Starting a thread for the carnivores out there :D I feel the whole weight loss chat has been taken over by people taking all those different shots that are so expensive!!

I started the carnivore diet 10 days ago and its the first time ive actually lost weight properly and feel great! Ive tried every diet i remember and they all made me starving and eat way too much but this is amazing!! so far ive lost 1lb a day last 10 days basically.

Starting weight: 90kg
Current weight: 87kg
Goal weight: 63ish kg

Diet:
Breakfast 9.30am - 3 Poached eggs with 1 bottle of water ( yes that's all as i never used to have breakfast so its a big change for me and eating too much this early will make me feel sick so i eat them very slowly)
Lunch 12:30am - 1Large rump steak and 1 bottle of water
Dinner 4.30pm- 1 large rump Steak or fatty Beef of any kind, 2 poached eggs and 2 bottles of water
Calorie total ( around 1300 calories if not using butter or oil but i don't calorie count)

Everyday Workouts: Everyday i do the couch to 5k but i'm a beginner so mostly i do half of it then i do 10 minute "growwithjo" workout fromyoutube and then ive just started 5 minute Kettlebell workout. On the weekends i may miss a workout due to kids being home but i still try to at least do either my growwithjo or kettlebell workout.

Would love to find a buddy :)

Oh! Interested! I toy around with this but it's time to do something drastic. Always felt so good when I've reduced the carbs in the past. Had a mega stressful year or two and I've ballooned. Maybe now is the time! I was just listening to a podcast from Ketogentic Woman. Unfortunately I had toast for breakfast today, so will have to start from here but I'll join! Do you eat ham? Or is that too processed?

Parentofeanda · 08/12/2023 13:47

@Ohwhatthewhatwhatnow You can eat any meat but not processed and try to stick to fatty meat, i dont even bother calorie counting now although i do know roughly what im having but now if i was starting out id just start eating meat and eggs only all day and just making sure i was getting my water in and see after a week how you feel, Cook in butter if you can have the dairy

OP posts:
Parentofeanda · 08/12/2023 13:48

Also doesnt matter when you start ive always thought, a day off the wagon is only 1 extra day on the journey. As long as you get straight back on it after your fall

Excellent, I have pre-ordered shopping arriving this evening so not the best timing, but I have v high meat content sausages, and I use coconut oil or real butter for cooking eggs and chicken. I often don't start eating till 2pm or later but have been slipping back down the bread slope lately. I also like a coffee with cream or butter and coconut oil; I only have this when I'm watching the carbs and when I have this I generally have one meal that day as it's really filling. Thanks for starting the thread! I might even brave the scales tomorrow morning!

Parentofeanda · 08/12/2023 14:00

@Ohwhatthewhatwhatnow Thats a great start :D Id definitely try a eating to make sure your eating enough. wierdly enough if i eat less my weight loss completely stalls!!!! I need to be eating my 3 meals a day with no snacks to actually lose weight :o Time you eat doesnt really matter but try to eat all meals within a short time and research insulin stuff. Really helped me and i discovered that i was pretty much fucking with my insulin every minute of the day!

OP posts:
Ohwhatthewhatwhatnow · 08/12/2023 14:08

@Parentofeanda I will re-educate myself on the insulin, thank you. I used to love watching Dr Berg. I don't generally snack, and I'm not fussed on breakfast; low carb always worked so well for me. Not sure how I've slipped so much to the point where I'm having so much of the stuff my body doesn't like. This is exactly what I need😊

That sounds dangerous and extremely unhealthy...

Sounds like ignorance.

I’ve been keto and carnivore for almost 9 years OP!

I always feel so amazing on fully carnivore but I need to switch into ketosis often for my autoimmune issue.

I would happily eat steak, eggs and butter every day 😁

NonanteNeuf · 08/12/2023 14:29

@Ohwhatthewhatwhatnow Dr Berg is a doctor of Chiropractic…. And a Scientologist.

Dr. Shawn Baker (actual physician), Laura Spath (layperson) and Nutrition with Judy (Nutritional Therapist) are great resources.

Parentofeanda · 08/12/2023 14:31

@NonanteNeuf Hahaha i get those people, i also used to be ignorant but i decided to do my own trials and research because my husband used to get super sick so he tried every diet he could think of. Only carnivore and No carbs helped him and he is now way more healthier and fitter than anyone i know on a "normal" diet :D

OP posts:
Ohwhatthewhatwhatnow · 08/12/2023 14:31

@NonanteNeuf excellent; thank you 😊I came across him years ago as he gives great examples of how the body can be healed through nutrition and fasting. I'll look the others up too.

eggsandbaconeveryday · 08/12/2023 14:54

I love eating carnivore ! Its been the best thing for my health. I never feel hungry and its help with my T2 diabetes . Having no carbs means I don't have to worry about my sugar levels rising because of what I have eaten. Fish, eggs, cheese, cream, and meat are all I need . You can have so many tasty meals! As for bowels , I take magnesium so I'm as regular as clock work 😄

and your uncle too?

dayone · 08/12/2023 16:14

What about drinks? Can you have milk in tea / coffee? I assume alcohol is a no?

AhBiscuits · 08/12/2023 19:51

My worry is I wouldn't be able to stick to it because it's so limiting. What would I eat on office days, having to cook something different for the rest of the family, unable to go to MIL's for lunch (she makes us lunch once a week), couldn't eat the meal at the work Christmas party etc.

Vegetus · 09/12/2023 06:11

Carnivore zealots and vegans are incredibly similar in their outlandish claims and cultish behaviour.

contactus · 09/12/2023 06:23

i am just curious how on earth this diet works if you don’t WFH or don’t work at all!

FrangipaniBlue · 09/12/2023 06:38

I understand why no refined carbs but what's the reasoning behind no vegetables at all, there are lots of very low/no carb veggies out there?

Whu · 09/12/2023 06:54

Not for OP as they clearly have their mind made up. But for others reading this, please do your research. This diet is very dangerous longer term. Increased risks of cancer, heart disease and infections.

7 Reasons the Carnivore Diet is Unhealthy and What to Try Instead - Gene Food

The all meat carnivore diet isn't healthy or sustainable over the long term and could do lasting damage to your health. Consider these diets instead.

Because numerous quacks have found isolated compounds in vegetables that are toxic in extremely high doses or in vitro studies.

Anyone sticking to this kind of diet the OP outlines won’t need to read a thing.

After a short while their body will tell them all they need to know that this is not a long term healthy diet. Nor is it in any way conducive with modern day life.

but very unlikely to update 3 months down the line to say that they’ve jacked it in due to the side effects and incompatibility
