed oils.

I’m still obese. BMI is 30. You think I would see a shift. It really gets me down.

bahhamburgers · 16/04/2024 10:15

Cortisol is interesting. My life is constant stress. Back at the hospital this week to see how my going slowly blind thing is progressing, along with a heap of other things out of my control but that only I can deal with.

HelenHywater · 16/04/2024 13:14

Well I tracked everything over the last few weeks @bahhamburgers and put on at least 2kg despite eating well and sticking to OMAD (apart from one blimmin' day on Easter Sunday). Same over the last few months. I've had immense stress and have been signed off work with burnout for a month. The weight has dropped off since I've been at home (eating the same). I did some reading about cortisol and I think it's a bigger issue for peri/menopausal women (which I am). Excess cortisol can lead to extra weight/fat around the mid-section.

I'm doing far less (moving wise) now and weight is coming off.

I wish I could be signed off my problems for a while 😭

I am so glad you’ve had the space you needed from work.

ChipsAreLife · 21/04/2024 09:25

@SlimJimmin you've done so well! I hope the results showed that but if not give it time. You're absolutely smashing it.

@HelenHywater yes to the ex noticing! Bet that felt amazing? How are you doing this week?

@bahhamburgers how frustrating. That's so hard. Any movement this week on scales?

I had a good week and still doing Keto and no booze. However my period is coming and I have one day where I just need to eat sugar so that was yesterday. But I've scratched the itch and I'm back on it today.

I'm 19lbs down since mid Jan. just over 4 weeks till holiday so really hoping for 8-10lbs off if I can really keep with Keto. Need to up my exercise as I've been struggling with time for it with 3 little kids!

Hope you all had a good weekend

bahhamburgers · 21/04/2024 09:53

On 21st March I was 12.7

Today, 21st April, I am 12.6.2

8 oz in 4 weeks.

I’m getting seriously disappointed. however my BMI is now now 29.9, so today, I just saw “overweight” pop up instead of “obese” so yay 🫠🫠

That’s yet another month after 3 years of No processed food, no sugar, no alcohol. Very few carbs and only carbs from veg and nuts and the occasional home made hummus and daal. No over eating. Just meat, veg, Greek yogurts, some nuts.

bahhamburgers · 21/04/2024 10:26

I tell you what though, I’ll be the last one standing come the apocalypse.

The rest of the world will have starved to death, and I be standing in some looted out Boots, on a pair of scales still cursing my BMI.

SlimJimmin · 25/05/2024 21:35

Helloooo! Is anyone still around? I know I’m the worst OP ever but I’m still here, still plugging on…!

How are you all doing? @bahhamburgers How are you? I know you were feeling deflated but are you keeping going? My weight loss has slowed hugely but I’m still keeping on keeping on. I’ve lost almost 4 stone now and THINK my bloods should be ok still. I’m still doing OMAD but have had a couple of days where I haven’t for my son’s 18th and a couple of other occasions. I’m happy with how it’s going. I’m in no huge rush but do still want to get at least another stone off really.

I’ll add a photo from today soon, hopefully you’ll see some difference since the last one (not sure actually but maybe a little).

Really hope you’re all still here and going ok!

Hiya @SlimJimmin You are doing fabulously!!! 4 stone off and those amazing pics... look forward to the next one. Taking it more gently now is no bad thing as the biggest long-term challenge is not going to be losing that last stone but establishing your way of eating for life, and maintaining the loss... Totally in the same place and working on this myself at the mo!

Im still IF but no longer OMADing. Tough times emotionally and I'm doing 16:8 most days, with the occasional 3-5 hour eating window. I'm just 6lbs off my target weight (having lost 2.5 stone recently, and down 4.5 stone from highest weight) and am looking to stay here through the summer, hoping for an easier autumn when I'll lose the final pounds.

OMAD will always be in my arsenal - I've always envisaged that once Im at my target weight, I'll OMAD one day a week to help keep me there.

SlimJimmin · 15/06/2024 19:49

Thank you @loveyouradvice! sorry to hear things have been tough for you emotionally. You’re doing so well though too! Amazing work!! 🌟

So here’s my most recent pic. I’m still doing well. Decided I wanted to lose a little more so still have just over a stone to go but am happy with where I am at the moment. I’m buying too many clothes, but other than that all is good! 😂

Hi all, how are you getting on OP? And how’s everyone else getting on?

I’d like to join you please on OMAD. I’m starting today at 15 stone. One thing though, I’m going to allow myself cups of tea throughout the day with a splash of milk and of course lots of water.

Likes others have said, I don’t tend to start feeling hungry until I’ve woken my stomach up by eating so hopefully this can work. Tonight I’m making us a spag bol.

loveyouradvice · 24/06/2024 12:23

Sounds good @Pinkycloud and if a tiny splash of milk works for you, that's the way to go....

Congrats @SlimJimmin looking - and sounding - good - and thank you for kind words

I'm going to stick to 16:8 and around 1400 calories through the summer - it feels so nourishing at a time when things aren't easy and my goal is just to maintain my weight or lose slowly and then I've just 6lbs to go in the autumn (or less).

I've always loved OMAD - it makes me feel full and satisfied and the weight loss was hugely satisfying too... suited me brilliantly for that stage of my life and I imagine myself doing the odd day when I want to, or if my weight shoots up again.... NOT MY PLAN: I'm hoping this is my WOE for life, with final weight achieved and maintained from the autumn

yesiatethesweets · 07/08/2024 12:53

I have been well and truly inspired by you all! Today is the first day of OMAD for me. I lost 3 stone last year after a health scare and then put it all back on again! Like seriously! Why do I do this to myself. I have no control and it's either all or nothing for me. I've never been someone who can have just one out of the packet, I'm eating he whole blooming packet!

So today is the start of me taking back control. One meal a day in the evening with family and hopefully the start of reversing all the damage I've done over the last year.

Wish me luck!

MrsTaytodarling · 08/08/2024 11:36

Hi everyone can I join you? Really encouraging to see how well everyone is doing. Started omad 10 days ago....apparantly only a lb down 🙄. Do you all stick to low carb? That may be my problem, eg had 2 baked potato's yesterday with my dinner

recklessgran · 10/08/2024 19:12

Hi everyone, please may I join you? I've started OMAD today. This is a last ditch attempt for me. I've realised that constant snacking is my problem and the biggest cause of my constant dieting self sabotage. So, I'm starting today at the heaviest I've ever been - a whopping 15st 2lbs. I guess it doesn't help that I am quite old at 68, and have an underactive thyroid for which I am on thyroxine. Those two things, along with the fact that I hate exercise have also contributed to the current state of affairs. I'm hoping that OMAD will work as obviously there will be no snacking going on so for the first week I'm not worrying about whether or not my one meal is especially healthy but will just try to stick to that.

Accbabymom1994 · 28/08/2024 23:33
