If you have a bit more to lose and will be doing this for a while and want a nice supportive crowd to hang out with while you're at it this might be the thread for you.

First weigh in! Calorie tracking for a week, some “treats”(like a Greggs sausage roll on Saturday) but within “budget”, couple of gym classes (building up to 3-4 a week)

3lbs loss

Start weight: 14st4
Current: 14st1

OldBeyondMyYears · 15/01/2024 07:11

Can I join please? I'd love to lose 5stine (or more!) but 5 would be amazing!!

I started on 2nd Jan with MFP:

SW: 16st 1
CW: 15st 8
TW: 10st 7

I'm 59 and since the menopause started I've gained 3 stone and struggled to shift it. Prior to this I could lose weight really easy once I put my mind to it. 10 years ago I weighed 10st 2 so I'm pretty horrified at myself if I'm honest!

OldBeyondMyYears · 15/01/2024 07:11

*stone 🤦‍♀️🤣

Bumblebeebum23 · 15/01/2024 07:40

Well done to everyone who has shared their losses this week! Amazing progress 👏

1.5lbs for me this week and back into the 12st bracket

Next mini goal is 3st lost

SW: 15st 9lbs (June)
CW: 12st 12.5lbs
TW: 10st

Penguinpairs · 15/01/2024 08:08

Sw 15st 5
CW 15st 1
TW 10st 9

Only a pound of this week. I had a moment of disappointment as I was hoping for more but have had a good talk with myself and 1lb off is not maintaining and it's not gaining. I did try to keep on it yesterday and only had one meal but it was a roast dinner- but mainly veg- and a very small cookie. Still feeling full now.

Thank you everyone who posts their losses. You all keep me going

EnglishGirlApproximately · 15/01/2024 08:09

First weigh in for me
SW 226 lb
TW 224 lb

Happy with a 2lb loss as I'm aiming for slow and steady without drastic changes to my diet as I know that sets me up to fail. Achieved this largely by less snacking and balancing my meals to be more veg heavy.

Well done everyone on your losses 💪

PotatoFan · 15/01/2024 08:22

SW: 19st10
W1: 19st4
W2: 19st1
GW: 14st10

Bit disappointed as I’ve basically been the same weight since Tuesday but still pleased it’s a loss and hopefully I’ve got a head start on week 3

PotatoFan · 15/01/2024 08:23

Well done on all the losses this week, looks like week 2 is a hard week all round so these 1-2 pound losses are great

Thinkingthin · 15/01/2024 08:45

Good morning All!
I hope last week was ok. Well done on the loses so far!
I’ve found carbzone tortilla wraps and the new Freja bone broth to be my saviour. I’ve moved to 6hr eating window. Might decrease it as my appetite decreases.
I’ve noticed this week:

  • the feelings of what is hunger and what is probably a blood sugar drop.
  • my mood is more levelled
  • Normal bread now smells like the sweetest cake and I just want to piles and piled of toast, BUT NO! 😂
  • A pair of trousers fit me for the first time since before I had my baby.
SW: 303.4lbs (04/01/23) CW: 285.8lbs Loss this week: 9.8lbs. TW: 198lbs

Step by step. Keep going ❤️

OkyDoke · 15/01/2024 08:47

A little loss for me!

SW: 217.4
CW: 212.6

Can't remember what my goal weigh was, but hoping to get below 210 this week! I did manage 10000 steps on average every day last week, when my average before was 7-8000 so happy with that.

owlyboo · 15/01/2024 08:56

Well done to everyone on their losses so far!

Weigh day for me tomorrow.

I'm a little disappointed that some people feel the need to come on these types of threads to be negative. I feel thumpers mothers advice can come in here 😂 have a great week everyone!

RunningKatie · 15/01/2024 09:03

Everyone is doing so well, I'm disappointed to have stayed the same but I've been doing soul searching and I know why. I also feel very under the weather so that's not helping.
Fresh head on this morning, writing it all down and hiding all the leftover festive alcohol. More water and a lot less mindless snacking is my goal today (and every day after).

Scrabblingaround · 15/01/2024 09:30

Hello!

I've kept on track, reading all your posts on here has really help keep me focused so thankyou all.

I'm doing waist measurements rather than weighing. Aiming to loose ten inches to start. 17 inches to the ultimate goal.

Ive lost two inches this week, a total of three inches lost in total.

I've made myself a chart to colour in the inches as they come off so I can see it happen which is helping too - like an old blue Peter totaliser!

Turefu · 15/01/2024 09:55

Hello! I was afraid to weigh myself today, as I was a bit naughty over the weekend, as DH had a birthday ( no alkohol though: Dry January). I kept my diet and workouts within the weekdays. Results : 84.4kg. 0.7kg less then the last weighting. I’m very pleased. I’m keeping a good work!

