Starting a thread for the carnivores out there :D I feel the whole weight loss chat has been taken over by people taking all those different shots that are so expensive!!

I started the carnivore diet 10 days ago and its the first time ive actually lost weight properly and feel great! Ive tried every diet i remember and they all made me starving and eat way too much but this is amazing!! so far ive lost 1lb a day last 10 days basically.

Starting weight: 90kg
Current weight: 87kg
Goal weight: 63ish kg

Diet:
Breakfast 9.30am - 3 Poached eggs with 1 bottle of water ( yes that's all as i never used to have breakfast so its a big change for me and eating too much this early will make me feel sick so i eat them very slowly)
Lunch 12:30am - 1Large rump steak and 1 bottle of water
Dinner 4.30pm- 1 large rump Steak or fatty Beef of any kind, 2 poached eggs and 2 bottles of water
Calorie total ( around 1300 calories if not using butter or oil but i don't calorie count)

Everyday Workouts: Everyday i do the couch to 5k but i'm a beginner so mostly i do half of it then i do 10 minute "growwithjo" workout fromyoutube and then ive just started 5 minute Kettlebell workout. On the weekends i may miss a workout due to kids being home but i still try to at least do either my growwithjo or kettlebell workout.

Would love to find a buddy :)

this sounds like my worst nightmare of a diet

an rather expensive

and my word…. you’re going to need to take a laxative pretty soon!

whyamiawakestill · 08/12/2023 12:24

So is it keto? Or just meat and eggs?

No veggies or anything else? Sorry I haven't heard of this one before, so just curious.

That's sounds like a cholesterol nightmare!

Parentofeanda · 08/12/2023 12:34

@contactus Actually no its not expensive, my steaks are £4 each ( bought as a deal) and before i was eating half a pack of chicken and veggies for dinner which came to around £6 per meal. Also i used to have really bad bowels but this week ive gone in the morning every morning like clockwork and is finally completely normal whereas usually it takes me a while! Im just so shocked.

@whyamiawakestill It would get you into ketosis yeah as its a zero carb diet. I also drink coconut water everyday as well as the normal water

no veggies no, i hadnt thought about doing this at all but my uncles a dr and nutritionist and hes been on the carnivore diet for years ( about 7 years now) and i always thought he was super strange as he used to just eat tons of red meat but hes also the most healthy person i know so figured id try.

OP posts:
Parentofeanda · 08/12/2023 12:39

@contactus Also my breakfast is 50p a day as its just eggs, also no snacking like i used to do :D my whole diet comes to £63 a week not counting extras such as my coconut water and the fact i only drink bottled water.

PossumintheHouse · 08/12/2023 12:41

This is basically a version of the Keto diet, so you’d actually do yourself a favour and lose more weight if you cooked in oil or butter.

A small glass of coconut water is also OK on the Keto diet, good for your electrolytes.

Parentofeanda · 08/12/2023 12:45

@PossumintheHouse the only reason i dont do it is because oil makes me feel ill ( always has) and i don't use butter as i try to avoid all dairy as well as gluten x

OP posts:
Parentofeanda · 08/12/2023 12:46

@PossumintheHouse Also thank you :D Yeah i have a small glass a day mostly as ive always find it fights of my cravings really well and keeps me feeling really energised, tend to drink it before my big workout

I do exactly the same - Keto diet with a small daily glass of coconut water. I do also eat a lot of leafy greens though, a good idea to avoid any toilet issues!

PossumintheHouse · 08/12/2023 12:49

Also, on your diet it’s a good idea to eat chicken thighs. A tasty, cheap cut that will keep your fat levels high.

Parentofeanda · 08/12/2023 12:53

@PossumintheHouse Thank you for the tips !! :D Soooo i've had bowel issues for years ( ibs) And what ive done is i have 1 double espresso a day ... makes me go desperately within 5 minutes although so far this week ive actually skipped my espresso most days as ive gone before the usual time😂

Thank you for the chicken tip, i'm not a fan of meat on bones but happy to try things :D

Oh i also make my own ginger and Apple cider vinegar shots, i actually like how they taste! need to make some more but they always helped with digestion and toileting

whyamiawakestill · 08/12/2023 12:56

Sounds really interesting, will you keep it long term do you think?

Parentofeanda · 08/12/2023 13:00

@whyamiawakestill I think so, its the easiest diet ive been on as im loving the food and its super quick to make compares to the meals i was making which is great as i have a busy lifestyle and im also LOVING the workouts. I am just keeping my mind on doing what i can right now and enjoying the journey : ) I definitely feel the difference, zero cravings now and actually craving water and meat. also fuller much quicker and not as hungry anymore

Do you worry about not eating your five a day?
I eat a lot of white meat/fish/eggs with veg and fruit and give gone from 89kg to 72kg since mid July.

whyamiawakestill · 08/12/2023 13:05

I need to drop 10kg, put on after surgery and lack of exercise but I've just signed up to work with a nutritionist, so interested to hear other success stories.

I've done keto previously and weigh trained but that kind of diet sounds great, in theory.

I just need a kick up the bum and store my excuses and wine!

Do carnivores drink wine?

Don’t worry, you can get boneless thighs. They’re just a wee bit more expensive.

Parentofeanda · 08/12/2023 13:10

@Christmasss Nope, most people dont get 5 a day i never have and havent ever had a problem, i once did do a diet that got me the 5 a day +more and i felt rubbish, bloated and full constantly and sluggish x

@whyamiawakestill try it and find out :d i can see why it may not work for everyone BUT so far its the only thing thats working for me after coming off slimming world and WW. Not sure about wine hahaha

Unabletomitigate · 08/12/2023 13:19

Hello there!
I eat a similar way myself, and also find it very easy to stick too!
One piece of advice if your goal is weight loss is to think about your eating window. Basically that means ditching either dinner or breakfast, and extending the time that you don't eat anything at all. This means that you have either one or two larger meals a day. This is very easy when you are eating carnivore/keto as your meals that you do eat really fill you up.
Good luck with it.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 08/12/2023 13:22

Look up Maria Emmerich OP, she does this diet. I followed her for ages but to be honest I think she looks quite ill, then she posted something on insta I didn't like so unfollowed her, but she has recipes etc that would suit you.

Parentofeanda · 08/12/2023 13:26

@Unabletomitigate problem is that the diet fills me up SO much ! and if i skip a meal then i wont be getting enough calories as already on 1300 maximum :D

@AccidentallyWesAnderson thank you i had a look but she doesnt look carnivore at all as most of her recipes are either treats and deserts of using veggies etc x Carnivore is only meat x

PossumintheHouse · 08/12/2023 13:28

Are you able to eat cheese? It’s a really good addition to a Keto-based diet. If so, you can use cheeses to make a ‘pizza’ base, chicken and bacon caesar salad, cheese sticks (crush up pork scratchings for the ‘breading’).

Parentofeanda · 08/12/2023 13:30

@PossumintheHouse I can eat cheese!

OP posts:
AccidentallyWesAnderson · 08/12/2023 13:32

Ah she's maybe changed to Keto then, she was definitely meat only for a while.

Parentofeanda · 08/12/2023 13:40

@AccidentallyWesAnderson Ahh yeah i looked it up, just Keto, Honestly i think you can never trust people out there in the social media world, i know of a diet influencer in real life and she looks sick too but its not diet she eats well BUT she exercises over 6 hours a day every day. She is obsessed, definitely eats a good diet of at least 2000 calories ( no specific diet just varied) but shes SO bony she looks like she doesnt eat at all