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 15/01/2024 10:12

omg well done everyone, fabulous losses.

@Oganesson118 Well done on your loss! Nice mini goal for you to aim for to get past the 14st mark and into the 13's.

@OldBeyondMyYears Absolutely more the merrier. I think you should fit right in. It's all about getting healthier in a supportive environment and making long term changes. Well done on your losses so far.

Nice losses @Penguinpairs & @Bumblebeebum23 Cheers to getting back into the 12's!!🍾

Nice loss @EnglishGirlApproximately sounds like a great attitude.

Completely agree @PotatoFan Every pound / kilo of fat burnt is its own little victory. Splendid work on your loss and the 19st mark is tantalisingly close!

Don't any of you ever feel down about your loss because someone else's was bigger this week. It's the trend, and how the trend compares with YOUR goals that matters.

OMG @Thinkingthin I love it when you get a NSV like your trousers fitting too! It allows you to really see the impact the changes are having on your body. One thing I will share from painful previous experience. When the scales drop a lot in one week, it feels fabulous, and it should. It shows you are doing everything right. But bigger bodies fluctuate more in weight than smaller ones do and a big loss might be followed by a maintain or even gain whilst the rate of fat being burnt remains completely consistent. The trend is always the thing to watch out for. But 9.8lbs! you must feel like a million bucks!

Well done on your steps @OkyDoke impressive!

@RunningKatie new week new start. I think that's a great idea as I know I find it really helpful to write down what I eat as it makes me think about whether I really should be eating something.

@Scrabblingaround I LOVE a good colour in chart!

Nice work @Turefu !! It's a marathon not a sprint so having a day or two where you 'let' yourself have your maintenance calories and create the deficit on the other days can be a really good plan for some people.

It's called zig zag dieting - say your target calories were 1300 per day you can give yourself different targets for the different days e.g. mon-fri 1100 sat & sun 1800.

I find this really helps with having a social/normal life because I can give myself more calories on a day if I'm planning to go out for a coffee with my daughter.

SW (3/7/23) 150kg

Total loss so far 2.9kg against target 2.5kg => 0.4kg ahead

Target range (end of wk 26)
98kg => 52 kg in 52 weeks, which is also 4 stone lost in this 26 week period.
92kg => 5 stone lost in this 26 week period.
86kg => 10 stone lost in 52 weeks.

I’m 2kg (just under 4.5lbs) down this week.

Very pleased with that. It’s been the biggest jump in a while.

I’m definitely noticing the difference menstrual cycle has on weight loss for me.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 15/01/2024 11:33

Nice work @BusinessSecretsOfThePharaoh well done on your loss.

Morred · 15/01/2024 11:33

Well done everyone on your losses! Awesome work.

SW: 95.5kg
CW: 94.1kg
GW: 75kg

I did dip into the 93kgs range last week, but I had a couple of drinks and saltier food over the weekend (though still within calorie budget) so might be holding on to some water weight today. Hope to see myself at 93.something next weigh-in!

Thanks to @stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk for dealing with all the questions too!

Gabriella83 · 15/01/2024 11:37

Well done everyone! It's so inspiring to see everyone getting such positive results. Hope you all have a good week. Keep up the good work!

RedBoxWithABow · 15/01/2024 11:43

Meh week. o.3kg loss - trying to not let it demotivate me because its still a loss but for some reason, these first two weeks have been slower than ever before in terms of weight loss for me.

SW: 117kg
CW: 90.7kg
GW: 65kg

In total 1.3kg lost since January 1st. Well, I won't let it demoralize me! As planned I started exercising today: 20 min bike ride, 20 min kettlebell training and today also marks my 2 week sugarless challenge - lets see how it goes.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 15/01/2024 11:44

Well done @Morred I'm sure you'll see those 93 numbers again this week.

OP posts:
stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 15/01/2024 12:59

@RedBoxWithABow trying to not let it demotivate me because its still a loss I know it's so hard to deal with when the changes you see at the scales don't feel like they reflect the amount of effort / work you've put in but please don't let it get you down.

You've lost such a lot of weight already so you're clearly disciplined and motivated but I was wondering whether your disappointment might be because you were losing weight slower than before. If that's the case the problem might be that because you've already lost quite a bit of weight your total daily energy expenditure (tdee) has dropped.

Hypothetically a 40yo woman who weighs 117 kg and is doing moderate exercise will have a tdee of 2850 calories, BUT the same woman after she dropped to 90kg would have a tdee of 2400 so even if she was eating just as well and was working just as hard at the gym she would now lose 0.5kg a week less than she had been doing.

Focus on the positive, you are creating a calorie deficit and burning fat, you are in control or what you eat.

Can I join, please? I’ve downloaded My Fitness Pal for calorie counting and I’ve weighed myself this morning so in theory I’m all set!
